Why 4 stars? Because this is the hidden gem of International Mall. --- --- --- I'm going to guess that there are people who have been to International Mall 50+ times that had no idea Bazille exists. It's tucked away on the backside of the second floor of Nordstrom's. Why they decided to hide it from the public, I'll never know. But I do know the Nordstrom's is in the business of making money, so I'm sure Bazille is doing just fine. Maybe there's even an extra appeal with it being more unknown. As for our experience, it was very solid. I guarantee the quality of food is much better than what you would find at the majority of the massive chain restaurants on Bay Street. We shared french onion soup and a french dip, along with a side of brussels sprouts. Both were delightful. The key to french onion soup is a giant conglomerate of cheese, and there was no shortage of that in this bowl. The french dip came with a side of fries and some kind of olive aioli. I don't like olives at all, but my fiance loves them in extreme fashion. Turns out, our feelings on the aioli was identical to our feelings on olives. Great food but pricey! I've ordered the roasted veggie in the past and they were good. As well as the fries here. They have healthy options but all tasty. Today I ordered crispy calamari with a sweet chili sauce and the sauce was more on the sweeter side. My husband ordered the ahi tuna salad and it was good and on the sweeter side of dressing. Food came out quick but the bread pudding I ordered when I ordered my meal took a bit too long. But the bread pudding is a must order here. Y U M M Y! This is one of my and my girlfriends' favorite spots for lunch! I made a reservation on OpenTable and was seated promptly upon arrival. She got the Goat Cheese and Chicken Panini and she loved it. She didn't actually say with words - her plate was empty :) She's obsessed with the kalamata aoili there so I knew she was happy. I got the Crab and Shrimp on Brioche - A MA Z I N G! There was NO skimmping on the crab or shrimp. It was so good I honestly could eat it day and night! It wasn't drowned in mayonaise, just enough to keep it together. The avocado slices were very generous. There were chucks of crab and you could tell this was no canned seafood. First of all, I've been here many times before...however I don't know what their innovation team is doing-but it's working. They have truly leveled up! The last time I was here my friend and I ordered something light for lunch and just got tacos, and soup. Well we ended up getting another order of those tacos and sharing them because they were everything. I want to speak with the manager, and whoever seasoned them, because they were on POINT honey!! The taco shells were freshly fried, and I believe the meat on the inside of the tacos was chicken. Then they had the nerve and audacity to season the meat and infuse it with lime and cilantro! Wow!! I have always loved Nordstrom. The food is always consistent and now that they are Bazille and have a bar, i'm a regular! The drinks are also consistent - try the Smoky drink...I forget the exact name, but it's the only one with smoked salt on the rim -- excellent! I do wish they would change up the menu. When you eat here alot, it get a bit old. And then they take away the favorites, like asian salad pizza, or pots de creme. When the new menus came out a few months ago I was so excited to look, only to see exactly the same things with the exception of the calorie count on everything...all because of a new CALIFORNIA law that carried over into giving ME indigestion before I even get food in front of me! ;-P People KNOW what's good or bad for them...they don't need the government ruining my meal. Next thing you know they're going to stop serving alcohol, or ice cream...YIKES! ANARCHY! So, now, since I know the menu hasn't changed and I know what's on it...this has actually worked in my favor, because I don't NEED a menu anymore. Not a first time here! I have loved Bazille ever since we had our Yelp event there. Super cozy vibes and delicious food. This experience was no different. I chose Bazille for my birthday dinner with some girlfriends. We had reservations and were sat immediately. Our server did not come for quite some time so we sat and chatted and I told everyone about the restaurant. The server finally turned up and appeared to be annoyed with us almost immediately. He rushed us through our drink orders and left. When he returned he rushed us through our dinner orders and disappeared. We had to flag down another server for straws as he didnt even stay long enough for us to request them. Our food was brought out by another person and at that point we hadn't seen our server for about 25-30 minutes. He never visited to ask us about our meal nor check if we received our condiments/accompaniments, which we did not. We ended up flagging down yet another server for those items. The food was delicious. I still love those French fries with the aioli sauce..mmmm. I opted for a medium burger which was cooked perfectly. I loved my meal! Our server finally turned up at the end of our meal for the checks and that was the last we saw of him. I think sometimes servers prejudge if they will receive a tip and their service to you reflects that. I always make it my business to tip very well because I know first hand that the servers depend on the tips. Regardless, I received less than subpar service on this occasion and will never let this gentleman serve me again. I will, however, return to Bazille because it is amazing read more

