Bento Box Take Out
Jonathan L.

Was very satisfied with the Hot Honey Chicken Bento box. This place was very big inside but not really busy. The bento box i got was well priced and had plenty of chicken. I loved the way the chicken was actually spicy but not overwhelming spicy where you can't taste the the honey. Great balanced of flavors. My order was quickly made and overall very satisfied with my experience with this restaurant. Would come again

Z - Roll, a vegetarian roll

Went here for dinner for my anniversary before a show at the SAFE credit union. The restaurant is big and nice, but I think the ambience it has is more so a place to eat with family or friends rather than a romantic date night. There is lots of available seating in the restaurant and it was relatively full when we dined in. The service was good. The workers were nice. I personally enjoyed my meal, I got a vegetarian roll, the Z roll which was yummy (as well as a hand roll). All the rolls were 50% off which was nice, I do feel that half off is a fair price to pay for the rolls themselves. If you want sauce on the side, like spicy mayo, they charge $1 extra for it. I think I would come here again to try their bento box at least once and more so because of the convenient location of being near the SAFE credit union.

I mean what more can I say about this place!? This is my go to sushi spot for affordable good quality sushi. The food, service, and vibe of the place is always top tier. If you're not local and mention sushi odds are I'm taking you here to grab some rolls and sake. Introduced Mr Man to some different sushi rolls, fish eggs, sake bomb, jalapeño bombs, and the vibe of my favorite place. Shoutout to trying new things with cool people. This place never misses for me and I love coming back for more

I was craving Asian food and this is one of the few open options late night. The service at the bar is quick and the food quality is good. The menu is very expansive, but there are many options for everyone. This is a large restaurant and can handle large parties. The restaurant is clean and easy to access from nearby hotels. Tip: sit at the bar on the right side facing the street for a good experience people watching.

2.5 stars The presentation looks nice (see photos), but the quality didn't match. The rice didn't taste fresh, and the fish wasn't fresh either--which is a big concern for sushi. Tried the rainbow roll and spicy dragon roll, and both looked good but were surprisingly bland with very little flavor. Even the bento box was just okay--nothing really stood out. Service was solid and the staff were friendly, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, I ended up with stomach discomfort afterward, which made the experience worse overall. Place has a lively vibe, but based on the food quality, I wouldn't come back for sushi.

We went here for a work lunch. There were 9 of us. We arrived around 11:45am, we thought they opened at 11:30, it turned out that they don't open till Noon. We all waited outside till Noon. They didn't open a minute early. The place was empty, we defiantly didn't need reservations. They put an extra chair at a table of 8 for us. We were immediately given water when we sat down. We were asked if we wanted drinks. One coworkers said she wanted hot tea. He eventually came back and took our orders. Our orders came out in a timely matter. After that we didn't get checked on. We were in the walk way from the kitchen to the rest of the restaurant, but he never checked on us. We had to hunt him down to get our check. I ordered the Thursday Bento Box Special. It came with salad, pickled cucumbers, white rice mound, and teriyaki chicken. It was really good. It was a lot of food. I took half of the teriyaki chicken home. My favorite dish was the Mixed Tempura. I love the sweet potato best. The broccoli was not good. It was milly.

Two rolls!

This was insanely good!! Calm inviting atmosphere, unprecedented good sushi at half price! Service was quick and great!

I've been here a few times so this review is well passed do. Came in here Friday with a friend and I've felt bento box was always good but this time the quality was much better. They have very affordable prices too. I always get the ninja roll and the jalapeno poppers, they always hit the spot. I'll be going in again tomorrow because I can't stop thinking about them. YUM!!

Dynamite roll

Needed someplace to wait while my kid were at church, stopped in this place for a bite. Ordered a dynamite roll. It Was pretty thick with rice, the cucumber inside tasted old and water filled. Other than that it was just ok. I won't go back though.

