I came here for lunch during the work week. I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered an iced coffee and burger. The server forgot my coffee and brought it over when my burger came out. Because of the delay, it was on the house. When a restaurant messes up and takes ownership, it says a lot about the establishment and is the way it should be in the hospitality industry. Now on to the food. The iced coffee was decent, but I'm somewhat of a coffee snob. The burger was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the fries were nice and crispy. My whole dining experience was about 25 minutes, which is perfect when you need to get back to work. read more

The Kung pao Brussel sprouts were - seriously - the best brussel sprouts I've ever had. The cocktails are amazing. Not too sweet, not too bitter. And the bartender knows what she's doing. Love Beatrix! Went here for brunch a couple weeks ago and it was super tasty! We got a couple entrees to split and share. We got the burger, the chicken tinga, steak, and pot roast sandwich. They were all cooked really well and delicious! They have a super large array of food to choose from. The seating area is nice and it's a beautiful space. We had a bit of a mishap where one of our tortillas came with something weird attached to them but they came back eventually with replacements. Service was a bit slow but they were pretty slammed so I can't fault them much for that. Would definitely come back! read more

I've been to the River North location a few times and love it. We tried the Streeterville location since we could get a reservation at the time we needed. They are somewhat new and it appears they are still working out some of their kinks. Service was okay. It was a bit slow up front at the hostess stand, but otherwise okay. Our waiter was friendly although seemed a bit overworked on tables and didn't really check in on us until we were almost done. The food itself was spot on. The waffles, chicken tinga and of course the maple bacon were awesome! The drinks left much to be desired. First, they were pricey. My biggest complaint is the spicy bloody mary. It was very unbalanced with far too much acidity. After the first few sips, I felt like I was eating a lemon. The lemon overpowered everything and we left brunch on a somewhat sour note. With some time and improvement, it has the potential to be as awesome as the River North location. That being said, it needs to do more to earn 4 stars. read more

Beatrix is pricey but has a great buffet at certain locations. I usually eat from the buffet if I need a meal at work and I enjoy their variety! Their food is delicious, but is a higher price than most other restaurants that serve similar meals. read more

Came back to try the brunch. I had the green chili enchiladas and they were awesome- great flavor to the sauce, filled with scrambled eggs and poblano peppers. Filling but not too heavy. Also had a bite of the lemon ricotta pancakes. These were so light and soft, with a fantastic lemon flavor. I was inspired to look up recipes so that I can try to recreate this pancake at home. Upbeat, vibrant weekday lunch! My husband and I split the Supernatural Chopped Salad and the Warm Pot Roast Sandwich. The salad was luscious, fresh, with so many flavors and textures! The peaches in the salad were not overpowering at all and added just the right amount of sweet. The pot roast sandwich was juicy, not soggy, and very flavorful! Here. Again. I really like this place. The menu is great and a nice variety. The food is quite good. The fruit smash drinks, excellent salads, butternut squash soup, terrific burgers. My wife ordered the lobster risotto - very good. The desserts are ridiculous. Caramel pie, pumpkin chiffon pecan pie. A fudge mouse cake. Intelligentsia Black Cat espresso nitro. My friends have been telling me to check this place out for months, for brunch, and finally was able to go. It's located in Northwestern Hospital so it can be a bit confusing to find. I made the mistake of choosing a high top table and those tables are unfortunately located by the door, which isn't bad for the summer but on a cold Chicago day it was the worst, but the food was good. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and the chicken sausage, it didn't come with maple syrup but with a lemon syrup or something, regardless it made the pancakes that much more flavorful. I can speak for all Beatrix, but I know the Streeterville brunch did not disappoint. read more

Beatrix is a please-all brunch spot no matter what you're hungry for. The brunch menu today had standard egg dishes and breakfast sandwiches but also included a couple salads, a poké bowl, and a burger. I loved my salmon caesar salad while my other table mates enjoyed typical breakfast foods. Beatrix has a full coffee bar and we enjoyed house cold brew and nitro cold coffee on a warm day. Very overrated to a surprising extent. Seems like the brunch crowd loves this place, but dinner was a huge disappointment. A $17 mushroom farroto was very bland and flavorless. Cauliflower salad was also lacking in flavor. Fries were fine but that's not very difficult to mess up. My date's wine was served in a dirty glass. Definitely would pass on this place, it's not up to the quality that reviews would indicate. And certainly not up to the quality of their pricing. read more

