I love this place, ever since we used to come with the kids and be able to see a film, order a pizza, and still come up short of what we'd pay at a big theater. Now we still sometimes come for dinner or lunch -- certain out-of-town friends insist on the Popeye's pizza as their first stop -- but we also enjoy Art Mondays and love to have a meal together in a booth. I know this place has the same pizzas as Moose's Tooth, but I LOVE Beartooth's burritos. The steak chimichurri burrito is sooo good! I think the wait is actually a bit better than Moose's Tooth. As far as the theater goes, it's a nice change from movie night at home and beats going to a regular pricey theater as the food is good, the beer is delicious and nothing beats the ability to get buzzed, walk out during the middle of a movie you've probably already seen to order a caramel turtle fudge ice cream pie. I've loved Bear Tooth for ever and typically always got the Blackened Cod Burrito. I hadn't been in awhile and went the other day and saw they changed a few things on the menu. Ordered the burrito and was incredibly disappointed. The change is just not good. I miss the way it was. What a super cool spot! Looking for a brunch spot on a Saturday is tough because everyone's in the same boat. In fact, my friend and I hit up Snow City beforehand and opted out of waiting 45 mins and just drove here. What a great idea, too! There was no wait and around 10:15 am there were lots of empty tables. Of course over the coming hour they filled up but it was nice to be eating an awesome meal knowing that if we had stayed on the other side of town we'd still be waiting to hear our names get called. I had a breakfast burrito and it rocked my world. Super tasty! My friend is all about salsas and sauces and remarked how relieved he was that they had more than just Tabasco. While they don't have a sauce shelf like some other spots, they did have 4 or so options that did the trick. I hear great things about not just the brunch but the dinner, the beer and the theater. Theater Pubs are the only type of cinemas I go out of my way to watch a film at. Why? ::: My Reasons: The Short List ::: 1) Over 21* 2) Libations 3) Decent Food * This theater actually does have an under-21 section for the kiddos though. And now for the Bear Tooth I was surprised to see how hustling and bustling the joint was! It was hard to find parking out front (well, just park on the side...NOT across the street because you WILL get towed). The Bear Tooth is not ONLY a theater, but also has its own restaurant (it was packed and I believe I saw people going here JUST for the restaurant). There is also a store inside which sells Bear Tooth paraphernalia. But the Theater Pub is where it's at. Of all the theater pubs I've been to, this theater has the BEST food---hands down. From pizza to burritos, you are going to find flavors you won't find anywhere else. The food definitely feels like "real" food (nothing frozen or from a box). And they have tons of cool options to choose from. At this theater, after you buy your ticket, head to the food counter. Check out the formidable menu and then make your order. (They'll bring it to you in the theater.) Once in the theater, find a spot to sit, and then get ready for your next mission: Drink. In the back corner of the theater you will find a bar! This was a first for me. Back here you can order some wine, or choose from a plethora of good beers on tap. Broken Tooth Brewing is connected with the theater, so many of their beers are on tap. You can even order a sampler---but you are limited to how many glasses you can carry (coreyg, yours truly, managed four glasses, btw. Yeah, I have big hands ladies.) Food:::CHECK Beer:::CHECK Now you are ready to watch a movie in the lap of luxury. One thing I really liked about this theater was their film selections. They had some mainstream stuff on schedule, but what really got me going were the independent/foreign films they had on tap. It's official-- this is my favorite place in Anchorage. Its fun, friendly and delicious. The. food. is. so. good. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Highlights are the Rosemary Burger (it's loaded with bacon and goat cheese) and the Peanut Noodles (swap the tofu for chicken and the noodles for coconut rice and you'll thank me for changing your life). Bear Tooth Theater movies are a must. They're only $4.00 ... whaaat??! You can drink beer and fresh, house-made margaritas(!!!!) while eating mouthwatering pizza and watching a flick. It doesn't get much better than that. It truly really makes me wonder why more places like this don't exist in the world. First Tap is also a must. We try to make it to every Beer Tooth concert even if we're not a huge fan of the band, because the concerts are just that great. No seats and it tends to get pretty sweaty, so put on your dancing shoes and wear something lightweight. Lets be honest, skip the touristy lines at Moose's Tooth, cause Bear Tooth is where it's at. Do not pass up the Bear Tooth. This place is great and I've never been anywhere quite like it. Cheap movies, good food, and self-brewed beer! What else does one need? There is too much good about this place that I could go on and on. If you don't care to see a movie there is a sit down restaurant portion and the food is excellent and not overly pricey. As far as the theater portion expect to wait in line- almost a quarantee. However, this is an excellent time to get some food ordered up. They'll bring it right out to your table when it's ready. The movie selection is great with everything from family friendly flicks to the occasional independent film (hello, "Let the Right One In"? Awesome). Recently watched "Step Brothers" there and it was a riot because the crowd was so into it. beer + comedy = great times The beer is also top-notch and the same as found over at the sister establishment, Mooses Tooth. You can pull up the menu at their website and get a good idea of what you'll order when you get there. If you haven't been before: After you get your movie ticket (which is only $3.00), go up to the counter and place your food & drink order. They'll hand you a cone with reflecto numbers on it that they can see in the dark and they'll deliver it to your table as you enjoy the movie. A must for locals and tourists alike. My boyfriend used to live down the street from BT and we often talk about how we would move back just so we can go there every day (if you're closer to Moose's Tooth, do that too!). Every dish, and I mean every dish, is spectacular. Whether you want a pizza or burger from the theatre side, or a fancier pasta or meat dish from the grill side, whatever you order you will love. From the grill side, my favorite is the pesto ravioli. From the theatre side, pizza pizza pizza during your movie! The salmon burrito is one of my favorites as well. If there are seasonal specials, get whatever it is. A-MAZ-ING. And the beer, oh man. The owners originally started Moose's Tooth because they wanted a place to brew their own beers. They have continued doing just that and boy are they talented. We would usually order our food to go and get a growler of whatever beer was on special, but they're all good. I can honestly say there is nothing about the Bear Tooth I don't like. Maybe the crowds, but hey, can't really blame them there. I might have to move back to Anchorage. read more

