We got the special banh Mi and the grilled pork banh Mi, both were delicious. The baguette is perfectly crusty on the outside, pickled vegetables are fresh, and the meat is very well-seasoned. We also got a large iced milk coffee. The coffee is definitely strong here, as it should be! It is sweet but without overpowering the coffee taste. We also got a large meatball bun. It's huge! We could only finish half after each having a sandwich. This bun is only available thurs-Sun, highly recommend trying it. It is definitely homemade and not frozen. The were just totally bland and a little oily, but still edible, especially because I was very hungry. I also ordered an eclair, which looked gorgeous. However, looks aren't everything. This is a great lunch spot with some of the best banh mi in town. A huge menu of different sandwich options - go with the grilled pork or #1 original if you want something more authentic. There are also some rice bowls, steamed pork buns and a shelf with bakery items. There is an equally large menu of bubble teas and drinks. The Vietnamese iced coffee is pre-made, but good. Comes in small or large. There is also a fridge with drinks and typical fountain drinks. You order and pay at the counter. Service is good and fast. Expect to pay 5 cents if you want a paper bag. I think many people do take-out, but there is a decent sized area with seating as well. Multiple tables for 2-4 ppl each. Plenty of parking with a private lot shared with other stores. Came in after 5p. No pickle dressing on Bahn Mi vegetables. Had before. Ate in car, returned and asked about it and told the staff who prepare it are gone but yes they do pickle them. Asked him to ask if they could see if they were out and told no one is in the kitchen....I said but someone made the sandwiches. Teller asked a girl if she knew how to make another customers order. But idk what happened yesterday, BLT was wayyyyy saltier than ever it wasn't Mayo they put something else in .. Since when you put cheese in it ? It's not even on the menu. My only regret was not giving these guys a chance to try their Bánh mì. Even the few Bánh mì my daughter and I could eat, we just bypassed them for Bubble Tea instead. I wouldn't know if Best Baguette has the best Bánh mì version compared to a more straight up sandwich spot, but MiniMe had first hand experience when she was here in 2017 and raved about their Vegan Bành mì. Vibe Is fast-foodish with a real legit crowd. I wouldn't call their sandwiches "banh mi" exactly. Maybe they took inspiration from banh mi, then adjusted it to fit the taste of Oregonians. That's probably why they call it a generic "Asian sandwich" instead. The bread itself is more like a European baguette, which is denser and more doughy than the Vietnamese version. The pickle is mostly carrots that needed more time in the brine. I didn't get a lot of flavor from the meat (my Vietnamese meatball has no marinade). I do like their mayo, so that's 1 out of 4. This place is aptly named; it's been my go-to for banh mi for at least the past 10 years. The sandwiches are large, delicious, and fresh, made with bread baked in-house. My favorites are the #1, made with head cheese, pate, pork roll, and who knows what else, but is it so tasty. When it's cold out, I like the #4, which is warm grilled pork, perfectly seasoned. I love the Kewpie mayo on every sandwich too. Service is quick and friendly, and I usually grab a sweet bun to eat for breakfast the next day. I always get the #1 (the traditional banh mi with head cheese, pate, and other sliced meats) or # 4 with BBQ pork, which is nice tender pieces of pork--not sliced char siu. The sandwiches come with pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro, and jalapeños. You can customize it if you don't want jalapeños, for example, and if you get it to-go, you can get the vegetables "on the outside," packaged in a separate baggie so the bread doesn't get soggy. They come on their house-made French baguettes, which are light and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They also make a large assortment of buns, with fillings ranging from char siu to taro and red bean, every morning, which make a nice snack or breakfast the next day.