We were looking for something close to the convention center and stumbled upon this place. A large spacious restaurant, I was a bit skeptical, but we were hungry! Very glad to find that the food here was actually pretty tasty, and very reasonably priced! Bento Box special #1 was what I picked, and you could select the sushi roll with it. My husband ordered the daily special, and the amount of meat was huge, lol. The tempura was my favorite, it wasn't over battered, and tasted fresh! Even the Teriyaki chicken was clean tasting and not drenched in sauce like a bad cover-up job, lol. Staff was limited, but they were friendly and attentive, and food came out fairly timely, despite them being shorthanded. Good go-to for a decent meal that's not overpriced!!

Happy hour and regular drink menu

Came on a Monday at 4pm during happy hour Happy hour is 4pm-7pm on drinks only Sushi rolls are 50% all day here but the rolls are anywhere between $22-$32 here before the discount so kind of doesn't feel like a discount. We ordered a few sake bombs - house sake with Sapporo beer These are typically $4 but during HH are $2 We ordered a spider roll (Deep fried soft shell crab roll) 9/10 We ordered a rainbow roll 8/10 We ordered garlic Edemame 10/10 When we got there the ambiance was really casual and empty at the time, maybe two other parties there and one server were in the building. Timmy is nice, he seated us and took our order. *this place is closed from 3-4pm Restaurant is large open space, this place is clean and has nice decor inside. Overall nice restaurant, good for families, it was easy to find street parking during the time we came. Would come back again.

Came in on a Wednesday evening around 6. Crowd was pretty empty. My friends and I were seated at the bar and given waters and menus. The food prices here aren't high but they also aren't serving anything of high quality here either. For chicken thighs doused in teriyaki sauce, a simple salad, mixed shrimp tempura, white rice and 4 California rolls or was $22 before tax. Some of the sweet potatoes in the tempura mix were burnt, the shrimp was really good I'll give them that. The deep fried California rolls were solid. Simple but big and filled with imitation crab. The chicken teriyaki wasn't bad they just were cooked and sauce was poured over them. Didn't knock my socks off. I honestly feel like I could make something better. The server also told my table it would be an extra $1 charge for a side of siracha. I've never been to Bento box and I am in no rush to go back. It's what the kids call mid. Much better options for sushi in the area.

Spicy Dragon
Shannon C.

I popped in for a roll and ordered the spicy Dragon. It was very tasty and definitely hit the spot. The spice level was good as well. The service was alright, but it was super busy due to it being Sac Anime weekend. Inside is open and spacious with room for a lot of people. There are large windows which I'm always a big fan of.

Ask the Community - Bento Box

Did they ever bring back the lunch buffet or is that gone forever now?

I asked a few months ago and the employee I asked said they don't have any plans to bring back the buffet.

Do they still have a lunch buffet and, if so, what are the hours?

I don't know if they have a lunch buffet. We have not been there for lunch.

Do they offer sushi boats?

Sorry I'm not sure because we didn't go for the sushi that night, but I can recommend Raku Sushi in West Sac. I think they have that plus all you can eat sushi during certain hours of the day.

When are the sushi rolls half off, during happy hour or all of the time?

All the time, as long is you eat in.

What is average price for lunch items on the menu?

$10

Have you ever tried their wine or get sick off of their sashimis?

This is a very odd question. Here's an odd and nonsensical response: puppies!

If it's possible to give a restaurant more than 5 stars, I would. Everything was fantastic, from…read morethe service, to the coziness of this restaurant. I wish I took pictures of the interior, as it felt so intimate and the seats were comfortable. The food of course, are the stars of the show, and I've never been blown away from how good everything was. The Pad See Ew had a yummy smoky, wok hei flavor that not a lot of places incorporate. The ribeye is cooked perfectly, green curry has a nice coconut sweetness to it. And the laotian sausage, paired with their sauce and sticky rice hits the spot. This place was indeed comforting and my only regret is not trying more items. If you're craving southeast asian cuisine in an intimate atmosphere, I can't recommend this place enough.

