I brought my husband here and it was his first BCD experience. He thought I was overhyping the food, but he was wrong. We did our usual of over-ordering food. We got the fried dumplings, seafood pancake, kalbi combo, and teriyaki chicken combo. The dumplings were pretty good, but the seafood pancake was the star of the show. I wanna say BCD's seafood pancake is the best one I've ever had. Most seafood pancakes I've had are a lil soggy and soft in the middle, but this one was crispy all around. Such a good late night dinner!! After a long drive, we can trust BCD was open at 8:45 PM and the staff was so kind to welcome us in. They were able to seat our group of 3 quickly and get us set with menus and utensils. After taking our order, they quickly brought us side dishes and we each got a fried croaker. I love the side dishes they serve and they always taste fresh! We got kimchi, bean sprouts, raw marinated squid, japchae, iced pickles, and spinach. They also checked on us and refilled more of sides we ate a lot of. I got the combo which is so worth it, and I love having variety! It was my first time having the kimchi soup and it was good! The seafood pancake was also so crispy and perfect with the sauce they serve it with. Such a comforting meal! Great place for late night dining! Came here after an entire day at Disney's California Adventure and it was the perfect end to a fun day! I absolutely love their tofu soup and the variety of banchans they offer. The seafood pancakes were solid and satisfying. I also learned about sungnyung, a traditional Korean infusion made from the roasted rice crust that forms in a pot after cooking rice. It was my first time trying it and I thought it was really cool! I spoke to the manager Sue Kim about her letting other customers in before mine while my party of 6 have to wait for space to open up?!!!! I confronted her sneaking in 3 smaller groups despite the waitlist telling me I was 2nd in line! I am not pleased with restaurants not respecting proper sequence on the waitlist. Just a little bit on the oily side but still good. E11. Atka Mackerel was a good fish to compliment your meal. C1. Galbi Combo is always a must. The ribs were yummy marinated and tender. C6. Bibimbap Combo was delicious. Plenty of veggies in the bowl. Great to be shared. Soon Tofu soup is good. Plenty of tofu and meat. The taste of the broth was perfect and not overly spicy hot. Service was attentive and very nice. We received our items in a timely matter. The Mackerel fish took the longest. Last to be brought to our table when we've eaten almost all of our dishes. Restaurant is like any other Korean restaurant. Lots of tables indoor dining and a few tables outdoor dining. Havent been here in a while, but I came to eat saturday! I think a few months back, service was okay! One older lady was always nice to me whenever I came, but I dont remember her name. On saturday, she wore a face mask and glasses. LIKE. She was consistently so nice and always gave napkins, water, side dishes, and was always smiling xD She also remembers me somehow!!! This BCD location was okay. The soup was good at the restaurant but there was a very strong taste of butter when I reheated the leftovers at home... The galbi was soft to my liking and taste was good as well. There was already a line not even an hour into opening! Service was not the best but not the worst. The restaurant wasn't full and there were not enough workers. It was easier for me to go up to the counter to pay and ask for to go containers. This doesn't bother me but it would be nicer if there were more workers. When I went to a different BCD location, it also tasted like butter but it was worse because it tasted like not only butter but also kimchi juice and oil. 1st time I've been to this location, the foods & service is amazing! Went there around 6pm, waited only for 5-10 minutes till we got our table. The service was quick and the staff is nice. The place is not too big nor too small, it was nice and not too noisy, music level is good, so we still could have conversations with each other. The foods cooked perfectly..I do like the japchae (in a little bit of sweeter side) the seasoning is perfect, where at another place is in a savory side. Got the combo of short rib and tofu soup and it was a lot of food. The combo is definitely worth it as you get both items. You can't go wrong with the short ribs. Very tender and flavorful. The pork tofu soup is basic but very flavorful. The service was excellent as they were very attentive and refilled our side dishes many times. Stopped by here on a rainy day for a huge to go order. They were prompt and packaged everything. Love how much they give in the raw crab combo for raw crab. The galbi entree was sort of smaller than I thought for the price (I ordered two). I've stopped by here to eat since college and it felt like the typical BCD- clean and with the same interior. BCD Tofu House, is a chain, I've tried 4 different locations from Irvine to SGV. The Buena Park branch is not as busy as Irvine/Rowland Height's branch. The quality and speed is consistent across the franchise. Inflation: The prices certainly have been increasing every year since the pandemic. I can recall in 2019 the lunch portion meal was hovering around $11 and now it's $16. Yumminess: The comfort food -- especially on a cold night is just so welcoming. The venue is well lite with the large windows giving the the facade of a spacious layout. There's a handful of outdoor seatings, as well. The appetizers aka banchan are a feast in itself: kimchi, spinach, noodles, marinated fish cakes, bean sprouts, pickles and my favorite grilled fish! All but the fish, are eligible for "fill up" or seconds (or thirds)! The boiling tofu broth topped with our favorite -- seafood or beef is a must! I would go recommend going for the medium spicy level to appreciate the taste. Never learned, I alway opt for hot -- to subconsciously clear my sinuses or my desire to burn my tongue! The boiling soup is "cool-off" by cracking a raw egg on top. The meal commences with the stirring of the egg within the soup and pour it over the clay-potted cooked rice. Haven't had BCD tofu in a while and was excited to be eating here. The regret was ordering their organic soybean noodles, with the galbi combo. First the galbi was great as the meat was flavorful and delicious. This was the best part of the meal. The downside was want to try their organic soybean noodles(got the buckwheat noddles) The base of the soup was very thick and to me tasted like a thick mochi dessert and lacked flavor. The noodles were not great and I could not finish the bowl as I stated to feel queasy. When I ordered the meal the waitress kept pointing at the soybean noodles picture on their menu and I could understand her. I think she said it contains bits of soybean in the dish?? Give me tofu soup anytime! Growing up in a Korean household, soondubu was one of the primary dishes that my family and I ate. To this day, I still enjoy a piping hot bowl of soondubu. My parents and I sometimes make a stop here to eat lunch before they shop for groceries at Hanam Chain next door. The banchan (side dishes) are delicious, and the soondubu is even more delectable. Lunch hour during the weekends can be busy, so I suggest coming in at around 11:00 AM to get your fix. Downgrade version of Kaju From 20+ years ago to now, I think their tofu soup changed as BCD was my tofu soup go to place unless location matters of how it tastes. Pro: -Longer hour so when Kaju was closed, this was our only option on Xmas day -More option to choose from -Kids menu available -More parking spaces available Cons: -Tofu soup is not good compared to Kaju.
