Finally decided to try this tea shop that opened up next to Bank of America and Target. The previous boba place sucked so I had high hopes for this place. The decor is super cute and music was pleasant. Mango pomelo sago - I love love love mango and this one was a total disappointment! Mainly tasted like coconut milk with sago with a couple of mango pieces. It was not refreshing at all. I recommend you get this drink elsewhere. Passion fruit super fruit cup - perfect summer drink! Lots of fresh fruit inside and very refreshing. Service was good and even though the line was long, it was moving pretty quickly. I also like that they sell Kokonut yogurts here! I didn't realize there was another boba place so close to me! It was a warm day, so I decided to go for something fruity (and hopefully refreshing). I ordered the Mango Pomelo Sago. I loved how the coconut taste came through. Some places don't have it as strong with the coconut, but I like the balance. It was good, and what I expected more or less, but it didn't hit for me. Also, you can't adjust anything for it (sugar or ice). My bf got the peach tea and it was okay. Overall, I'd say our experience was slightly above mid. I had my eye on the red bean milk tea, so I might try that next time. Or maybe a classic milk tea to compare across the board. read more

Looove bengong! I've already visited their Arcadia and Walnut location and they all taste pretty consistent as this one. This location is also very clean and aesthetic! So, the couple in front of me was going off about their boba being rock hard. Like, full-on complaint mode. I stood there thinking, "Okay, calm down, it's just boba." I owe them an apology. Was excite to try this new place in the Marketplace in Tustin! We tried the mango pomelo sago, strawberry cheese tea, and the Da hong pao boba milk tea! My favorite was probably the mango pomelo sago, not too sweet and super refreshing! The da hong pao boba milk tea was good, but I thought the texture of the boba was a bit weird to me. Let's see if I can hit all 3 criteria today: Food, service, and ambiance. Wow, all green lite and checked marked, no wonder I'm Elite. But all joking aside, this place did hit 2 out of 3. So full disclosure, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the B1G1 50%. It is wayy too expensive for a sip of boba than it is for any other drink. It's not like I can't afford it, but just based on principal that no drink should cost more than the price of meal. To clarify, this is a drink so it shouldn't cost anywhere close to a meal, even taking inflation into account. The profit margins on boba is insane. So I've been cutting down on my boba drinks but this deal was exactly what I needed to get me out of my shell. The most interesting drink I saw was the Osmanthus Rice Milk tea. I've never had this anywhere before and never heard of it but I'm so glad I got to try it today. I also got the Cheese DaHongPao tea which I also like but love the osmanthus way more. The was so different with the petals and agar boba which I didn't know was in the drink until the next day when I finally stirred my drink. Yes, I drink 1/3 of the tea each day and so the 3rd day is the day I finish 1 whole drink. I dont normally drink milk tea but I will definitely make the exception for this drink. It was amazing and unlike any I've had in a while. The service was somewhat good with the cashier explaining as best he could in broken English but it was off putting when he coughed into the air. He sort of almost put his hands up to cover while putting his head down but neither of the two quite meet each other... Sigh. Everyone should know by know to cover your cough. Wow wow wow, amazing drinks with a variety of options across their menu! The Golden Sesame Milk Slush at 50% sugar is sheer perfection in a cup. It reminds me of black sesame tangyuan (a Chinese glutinous rice dessert) in drink form. It has this amazing toasted sesame aftertaste. The Mango Yakut Tea is a refreshing drink on a hot day. There are some drinks on the menu labeled as "coming soon" and I can't wait to give them a try. The interior is super cute and very clean. Drinks came out very fast and everyone was very friendly. My favorite tea is passion fruit green tea. Every time I go to any boba shop I order a passion fruit green tea. On many occasions I've been to Ben Gong's and ordered the passion fruit super cup tea without the fruit, since I don't eat the fruit. I don't order teas because I want fruit. I order them because I want caffeine. The employees in the past have been accommodating. (By the way the passion fruit tea is just what it sounds like, nothing extraordinary. I sometimes stop by Ben Gong's out of convenience but this is certainly not my favorite place for fruit teas.) Anyways today I asked for the same thing. The girl at the cashier wanted to help but someone else who appeared to be her supervisor was extremely rude and snapped "No" and said it was against store policy. I explained that the shop has always accommodated me in the past. The cashier asked again on my behalf and the girl who appeared to be her supervisor turned around and straight up walked away. I'm definitely never coming back here again. The drinks are just OK to begin with, but with that kind of attitude, they don't deserve my business anymore. Not coming back ever. read more

I'd hate to give this review but just like a few had mentioned the wait time. We went here to avoid the wait at a very popular boba spot nearby, we should've just stayed there I think we would've waited the same amount of time. I came in and order on the ipad. It seems like at that time people were already gathering up near the pickup bar. People were getting pissed off waiting so long. A family that was clearing sitting there for a while didn't event get there boba yet. Then the team started picking it up and another person came in for backup. Not sure what the holdup was but there wssnt even a line for ordering for it to be backed up the way it was. One lady was even waiting 50 min. Insane. We waited 30 min. There needs to be a better system guys. Also, I watched my boba get made in front of me. It took less than one min and completely watered down. Also, if the wait was so crazy or even there was a mess up in the system they should've turned off or halted all ordering until they got up to speed. They kept letting people order without telling them it's going to be a 20+ min wait for boba. read more