The location was a bit odd, as there were barely any other businesses nearby. There is street parking that you can pay for. It's a fairly small restaurant. We were were seated pretty quickly. Service was very friendly. I would say that portions were pretty reasonable. Things we ordered: -Pineapple fried rice: Very fragrant with the char and flavorful. Seasoned very well. We opted for mild spice on this. I would order this again. -Chicken pad thai: Done very well! Some places the pad thai is too sweet, but this one was very balanced and had a good tamarind flavor. Medium spicy was a bit on the spicy side, but perfect for me! Would order this again. -Duck larb: Unique, but I couldn't tell it was duck. My partner enjoyed this more than I did. The portion for the larb was on the smaller side and it came with some lettuce, radish, carrots, cucumbers. -Mee kati ground pork: A very unique dish that not many Thai restaurants seem to have, in which it came with noodles, and a variety of toppings like beans sprouts, lettuce, green beans, peanuts, and cilantro. It came with a fermented curry gravy, and it delicious! I would totally order this again. -Green Thai tea: Quite fragrant and not too full on half and half like some other places have it. It's also not as sweet as another local Thai restaurant. I would actually order this again. -Classic Thai tea: Strong Thai tea flavor, also not too sweet. Overall, Hiso was a great Thai/Lao restaurant and I would totally come back and recommend this place!

I came in on a Monday around 11:40 am, was seated right away since I was the first customer, and my food came out in less than 10 minutes. The ambiance was simple with some greenery. The waitress was tentative and so kind. I believe her and the nice gentleman are the owners, I could be wrong. I ordered the sushi tacos - unagi, ebi, and sake. It was a major flavor explosion in my mouth and I can't wait to go back!! Thanks to TikTok, I had to try this. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!! Oh, I took the unagi to-go because I was so full but ai suggest you eat it right away because the shell will get soft. I still downed it though, so yummy!!

We tried the: Sake (salmon) sushi taco, 7.5/10 Katsu Don, 9/10 Gyudon, 7/10 Flavors of the food were good and the house made chili oil was a nice touch as well. The gyudon was a bit on the dry and chewy side, but other than that, still enjoyed my visit.

Yes, today was our first. I'm a sucker for excellent customer service and Cafe Burma and Mikayla had me at HELLO. LOL NOTE: I DIDN'T DO ANY PRE- REVIEW UPON ARRIVING. The husband wanted a Monday Date night and who am I to say No. What we had: *Planta with Chicken Coconut Dip. This planta is a crossover of naan with Mochi like middle with the prefect crisp served with an amazing Chicken sauce. Yah...will be having this again. Hubby had most of it because I was saving my appetite for what's to come. *TeaLead Salad - Yes its a MUST. The fried seasoned garlic is the secret to why this salad hits the palate in the most perfect way. The dressing is oil based which wasn't over powering or even greasy. The peanut was tastefully done. Yes - I ate most of it. Fresh ingredients in every bite. *Chili Basil Beef - at first glance, it looked like Mongolian Beef but far from the taste. The cumin, ginger and chili flakes gave this dish the wow factor. Mind you, I dislike ginger pieces and didn't come across one piece so they must have used ginger powder which I appreciate. We all know the benefits of ginger and I feel like I got a dose of it without biting into one. *PadThai - we were warned that the Burmese way come with a hint of sweetness and this was definitely true but notoverpowering. Husband enjoyed it, me not so much. The dishes came with extra large prawns. You can tell the prawns we're seasoned first hand before getting tossed into the mix. DRINKS: Husband had the coconut monsoon (rum with coconut flakes and I had Bite Dog HAZY IPA - yum. Prime location - corner of 16th street and J, street parking. Restaurant was clean and with a bar and open kitchen concept. What I would have liked: I wish the aesthetic of the restaurant showcased the culture. Wish the dishes were served in a more traditional serving plates. My eyes eat first so I would have appreciated the extra touch but the TASTE definitely made up for it. Will definitely be back! Need to try a dessert next time. Thanks for having us Chef Burma.
