This place deserves nothing less than five stars. For the price you pay, the portion and sides are unbelievably big - especially today as prices are going up. I got the steak tips with fries and a Caesar salad. The salad could have practically been a meal itself! The flavors on everything were absolutely perfect too. We ordered the sweet potato fries with fluffernutter sauce - oh man, was that a delicious treat! The mushrooms in my steak tip entree were the best I've had. My steak tips were over cooked, but I don't fault them with that because I don't think I've been to a restaurant where tips were cooked just right. Being so small that's hard to do! My wife got the same but with the loaded baked potato, which was to die for. Our waitress was nice, fast, and attentive. We visited Beechwood on a hot summer weeknight. It was quite busy, the parking lot was full, and we were given a 35 minute wait time at check in. We found a recently opened spot at the bar, ordered and received our drinks, and missed the text that our table was ready (10-15 minutes, not 35). We went back to the host and they said it was not a problem and seated us immediately. Our server was friendly, and it was a bit noisy, but not overwhelming. The food itself was all good, but not amazing. The broccoli came out cold (server heated it back up at our request), the beef tips were over (we had planned for this and ordered them more rare than we intended), the street corn mahi mahi was flavorful but over cooked, the beechwood mushroom were very good. The sweet potato fries with fluffernutter sauce ended up being dessert as it was too sweet to eat with the meal- a real sweet treat! Recently made a pit stop at Beechwood Grill en route to Northern Michigan and had a great experience. It was late, about 45 minutes to close and we hadnt eaten all day. The ladies at Beechwood welcomed us with open arms! They had an awesome menu with unique items, and a great beer list as well. I had the California Club wrap with fries. Upon leaving a busy Ottawa Beach, the three of us dropped in here for a late lunch. It was our first visit and had heard that it is good. We usually see many people sitting out on the deck. We were able to get a booth by a window (which helps since it's darkish inside) promptly and our waitress was friendly and helpful. Their menu has many interesting items and it was hard to choose. My wife ordered the mahi sandwich while I got the lake perch tacos. The fries or homemade chips that came with it are very good. Our choices proved to be good ones. My fish tacos (can choose 2 or 3), while prepared well, could have used more perch. Our friend ordered the olive burger which she thoroughly enjoyed. Found this little gem on our anniversary, was very busy but worth the wait. The waitress made some recommendations and they were awesome. I had the Boursin Steak with loaded bake potato and side salad. I also had the pain killer and the drink called dangerous waters and WOW it's dangerous alright, lol. This was our third or fourth time at Beechwood Grill and every time we go we have a good time. The food is very good and the prices are reasonable and you cannot beat the atmosphere and the view when you are sitting outside. It is directly across from Macarawa Lake and not far from the beach. We both had burgers and they were big and juicy, more than enough to feed that hungry appetite. We always look forward to going to Beechwood Grill when we are in Holland. read more

This place is a primo first class act!! We ate there during Tulip Fest and they were jam packed. We had about a 45-minute wait for a table and once we were seated and had placed our order, our food never appeared. However, our waitress appeared several times to tell us that she was still waiting on our order and they were terribly backed up in the kitchen. We told her we understood and it was not a problem. When the food finally did arrive, it was worth the wait. The fried perch was the best you will find anywhere, as were the fish tacos. As we were eating our meal the manager came over to our table and told us she was not going to charge us for the meal because they failed to meet their own standards and thanked us for being such patient customers. I ordered the $33 Delmonico steak, medium rare. Once home, I found not only the steak cooked super well done, it wasn't a Delmonico. It looked more like a skirt steak. Not even half inch thick. It was too far to drive back and ruin our dinner over, but shame on you guys for serving that miserable cut of meat and charging what you do. It was tough, bland and there were barely 6 mushrooms. Our family dined at Beechwood Grill this past weekend and were not at all impressed. The Good: To start, we had a big party of 8 and were seated right away upon arrival, which was nice. There seems to be plenty of parking. The restaurant had a great ambiance. The appetizers we ordered (loaded potato skins and pretzel bites with beer cheese) were delicious. Other items that were enjoyed at the table were the filet and pot roast. The Bad: Our waitress was terrible. Service was minimal at best, and there were lengthy gaps of time between requests (refills, orders, etc) and actual deliverance. There was a table who came in and ordered after us, yet they received their entrees before we even received our appetizers. She did not know the drink menu at all. My brother asked about two different drinks (both beer), and she had to go ask someone what type of alcohol it was. Not ONE dish was removed from the table until after we received our check and paid. Not one empty glass, not one dirty appetizer dish, not one used salad plate. (Remember that we were a party of 8! There was a ton of clutter on the table.) We had to request refills instead of her bringing them automatically, and it was a while before they arrived. The food took forever (over an hour) to arrive after we ordered. There was one period of 40 mins or so that we could not find our waitress at all. She never once apologized for (any of) the delay(s). My filet was prepared well but completely tasteless. I actually wondered if they had completely forgotten to season it. I had to douse it in A1 sauce. The horrible service trumps (some of) the tasty food, so we will not be returning nor recommend this restaurant. read more

We loved this restaurant! Traveling and eating out with a 1 & 4 year old is no small feat. We were seated quickly (only issue with the restaurant was the host stand was slow to get to customers and didn't check us in in order). Our waitress Rachel was SO sweet and welcoming to our girls. She even offered to wait to bring the lemonade until the food arrived, what a saint! The food was fast, I'm talking 5 minutes fast. Were the pretzels handmade? The burger was good, ordered medium and personally it was too pink for my liking. Fries were fantastic. Husband thought the burrito was good, not as flavorful or spicy as others he's had elsewhere. Arrived before our party so my wife and I sat at the bar. I asked how their Bloody Mary's were and was told their mixer was made in house and had a bit of a "zip". It had less zip and flavor than plain tomato juice (not even sure how that's possible). Bar tender blamed it on my choice of spirits, clearly she doesn't understand vodka or Bloody Mary's. It was also clear she didn't care about anyone at the bar but 3 people she clearly knew. My father ordered the most expensive steak they had for his birthday, the Delmonico. It was paper thin and overcooked. Waitress brought another out which was also paper thin. Very disappointing for a $33 steak. Atmosphere is nice and the waitress was on her game and did an outstanding job. The food is about the quality of a TGI Friday's, although I will say the side salad had a great blend of colored carrots on top. Wow, the Beechwood gets only 3 1/2 stars! That's insane. They have great food. The Swiss Steak is to die for and the fish is fresh and well cooked. I enjoy the fried Whitefish and consider it to be some of the best in the state. I have never been disappointed with the Beechwood and look forward to every vist to Holland just so we can stop in there. The Beechwood is a must for anyone in Holland that wants a great meal and dining experience. read more