What an interesting place! It's a pub, grill, and theater! Pretty much has everything one could want to do in a Friday night. They have a large variety of beers as well as a four page menu. The atmosphere was very casual which was nice after a long day of meetings. The food overall was pretty good with reasonable prices (~$15/dish) and large portion sizes. How have I missed writing a review about such a gem of a place? Tsk, tsk. Bear Tooth is great. There is always something for someone here (though it does lean on the hippy side for you corporate boys). There's the main restaurant which is a little more formal, but still jeans appropriate. You get a larger menu and still feel good about supporting the locals. Or you could go to the other, more casual restaurant. I enjoy this side better for a few reasons: 1) less crowded 2) cheaper food 3) service tends to be a little faster. Or lastly, you can get concession food and have them bring it to you while you watch a movie. Fantastic. And the fact that those of you old enough to drink alcohol CAN if you sit upstairs--icing on the cake. The beer is provided by the mother ship (Moose's Tooth) and is always a crowd pleaser. The movies tend to be indie or old re-runs and considering the cheap ticket prices, there should be no complaints. Plus, they often do marathons which can make for a long, but happy outing. As I said earlier, this is a place that has a little bit for everyone. If you're on a first date and want to keep it semi-casual, the main dining is perfect. Once you're a little more comfortable with each other, finish off a day of hiking at the pub side for a casual meal. And when you guys know each other really, REALLY well, show her how frugal you are and take her to the movies upstairs and splurge on yummy beer. :) read more

I'm swaggering (literally) between giving Bear's Tooth four or five stars. The food is not fabulous but it's not bad. You can definitely appreciate the taco's here and halibut burritos. It's Alaska, they've got the fresh fish thing down! Having the option to drink beer while watching a movie AND eating dinner in public, priceless. This is such a great concept and my first time experience so I am loving it. Maybe if I were a local it would get old but I'm not. Seeing "Horton Hears A Who" while mowing down on food and slushing back beers was the best way to end my visit. The service was good and super friendly. The seating is comfortable. $3 for a movie and buying some cheap food was the best buy I made during my trip. There's really nothing to complain about. I wish I were there right now. read more

