First and foremost I would like to mention that finding a nice place to eat lunch in Jacksonville was harder than my husband and I thought... after some searching we decided to head to BB's for a late lunch and I'm really happy we did. The place was modern but still warm and the food was good. I got the crab cake sandwich with couscous. Both were good but the open face sandwich was difficult to eat. My husband got the wild mushroom pizza, which he loved, I personally thought it was a little too much mushroom but that's a me thing, not a BB's thing. All in all this place was good, not quite mind blowing but nice. It's worth giving a try if you're in the area. read more

Normally, when in town, I give BBs 5 stars, but recent visit was very disappointing. The group had the duck wonton and calamari, which were Great as usual. Most disappointing was the jambalaya pizza my colleague had for dinner. Zero taste. When He mentioned to the server it didn't seem to have andouille or any taste, there was no reaction or response.....just ignored it. The fish entrees were ok (done well but little flavor), but kind of bland. Desserts were great.....never disappoint. I gave it 2 stars mainly because of the response of the staff ignoring my friends comments and the OK food.....will definitely be back, but not going out of my way next time.... read more

I struggled with how many stars to give this review. Ultimately, there needs to be a level of trust between an establishment an their patrons. I was visiting Jacksonville and came across BB"s. Upon checking their website, it said they had a happy hour Monday - Thursday 5-7PM. I arrived and sat at the bar, I asked the bartender and she told me they did not have a happy hour, nor did they have any drink specials. Not a big deal had I not seen it on their website. As for the food, I had the warm goat cheese salad and the bread pudding, both were very good. So overall, the food was good, but they just don't have their act together. BBs is one of my favorite lunch spots in Jacksonville. I went last Thursday; the servers were very friendly and brought our drinks quickly. The specials are always good and my favorite is the Thursday special, which is quesadilla with their homemade guacamole. Out of this world! This restaurant is in the San Marco area, It has a very trendy decor, with a very good bar. The tables are a little tight but other that nothing detracts from the decor. The menu has 2 styles fixed 3 course meal with 2 or 3 options per category. The entree are typically farm to table chicken, pork loin or chef pasta. My wife choose from these options, She had chicken and rice soup as the appetizer it was well seasoned with very good balance,accompanied with a Parmesan toast point. Typically she will not have a loin or chop because she requires it be well done which typically means dry. We told our server well done and bb's chef was able to make it both well done and juicy. The loin was on top of grits and sauteed vegetables. She loved all of it and she typically doesn't each many vegetables. Lastly we both had bread pudding. This was not our original choices but as we went thru dinner you will see that 75% of the restaurant is having bread pudding. The change was right on. The bread pudding is amazing light , cinnamony and topped by really good home made ice cream . I had a salad , and beef bourguignon. The beef was light, juicy and well spiced. Went to lunch at BB's today to get one of my favorites, shrimp and grits. Unfortunately, they have changed the Wednesday special to a 'healthier' version, using organic grits, reducing the sausage and removing the kick it once had. The new version is very sweet tasting and a total disappointment. Come on BB's! Bring back the old version which most of us loved. The health nuts can eat salad. This is one of my favorite lunch spots in the San Marco area. Perfect for any type of corporate lunch. They have a wide variety of unique salads. Most people in my group are fans of the Asian chop chop, which comes with pickled ginger and makes you feel healthy because it is a salad, even though it has rice noodles as well. Make sure to order the wasabi sauce on the side though, otherwise it will cover everything and be really overwhelming. I am personally a fan of the salmon salad, which comes with couscous and is nice and light. One thing to note is that I do not think the menu explicitly states that you can order a half portion of the salads. I usually do this because the full potion is huge. the half portion usually comes with the same amount of protein and less of everything else, which I appreciate. read more

