Leaving the lake, decided to give them a try, very pleased we stopped. Greeted immediately, seated, menu and drinks in no time. My wife and I grabbed the chicken Ceasers salad and it was amazing. Crisp cuts of greens, nice char grilled chicken with a homemade ranch dressing, very, very good. Our Emily was amazing as well, friendly, prompt and our drinks were re-filled in a blink. I'm honestly just glad no one got sick from eating here. Is that bad when that's the best thing you can say? We had chartered a sail boat out of Holland, and our captain recommended this as a good place for us to eat. When we got here, they were closing the restaurant side, but let us sit on the bar side. We ordered drinks, and out they came: my iced tea (undrinkable) and several old fashioned cocktails. My brother-in-law, being the most polite person in any room, didn't make any kind of a scene with us, didn't say anything to any of us (including his wife). He just calmly asked the server if he could have a different drink. She asked why. Because there were three dead bugs in his drink. I'm not sure what the worst part of that is: three, dead, bugs? We really should have just left then, but everything closes so early, where would we have gone? The rest of the meal was just a little off. My sister liked her fish and chips and my other brother-in-law liked his perch tacos, and we all liked our little house salads. But those of who got steaks (four of us) were not impressed. My husband's steak was basically raw, mine was super fatty and I left half of it on the plate. We could have sent things back, but we were already feeling like they didn't really want us there, and we were running against the clock. Rolls and baked potatoes were also substandard. It's so hard for me to give something two stars, but this place probably needs an overhaul. I've also never seen anything quite like the way they turned every light in the place on when they were ready for us to leave. They probably shouldn't have kept serving us beers if they wanted to kick us out so close to the last drinks they brought. The low rating is because of covid19 I think. We have been here before and always had good meal and service. We were coming back from an out of town soccer game, so it was late afternoon, early evening. We checked in with the ostess, she asked for my phone number. My wife left hers at the game and mine was dead, so I just told the hostess we didn't have one, and she told us we had to leave since she was not going to come to our car when it was our turn, and we could not stay inside. Holy smokes. He a great meal here. Got the bourbon pork chop and the pesto chicken. We enjoyed both. The pork chop was cooked to perfection and tasty and juicy. Bourbon sauce wasn't over powering and sweet. For an app we got the boneless chicken wings. They were a lot hotter than we expected. Fairly priced and nice atmosphere. I ordered the Mahi Mahi with street corn and magno aoli. It was Amazing, beautiful to look at and delicious. The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the corn was amazing! There was a little bit of a kick to it, but nothing lingering. It was bright and fresh. I would have been proud to serve it to the Koning. I will order it again and take pictures. The Mahi Mahi offering is truely majestic. The chicken soup was absolutely scrumptious, it had a delicate fresh herb flavor to it. Fried mushrooms...some of the best in town and a very generous portion. (we also ordered the Take 5 dessert and it was probably the worst thing I have ever ordered in a restaurant. I think they microwaved the pretzel bites because they were completely inedible, We weren't going to say anything, but the waitress did needle it out of us and I sheepishly told her they were not good. Just anout everything we ordered was very good. The Passanble Platter appetizer sampler was outstanding, with the only letdown being the generic cheese sauce for the pretzel bites. The bites themselves were chewy, warm and flavorful. The fries and BBQ was delicious with a sauce that was mildly sweet. The wings were great: oven baked with a smokey spicey rub. The deep fried mushrooms are prepared on site. A light batter on vertically sliced shrooms. Excellent. The Cuban sami is the best I've had outside o the Keys. As this establishment labels itself as a grill, I would have expected them to get the steak correct and have me leave satisfied. If you have a Service Dog don't go to this restaurant. They not only don't know the law the management is incredibly rude when trying to handle the situation. This was by far the worst interaction I've had since getting a Service Dog. If you know or care for someone with a disability please don't patronize restaurants and businesses that treat disabled people this way our life is hard enough with out people being rude and refusing service for a Medical issue. First of all, let me just say that this place would be getting 4 stars if it was just about the food. Unfortunately we had a terrible dining experience. I was with a wedding party that had booked the private room in the basement weeks ago. When we all arrived at the restaurant, they didn't seat us in the private room. They had sectioned off part of the main dining room for us to sit so we could hear all of the loud conversations going on and couldn't enjoy the rehersal dinner. Secondly, our waitress was acting as if she wanted to get rid of us. I was literally holding the salad bowl in my hands when she asked if she could take my salad plate since I was finished. (I wasn't.) Our water glasses sat empty and we had to ask for refills of water. My brother's coke was never refilled. If you are a good waitress you don't ask to refill, you just do it. It's water for goodness sake. Thirdly, the bride-to-be was from out of the country. She had her legal ID with her. The restaurant proceeded to refuse to serve her a drink (AT HER OWN REHEARSAL DINNER!). The visa was a valid picture ID and yet they refused to take it. The groom had to go and find her passport and return in order to get her one drink! They then pestered him and questioned to "make sure the passport wasn't expired". Ridiculous. Also grandma of the groom couldnt be there due to a sudden illness in the family but they still charged them for her plate "because you reserved 16 seats for the all you can eat party". Well if that was the case they should have given them a box so they could take some home to her!!! The groom's family still had to pay for the grandma's dinner. I feel as if we would have known ahead of time how unprofessional the service would be then we would have chose a different restaurant. As a former Hope grad, I was embarrassed to have this represent Holland, MI to my family. This is the last time my family and the other 14 people go there. Well with high hopes we ate at the Beechwood Grill last night. Beer cold, white fish way to salty. The salad was "mixed greens" which I and the wife abhor. Soup was ok. Our waitress wasn't doing a great job but she just found out she was pregnant, but after we found that out she was kind and nice. Maybe it was the end of the season or maybe it was seasonal help winding down the end of year and letting down after Labor Day. But it was ok but we probably won't return. read more

Had an excellent early dinner tonight. The service was very good, quick and efficient. We each had the perch dinner. I had the regular dinner and DH had the AYCE. They were delicious. The dinner was more than enough. It was lightly breaded and deep fried (usually we prefer pan fried), but it was very good, light and not greasy. DH had the redskin potatoes and they were outstanding, done just right. I had the chips which were good, not anything spectacular, but good. We will definitely be going back. read more

We started out trying to get into the restaurant next door, but they closed at 1pm. So we walked over to Beechwood Inn, and are glad we did. It had a nice comfortable and friendly atmosphere. It was our waitresses first day, but you would not have known it. She did a great job. They have a nice sized menu. My husband had the reuben and chips. Both were delicious. I had the olive burger and onion rings. So tasty! Nice to find something different on a menu. (Never had an olive burger? Try it!) The unsweetened iced tea was fresh brewed and had a great flavor. Very refreshing. (Believe it or not, some places can even mess up tea.) We aren't local, but if we ever find ourselves in Holland MI again, we'll be back. read more

We had a terrible experience here that can't go unmentioned. When we were seated we showed our waiter a coupon and specifically asked about using the coupon with a gift card. He assured us that would work. After a reasonably good meal (we are/WERE frequent customers-it's nearby), and after handing over the card and coupon he came back to our table and said unfortunately the manager said you CAN'T use them together. At our request, the manager, Rachel, verified what he had said. We tried to explain that we made our choices based on the waiter's information and it was a waiter's error, but she wouldn't budge... said it made no difference.