I dream about the Bear's Tooth spicy thai pizza. In fact, it's listed on my Yelp profile as the last meal I hope to eat. I still remember my first First Tap... it's whatever happened afterwards that I don't remember. Unfortunately, I also remember the next day at work. But i still love the place and it was a great experience. I love the food here. I miss the garlic & cilantro fries. I love being able to eat pizza and drink beer while watching some flicks. Must be an Anchorage thing. Pizza, breadsticks, and a movie! We ordered the Amazing apricots and classic half and half pizza, along with our breadsticks. Plus 2 beers of course! Overall, I thought the apricot on the pizza was pretty amazing indeed and good. It's not to say my mind was blown away by any means. Breadsticks was good, but definitely over-kill to order it on our part. Too much food! The breadsticks came along with some ranch and chipotle mayo -- overall if I wanted to carb load I know what to order. The other half of our pizza the Classic was pretty basic; it is what it is. Overall, the place starts off like any movie theatre, but the concession stands is like a fast food restaurant. I think it's a unique concept and it seems this idea of having restaurant and movie theatre together is gaining steam all over the country. Some fancier than others. Cool experience I would say and definitely something I would do again if I had a bigger appetite or just some fun with the family - Enjoy! read more

Really Really Fun. I went to Bear's tooth to watch a film and get some dinner with my girlfriend. A great date spot. The screen was surprisingly large, and the atmosphere was different and friendly. They bring the food to your seat while you watch the film! $3 movie, 75 cents for guacamole, and delicious in-house beer! Loved it. read more

Oh my goodness, they put cilantro in almost everything here. No bueno! I hate cilantro. I originally came for the fish tacos, but the sauce had cilantro in it and I wasn't trying to just have the fish, plain, in the tortilla wrapper. So I ended up having the caesar salad and seafood chowder. The seafood chowder was pretty yummy. The caesar salad was not really good. It was so sour for some reason? Expired dressing perhaps? I don't know what the issue was, but it was super disappointing. I tried a few pieces of the mussels, but It was hard for me to eat since that had cilantro bits in the sauce too. The sauce was good, but the cilantro definitely ruined it for me. Overall, not a cilantro hater friendly place--- just not for me. My fiance had their burger and said it was a bit dry. He had to dump the whole thousand island sauce over it to make it moist. read more

Place was packed on a Tuesday! Good Beer! Habanero Chicken Skewers were over cooked, sent back. Came back still hard, could only eat 2. Shared one with a bartop neighbor and same, thought it was too tough. Blackened Fish Tacos were great!!! The flavor, flakiness, and the FRIES! Incredible. Service was good, not great. One bartender was really on top of things. She hustled fast, knew the most and commanded the whole area. The other two "helpers" were okay. They could have had my skewers comped or something. The ambience is fair. I was hoping that the Moose's Tooth decor would carry over. I think the people that designed this place used to design cheap cafes or diners. Great theater with food. My all-time favorite movie establishment! My little brother moved up to Alaska for College, big change from being born and raised in Santa Cruz California. The first winter I went to visit him he took me to get dinner and a movie and he told me that I could eat in the theater. I thought this is awesome, so I ordered the blackened halibut burrito and got a huge drumstick, both were fantastic,a and cheap. The next time I went to Alaska my mother came and we all went to the Bear Tooth one night. My mother and I sat down at the bottom where they serve the best beer! Nothing better than a beer, burrito and a movie. The only down fall is most of the movies they show I have already seen at least two months prior, but I still enjoy the food. My brother says during the summer they have concerts there for 21 and up. read more

Oh my God do I love this place. The food is fantastic, and unlike so many restaurants in town, they know what "vegetarian" means (hint: chicken is not a vegetable). So fun, so comfortable, and my mouth salivates just thinking about their beer (I am not even a beer person!). My favorites: seven layer dip, nutty little pesto treats, the salads, burritos and pizzas okay the whole menu ... topped off with a Spenard Night Life. Mmmmmmm. It's so popular that it can be hard to actually get in. Not a place you can just pop into and grab a quick bite. Eating here involves a significant amount of time unless it's to go (their to go staff turn things over really quick). Some of their food tends to lean towards more healthy things which leaves a certain void of crunchy, tasty things that one might like to go with their entrees. All this being said, The Bear Tooth in a rarity in Anchorage or in any city. Know this place and you'll know that it's your favorite. read more