Bb's is a place to go if you want to be seen. The decor is nice inside, but somewhat cramped table-wise. We ate some shrimp "lollipop" type appetizers, which were fried and didn't have a strong shrimp taste. I ordered a salad with "goat cheese croutons"; it was fine, nothing special for this type of restaurant, and the "croutons" were large round pieces of soft bread around the ouside, with goat cheese stuffed into the middle. I didn't care for texture, and the taste was really bogged down by the bread. Our service was fine, but not exceptional. Prices seemed a bit high, but I think we paid extra for the nice decor. Good for an expensive meet-and-greet with your work buddies or girlfriends, but not intimate enough for a nice dinner with my sweetie or special enough to visit very often. read more

The food was good. Desserts were great. Service was ok. Place was super packed and acoustics were terrible, which was made worse by the number of guests packed into the place. Staff is extremely friendly and the desserts are amazing. The entrees were interesting...I have a feeling they're either really good or not at all. I had the duck which I liked although it was slightly chewy. My boyfriend had the jambalaya pizza and he said it was really good. Dessert-wise we had the bread pudding which I loved and the tiramisu which was also amazing. It was a bit pricey so I'm not sure if I'd go back. Staff lacks personality would of given it a higher rating if the food had made up for it. We were not pleased at all, spent nearly $200 overall and honestly we should of stopped after the drinks came. This was my first visit and it was a great experience. I had the fried green tomato sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. The field green salad that came with it was very fresh and was complimented with a fabulous vinaigrette. I will definitely go back and order again. My wife had the warm goat cheese salad. Although it was very good, she was a bit disappointed that there was no goat cheese in the salad. It was baked into the bread that came with it. My friend had the mediterranean chicken salad and he loved it. His wife had the salmon salad and said the fish was cooked perfectly and she really enjoyed it. We split a piece of the red velvet cake/cheesecake. It was good but not a standout. The service was great and available throughout the meal. If I could give less than 1 star I would. To start the waiter had to be flagged down every time we needed something. He never asked if we needed any refills, condiments, etc. Then he misunderstood an order from someone in my party and told her "there's nothing I can do to fix that". Next when we wanted to split the check he turned around and shook his head in annoyance. I'm not sure why he was annoyed because he walked away with the mandatory 18% gratuity from our table totaling over $80. I wish I was done but alas there's more. When I spoke to the manager she didn't seem phased by it at all. I wish I could tell you which server handled our table but he never told us his name! We had been before but chose to get dessert to go. Colleen was very helpful and nice. My friend enjoyed their rocky road cake and I enjoyed my layered berry cake but I was disappointed that the sliced strawberries served with it were uncored, had pieces of leaf and appeared to be unwashed. Perhaps the most overrated bistro in Jax. It is exceedingly loud due to all of the hard surfaces and ceiling. The service is slow. The food is above average but the place is let down by ambiance. The other restaurant these folks own in Avondale is far better; not only in ambiance but in cooking. Out of all the times I've visited BBs today I feel was the worst as far as server and host wise. I am fairly new to Jacksonville and today was my second time at BB's. I don't typically leave reviews unless I've had a very negative experience but today's visit totally warrants this review! Myself and 6 of my co-workers were having a farewell lunch for one of our co-workers who is transferring to another office in another state. Our server, Joseph was the most attentive, professional, knowledgeable server that I believe I've ever had the pleasure of meeting in the 45 years I've been alive. Not to diminish the excellent quality of the food or the incredibly delicious dessert that we shared, but the service was top notch. It was apparent that Joseph has a fine dining background. From his knowledge of the specials, to the desserts, to the way my napkin was neatly folded on the table in front of my seat when I returned from the restroom, his excellence was noted every step of the way. Everyone at our table couldn't express enough how thoroughly impressed we were. I will definitely be back and I hope Joseph is there when I do because I will be requesting him. taking into consideration, the very reasonable lunch price point, we wanted to make sure Joseph knew how much we appreciated his excellent service so we all tipped him 25%-45%. I personally can't wait to tip him another 45%. He earned every penny! If you are fortunate enough to dine at BB's when he is working, you'll definitely want to request him as your server.
