Simply one of, if not the best, customer service teams. Bob, Jjagar, and Bel are professional, courteous, helpful, and explain everything well. I love my Volkswagen, so I only wanted the best service for it, which is what I always received at Berge through this team. There are multiple places to receive service for vehicles, but you won't receive the same type of customer service. I never felt pressured for any service to my car, nor did I feel overcharged. I always asked questions about what was being, or needed to be, done. They always answered everything clearly to help me understand. Unfortunately, I had to move for work, so I can't get my car serviced with them anymore. However, if you have a Volkswagen, or any other car for that matter, I highly recommend Berge and their service team. You will never be disappointed and they will always treat you well. The service department is a scam. DO NOT USE THEM! Our 2016 Passat overheated. The fans had stopped working. After having the car all day for the diagnostic, they called 5 minutes or so before close/6pm to advise us it was the fan. It's out of warranty. And that they couldn't complete the diagnostic until we fixed the fans or we risked damaging the engine. The quote to replace the fans, around $1000, included 2 sets of fans. We were told that the diagnostic could be completed later. We had Bob Herbold email us a copy of the estimate so we could shop for prices. Oh. And of course we were told the vehicle wasn't drivable. Which is bullshit. We added coolant and monitored the temperature closely for the drive to another location. So first thing the next morning we called Performance Automotive and Tire Center in Mesa off Superstition. HIGHLY RECOMMEND PERFORMANCE AUTO! The quoted cost was half what Berge provided. With a longer warranty on the parts and labor. We went back to Berge to ask if they'd match or negotiate the price. And their response was "We can't do that". Ok. Got the car (40 minutes later??) and drove to Performance Auto. As Performance Auto started work we find out that Berge was over ordering parts on the estimate. One set of fan includes everything that is required. Obviously labor is more at the dealership. BUT TO PURPOSELY OVER CHARGE CUSTOMERS FOR DUPLICATE PARTS IS ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL. Had we actually used them I would pursue it further. For now PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM!!! And if you've gotten work done. Double check at another location to assure that they didn't over charge you!! We will never shop or use any Berge every again. This review would be 0 stars if able. read more

Service was friendly but I'm not too happy with the money and time spent here. I took my car in because my brakes were squealing and car was driving a little weird. Went in with 70k miles and agreed to do the inspection for that. obviously a break inspection was paid for, but when I mentioned replacing I was told that they would just check them out first then go into replacing if needed. got a call after the car was checked ( in a timely manner so that's good) but was told about $1000 worth of repairs that were needed plus new tires that I was also needing, one of which being a brake flush and that was all about the brakes. I agreed to all of the services besides the tires because my tires are not worn, I figured Id be good to go with what else was being recommended. Welllll false. Got my car back to a shaking steering wheel and bouncing while on the freeway, called bob back and was told that I needed a balance ( which should have been done when my tires were rotated ) So went back in to get that resolved to then be told that they shouldn't do the balance until I get new tires so I was turned away for their mistake. Now a few day later my break squealing is much worse and I'm $1000 in the hole with my car driving worse then when I took It in,. I wont even go back to let them fix it. I went to discount tire and was told I was no where near needing new tire. I'm just going to take more of my money else where to resolve it. read more

Bob does an amazing job of asking questions about my concerns and my budget. He was able to give me short term and long term repair maintenance on my 2007 Passat. Bought a jetta from berge, worst experience ever. DO NOT GO TO BERGE. The sales person was really nice, but the finance person was the worst. I did the paperwork and had copies of everything. Took the car home and then I started getting calls from them saying that everything was incomplete. I had to go back multiple times a week for about two months until everything was finally correct on their end. Also, because of them having everything incomplete, I had to jump through hoops just to make sure my first payment was made on time. I wish I would have gone elsewhere to buy a car. It was not worth the headache I had to go through. read more

