Went on a Monday after work for happy hour with a friend. Even though it wasn't the warmest evening, we decided to sit in the open rooftop. Since it wasn't crowded on the top, we were able to choose our seats and talk peacefully with each other. I had $10 strawberry margarita and my friend had a $10 glass of red wine. We decided to share roasted cauliflower bites, which came with pita bread, za'atar and hummus. In our opinion the dish was too dry and very bland. We had the Craft Battered Shrimp, which were in Beer Battered Shrimp with tartar sauce and chipotle mayo. They were DELICIOUS. We couldn't get enough of them. We also ordered a Brie & Prosciutto Flatbread with Honey tomato confit, basil & chili olive oil. The flatbread was much much smaller than I expected, BUT sharing all three dishes filled us up so much we couldn't finish everything. Our bill came up to almost $70 plus tip each of us paid about $45. Not bad! The view of the empire state was as always majestic. Definitely coming back again! read more

I had the ten-dollar hamburger lunch special on Monday the 13th. This place obviously cares about itself, looks good, cloth napkins, almost no customers... I casually told the very nice waiter that I like my hamburgers medium-rare, but I usually order medium, because then you'll get it medium-rare in most restaurants in NYC. She assured me that if I ordered medium-rare, I would get medium rare. What I got was barely cooked. Two thirds of the inside meat was raw. The waitress said she could send it back, but I was starving, so I ate it. My side was the green salad, which they care about, too: it had some exotic super-thin slices of something-or-other that were tasty. But like way too many places in NYC, they must prepare this in a giant bowl and drown it in dressing. It was almost too tart to eat, but I finished it. My visit here was a delightful experience. Food: I had the Fish & Chips, and honestly they didn't disappoint as they were well made and very well seasoned. For the drinks they were also good and what you should be expecting from cocktails. Service: Easy, fast and straight to the point. As I got my food pretty quickly and my drinks get served to me basically on the spot at the bar. Stopped into Bella Union for lunch on a Friday. I'd been here before to have rooftop cocktails with friends, but we didn't eat. I ordered the filet mignon sandwich and was pleasantly surprised by house good it was. The filet mignon, which I ordered rare, was seasoned well and thinly sliced. The ciabatta it's served on was lightly toasted but still soft. I think an heirloom tomato instead of a beefsteak would really turn it up a notch, but that would probably up the price. This sandwich appears on their lunch menu for a very generous $14! Sandwiches come with soup, salad, or fries. The soup of the day (split pea with ham) was tempting but I went with the side salad. The dressing could've been a bit more flavorful. But overall I enjoyed my meal and I'm glad I stopped in! My server was very pleasant and attentive. The interior has a saloon kind of vibe, and I appreciate all the open windows. I was seated very close to a large one facing 3rd Ave and the breeze was nice. Many people walked in asking for a seat upstairs on the rooftop, which I now wish I'd done, so take heed! They've also got happy hour, including a late night option. I checked out this place with an old friend of mine and it was such a great time. We ordered a few drinks and I highly recommend the Hugo, it's St.Germaine + Prosecco + Mint. Very refreshing. The Hugo cocktail was $8, a great happy hour deal on Thursday nights. The beef sliders were juicy and delicious and we were served in less than 10 minutes. The ambiance is cozy for such a huge place, definitely gave dimly lit tavern vibes. They have a rooftop bar section too with a great view of the city. The bartenders were friendly all around. I would say the patrons were generally around their early 20's-30's, so keep that in mind since it gets real busy during intern season in NYC. The restaurant is also 3 levels and huge, so even if you don't end up on the roof you can definitely get seating. They have great happy hour that helps all the great vibes on the roof. I stopped in for lunch on a breezy afternoon in August, and while I didn't mange to capture a photo of the view, I did remember to snap a pic of their delicious Watermelon Salad. I chose to add avocado, which was just a tad overripe, but nonetheless, rich and delicious. They have some great lunch specials as well, and the cocktail I tried, (Sexy Beast,) was a refreshing choice for the Summer Season! This bar is SUPER beautiful. Came in on a weekend recently and was served by the wonderful Gia, she recommended the Espresso