Location: Bazille (International Mall) Date: 5-12-2016 Time: 1115 Bazille is a little restaurant tucked away in the top level of the Nordstrom department store, at the International Mall. I'm sure many of the visitors of Bay Street (the central location of the majority of eateries) do not even know this little spot exists. It's worth a look French Onion Soup ($7.50 a bowl) - Go there for this! When this space was called Café Bistro (years ago) I had heard it had an amazing French Onion soup and I remember stopping by just to get a bowl and it being wonderful. I decided making my way back I should start my lunch with the same dish that I enjoyed on my long ago first visit. It arrived in no-time and it was just as I remember it, a large white crock with mounds of melted and golden brown gruyere and provolone cheeses, two good size slices of bread berried underneath and fresh chives to top. Once you summon up the willpower to break thought that beautiful cheese top you are greeted by a well salted and very flavorful broth, with a good amount of onions. In short...if you any kind of fan of French Onion Soup...you owe it to yourself to get a bowl. Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad ($16.95) - Decent salad I order the cilantro lime shrimp salad...to try and balance out all the calories I just enjoyed with the above dish (side note the menu lists the calorie content of all its dishes if you are trying to keep track) a feature that actually helped me decided on a salad and not a sandwich. The shrimps were few (~4 or 5) but large and excellently cooked. The dressing was light, citrusy and refreshing and the lettuce and veggies were tasty. Overall a good dish, nothing extraordinary, but tasty nonetheless. Crab Macaroni and Cheese ($15.50) - Skip it unless you are looking for something really rich My old man ordered the crab mac & cheese...not noticing the four digit calorie notice to the side. The star of this dish was the orecchiette pasta, that was expertly cooked and one of my favorite types. The cheese was very rich (fontina cream sauce + gruyere) and lacked a little bit that I think could have made this dish much better. The lump crab meat was lost in this dish and could have been served better in large pieces, to help distinguish it from the rest of the components. The side salad was unexciting and my Dad said it tasted spicy....but I just think he put too much pepper on it. Water Closets - Mulit-Stall The wash rooms were rather barren almost to the level of feeling sterile. Light gray tile on white walls left much to be desired and the single sink flanked by two long lights didn't do much to help that feeling. Overall The mall is not usually know as a culinary destination and this spot does nothing to change that notion. However, if you find yourself at the International Mall and you have any monies left from all your high end shopping, this is a great stop for a hot bowl of soup. read more

I remember Bazille when it was called Nordstrom Bistro, many moons ago. They have the same great menu and have maintained the same familiar quality over the past several years. It's one of those niche restaurants I crave when I want the following: a great quality sandwich, a great quality soup, decadent, thin French fries with deliciously addictive kalamata olive aioli - yes, I know that's a strange craving to have, but work with me. Somewhat of a well kept secret, Bazille is tucked away at the far end of the second floor of Nordstrom and serves up a unique menu ranging from lobster mac n cheese to chicken sandwiches. When I think of a quality chicken sandwich and perfectly seasoned fries, I think of Bazille. The wait time usually averages 20-30 minutes even on a Sunday around 3pm, but they are on OpenTable so definitely take advantage of that! read more

I do not ever write reviews but i have to for this place. i've been going here for a little over two years and have never had a bad experience. i was working in the mall and craving my favorite soup so i places a order for carry out. I NEVER order carry out or delivery because it is never as good as it is in the restaurant. It's usually thrown together and cold. When i tell you this soup and these fries were just as good as if it was brought to be fresh from the kitchen believe me. i am so please. my cheese on the top of my soup was nice and baked and the fries were salted to perfection. Favorite lunch spot at international mall in Tampa. I have been a loyal customer through the Nordstrom bistro days and remodeling into Bazille restaurant today. The menu has mostly stayed the same over the years. They change some stuff around but I have yet to be disappointed. Great service most of the time with delicious food. They get it right all the time & I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't already done so. The sandwiches are delicious, usually served with French fries & Kalamata aioli which is absolutely favorite of mine condiments. Salads are satisfying & full of flavors. Pizzas are yum too. They even make a great steak for lunch if you are craving that. Long long waits during rush hours of lunch, dinner & especially weekends. Great food from a great menu. Flat bread was fantastic, brussels sprouts were delicious, salads were tasty, no complaints there. Drinks were a different story, one of our party had to send their drink back a few times before it was deemed acceptable, but no issues from my well prepared old fashioned. It was a little bit cramped, a neighboring table was seated way too close to us in the "lounge" area and the odd bump between neighbors was experienced. Overall however, great food and in a great location, get the chance to go walk off those desserts in the Nordstrom's or wander into the mall. read more