Bazille is located on the 2nd floor of Nordstrom at International Plaza. It has a great atmosphere, good service and a variety of salads, soups, and entrees to choose from. I really like the fact the they display the calorie counts for each dish on their menu to inform and assist customers who are concerned about their calorie intake. For lunch today, I ordered the pan seared chicken which came topped with Brussels sprouts, grapes, almonds and parmesan cheese. The dish was good and well-presented, but nothing extraordinary. I think their lunch prices are a bit high for lunch and would be more appropriate for dinner. Overall, I think Bazille offers a good option for a nice sit down meal for those wanting to take a break from shopping without leaving the mall. read more

Who would have thought a restaurant inside a department store would be not be a hidden secret? This place was packed for lunch at 12:30. It definitely has that classy upscale open kitchen ambience, and servers are dressed in black. It's a tad pricey for lunch, since there is no lunch menu, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My bff and I had a bowl of French onion soup, which was so oniony, cheesy, and brothy. It's packed solid with tender onions, a slice of bread, and smothered with a thick covering of tasty hot melty cheese. We also shared the fried calamari and prosciutto and arrugula salad pizza. The calamari came with a sweet sauce and was good and tasted fresh made as opposed to frozen, and the pizza was delicious, about a 12 incher and thin crust, very good. From the hosts to the servers, everything runs smoothly at Bazille. The service is inspirational. Classified as a "contemporary American" restaurant, Bazille is located on the second floor of Nordstrom. It features giant and flavorful salads [I never thought I'd say that about salads!], appetizing sandwiches, and an assortment of entrees. Bazille even offers housemade desserts that you'd think you'd only find at fancy-schmancy steakhouses! Everything is refined and delicious. They don't skimp out on ingredients here. Your cilantro lime shrimp salad will contain large wild shrimp. Your prime rib french is actually slices of prime rib that can stand alone and you still won't be disappointed. Bazille is a perfect spot for food and drinks at any time of the day. My formula for a perfect shopping day at International Plaza involves a mandatory visit here. Restaurant in Nordstrom? Yes, that's right! The only reason I know why there is a restaurant in Nordstrom is thanks to my friend Michelle for introducing me to one in Utah! I loooooved going to the ones in Utah! The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 star and not a 5 star is because they changed their Caesar Salad! I was so obsessed with the Caesar Salad on their menu before! I know, I know you're probably thinking, "Are you serious? It's just a salad." But it seriously was the best Caesar Salad I ever had! There was chopped romain lettuce, garlic croutons, grilled chicken strips, parmesan cheese, a parmesan crisp, lemon, tossed Caesar dressing, and an option for black pepper. So simple but so delicious! I wish I had a picture to show you! They took this salad off the menu and now have a Caesar Baby Gem Salad. There is baby gem romain, (not chopped - whole leaf), garlic crouton, parmesan cheese, white anchovy sauce, and an actual anchovy on top. This salad just doesn't taste the same! Please bring back the old one! Now that I'm done venting about the salad :)...their other food is still amazing! I had the soup of the day which was a jalapeño chicken soup. It came with a breadstick and it was the perfect amount (I ordered the cup - $5.50). I also had their French onion soup which is really good too! Their sandwiches are all great options. My favorite on their new menu is the Bistro Club. There is sliced chicken breast, organic baby greens, bacon, tomato, avocado, french green beans (nice twist to a sandwich), garlic aioli, toasted rustic bread and an option of french fries or a salad. Their service is amazing and the staff are all very friendly! If you are dining alone, there is plenty of bar seats. After you pay, they always give you a chocolate mint stick! Bazille never disappoints! There's almost always a wait but they send you a text when the tables ready so you can shop around upstairs or a store nearby. I've never had bad service here, waiters are always kind and accommodating. Water cups are always filled and finished plates are taken away quickly. The food! Seriously, I've been to this place at minimum 10 times and have enjoyed every meal. No matter what I order I always make sure to get a side of fries. They come out perfectly crispy sprinkled with fresh herbs and is served with a kalamata olive aioli that is due for! I could eat the aioli with a spoon! My favorite dishes are the paillard chicken salad, the Niçoise salad, French onion soup, and the steak and frites. A few people I've dived with have commented that the food is salty but I think it's just the right amount! But, I'm a salty gal so I might be biased. Update: the menu has changed and all my favorite dishes are gone :( Still willing to go just for the fries though! read more

