The Walerga location is not the biggest or fanciest, but it is nice and is in my hood. ;) I like the large amount of parking spaces right at the front of the store. We shop at Bel Air mostly for produce, meat, and specialty items. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The meat and produce is always great. Self checkout is also a nice bonus. My one issue is the Customer Service/Postal Center. They never have enough people back there to help out. read more

Expensive--but they have good deals on baked goods. Disappointed with the produce and meat selections. Better choices on produce at food max and meat is better at foodmaxx and winco. (Surprise!). Staff always very friendly. read more

The instore post office is subject to long waits and frequently is closed when it is supposed to be open. I have on many occasions gone over there with mail to send and the darn place is all locked up ? This is beginning to be more than just a little annoying, as it is starting to cost me real money. Good quality, but a bit higher than my wife is use to paying before we met. Very good salads in the deli. Staff very friendly and helpful. Usually free fruit at the front of the store to keep kids occupied while the parents shop. read more

She was almost as excited as me, and she was so helpful with suggestions with what I could do for different things. What has happened to this store? I've lived in the neighborhood for 14 years and the quality used to be impeccable. Now, it's like a high school social experiment with staff in T shirts instead of uniforms, exhibiting atypical teenage behavior of disregarding the average customer and worrying more about chatting with their friends. The quality of food has declined. Last night I stopped by the deli counter and picked up some Asian food. Got it home and the chow mein noodles were so overcooked they were like mush and the orange chicken was literally soaking wet and soggy. It was inedible and a disappointment from what I remembered in the past. I will think twice before shopping there from now on. read more

I've always had good experiences here. The employees are very friendly and they get me in and out pretty quickly. This chain of stores is the only that carry Fuji Apple Pear lifewater but sometimes they are sold out...which really sucks. I hope they stock it more. read more

PLEASE READ IT ALL: I've been going to Bel-Air for years! Until my last visit! I went to buy crab from the seafood department and a man with a goatee helped me, I asked him for 2 pounds of crab and he said are you sure you're going to eat it this time? I was confused and said yes, he said last time you bought crab you left it in the store and didn't buy it, I said the last time I bought crab was 2 months ago that wasn't me! He said I'm pretty good with faces and I'm pretty sure it was you. I was so offended he blamed me for something I didn't do and I felt like he discriminated against me because I'm Asian and he thinks all Asians look alike. Why would you blame a customer without being certain it was the person who committed that act? I felt embarrassed and I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN! I do not feel comfortable walking into this store! I refuse to give this place my business anymore. I have been a loyal customer at this particular Bel Air for the past 15 years, along with my close family and friends, but that is no longer the case... unless they find themselves more caring and respectable employees. This past Mother's Day (a sunday), I stopped into the store to get my momma some nice flowers and a card. I am not sure what exactly happened, but I left my iPhone sitting on one of the tables that the flowers were on (mind you, there were 2 or 3 extra tables that held flowers this day). I got into my car and realized I didn't have my phone as soon as I drove away and immediately turned around. I went back, and I couldn't find it anywhere. Then it dawned on me that I could go home to my laptop and trace my phone to its location, so that's what I did. Thank goodness for the findmyiphone app, I located it still in the flower area of the store- and yes it's accurate. I called the store and the employees continuously said the phone was not there. I decided to take it upon myself to go back to the store and search again. No luck. And the only table I picked flowers up off of was gone. I thought that definitely the employees who cleaned it up would turn it in eventually. I go back home to my laptop and my phone moved to the center of the store, near the cash wrap. I called back, and again, the employees said it was not found. I left my phone number hoping I would get a call later when the store was not so busy with mother's day stuff. This all happened within a span of about an hour and a half. For the remainder of the day, I continuously traced my iPhone around the store and it moved around from the cash wrap, back near the flowers, etc. Around 3pm the phone turned off, and its last location in the store was back near the flower department. Finally, I realized that obviously, no customer had stolen my phone. No customer spends 6 hours in a grocery store! I called back, and employees told me the same thing... no found iPhone. I called a friend of mine who used to work at this Bel Air and they told me that maybe an employee took the phone because the break room is actually right above the flower department, so while my phone may have been located in the flower area, that is also the break area, just different levels of the store. (Unfortunately modern technology can't tell you what floor of the store your iPhone is on!) Anyways, I decided to file a police report that evening when I realized my phone is probably gone. Around 10pm, I went back onto my laptop to trace my phone one last time- its last location was in the Bel Air parking lot a little after 6pm. It told me an exact parking spot and everything, and then I knew my phone was most definitely gone. I know there was NO CUSTOMER who was at the store when I lost my phone at 9:30, until 6 at night. And if an employee did snag it, they took it to their car so it wasn't being turned in. I finally got ahold of the store director on Tuesday (I guess they are off Sun&Mon) and the first thing she said was, "Oh yeah I have that GPS on my phone and it's not really that accurate." EXCUSE ME? BUT IT PERFECTLY LOCATED MY PHONE IN YOUR STUPID FLOWER DEPARTMENT WHERE I ORIGINALLY SET IT DOWN! I never went to any other area of the store besides the flowers and the cash wrap. She really was no help at all, and said that I would hear back from her or loss prevention within a week after they go through all the tapes from that day. She didn't want to see all of the screen shots I had of my iPhone locations in the store and the times. I'm sorry, but if I can tell you that my phone was set down at 9:30am and was picked up by 11am in the flower department and moved to the cash wrap, then why is that necessary to go through the entire day? Someone obviously picked it up around in that hour & a half. She also said she would look through the employees who worked that day and see who got off around 6pm and get back to me. Did I ever hear back from either of them? Nope. Not once. I called a couple weeks later and could not get ahold of the store director again. Don't get me wrong, I understand that I am partially to blame- I should have been responsible enough to not leave my phone sitting in a grocery store. But, I also fully expect to have a store show a loyal customer that they at least TRIED to find the culprit. I would have been completely satisfied if they called and said, "Look, that part of the store is not something we can see on camera" or even if they called to say anything at all. Just to apologize that something happened like that to one of their patrons. The lack of response is really what angered me.. I work customer service and would never treat anyone like that, regardless of the circumstances. It's quite sad, but I'll take my business to other grocery stores. Oh, and a new phone cost me $400... which likely would have been spent at this Bel Air otherwise. read more