I feel like not many people know about Bazille located inside the Nordstrom at International Plaza, but if you venture in there at any lunch hour you will see it's packed. They do take reservations if you are on a time crunch, otherwise they do a good job of getting people in and out but there may be a small wait. Food options are a variety of salads, sandwiches, and even some wood oven pizzas. Bread for the table is available but on request. The salad I had was plentiful for a lunch portion and was very fresh. If you're in the mood for something non-chain when at the mall, this would definitely be a good option. read more

This place is great. I'd like to give em 4 but they had a backed up and confused kitchen this time. Starters were tuna poke. The fried wontons served with the poke were seasoned to perfection. The tomatoes jam jar is a pleasant surprise. Haven't seen it on any other menu. Tiny jar layered layered with ricotta on bottom, pesto, tomatoes, and the peach preserve jam. Interesting right? Try it. Oh and served with tostinis. Entree was the salmon on a bed of mushroom risotto. Had to send it back the first time. Way overcooked. They corrected it shortly after. I did get the tomatoe jar after my Entree also. Some people would probably give 2 stars because of these hiccups. They corrected their wrongs and apologized for the inconvenience. This place is my absolute favorite for their salads! Oh so delicious. I always eat here and have great service but the food it AMAZING! Love, love, love this hidden gem restaurant! I have been here a few times and each time I am thoroughly satisfied. I have tried many different food items and so far have not been disappointed with anything. Some of my favorites include the farm bread bruschetta, the side of herbed fries with kalamata olive aioli and of course the white chocolate bread pudding! The farm bread bruschetta is like a caprese bruschetta with a basil pesto base. It's incredibly fresh and the perfect balance. If you like kalamata olives then those fries are for you! Little bits of olive in the aioli, it's divine! And now for dessert- the white chocolate bread pudding! I have to start by saying that I am not a bread pudding fan. I never order it when I go out, I don't like soggy bread! However theirs is more of like a soft cake consistency. Nice and sweet and the white chocolate and raspberry sauce on top I could bathe in! Its too good. Cocktails are also light and refreshing. In particular the GM 75, and the cucumber basil cooler. Would be a great pairing for any of their wonderful salads! Daughter and I shared the bruschetta, which is stylized in its presentation - very tasty with burrata instead of regular buffalo mozzarella. Bazille is delicious! I remember going to International Mall with my mom and eating here somewhat frequently growing up. The name was different back then, but the restaurant has remained awesome. Service is always quick, the food is so good, and the atmosphere is nice. Nothing is cooler than a hidden-away cafe in the middle of Northdroms! I always get the club sandwich and fries. They take the most simple dish and make it spectacular with green beans and more. If your meal doesn't come with fries, you should definitely order a side with a side of olive aioli. This is such a good spot to dine! It's not too fancy, so walk in however! If you have the option, eating at the counter where you can look over and watch the kitchen is very interesting! I have a love hate relationship with Bazille. I absolutely love the fries and olive dip, I will forever love their fries. However, I do hate the fact that the menu is constantly changing so my old faves disappear without anything comparable. I went for lunch with my 4 year old and he always gets his chicken tenders and fries. The kids menu has gone up quite a bit in price and instead of fries they are serving the tenders and most kids meals with potatoes and green beans. I commend Bazille for providing healthy options for kids but if your kid is like mine he won't want anything green. Thankfully you can sub out the green stuff for those awesome fries, same price either way. I was looking for a sandwich to enjoy that was comparable to the discontinued chicken with goat cheese panini but there was nothing quite like it so I opted for the bistro club. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the club and I kinda just suffered through it to avoid having to try to find our MIA server. The bread on the club was so hard that it was like trying to bite into bark. I removed the inside of the sandwich and ate it like a salad. I didn't enjoy spending $15.50 for a subpar sandwich. I keep coming back to Bazille because I'm just hoping it will be as good as it once was, it's super convenient when I'm shopping at Nordstrom and we all crave those amazing fries. I went here for the first time tonight for a Yelp event. I wish I had known about this place sooner, because the food is delicious. We started off with an order of french fries with a Kalamata olive aioli. I can understand why these fries were voted best in Tampa Bay in 2015. They were so delicious. I never would have thought of the olive aioli, and it made the fries stand out more than any fries I think I've ever had. The next course was a cocktail a Prosecco with Grand Marnier and it was pretty tasty. They also served lump crab soup shot which was delicious. Next was a delicious shrimp salad. It had a cilantro vinaigrette and although I'm not a big cilantro fan, I really enjoyed it. It was jumbo shrimp and it was so tasty. They also served a really delicious flat iron steak salad. Dessert was a delicious bread pudding with a white chocolate and raspberry sauce. Usually I am not a fan of but putting but this was divine. I have never tasted a better bread pudding. They also served a couple of other cocktails one was a gin and cucumber drink and the other was a muddled blackberry and vodka beverage. They were pretty good. I'm not much of a drinker though so I probably am not a good judge of the beverages. Situated in Nordstrom's, Bazille restaurant not only serves incredibly good food but it is also very pretty. Done in golds and browns and muted oranges it's very attractive. The wait staff was incredible they were very friendly and helpful and an amazing job of describing the food and beverages to us. I was really impressed by the staff and the food. Also they have very nice restrooms conveniently located in the restaurant. This is definitely a five plus restaurant and I would come here again. I look forward to trying other dishes on the menu. But I definitely think I'll have to order the bread pudding. I highly recommend this place. read more