can I give negative stars? Wanted to buy a Tiguan SE and went and test drove one. Negotiated a price on a 36 month lease and when I got there, they made me sit for almost 2.5 hours to try and charge me $100 a month more. I even showed them the email I had from their sales person showing the price we had negotiated. NEVER AGAIN will I even think about going to a Berge Dealership. AWFUL EXPERIENCE! I brought my car in for a recall at 7am and they told me over the phone it wouldn't take more than about 2-4 hours, however the guy there told me it wouldn't be done until early afternoon which put me at around 6 hours. So they lied! I asked for a car to take cause I had appointments and they said they don't do that because the car wasn't down (broken) which is ridiculous! So I had to cancel my appointments. So finally they get me a LYFT and when I called around noon to make sure that the car would still be ready by 1:30pm, which is what I was told, another guy (Bob) I talked to said it wouldn't be ready until the end of the day. When were they going to tell me that?! I told him that that was unacceptable because I was told different and I had to be at work in the afternoon and then pick up my wife from work...he didn't care at all. They weren't willing to make things right and let me have a car to use. I'm so disappointed that I gave them my business by buying a Volkswagen car and they don't give a crap about me and the massive inconvenience this caused me. As a loyal customer I would've expected Volkswagen to take care of their own, but all they care about is their own agenda and what's convenient for them! I will never take my car to this location ever again and I will NEVER buy a Volkswagen ever again either. That's also because the cars themselves have so many problems that I've experienced and they charge a ridiculous amount of money to do work on them. I've had other terrible experiences at this particular location with repairs and such that they royally screwed me over on. I had been looking for a new car primarily to use for commuting. I currently drive a full size SUV and gas adds up. My truck is paid off so we weren't in a hurry to purchase. My husband and I went to at least 5 different dealerships in the valley, from Toyota to Hyundai, to ford and Mazda. We finally decided to stop by Volkswagen, nothing really there that "caught my eye" per say, but we we willing to give it a chance. Peter Vallejo welcomed us and immediately we knew we were comfortable with him. Peter knew the cars inside and out!!! Very professional, no sales pitches, just simply doing his job, taking a step back and letting us drive an ask questions. We didn't buy on that day, we did some more research and decided to go back to see him this time to purchase. The entire staff treated us with great curtesy and respect, we were never pressured to buy. This is a great company and a great vehicle. We ended up buying a Passat! The service department deliberately caused a leak in the gas tank just so I'd have to come back and have it repaired again, which I confirmed with another mechanic who normally services my car. When the mechanic and I pointed out that it was their mistake and that the repair was under warranty, they got rude and nasty. Probably going to report them to a consumer protection agency. I purchased a 2015 convertible volkswagen beetle, back in May of this year. A toffee in color, with a beige tan top. Anyway, I believe I have had to bring it in now 3 times. But, the first time I brought it in, was a frantic panic on my part, for it was the first time every driving a volkswagen before, and I thought the brakes wasn't working, and some other things too. This was the first time I met my service advisor Mrs. Cassandra Lux. Berge Volkswagen, should be very proud to have this beautiful and very professional lady, about her title, which I see her not just as a service advisor. But, a person who I know, has made me feel special and important, when I bring my sweetheart beetle in. I have a 2014 chevrolet equinox, that I purchased at auto nation, and the service is like night to day, compared to the service I am treated by Mrs. Lux at Berge. Actually, the others have been friendly as well. Especially, the service they give my beetle. I'm sure they go out their way to treat all of us the same equal way, but I feel I get treated a little extra from the rest. Lol! So, I wanted to share this with you all, and if you're looking for a new car from Santa, direct him over to Berge Volkswagen and Maza. I really didn't need another vehicle, because I had just purchased that equinox. But, the people were professional and work with me, and that toffee color beetle caught my eye as well. I bought a used VW here with low miles. The salesman and the manager assured me there was nothing wrong with the car but a month later I ended up in service to the tune of a couple grand. Service said these were issues that have been going on a while and were recommended when the car arrived on the lot. Service tried to pass it off as poor communication between the service department in the sales department. Whatever. I still referred a friend there and the friend bought a car. Under the referral program, I was supposed to receive a check for $100 since my friend bought a car. That was almost a year ago and despite having phoned them for or five times asking where my check was, I still haven't received it and I'm sure I never well. Horrible service. I dropped off my car for a routing oil change and service. I preferred dealerships because they use OEM parts and "usually" have a good reputation for their work and their ethics. Berge Volkswagen, is the exception to this stereotype. In performing the service in my car, they found that another part needed replaced. I said that was ok and they "completed" the work and I left. About a month later my car overheated. I opened the hood to find that they had left the oil cap off and it was still sitting on the engine. That's not a big deal as accidents do happen, however when I went to check my oil I found that the dipstick funnel had been broken in two places. I returned to Berge and asked them to remedy their mistake and they denied any liability. I know that I, nor anyone else so much as opened the hood on my car in that time so it HAD to be their mistake. After paying again to have those parts fixed through Berge, I had the part that they had originally replaced (I believe it's called a jet suction pump), break in half. I will not be returning to this dealership for a new car nor service ever again. Horrible craftsmanship, terrible business ethics and customer service. read more

