One of our friends had recommended this spot when I was planning my conference trip to NOLA. No regrets! It's much easier going alone so that you don't have to wait as long and can just walk up to the bar. I got a seat right away and decided on start on a lavender honey latte, it hit the spot for me. It took me a while to decide what I wanted but thankfully I looked at the other reviews and knew I had to try the Cat Daddy biscuit (which was a chicken, crawfish gravy and egg on a delicious biscuit). He replied that everything was good and that it depended on what I was looking for. I then asked what the most popular item was, and again he said, "Everything." Or maybe I broke the law, I don't know! Anyways, I ordered the lapsang souchong tea, it did, in fact, taste like a tree, as promised. But I do recommend their specialty lattes! For my main I ordered the scallops and grits, and it was a very tough decision. But woah! I've never had grits this creamy. Sooo creamy. The BBQ sauce was good, and all four scallops were good. I didn't like the bread they served it with, which is weird, but no one can be perfect. I also had a pancake, which was also very good. Their specialty pancakes are also very good. I'm a big Bearcat fan, so I definitely recommend visiting either location for a special occasion, to justify the price that is. The vibe of Bearcat CBD is similar to the Uptown location, maybe a little more industrial chic. There's more separation between you and other patrons I feel, but you're not totally separate- you can hear their conversations if you're trying, but don't do that. I had one of the best brunches ever at Bearcat!! We went early-ish on a Friday since we were expecting it to be busy, but got seated within 5-10 minutes at around 9 am. The space was much bigger than we realized, with indoor areas on the first and second floors and outdoor courtyard seating when the weather allows. It looks like one of those typical, more expensive casual brunch spots but the food actually meets the price! I ordered the cat daddy chicken biscuit sandwich and every bite was perfection. The biscuit was buttery and moist, and the chicken somehow crispy despite being drenched in cajun gravy. The gravy was such a stand out for me - savory, flavorful, and delicious. I was stuffed by the end of the plate, but simply had to keep eating as I could not leave such a good bite on the plate. We also got a plate of fruit to split for some freshness, and the slight minty taste they somehow got on the fruit was very refreshing.