My family of 3 came here for Restaurant Week 2018. We had reservations on a Friday at 5:30 PM and it was already pretty bustling, but we still got seated right away. The place is fairly large and inviting with the somewhat dim lighting. The coffee & bakery side was very lively with many people happily conversing sipping away. The restaurant side was also pretty relaxed, but busier with more diners. They have their kitchen bright and open, so you could see some of the cooks hard at work making their masterpieces. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. It took us a while to decide. After some back and forth and realizing that we came specifically for Restaurant Week, we had to order from that menu. Yelp had some many reviews and pictures of the Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts, so we had to get that. It had quite a kick, but the asian flavor made it hard to stop eating it. Plus, when I did stop eating it, I could feel my mouth burning, but it was definitely a good, worth it type of burn. The Pot Roast Filet Mignon was incredible. It was fall off the bone tender and full of savory flavor. The caramelized onions, mushrooms and potatoes were the perfect sides to go with it. It was large enough for sharing. The Oh My! Carmel Pie was AMAZING! It literally makes you say "Oh my!" or "Oh wow!" at that first bite. We were so stuffed, but it was so delectable with the right amount of caramel sweetness that kept us saying "just one more bite". The remaining was just as good the next day. The entire meal was just the perfect amount for the 3 of us. The other healthy and hearty menu items sound pretty good and are reasonable priced. We are looking forward to returning to try more items. Since the Pot Roast was such a popular item, they had just run out to grab more. We only had to wait about 30 minutes (which went fast because we couldn't decide at first) But since we still had to wait, the manager gave us a 3 pastries on the house to take home. It was a tasty raspberry tart, a coconut cookie and the 3rd that I'm blanking on right now. They were perfect snacks for the next day. That was a very nice gesture and a great way to close out a very fulfilling meal. read more

I met a friend for lunch yesterday at Beatrix, and we could not have had a better experience. Every person we interacted with seemed genuine and eager to ensure we had a good experience. Our server, Lauren, was well versed in the menu items (from coffee to pastries, to entrees), and was totally on top of everything we needed. The food itself was amazing--I had the butternut & apple soup and hennepin fries, my friend had a type of giant ravioli. We both also had coffee (malted freddo and a drip) and cookies. Literally everything was amazing--the food was flavorful and fresh, the coffee was well prepared. Let me just talk a minute about the coffee--I've worked in the coffee industry for 7+ years, and currently manage my own cafe. It is hard to come by a good restaurant that also has an impeccable coffee program, yet Beatrix does this well. I clearly can't say enough about my experience, good job on management there, you have an amazing staff you should be extremely proud of. I will definitely be back! read more

I came to this place for brunch with two of my friends. The food and mimosas were good, although when the server was bringing in the first round of mimosas one of them spilled on the table. I've been twice- friendly staff, great food, fun bakery side. I like that the menu has lots of options from healthy (lots of hearty salads) to indulgent. Something for everyone. I also like that there are several fresh juice and mocktail options so for non-drinkers, you're not stuck with water or soda. Side note- first time I went with a friend, our server accidentally mis-described a menu item. It turned out to be no big deal, but he felt so bad that he sent over free cookies- really nice and really unexpected (and totally unnecessary because the snafu was not the slightest bit of a problem). If you are looking for a healthy and delicious breakfast, I would recommend this restaurant. We started with a power greens juice and the mango, orange, and pineapple nectar. Both were very good. We ordered the pepper and egg white sandwich, as well as the cauliflower grits with a side of whole wheat toast. Everything was delicious and very flavorful, with just the right portion size. They offer a variety of dishes that had a 'healthier' or 'cleaner' spin to them without compromising flavor, which is hard to do these days. Nice, rustic ambiance with friendly staff. Our waitress was very helpful and responsive. We started with a Blue Tom Collins which was too good to just sip...it needs to be in a 32oz Big Gulp cup. Wife had a Black Cherry Sangria that was mildly tart with a lot of flavor depth. We started with fries that were combined with fried red jalapeño, lemons, and another mild pepper. Delicious...and the thinly sliced fried lemons brought everything together. I got the Cauliflower and Apple soup which was just whatI needed being out in the cold drizzle. Really really loved this place - I don't give five stars often, but when the food is great, and the service and quality are amazing, a review deserves some fanfare. The ambiance is upscale but relaxed, with a modern wood theme, and both a formal dining room, and a bar/coffee bar area. We came here for dinner during our last night in Chicago, based on previous reviews. Definitely one of the highlights of our night was our server, who was absolutely fantastic. He was attentive, consistently refilled our waters, had a sense of humour etc. etc. If for nothing else, the service was worth coming back for (I really wish I remembered his name). In terms of food, me and my friend started with the hummus and warm naan (6.95), and our server provided an extra portion of bread - anticipating that we would run out (which we did). I ordered the crispy kale salad (kale, pumpkin seeds, dates, parmesan, white balsamic vinaigrette - $11.95) plus a serving of pan fried salmon ($5). It was enormous and really delicious! The flavours were great, and I loved the dressing that they used. The salmon was also well done. My friend ordered the escarole and potato ravioli ($16.95) which is literally just one big ravioli with a side of asparagus. I had a bite, and it was really good! Really cheesy with tons of stuffing. We ended our meal with the Oh My! Caramel Pie ($7.95), which has a shortbread crust. It was good, but a little bit too sweet for me and my friends' taste. We shared a piece, smaller portion probably would've satisfied both of our sweet tooths. The creme fraiche on the side really complemented the dessert though, since it balanced out the sweetness. I really enjoyed my late lunch at Beatrix in streeterville. With the added advantage of it being super close to my school, the food here is reasonably priced and also delicious. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes which were amazing! The pancakes were light but succulent and the ricotta made sure the cakes remained light and creamy. SO GOOD! The Hubs and I were in town for the 4th of July and we ventured in here for some lunch. I got the arugula salad and added salmon and it was delicious; the pears are just enough sweet to balance everything else! Service was great too.