Came in for dinner, my wife had been to the locations in the west coast so we wanted to give our local one a try. The appetizers were the best, we really enjoyed the 5 Alarm Fall vegetable Grain bowl, it was flavorful and plentiful. The Lamb Sliders were also pretty good, the tzatziki sauce gave them a nice touch. We enjoyed a couple of drinks as well, I had the Billionaire, which is made with Makers Mark, grenadine, lemon, and absinthe, very fresh. My wife had the basil cucumber crush, refreshing. For entrees we had the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad, those shrimp were quite large, seasoned to perfection, and cooked very well. We also had the Wild Salmon with Saffron Couscous, the dish looked good, but the salmon felt a bit overcooked, and the dish itself needed some more seasoning, I had to get some salt to wake up the flavors. We closed our visit with a delicious Creme Brulee. Either way, we enjoyed our visit and would probably return to try some other dishes. read more

We found this bistro to be comfortable & less hectic than the food court or restaurant row. Its annoyance was the loud piped-in music. The crowd was relatively quiet, but the background songs were deafening, & detracted from an otherwise relaxing ambiance. We had the Fried Halibut with FF's & Cole Slaw & really enjoyed the dinner, except for the slaw. Its chop was coarse, & the taste was sour to neutral. The fish was fresh-tasting, flakey, breaded, flash fried (4 loins), w/ minimal oiliness. The FF's were fresh-cut with herbal enhancement. Both were piping hot, delicious in their own light, & came with a remoulade that put both over-the-top. Our waiter, Matthew, was spot-on informative, cordial, & attentive. Value was consistent with the overall pricing canopy of International Plaza, i.e. noticeably inflated for the area. The menu is quite limited. read more

