The person at the register was friendly and asked good questions to clarify my order so I get the right things. This restaurant is on a corner downtown with parking on many sides (a paid lot is also on the same block if needed). Today I order my usual. The Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. I love the side salad and the generous chicken. The white rice is a little too much for me so I ate half. Not a fan of pickled cucumber but appreciate the overall variety these boxes offer. I also ordered the small mixed tempura. This has huge sliced carrots, a broccoli, asparagus, zucchini, and two shrimp. Came in town for the night and was looking for a good place for dinner. Thought it would be a good choice but service was 1 star of 5 stars for me. Asian waiter that was in charge of our area felt like he didn't like his job. No offer on refills. Forgot to get an item I asked for. We had to remind him and it wasn't even busy. Food was 3 stars for me. Calamari was below a zero for me and do not recommend it. They don't even have tartar sauce to serve along with it. First time and not so good experience for me. I have always ordered our Bento Boxes from the one on 65th and Folsom Blvd and it is delicious. We moved to Midtown and I have ordered the same teriyaki beef from the Midtown store and I actually thought they forgot the teriyaki sauce. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE OWNER!!!!!!! My friend was extremely drunk and ordered two drinks for me and her, as the waitress came back for the bill, my friend tried to pay for the drinks but couldn't get her pin (because she was blacked out drink) the waitress couldn't get the payment because my friend couldn't figure out her pin. The owner was relentless and kept trying to force her to pay for the drinks (mind you we didn't even receive the drinks) and the owner threatened to call the cops on her if we didn't pay and gave her the nastiest evil eye glare while embarassing her in front of everyone while she was innocently trying to remember her pin and pay because she was too drunk. The owner made a scene and refused to let her leave, pressuring her to to pay claiming she needs a pin, she tried for about 20 minutes, (even though knowing she was visibly too drunk and impaired) and was claiming to call the cops if she tried to leave. I was appalled by the racism and hostile treatment we received. This is extreme harassment and disgusting customer service, do not go to bento box ever; that's who you will be paying and supporting. Pre-pandemic I used to hit the Bento Box at least once a week to hit the buffet and devour as much sashimi as possible. They discontinued their buffet during the pandemic and have not bought it back post-pandemic, so the only reason to go is for ramen or sushi. I don't like their sushi (expensive for what you get), but decided to give their ramen a try. Mistake. I ordered a $15 seafood ramen to go and got 4 clams, 3 shrimps, 3 slices of calamari, and the equivalent of 4 dried ramen blocks. I won't be returning unless they open up their sushi buffet where I can pick and choose what I eat and feel like I got my moneys worth. My bf and I went in during the typical weekday lunch hour, and were seated upon entry. The establishment was fairly empty with maybe 6 other patrons. The waitress came, took our order, and left. We waited at least 30 minutes, but our food never came. No one came to update us on the status of our food, no water refills, no nothing. I began to search for our waitress, only to see her in a deep conversation with the table behind us. When I asked her about the food, she seemed confused and didn't even attempt to check on the status of the order nor did she apologize for the delay. Ordered Vegetable Ramen to go and went to pick up the order . They said it was 15$ and I thought it was odd because the vegetable ramen is usually only 10$. Got home and checked the receipt, they charged 12$ for the vegetable ramen and charged me for a water I did not have? In the heart of Downton Sac, Bento Box has a great location. It's your standard Japanese restaurant. The ambience and interior is good. The service was actually really impressive. We were seated almost immediately. And this was for a group of 7 during dinner rush. Our waiter was really friendly and funny. He was very attentive. The food came out quickly as well. The food was good tasting, but not stellar. I do think they are somewhat overpriced...especially when it comes to the sushi. However, they really shine with their bento boxes. read more

This establishment is a joke. I had problems with my card and I communicated to them that I would need more time to close out. I got here at 6:30pm and I left at 7:45pm.