Bought a car from them 12 days ago. Now they tell me that my car pymt will be much higher than they thought and would not include the extended warranty. I told them upfront my credit was not great and was there on a Wednesday afternoon. Apparently 6 hours and a change of vehicle choice was not enough for them to figure out this mystery car pyment issue. I went there for a Passat, left with a Jetta TDI and will be returning the TDI on Saturday. Ethically,they shouldhave never let me leave the lot with the car. I had been warned about this from others but chose to challk it up to bad experience, but it was absolutely true. The manager Dan, told me this was common practice at any AZ car dealer and if this is true it is a sad, riduculous thing. I have purhcased many cars in AZ and never had this happen before. Do your home work if you are going to shop with Berge. Total unethical bs! read more

I wish I could recommend Berge Volkswagon with 6 or 7 stars (because if I could I would!). They made purchasing a car easy and enjoyable. Our first point of contact was with Russ (Customer Care Representative) after we requested a few quotes from TrueCars. He consistently provided the lowest quote which gave us reason to visit their location to take a couple of test drives. Russ was personal, friendly and professional when we arrived. My wife made it clear that we would walk at the first sign of "shadiness." He looked us both in the eyes and told us he was representing Mr. Berge and everyone in the showroom was committed to dealing with us as if Mr. Berge himself were selling us a car. He handed us off to Deandre, a Sales Consultant who had only been with the dealership for a short time. He was friendly, polite and knowledgeable and wasn't afraid to admit if he didn't know something and quickly consulted with senior staff to get us the information we requested. Did I say he was polite? If I had a dollar for every time he called me "sir" I could have dramatically reduced my monthly payment. All that to say is we never felt pressured and he quickly helped us choose the model that would best fit our needs. That's when he introduced us to Matt, the Sales Manager (or as my wife called him, "The Closer"). This is where we were prepared to get up and walk out if we didn't get what we asked for (or felt he was playing a shell game with us). Can I just say, working with Matt was pleasant and easy. There was no haggling because he gave us everything we asked for. We had done our homework so we knew what was a good price for what we wanted. Matt gave us a great price. He even honestly shared the pros and cons of the financing options we asked about. Both were very favorable and I think I even asked him if he was us which one he would choose. The point is...I trusted him. We didn't leave with a car that evening because a few details had to be worked out to get us the exact car we wanted. So we returned the following day and they had nearly all of the paperwork waiting for us when we arrived. At this point we would have dealt with their finance manager but because he was busy helping someone Matt jumped in so we didn't have to wait. As he was going through our paperwork we realized there was a pretty significant misunderstanding on one item. This is where the true character of this dealership was tested. Rather than arguing with us, he acted in good faith and quickly conceded our point. At first I thought he was upset with us for contesting something he felt was clearly communicated to us. However, I later learned he was more concerned that we might have felt he and his dealership was being perceived as having acte in a "shady" manner. We assured him we didn't feel that way and expressed our gratitude for making the situation right with us. We love our new car. We loved our experience with everyone at Berge. And we can't recommend the Berge family of dealerships more highly. They truly made Mr. Berge proud! read more

