So I walked over the Bayonne Bridge solo and scouted out an adorable Italian restaurant in Staten Island. I was exhausted and out of breath and had to pee! They welcomed me with open arms, pulled out a table in their parking lot to accommodate a table for one. I just had a fantastic shrimp, calamari salad and 2 glasses of savingnon blanc. I am in heaven ! The service is phenomenal and the owner walks around making sure everyone is happy! I am a happy gal and am now looking forward to walking back ( buzzed) . My father put me onto Bella Mama Rose a few months back. It's not in an ideal spot for parking and you might not drive by it very often unless you are in the neighborhood for somethings specific. But, if you grab a spot, it's definitely worth trying out. Just beware that upon walking in, no matter what hour of the DAY (not night) there will be someone at the bar who turns around as you walk in and stares you down. It's a bit awkward but its not the establishments fault. I've been there 3 times, and its happened each time. Just stare back to let them know that you do in fact belong there and keep it moving lol. Came in on a early Sarurday night around 6 with my family, walked in to a warm cozy bar area with a beautiful Christmas tree an decor all around. I walked to the host stand an right away I was greeted by a gentleman who was near the bar an he was really nice an friendly I feel bad I didn't catch his name. I never been here as I did come bc I was in the area an the Yelp review where decent so I figured I'd try it out. I breezed through the menu while my husband parked in the parking area they also have valet parking. I was seated right away there was no wait due to it Being early I guess. I was greeted by Chantel our server who was very professional an nice a bit to professional but I guess that's a good thing. She brought us a complimentary appetizer an some water. We ended up ordering a margarita pie which was very very delicious nice an crispy with very good cheese only thing I would say is the sauce wasn't that great a bit watery an no flavor but I defiantly enjoyed it. My husband ordered calamari which he enjoyed as well the spicy sauce was amazing. Only thing that got me a little Was we where the only table an our food took way to long to come out, once it did we did enjoy it. We also ordered chicken franchese with linguine pasta. When my boyfriend raved about the garlic bread here I decided to go. But upon calling with no answer he assumed it closed down. But months later I happened to drive past and it was still open. Renamed "Bella Mama Rose" we dined here last week. The bread was okay but according to Matt, it was not as good as previously. We were the first ones there and service was impeccable. He ordered a Caesar salad and I ordered Pene with Vodka sauce. I have to admit it was delicious. However, I cannot eat a full pound of pasta. I couldn't even finish the leftovers. As we left people who I assume were the owners/ managers asked us how everything was and said goodbye to us. I came here for a friends birthday that was held in the private room and I have to say the service and food was really good. This is probably one of my most favorite restaurants on Staten Island. When you eat there they make you feel like family. Staff has always been super friendly and a great place to bring kids. So this was how my dinner experience went at Bella Mama Rose: My boyfriend and I were celebrating a belated Valentines Day and since we had tickets to a 10:00 movie at Staidum 16 on Forest Avenue we decided to go to Bella Mama Rose for dinner since it was close by to where we needed to be. However, the staff (particularly the manager) was beyond unprofessional and rude. We got there around 8:40- Movie was at 10:00. We thought, "Yeah we'll have enough time to eat and then drive down Forest Ave for the movie." We ordered appetizers and entrees. For appetizers we had a Margarita pizza and some Mac and cheese balls. Just that alone took 20-25 mins to come out. Now we're waiting for the entrees 9:20-9:25-9:30.... Still nothing We told them we had a 10:00 movie to go to The waiter replied "Oh why didn't you tell us you were in a hurry? We'll check on the entrees." By this point is was 9:40- I asked for a manager. The manager came over and I explained to her we had a movie to go to and that I'd appreciate it if we could just get billed for what we did in fact eat. She replied and I quote, "If you are a in a rush this is not the place to come to because we cook everything fresh as it's ordered. Your entrees are coming out now, so do you have time to eat them?" I literally thought this was a joke. I said no. I asked her if she could remove it from the bill and she said she couldn't do that because the food was already prepared. So I ended up having to have them pack up the entrees because we were running late for the movie (when mind you we arrived an hour and 20 minutes prior to the movie time) and I was forced to pay for food I didn't even get to consume in their restaurant. What manager speaks to a customer like that ? I just angrily paid and walked out The manager was sitting at the bar when we were walking out and she was like "Sorry about that guys," and I am like "Yeah thanks." My husband and I have been there multiple times and have ordered take out many times as well. We have never had a complaint about this place until today. We placed an ordered for delivery at 5:15pm three hours later and still no food. Five phone calls later and no food. Last call I got the owner who wasn't very pleasant about the fact I've been extremely patient about our delivery only to have her say what you want me to do about it. So ordered cancelled. The service was terrible..waitress never came by to see if we were ok or needed anything..until she came by to give the $70. dollar bill for 1 quater glass of house wine, 1 tap beer, 1 order of bland calamari. I plate of tasteless pasta and 1 plate of 3 frozen suffed shells.. all of it was ass! Not worth the money. Im NEVER going there again..and neither should you.. I visited this establishment on 11/10/18 and although it was not my first time it will definitely be my last! This is due to the "manager" of the evening Brenda's rude and condescending behavior. Firstly, as I attempted to explain that I tried something new on the menu and was not pleased, Brenda continuously interrupted to state I'd have to pay for half the meal (although only a couple of fork fills were missing due to tasting). Paying for the meal was not the issue as it was my intention to order something else from the menu. That thought quickly changed with speaking to Brenda. I am very much concerned with the display of her disinterest and lack of customer service. Brenda did not inquire why I was not pleased with the meal nor did she make any suggestions with regard to how my concern with the food could be offset. She reiterated that I would need to pay half for the meal and purchase another. I must mention our server Jeremy, who was an absolute pleasure. His attempt to resolve the matter was thwarted by an ill-mannered Brenda. I am certain that matters of this sort are not managed this way and I am disgusted that I experienced Brenda or that I am compelled to write this review. However, her behavior and blatant disregard is unacceptable. A very discourteous Brenda said I "could take it up with Michelle (owner who was not on site and at her brothers wedding) if I had a problem with her decision". Brenda is a liability and her behavior is likely to cause further embarrassment to your establishment. The encounter has left a bad taste (figuratively and literally) in my mouth! read more

Excellent. The site was formerly Bella Mama and the new owners have improved it. Nice renovation and the friendliness starts the moment you walk through the door. Cheerful! Food a cut above SI Italian, which is usually quite good. The bruschetta is a ice free starter-lotta garlic. Apps, Soups and Salads are hearty. We've had pasta, chicken, veal, and eggplant. All done nicely. Food is piping hot and fresh. And plenty leftovers. Have been there on a Thursday and Tuesday and could not feel better about it. This is a place I've been meaning to try for quite awhile, and I was not disappointed. We started with the cheese stuffed meatball that was delicious. For the entree, the homemade ravioli special was tasty, if not a little heavy on the sauce. The atmosphere is relaxed, clean and inviting and service was friendly and efficient. Great for getting together with friends or a family meal. The menu is small, but there are several specials to choose from. I'm definitely coming back!