It was full pack of Yelpers tonight trying to critic Bazille. Well, here's my Review....first the overall Ambience and location Is well set up tonight. It was a long 8 course meals with 3 cocktail drinks. First course, fries with rosemary and evoo with parsley...and aoili dressing. The crab soup was good had some corn. I liked the way it was presented inside a shot glass. Next, tomato caprese salad with balsamic reduction with some around greens and mozzarella cheese. The deviled eggs was a bit salty for my Taste and asked the GM what's the overall ingredients and was told it has mustard and salt. I mentioned that mustard is already salty maybe skip the salt so it won't be salty and he took it very good to consider my on spot review. Next was grilled shrimp salad with cilantro dressing, a bit dry for me and asked for extra cilantro dressing and when I add the extra dressing it was very tasty and delicious. And the last one was Steak salad with pressed butter herb dressing, meat was tender and tasty, and the last one was bread pudding with condensed milk and raspberry sauce and raspberry fresh fruit. There were 3 cocktails and one of them has the GRand Manier mixed which I love and the last cocktail served was a fresh squeezed cucumber with junipero gin. The blackberry (red) cocktail with sugar is my least favorite but very presentable. Overall, very impressive to my taste and will For sure go back to try more of the other menus they served. This is a restaurant inside Nordstrom, it's very convenient to shop and eat lunch. They also have varieties of salad dressings they sell But they were not able to showcase any of their products tonight. Not sure why but would help if they did. As a Nordstrom member, there are perks to eat at their restaurant same as shopping. Try it and you will love the food. 4 star for my review because they forgot to showcase their regular products from their restaurant that was on displayed. For the past two years, Nordstrom Bistro at International Plaza Mall has been one of my favorite go to lunch spots. Wayne, one of my first friends in Tampa introduced me to this spot and anytime we wanted to do lunch at International Plaza Mall, he suggested the Bistro. Fast forward and Nordstrom Bistro has been remodeled and renamed to Bazille. Thankfully for the Bistro fans, Bazille kept a few signature items on their menu while adding some new additions. They also offer an extended craft cocktail menu (YAY). Post remodel and rebranding, I was very happy to learn that the Warm Asian Glazed Chicken Salad was left on the menu. My friend Katie and I frequent Bazille and we both love this salad. It consists of Szechuan glazed chicken breast, julienne vegetables, crisp wontons, cilantro, mandarin oranges, toasted almonds and ginger sesame dressing. It is one of my favorite salads ever. One of my new favorite starters has to be Caprese Bruschetta, toasted rustic bread, seasonal tomatoes, burrata cheese, spicy basil vinaigrette, fleur de sel, balsamic reduction. I adore anything with burrata cheese. This bruschetta made me reflect on the many times I have turned my nose up to tomatoes over the years. I am glad I have decided to sorta like them :) If you like pizza, you MUST try the Rustic Vegetable & Three Cheese Pizza. You cannot go wrong with this combo: roasted artichokes, sautéed organic baby spinach, wild mushrooms, oven-roasted tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, aged provolone and parmesan cheeses, fresh basil. This is an insanely good pizza, plus the veggies make you feel less guilty! On my last visit, I ventured out and tried the Roasted Chicken and Goat Cheese Panini. This amazing sandwich consist of natural roast chicken, goat cheese spread, aged provolone cheese, oven-roasted tomatoes, organic arugula, dijon balsamic vinaigrette and lemon chive aïoli on grilled rustic bread. Do you see the purple sauce in between the sandwich and french fries? That would be kalamata olive aïoli!! AMAZING. Back in the day before the remodel, I always got a nice glass of chardonnay or pinot grigio with lunch. Now there are more options. While not on the menu, Bazille has my lover, Moscow Mule. Copper mug and all. If you know me personally, you are aware of my love affair for this cocktail and it did not disappoint. The ginger beer was the correct amount of spice to go along with the vodka and lime concoction. I also loved what I believe is to be called the Rent Check cocktail. Unfortunately, Bazille does not have their cocktail menu online. Going off of memory, a silver tequilla with muddled watermelon and possibly some spice? All I know is that it was quickly consumed with high praises. Bazille is a great place to go have lunch or dinner while shopping at International Plaza. Luckily for us, Bazille is now taking reservations on Open Table - much better than waiting in line like it used to be. I strongly encourage reservations for those looking to dine here. read more