This is totally based on the bakery and the bakery only. My daughters birthday crept up on me and I ran down to the Bel-air bakery. The sign next to the cake said they needed 48 hours for the specialized birthday cakes. I asked if there was any way at all that they could do my childs cake. I needed it in 17 hours exactly for we would be at Funderland singing happy bithday with no cake or candles! She said it wasnt a problem at all, let my daughter pick out which cake she wanted and rang me up. Super friendly the entire time. Yay, Bel-air bakery saved the day :) read more

This Bel Air location is pretty nice, staff is very friendly. Lines have a steady flow with not long of a wait time. Winco across the street is much cheaper but Bel Air has some good weekly deals. My only complaint would be to turn you cooler with the Starbucks products inside on. They taste so much better chilled. Haha read more

This is the store I buy all my groceries since the 80's and 90's when they first opened! The service is always top notch. It gets a tad bit stressful every few years when they remodel, but there are always plenty of workers there to kindly help me find my way. I wont shop at any other store. read more

I am definitely here on a daily!!! The meat, veggies, and fruits are always so fresh. The customer service is outstanding (although I never need help going to my car) but because the workers offer to help load groceries for you is pretty cool. My kids sometimes get stickers from the cashiers also, even my kids love going there. Not to mention they have a wellsfargo atm there, which saves us gas and time! Love this place! read more

I was recently shopping at this store and happened across two young men who were off duty and in fact didnt even work at this Bel Air but instead worked at the Gold River location. I am currently unable to walk unassisted and needed to get in and out quickly due to pain management vs need . These 2 youngsters directed me where i should find the items i needed and never told me they were off duty until i inquired as to their names. They had the ultimate respect for the badge they wore that bore the store name and logo . A big shout out to Justice and Danny. Its rare to find such character coming from within a young man . i like grocery shopping but it rarely gives me as much joy as when i venture to bel air. i was in the roseville area this past weekend and battled the hurricane to stock up on food. aisle upon aisle, i was mesmerized by the unique items i could find. or maybe it was a realization that the grocery stores in SF suck? either way, here's a short list of why you should always opt for bel air over your local safeway/lucky store: - the wine aisle has a wine "expert" to help advise you on your purchase. - cuts of meat that you can't find anywhere else, including sausage meat already de-cased (ie. non-sausage form) - a wall of pay-by-the-pound grains (flours, beans, etc.) including unusual varieties that i've never heard of - lots of organic and locally-sourced specialty products (ever heard of pear infused balsamic vinegar? yum!) all of this is available for reasonable prices, unlike a whole foods or higher-end specialty market. what a deal!! if i could make this my regular grocery store, i definitely would. read more

I love this store except I'm less than impressed with service at the HotWok counter. 11:05 and only 3 trays in warming case. When I asked about the ribs and chow mien, I was told 5-10 minutes. Ok, then I was told "people are in the way, 5 more minutes", ok. Two customers come and order and still I wait for chow mien. It took 37 minutes! If I hadn't promised family I wouldn't wait. It became principle. The sign says open at 11...so why aren't you stocked and ready? 3 steam pans is not open and ready. VERY disappointed in their "customer service". I was actually told by a store manager that the HotWok is not technically part of their store, really? Then why do they wear BelAir uniforms? I will continue to shop this store but never again the HotWok! read more

The store is exceptionally clean, well organized, and a friendly atmosphere. The employees that I have dealt with were very efficient and responsive. Whenever I asked for an item that I cannot locate, I was immediately taken to that location and shown the item. Then the employee thank me for asking...this is definitely a new twist for me, impressive to say the least. Don't know if is a store policy, but baggers will not accept remuneration. I love Raley's and Bel-Air. the prices are higher than most but the service is good and they seem to carry everything. My Bf and I have had a couple of bad experiences with a rude cashier and we avoided him for a couple of years, but one day I got sidetracked and ended up in his line. He was very polite and courteous which was a complete 180 to the previous times. the rise of food prices discouraged me from going but i can't resist going back. I usually buy whats on sale and make a menu and a list when I shop for groceries which saves me a ton of money. Many keep comparing Bel-Air to Wincos but its like comparing an apple to an orange. The service and quality of products at Winco can't compare to Bel-Air. read more

This store is close to my house, almost always has what I want, always has what I need. I'm so glad the employees are NOT super sticky sweet-in your face fake friendly. I love the self-check.I don't go to the supermarket to converse with the checkers. The store is easy to navigate. The produce is almost always good.