When you see your tea ready, please make sure to wait for them to call your number. I went up to grab my tea without a call out and got hit with a disclaimer saying customers can't pick up their own drinks unless called. My wife and I both got 25% sweet with brown sugar boba. Orange Jasmine tea was great! I was sad when Cha discontinued their California green tea. Orange Jasmine beats out the cali green. This drink's Jasmine tea comes through and combined with the orange makes the fruit tea experience a hit!! Special milk tea was standard and my wife mentioned she would rather get it from somewhere else. Nothing much to say. The boba's brown sugar taste was strong and the texture could be worked on. Disappointing first try of this boba shop. I ordered the special boba milk tea with less ice and no boba (makes no sense with my order I know, I was hoping to get lychee but they don't have it) and it came out to about $6.75 after tip. It was not busy and the order was made quick and I went on my way. Unfortunately, the cup lid would not click completely on and milk tea was leaking from all sides during my drive. It was pretty annoying trying to prevent it from leaking at every turn. The size and taste of the milk tea is definitely not worth the price. The cup is the size of a can of dog food and probably doesn't even fill the whole can if I were to pour it in. Along with the small size is the amount of ice I got even with ordering less. Half the cup was filled with ice, had I not ordered half ice would I have received any milk tea? All in all it was about 5 sips of milk tea. If I got boba as well, there would have probably been maybe 2 sips of milk tea total. read more

Saw that a new milk tea shop had opened in the plaza, so we had to give it a try. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Answered all our questions and offered recommendations based on our preferences. We tried the uji matcha boba milk tea and the golden sesame milk slush. The matcha flavor was strong and came through nicely. Quite delicious. The golden sesame was also quite good, could have probably done 50% sweetness but that's just my personal preference. The inside of the shop is beautifully decorated and would be a cute tea shop date. Will definitely be back once they have their grand opening. read more

This place is very cute + is overall an upgrade from cherubic. The drinks are pretty solid and the boba is very good! My one complaint is that some of their drinks do not allow the addition of boba. What I understand is that some drinks are blended and could be very cold and therefore change the texture of boba, however, the drinks I've gotten so far are still on the melty side and even when I added boba afterwards (they give it to me ots), it remains just fine... so honestly, I think the little rule is a little ridiculous, because it still tastes great LOL... so I'm coming from a nice place I promise! My partner got a slush and was able to add boba, while for me I got the pomelo sago, and I couldn't. So I don't quite understand the logic... I think having a discretion is fine, but I would love my boba! read more

Ben Gong's recently took over Cherubic tea's spot at the Marketplace but unfortunately I wasn't particularly impressed after trying them this past week. The service was fine and the decor is pretty (albeit not much changed from the interior of Cherubic) but the drinks I ordered weren't great. The Mango Pomello Sago was very weak in terms of flavoring and was a lot smaller than I anticipated for the price. The red bean sago would have been fine as a normal tea but the red bean was very faint. Overall not horrible but probably won't be back when there are plenty of great boba spots in Irvine. read more

Went to try the DaHongPao Boba Milk Tea and was able to adjust the sweetness. Milk tea was not bad, but it wasn't amazing. It seems that they are still new and still working out the kinks and process as I notice the employees constantly checking all cups as they moved the ticket. Service seems a bit slow and it took a while to get my order after placing it. Drink tasted more milk than the tea flavor. I prefer a stronger tea flavor, but everyone has their preference on that. They do have other drinks and fruit teas if milk tea isn't your thing. I'll come back to try their other drinks at a later time. read more

Unfortunately, even though the picture shows BOGO50% from June - July and that I came on 6/30, they stopped the BOGO 2 days ago. Disappointed. Don't come if you're trying to capitalize on the deals. The drinks are not bad. It did take roughly 10-15 minutes for drinks to come out. If you want a more dessert-y type drinks, this place will suffice. A couple of problems here that I see from all the times I have been at the store. + employee lacks verbal communication. -- I know that not all of employees speaks fluent English, but employees who do don't seem to mind the fact that they are not giving good customer services. Costumers need attentive employees. + take out bags -- I get that stores runs out of inventory because of unexpected sales and there are not so often a store will get a large order. But please I ask for the employees, as I customer, to be honest. I bought 10 drinks only for me to worry about how I will be able to carry out everything I bought from the store because there are no "bags". What do you mean no bags? As soon I was walked out that door, another customer came out with their small bag for 2 drinks. +store hours-- If your store closes at 8:00PM, how do you deal with customer still in the in the store? I came twice. The first time, cashier refused to take my order. I still have 5-6 mins before closing time. I wasn't able to order. Second time, there was 5 mins till closing time, the lights were turned off even though customers were still there. Please let customer know it is closing time. It's easy to communicate rather than being rude.... Though, I like the drinks here. I now hesitate to come due to these experiences. Drink is good, but services sucks?