Phenomenal service and food. I should end the review there, but then you wouldn't know what I ate. You wouldn't know that one of the most delicious sandwiches at International Plaza is not at TooJay's, Earl of Sandwich, Subway or Charley's Grilled Subs. It is in fact tucked away inside of the Nordstrom's department store on the second floor in a quaint little eatery called Bazille. What is the sandwich, you ask? It is the BISTRO CLUB and features sliced chicken breast, baby greens, bacon, tomatoes, avocado, French green beans, and garlic aioli served on some kind of rustic bread. It is absolutely worth contemplating murder for. On the side, they offer some shoestring fries, which usually piss me off due to their lack of girth. However, these are served up with not ketchup, but some sort of house made condiment fabricated with mayo, olives and possibly cilantro? Who knows? But I definitely got a few to go and I've been spreading it on everything except the shaving rash on my neck. You like hummus? So do I, and theirs might be the best. This isn't a joke, people. 20 feet away from some of the most fabulous and overly-priced dresses in town stands a kitchen that is churning out some of the best hummus in the area. You like cocktails? So do I, and the cucumber drink here is light, refreshing and manly-looking enough for me to pull off while eating my girly thin fries and super organic chicken bistro club. Have I been hiding under a rock? I had zero clue Nordstroms had such a fantastic restaurant in their department store. This place takes me back... ok way back my fellow Tampanians to when Maas Brothers had a wonderful restaurant. Does anyone else remember it??! I used to go as a little girl with my mom. Anyways - what a wonderful surprise. 9 people - all family meeting up for a post Christmas luncheon to catch up and eat some lunch. I made a reservation the evening before since I read how packed they get. I also figured a party of 9 would take a long time. I arrive and am promptly seated. I order a fruit infused iced tea. It was a muddled blackberry tea with lots of fresh fruit and extremely refreshing. We start off with soups for a few of us. For lunch I ordered a great salad - pear and blue cheese and with an add on of scallops. I was shocked at how good the scallops were. The previous night I was at Epicureans Elevage and had scallops there as well. Sadly - Bazille blew them away! They had to have been some of the best ever. I would definitely go back and want to try more items. Every other item that arrived on the table looked really good. A mix of pasta, salads, a pizza and burders. Person 1 "Get dressed as we are going to a restaurant inside the mall." Person 2 "In the mall or near the mall?" Person 1:"It's in a department store in the mall." Person 2: "Um, What???" Person 1: "Wait, ... did I tell you it was in Nordstrom?"...is probably a common conversation people have before ending up here for dinner. Yes, Nordstrom has a restaurant inside of their store and I must say that it is very good. Atmosphere - contemporary bistro, soft lighting, quite, people dressed as though they had been shopping all day (and they have) mixed with couples dressed like they are on a romantic date. Service - prompt, helpful, professional, and attentive Food - The menu here is fairly straightforward and simple. The prices, surprisingly for Nordstrom, appear reasonable and range from $7 (soup) to $20 (roasted salmon, which included sides). From the recommendation of our server, I chose the Flat Iron Steak Frites (i.e. steak and French fries). It came as a 10oz flat iron steak topped w/ herb butter and sides consisting of an organic arugula salad and bistro French fries with kalamata olive aïoli. The steak, while thin as flat iron steak should be, was cooked to order...medium. It was easy to cut and tasted delicious (probably helped significantly by the herb butter). The arugula salad was nicely dressed but the highlight of the sides for me was the Frites, which were the French fries that I dipped into the kalamata olive aïoli. Although I am not a big fan sauces (especially purple-ish looking sauces) I could not stop eating this aïoli as it was soooo good. During my meal, I saw many a brick oven pizza going by that all looked very tasty; however, I was still very happy with my selection for dinner. Overall - Bazille has definitely changed my opinion on restaurants inside of department stores. The next time someone suggests going to a department store for dinner I will definitely be much more open to the idea. Awesome service, delicious food. I was shopping with my mother and grandmother last weekend and we decided to dine at Bazille for lunch. At noon on a Saturday, I knew it might be crowded, so I logged onto opentable and made a 12:30 reservation. As soon as we arrived at Bazille we were seated immediately, and greeted by our server. I can't remember his name but he was AWESOME! So sweet with my 90 year old grandmother, and didn't seem to be bothered by all of our questions and special requests (dressing on side, 1/2 salad order, hold the tortilla strips etc) We started with an order of the fries and Kalamata olive aioli. My stomach just grumbled with hunger as I typed out "Fries and Kalamata olive aioli" - that's how delicious this dish is. I could typically take or leave French fries, but at Bazille, they are a MUST. As we were shopping and didn't want to over-indulge and get too lethargic, we each had small dishes. I ordered a 1/2 order of the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad. Bazille offers half portions of most salads, you just have to ask. It was fresh, crisp, and the shrimp were nice and juicy My mother and grandmother each had the Caesar salad with roasted chicken, and the soup du jour, which was a butternut jalapeno soup. The soup was certainly noteworthy - not too creamy, just the right amount of jalapeno kick. I would definitely recommend Bazille if you are anywhere near international plaza! read more