martinis which did not disappoint ($10 on the day I went which was a Sunday). The view on the rooftop was really calm and ambient and all of the servers and hostesses were attentive and kind (you guys make climbing up to those steps to the rooftop look easy haha). This was my second time coming here. Found this place on my way to another happy hour spot and noticed their sign mentioning $10 burgers all day on Wednesdays. So after hitting up the first happy hour spot, got hungry after a few drinks and made my way to Bella Union. Ordered the American burger ($10) with bacon ($3) and got a high noon ($6 - HH) along with it. The burger was really good and gave plenty of fries which I couldn't finish. For the quality and amount of food, probably the best happy hour deal around. The place has three floors with full bar in each including a rooftop bar. Quickly greeted by a very nice hostess and wait staff when I walked into this upscale saloon looking for a quick bite after being in the Chelsea area. There were several burgers to choose from, I ordered the Smash Burger served on a sesame crusted butter bun, caramelized onions, bacon, lettuce, American cheese, habanero aioli, it was way beyond any expectations that I might have had as a walk in. Two juicy well cooked beef patties properly smashed and the habanero aioli added mild heat to the layers of flavor in the burger. Bella Union is an "upscale" multilevel sports bar in Kips Bay Area. There are some smaller tables, and a looong bar on the ground level, in addition to more floor space on the upper floors. The drink list is pretty standard, and the menu has some interesting items. Don't expect life-changing quality, though. At the end of the day, it's a sports bar, and you'll get sports bar food. I've had a few entrees, and most recently tried the buffalo cauliflower. Nothing especially noteworthy, and the buffalo cauliflower was SUPER acidic. Not sure why their buffalo sauce has to be 90% vinegar and 10% sulfuric acid. Decent spot, usually with plenty of space available if you're looking for somewhere decent to bring a larger group. read more

This definitely a vibe on the weekend. Came here for a staff outing and it was more than we had expected. We had one floor to ourselves with appetizers and bar to ourselves. The food options were great, except the guacamole, wasn't the best I had. The chicken tenders amusing wish we had more, shrimp buffalo slider amazing, didn't even know it was shrimp lol quesadilla nice and juicy and steak kebab where great as well. The service was attentive to us as well, drinks were okay as we only had limited options which was fine. Around 6 PM - July 10th, 2025. Unfortunately, this was my worst experience in the United States so far and sadly, it happened in New York City. That said, I want to begin by congratulating our server, the young woman working on the terrace. She was sweet, professional, and truly the highlight of our visit (reason why I gave 3 stars). When we arrived, however, the hostess asked us to wait while she finished a text message, an awkward first impression. We remained polite and kept the good energy. She must have noticed our reaction, because her demeanor quickly shifted, and she offered us a table outside. Shortly after, another staff member, not our assigned server, brought water to our table without greeting us or making eye contact. I had to initiate the interaction just to receive a simple "hello." Thankfully, our actual server was warm and attentive and helped elevate the service overall. Now, about the food, I say this with full respect and understanding for the challenges of the hospitality industry, especially during busy times like happy hour. I know how hard your team works. However, given the scale of your operation and the visible investments made into the space and experience (reservations and buyouts included), I believe there's room for improvement--and I hope you'll take this as constructive feedback. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. We ordered fish and chips, which arrived after over 30 minutes (our server did inform us of the delay and kindly apologized). The dish was cold, lacked seasoning, the fish wasn't properly fried, and the fries were undercooked. We also ordered a flatbread, which lacked flavor, and another dish so unremarkable I honestly don't remember it. The busser seemed overwhelmed and unsure if the dishes he brought were even for our table. The drinks were also off, the Aperol Spritz was overly sweet, and when we switched to the Hugo, it was worse. I'm not writing this as a critic or expert, but as a guest who genuinely wanted to share detailed, honest feedback. I truly hope to return in the future and have a much better experience.