Waitress passed once , checks on other table, twice, checks on other table, three, four, five, six, seven ... 15 minutes go by and I'm about to just leave, finally by the mercy of God she arrives. ... Ok sometimes bad service can be bypassed by good food. Was this people off tonight or what? Taco salad brought to us. Wohoo... It smells good!!! Omg!!! I want to die!!! More food in this town that taste like nothing. I don't think I can take it!!! The meat was insipid!!! Did they forget to condiment it? Did they forget how to make steak? I am writing a review for the Theater side. For a theater, this is awesome. $4 movies where we can buy some beer and have pizza delivered to our seat. Awesome. The pizza is good, but does lack options for crust. Moose's Tooth (The other restaurant) has the full menu of both beers and pizza options. I'd recommend checking out some of the events they have here. Concerts, specialty movies, classic movies, and of course the movie selection is always changing. If you don't want to go to the theater but want pizza, they have restaurant seating near the lobby. It is a cheap place for food before you hit the town. The only reason I'm docking a star is because I don't find the seating that comfortable and the movie selection can be kind of bad (Of course, as any theater, you pick the movies you watch). Often times I find myself wondering when a movie is going to end so I can stretch my back. read more

This place is wonderful! really good food and they play movies that aren't quite out on video yet but arent in theatres. its $3 a ticket and you can order your food and theyll bring it to you in the movie..perfect idea! there's a 21+ section and they have lots of beer on tap and they have the upstairs for family and also a booth section that you need to reserve ahead of time. This review is very very specific. It's for the Beartooth Theater Cafe and their OUTSTANDING Broiled AK Cod burrito. I grew up in San Francisco, the home of the California style burrito and I lived in LA home of some of the most amazing fish tacos (sorry San Deigo), but this Alaskan creation could throw down with anything I've had. It has the perfect mix of fish to beans to rice. They have also utilized the super secret method of softening the tortilla. In California this is does through steaming, though i think here the extra time it takes to get the burrito (whether ordering in the theater or too go) does the softening/steaming process on it's own. We've also eaten on the restaurant side (solid chips and salsa choices, meh tacos) and had a few other offerings on the theater cafe side (the gyro flat bread was solid, the broiled salmon was so awful in sweetness we couldn't finish it). But it is the cod burrito which makes all other experiences fall away to it's utter bliss. read more

I was headed to the airport and had a couple of hours to burn so I Yelped a place to eat and have a nice beer. The Bear Tooth came up with great reviews and 0.1 miles away. What a wonderful experience!!! An Alaskan gem. The jalapeño poppers were totally awesome! I am from Texas and have had the best and have made the best poppers I thought until the Bear Tooth! OK, I have to eat crow that we lost our claim to fame as the largest state in 59. But I hate to let it be known that we lose our king of the popper to Alaska too!!! But I am an honest man. And these poppers are GOOD!! Then to top it off the fish tacos were literally the best I have ever had as well as the hand crafted beer. Am I a traitor to my native Texas the state I am so proud of and to be from? Dang it, Bear Tooth! You make me confused. But thank you for a wonderful experience. We keep coming back to this place. VERY kid friendly. Awesome place to have dinner while watching a movie. Food is excellent.. The tickets to the movie are very cheap. If you go to the late nite movie, sometimes they don't clean the floor and tables properly and can be sticky. If you want the family "private" tables you must get there early. Best idea ever. We had a 1:30am flight out of Anchorage. It was raining. What to do? Eat, drink, and watch Star Trek in 3-d for $5! We had already been to Moose's Tooth, and I was a fan of the pizza. I opted for a half chicken and ranch and chicken barbecue pizza although I couldn't tell what was what in the dark. Luckily, I easily found the bar in the back of the theater and the 24oz amber ale. I don't know if you have to, but we ordered food while we waited in line, and set up our cone so they could find us in the dark. My food came maybe 30 minutes in, and my husband's halibut tacos came within an hour. Note on the tacos: It says flour tortillas on the menu, but ask, and they will swap for corn. I also recommend getting what beer you want before the show starts. There was quite a line when we were first allowed in the theater, but it's worth it so you don't have to get up half-way through the show. You can reserve booths in the back, closer to the bar, but I loved our seats. We got to the place 45 minutes before the show, and with maybe 30 people in front of us, we still nabbed excellent seats. I'm so angry this type of thing doesn't happen closer to me. It combines a lot of loves in all one place. read more