The ambiance is suitable for a dinner or lunch with coworkers or a date - casual and sophisticated. They have an open layout where the kitchen staff can be seek working on their creations. The menu offers variety of Soups, Salad, Appetizer, Pizza and Sandwiches. Also offers a wide array of cocktails and beer. This is a great place, tucked away, albeit a bit noisy, perfect for people watching or casual dining. For main course, Roast Chicken Pommes Frites hit the spot with crisp boneless half chicken served with Bazille fries. For seafood lovers, the seasonal Seafood Thai coconut-curry dish bring thai flare to Mussels, chunks of grilled salmon, Scallops & grilled shrimp. This place has been near and dear to my heart for over five years now. Birthday lunches, graduation luncheons, weeknight dinners with family and friends, I come here RELIGIOUSLY. Everything is amazing, the food, the service, the atmosphere.. It is my go-to and always will be when in Tampa. I feel like it's hard to find the quality food with good service to boot, and to find it in the middle of a department store is saying something. Some of my favorite things here are the prime rib sandwich, bleu cheese and pear salad, and the soon-to-be removed chicken and goat cheese panini. But the fries are what i continually crave... With Kalamata aioli. TO DIE FOR! Also, you can't stop at Bazille without ordering the white chocolate raspberry bread pudding..... It's one of my all-time favorite desserts. I will always love Bazille like its my second home. It's a great place for group celebrations or lunch for two. One of the best bistros Tampa has to offer. read more

Great birthday lunch for my sister-in-law today. They texted us five minutes before our reservation time that our table is ready, (FiveMinute shopping warning), which I thought was a nice touch. Jay was our server and handled all our wishes efficiently and effectively. Very good wine selection and specials. The special chicken tortilla soup was a unique appetizer, homemade and prepared with taste totally different than the typical restaurant fare. The prime rib and turkey pastrami sandwiches were very good, with a fruit side for me in lieu of french fries, which I sampled off my wife's plate, and were very tasty. Our sister in law loved her salmon salad. Very unique cheesecake dessert with caramel sauce. My wife's typical chocolate martini desert received high marks. No missed steps, and a very enjoyable lunch. read more

Bazille is located on the top floor of Nordstrom's in the International Mall. I went there for lunch and loved everything. The crab soup is delicious--not too heavy with a buttery piece of thinly sliced baguette on the side and plenty of chunks of crab meat. I also had the spinach and goat cheese salad. Delicious and healthy! In order to balance out all of the wholesome goodness of the salad, I ordered a side of garlic aioli fries with it. Match made in heaven. I would highly recommend reservations as it was packed on a Thursday afternoon and there was a 40 min wait when we arrived at 12:15. IMPORTANT TIP: the bar and counter is first come first serve. So if the wait is long and you don't have reservations, you can give that a try. We got lucky and were able to sit at the counter right away. I will definitely be back to try the other goodies. read more

I was really excited to try this place since Nordstrom Cafe was one of my favorite lunch spots, and Nordstrom is probably my favorite brand, period. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. The star-quality training Nordstrom typically gives their employees wasn't apparent. Service was okay, but I'm not used to Nordstrom service being "okay." Almost every experience I have with their brand is "Wow, you're not going to believe how amazing this was." It didn't stand out but there was nothing severely wrong with it. I ordered the Roasted Chicken. French fries were great. The roasted chicken had way too much rosemary for my liking. And way too much oil and butter (I didn't even know that was possible!) The bar looks like a fun place to sit. Will try that next time. I'll be back to give it another go, but my first experience wasn't something to write home about. read more