I would never consider eating lunch in a restaurant in a department store, but, after all, this is Nordstrom and it has great reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed. I tried the chicken paillard, pounded chicken breast with arugula, red onion, and cherry tomatoes tossed in a lemon balsamic vinaigrette. It was delicious. Our server was very conscientious and kept filling ans refilling our iced tea. Sophia tried a not-on-the-menu lunch special of pasta tossed with chicken sausage and fennel. Delightful! It's a wonderfully upscale environment, as you might expect. Filled with happy and hungry shoppers, Bazille has a nice vibe conducive to eating and enjoying food. This is no food court emporium. Sitting in Bazille, you would never guess that a department store was steps away. By the way, the menu was varied with sandwiches, salads and hot entrees. Bazille is one of the best kept secrets of International Mall that many mall regulars do not even know exists! Bazille is hidden on the 2nd floor of Nordstroms, in the back of the store. Bazille usually gets busy for lunch, but I've lucked out the last couple times I've visited, perhaps because they've raised their prices, and have not had to wait for an open table. Bazille is a full-service restaurant with a casually sophisticated atmosphere featuring bistro cuisine and a full bar. Bazille serves fresh light salads, soups, sandwiches, 6 entrées, and house-made desserts. Service at Bazille has been consistently good. Bazille features an open kitchen concept where you can see the chefs prepare your meals. On my most recent visit, we were promptly greeting by the hostess and seated at a booth table without waiting. After ordering, our server brought out our meals in under 10 minutes. I ordered the Bistro Club sandwich featuring sliced chicken breast, organic baby greens, crisp bacon, tomato, avocado, french green beans, garlic aïoli, toasted rustic bread and a side salad. The flavoring of the sandwich and salad was a bit bland on it's own, but was quite heavenly after requesting Bazille's Thai salad dressing and spicy mustard! Flagging down a server for We also got a Warm Asian Glazed Chicken featuring organic baby greens, romaine lettuce, julienne vegetables, crisp wontons, mandarin oranges, toasted almonds, sesame seeds, cilantro, ginger sesame dressing. On a previous visit, we had the Ginger Crusted Ahi Tuna salad featuring organic baby greens, cabbage, blistered green beans, red pepper, seasoned wontons, candied ginger, soy glaze, spicy thai basil vinaigrette and Turkey Pastrami with Apple Mostarda, housemade turkey pastrami, havarti cheese, organic baby spinach, and telera roll. Probably the biggest reason I don't frequent Bazille more often anymore is because unlike many other restaurants in the International Mall area, Bazille does not run any lunch specials, or even have a separate lunch menu. You are stuck paying high dinner pricing for lunch. Salads will run you $14-$18, sandwiches will run you $15, and entrees will run you $17-$33. While the food wasn't bad, it wasn't amazing and definitely not worth this kind of price gauging. For a larger variety of similar healthy light soups, salads, and sandwiches, I'd recommend sticking with Nature's Table or Panera bread which is a bit more reasonable with their $5-$7 pricing model. If you are in need of splurging, table service, and treating yourself but still want to keep it healthy, try out Bazille if you can remember where to find it! :) read more

Just the next day after yelp event to Bazille I came back to dine, yes I was very impressed with the entire restaurant and couldn't wait to experience it outside of yelp. I was not disappointed. I got the opportunity to sit at the bar for dinner and to try Amelia drink. The Amelia was yummy and very well chilled. You won't find the Amelia on the menu but you can still order it. Happy hour is only at the bar until 6:30. Just as I expected with the food it was delicious, I tried different items from the night before and had the Ale Battered shrimp and 2 orders of the flat Iron Steak tacos. Adding Bazille to my eat everything off the menu list. Again service was again exceptional great. Our bartender was super awesome. Tucked away on the 2nd floor (park on upper level outside parking deck if you are wanting to head straight to the food), it's a cozy little place for a good meal, a nice glass of wine and great service. The menu is a simple American fare menu. We enjoyed their sticky wings to start off which were yummy! I then had the Roasted Wild Salmon with Herbed Mushroom Risotto. So delicious and fresh and plenty of food for me to take to go for lunch the next day. By the time we finished, I was too full for dessert, but the selection looked great and I will certainlyake a trip back for more than just shopping. read more

Located upstairs, for a Tuesday night there was a really good crowd. I decided to be good, since I had a bad weekend, and I ordered the lime shrimp salad. It was incredibly fresh and tasty. The shrimp were large and prepared perfectly and the salad dressing was not overpowering. My friend ordered the pear salad and added grilled chicken. We also split a side of Brussels sprouts. My boyfriend surprised me on Valentines day by taking me to Bazille in Nordstrom at International Mall, and for being a restaurant inside a mall, I left REALLY impressed. You could tell everything was cut and cooked fresh and the service was just phenomenal. There was this appetizer that was ricotta, chopped tomato, and honey layered in this mason jar with these crispy crostini's served on the side and it was just INCREDIBLE. But my palette had yet to taste the lobster mac and cheese that was my entree. Don't even get me started on dessert. My boyfriend even called ahead to talk to the manager to keep flowers he bought for me in the fridge and the staff even set them up on the table for when we walked in, they really went above and beyond to help him to ensure we had a really great evening.