I visited berge to see if they could help me out with a predicament I got into with honda to be honest I only went to the dealer for a test drive of a 2017 Golf TSI . I have bought from them before and I love buying from them and using their service department.However this visit was unsavory because the sales person I was partnered with didn't like my credit profile or my trade in he wouldn't even let me Test Drive the car I wanted to see. He wouldn't show me the car or anything till he saw my credit and in my opinion that's back wards. I really like that car and I had a few avenues of bying it of a trade wasn't going to work but he turned me away ....because of my credit. Which isn't bad I don't have any derogatory marks and my payment history is immaculate but the number isn't the highest and he turned me away when I came back the second day to see if somebody else could show me the car he came out and wouldn't even unlock the doors because 'he told me the truth I should just accept it' then he proceeded to approach me in the lobby after I had walked away from him to insult my understanding of car bying and "show me basic math" It was rude and awful I left the dealer upset because I couldn't even see the car I was interested in other than the outside. But I have a nice ding on my credit from Berge Mazda- Volkswagen I don't think I'll ever buy anything from Berge ever again but I think that man should be reprimanded or terminated or something because he's no good in sales. read more

I just had my 2010 Jetta Sportwagon serviced. I'm taking a 1600 mile road trip over thanksgiving and I wanted to be sure it was in perfect working order. Bob Herbold is my service consultant. He recommended I have some suspension parts repaired and a multi-point inspection. He got all this done, and a complimentary car wash, in less than 1.5 hours. Everything is great. Do NOT, I repeat NOT, ever go to Berge. I had bought 3 of my 9 Bugs from then and most all problems were under warranty, so at that point I had no problems. Until the day I flattened 2 tires from hitting a curb. I have worked for an airline in Phoenix for 26 years and it was bound to happen sooner or later. Somebody realized that they were in the wrong lane for their airline and swerved in front of me. I reacted and hit the curb instead of them and flattened the 2 passenger side tires immediately. There is a tire place near the airport where I had the tires replaced and went to Berge knowing I should get an alignment to make sure everything was ok. The car seemed to drive just fine but the next day I received a call from their service manager saying the frame was bent and I would need $3000 worth of body work. I obviously did not want to put it on my insurance if possible, because regardless of the situation it would impact my insurance rates I was sure. The Service Advisor said if I changed insurance no one would know. What the Service Advisor didn't know, of course, was that my daughter had been an assistant parts manager for one of the biggest dealerships in Arizona. I called her and told her what had happened. She called her old boss ( she and her family had transferred out of state) and he said to bring the car in to him. He did an alignment and told me no such problem existed and that the car would never have driven with the type of frame damage that Berge said had happened. Needless to say, I have never returned to Berge and never will again and have told anyone I know who is contemplating a VW purchase to stay away from Berge. read more

Can I just say, I had one of THE best car buying experiences at Berge. I had gone to a different dealership to look at a used Ford Expedition but my husband loved the new Atlas so we drove over. Immediately Deandre? Sp (Sorry Dre haha), cane out and greeted us but it wasn't your typical what are you looking for greeting. He took the time and asked everyone's name, it was my husband, brother in law, two kids and myself. We chatted for a bit and then I finally got to the we're looking at an atlas spiel. I'm not going to go step by step of our visit but Dre was amazing at letting the car do the talking for itself. I personally hate when people are talking my ear off about the vehicle. Instead, he told me the features and then went more into the people side of his job and we all just talked about life itself while we were getting a feel for the vehicle! Needless to say, we walked out with a beautiful Atlas and I can't be more thankful to have found Dre who has to be the best car salesman I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Also, the finance manager Earl was awesome. He made me laugh and laugh and I can tell you that's always nice when you're dealing with a stressful situation like buying a car.
