We came in at 01:30 hoping to grab a beer and some crawfish. Understanding policy of alcohol being restricted at 2am. We were told we may order a beer but will be taken up if not finished by 02:15. Ten minutes later (1:50) we were denied any alcohol.. cool no problem. Now let's get to the crawfish, the restaurant was not busy but unfortunately our crawfish was being delayed. The crawfish is seasoned perfectly and is ACTUALLY spicy. All other crawfish I've tried in Houston I always wish had more of a kick to it but this one is the best! Went here on the late late night after the on the run concert it was Sunday night and packed. They initially told us it would be 15 to 20minutes but it took about 45 minutes. The locals say it's usually not that busy. I ordered the chickolean the machine po'boy. It reminds me of a chicken cheesesteak. It had major flavor. It was 3am and crowded so I took my food to go so I didn't have an opportunity to savor it. They use chicken chunks not chopped up chicken with queso cheese and the hoagie roll was soooo good. I've lived in Houston for nearly a decade and never once considered dining at BB's simply because I'm a Pappadeaux's addict. I've grown fond of Ragin' Cajun and other crawfish/crab spots over the years, but nothing compares to my beloved Pappadeaux's. That being said, I think I can safely add BB's Cafe to my lineup of cajun restaurants. None of my other options were open at 11pm on a Monday night and I was jonesing for gumbo, so I decided to roll the dice and give BB's a shot. My experience started off a little bumpy - the server didn't greet us, he got my order wrong, then started taking things off the table that belonged to us. I took it all with grace, but I was fully prepared to give BB's a 2-star rating....but there's a plot twist! While eating the wrong food (fried shrimp and fries), the server brings me a huge to-go bowl of shrimp gumbo and apologizes for all the mishaps. He explains that he was slammed and working alone. I couldn't thank him enough for going that extra mile to ensure my experience was a good one. I did not catch his name, but he officially made me a fan of the BB's chain. Went in with a few friends late at night. The space is a little cramped and the food was alright. Parking is a little difficult as it's in between a gas station and pizza place. My friend ordered catfish and fries which she enjoyed and my other friends ordered fried shrimp and hush puppies. We also got an order of boudin balls. Now those were probably the highlight of the entire meal. And oh let me not forget about the margaritas. That was pretty good. Tasty but expensive for what you get, and the service is often a little off-base. For example, they might forget to put in your appetizer order or the extra sides you ask for, but your dinner comes out super quick. One thing: servers should not rant about their tips. Being lectured on how much a patron should tip is unprofessional and unnecessary. The first times I came here was late at night after drinking at Kirby Ice House. I was so hungry I ordered the Catfish & Grits with 2 lbs of crawfish on the side and it was so damn good I craved it almost every day after that. Their cheesy grits are not your average grits; they have a nice season blend with corn. I finally got the chance to come back this past weekend and the food was just as good as the last time I stopped by. However It seemed like the portions wasn't as big as the last time I was here. I've tried BB's before and decided to go to this location after a concert to satisfy my cravings. My first-time experience here at this location was pretty bad: 1. Parking is a pain! Drove all around the area for 10 mins before finding a spot behind the restaurant. If you park at Valero or other restaurant lots, you risk yourself getting towed! 2. I went in with my brother and friend to a sign that said, "Please seat yourself", so we did. But as we sat down, they told us we have to get up and wait. If we weren't supposed to seat ourselves, then I think it'd be good to remove that sign from the entrance. 3. We asked for the wait time and was told they couldn't give us a time. So, we were like okay, I guess we'll wait a bit and see. Stood there for 20 mins & just as we were about to leave, they told us a table was ready and to seat ourselves. 4. That table had crawfish legs and food all over it so we waited another 3 mins for them to notice to clean it. 5. We waited another 5 mins before a server (whom we had to call) finally gave us menus. At this point, we were planning to leave because all this waiting was ridiculous, but then again, we waited so long and saw no point in leaving after all that time. (We should've left while we could) 6. Food took 30 mins to come out, but it tasted decent enough for me to allow that star up there. 7. After finish eating, my little brother stood at the register for 10 mins to pay and although there were literally 3 workers standing outside watching cars get towed, no one bothered to assist him. 8. The only good thing that came out of this experience was this one nice girl who picked up our plates and asked how we were. All in all, was the wait worth it all? Heck no. It was my brother's first time too & I was disappointed he didn't get to enjoy it as much as I did when I ate at a different location. Waste of $35 dollars for a mediocre sandwich and cup of gumbo that took longer to arrive than me walking 5 miles. Unless you don't mind WAITING for a lifetime, save your money and time and go to a different location with better service. I really do hate complaining because I understand that sometimes people are busy and things don't run smoothly as we want, but when there are people literally standing by as things are falling apart, that bugs me. read more

I had never been here before, but was joining a group of co-workers for a much-needed Happy Hour. We had a large table, and Johnquis seemed to be working the entire restaurant by himself - it was a Friday afternoon. He was a bit slow getting back to our table each time. Not really his fault since, again, he seemed to be alone. I had a couple of cocktails from the menu. The Ranch Water Cocktail only tasted of bitter water. Our table ordered some of the boudin balls, and they seemed to be something from the frozen foods section of the local grocery store. My co-worker ordered a salad, requesting the grilled chicken and no tomatoes. When she got it, the tomatoes were there and no chicken. The dressing she ordered seemed to have been put on in a minuscule amount. She picked out the tomatoes and, when Johnquis finally got back to our table, she reminded him about the chicken, which had to be cooked. 25 minutes later.... I ordered a second drink - the mango margarita. It was decent, but my co-worker ordered a margarita on the rocks, and Johnquis brought her a frozen one. Let's just say that the mediocre food and the absent-mindedness of the waiter will probably preclude me from returning. This location has fallen down tremendously in the last few months. In the past it was consistent quality and service. Now staff turnover is high and the food quality has suffered as well. They no longer serve hush puppies and shrimp gumbo may have shrimp in it or not. Management needs to get involved and bring this place up to the standards of the other locations. read more

I have come here for Crawfish probably 5-10 times this season, and if it wasn't for how great they were there is definitely no reason to ever stop here. For starters it takes a Christmas miracle to find parking (do not park at the gas station next door I've seen people get towed one after the other). The restaurant is hopelessly understaffed and don't be surprised if you wait at the door for 10-15 minutes without anyone greeting you. We've had to just walk up to the cash register 50% of the time, place our orders, and seat ourselves. Do not bother trying to call in an order as the wait staff let it ring off the hook. It's sad because BBs does have the best crawfish in town, but this location is so poorly run it almost ruins it. read more
