Afternoon tea at Bergdorf. It's old school and very charming. The room is quaint and it's traditional tea service with a delicious selection of freshly made scones and delicious finger sandwiches. It's not as elite as it used to be and serves a rather diverse crowd of the rich and posh with a mix of people who are there fir the thrill of tea at Bergdorf. Service was a tad disappointing and we waited longer than we should have especially considering how light the crowd was. BG Restaurant is one of my favorite places to go for an afternoon tea with a view. It's located on the 7F of the Bergdorf Goodman - a great place to get a sip during my shopping breaks! During the weekends it gets quite packed but you can always put your name down and come back when the tables are available. I'd also recommend to always ask for a window seat for the stunning Central Park view. It has a great view of the southern Central Park and the Plaza Hotel, so if you have guests visiting from out of town, it's also a nice place to take them. I've tried both their dinner and afternoon tea, and most of the food I tried are pretty good, although a little overpriced. Their desserts are amazing and my favorite savory option goes to their deviled eggs and duck dumplings! I was just there a few days ago, and it seems they now work with Aubi & Ramsa on the ice cream options. Would love to come back again and give it a try! read more

I came here yesterday for lunch because they close at 7:00 so there is no dinner. I was informed they close later during the holiday season. I made the reservation for 5:30 and was there early. They seated me when I arrived and did not make me wait for my friend. The place is nice and you do have a view overseeing Central Park. I would say their decor is beautiful; those water glasses are colorful and playful. The seating is comfortable just a bit low for me. As I waited for my friend I ordered a passion spritz which was so delicious. Then we ordered the tea time and that was good. Our waitress Jessica was very nice and would check on us frequently. I chose the roobious tea and she refilled it so we had two pots of tea each; along with one glass of champagne and the tea pastries. I thought I would be hungry but it was very filling. The sandwiches were egg; ham and cheese and chicken salad. One of the sandwiches had stale bread; besides that the sandwich options were fine. The lox sandwich was very good and fresh. The caviar puff was good as well. Then I had the scone which was delicious and my favorite item from the tea time. I have never had such a delicious scone; I wonder if they sell it alone; of if you have to buy the tea time. The marmalades which came with the scone were also delicious. The deviled egg was also good and it had the right balance of flavors. I had the chocolate pastry and that was good and I had the lemon tart. Overall I think this was really nice experience and I do recommend it. My only complaint is the stale bread on one of the sandwiches which is why I took off one star. But please make a reservation in advance otherwise you may be rejected for a walk in as it has limited space and is VERY popular for afternoon high tea. You get wonderful views mostly from any seat in the house of Central Park, and the decor is exactly what you'd want for such a bougey place. Service is usually on point even though sometimes they do have their off days but I don't experience the off days that often when I go. I was looking for a place for afternoon tea, and found BG Restaurant on a Travel and Leisure list of the 10 best places for afternoon tea is NYC. I was able to easily make a reservation online through OpenTable. Afternoon tea is served daily from 11:30 am to 5 pm. I was fairly underwhelmed by the service. When I arrived, no one was at reception, and while many servers walked by no one greeted me. It took about 5 minutes before someone returned and found my reservation. My server behaved much the same way once I was seated. He didn't check in much and was hard to track down for the check. Afternoon tea with a glass of champagne is $100. It comes with a few mini sandwiches, a scone, and a few desserts. While I was asked if I had any allergies, I was never provided with a menu or told when the food arrived what was in each item. Some were more obvious than others, but presentation wise, it would have been nice to have a menu to refer back to with the list of items and/or being told at some point which sandwiches were which. The food quality was good. The overall experience was lacking. read more

It was a great experience for the price and in a great location. Overall the service was lacking and the noise level was insane. I asked for a new pot of tea since the one I had was bitter since it had over steeped. The waiter brought the new teapot but didn't take away the cup full of tea so I couldn't pour myself another cup and ended up spilling all over the table which no one noticed nor took care of. If we're experiencing an elevated service, the service needs to be better. Also stopping by the windows on the way to our table to see the central park views would have been nice too. read more

I've been to BG several times for lunch and every time the food and service were superb. It's an upscale place with prices to match, but it's a great dining experience. Among my favorites are their deviled eggs, duck dumplings, lobster mac and cheese, tuna and salmon poké, and their jumbo lump crabcake salad which is absolutely to die for. Alas, they discontinued my favorite dessert which was pumpkin crème brûlée, but their tiramisu is very good. The place is jam-packed for lunch, so reservations are strongly recommended. read more

The absolute WORST afternoon tea I have ever had. The sandwiches were stale and the bread was getting hard. You get two tiny scones and the pastries were smaller than bite size. We paid $150 plus tip for, no joke, $25 worth of food. The pasties looked like they came premade from Costco, and we got a deviled egg and a cucumber on the plate. Very upscale dining with outstanding attentive service. I came here with my family for tea service and we added some additional menu items. I chose the deviled eggs, they were delish with a creamy filling and pancetta topping. My sister had the poke bowl; this was the best poke bowl I've ever had-super fresh with sesame and edamame and radishes oh my! My niece had the duck dumplings. These were perfectly cooked and full of meat. We didn't even use the soy sauce. For the tea service we had the grand royale which includes a glass of champagne. The service was quick and finger food was delicious; our server described every item on every tier: finger sandwiches, scones and pastries with jams, buttercream and honey. The tea was excellent as well we had the nuit d'ete (fruity) and the english (sweet n creamy). Overall a wonderful experience and we will be returning. 5 star! read more

Afternoon tea at Bergdorf's was a classy and delightful affair! On the 7th floor, this restaurant is amidst beautiful rooms, furniture, home goods, flower arrangements, bridal suite, perfumes, teas, chocolates and other treats. There were no window seats open when my friend and I arrived, but they seated us in blue whisper chairs in the center of the main dining area. The decor was lovely and modern with cream colored walls and unique designs in the front then pale blue floral wall paper where we were. Very elegant and posh ambiance. The price of the afternoon tea service is $45 per person, which I thought was reasonable, especially for such a high end place. If you want to get even fancier, the Tea Service Royale includes Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut and is $62 per person. There were 10 different teas to select from and I ordered the Jardin Bleu (which was recommended). It was a blend of teas from China and India, with notes of rhubarb, wild strawberry and cornflower petals. I enjoyed this aromatic and sweet tea with a touch of milk - I didn't need to add sugar. The 3 tiered plate for the afternoon plate was quite impressive and everything looked absolutely wonderful! There were 5 types of finger sandwiches, scones served with fruit preserves and Devonshire cream, macarons, lemon tarts, chocolate cake, chocolates and cookies. My top favorite sandwiches were the truffle chicken and ham with brie. The truffle one was amazing and had such a potent truffle flavor. I can never get enough truffle! The ham and brie one had plenty of both ingredients and was hearty with a yummy tasting sauce. Then there was an egg salad sandwich which was pretty good. Surprisingly, I thought the smoked salmon, marbled with cheese, topped with caviar was decent. Usually I am not a fan of either smoked salmon or cavair. The cream cheese and cucumber one was just okay. I was impressed and happy about the touches of aristocratic ingredients used in the sandwiches. The scones were freshly baked and had visible bits of apricot and berries throughout. They were still warm, very moist, perfectly crumbly and that Devonshire cream was divine - Rich, thick, smooth. Combined with the strawberry or apricot preserve jam, it made for a real treat. All the desserts were so delicious! The multi layered chocolate cake was intensely chocolate-y and the cake itself was so soft and fluffy. There were also these little cakes: One was covered with expresso and the other had vanilla. Both were little bites of heaven. The sugar cookies were sweet and crunchy. The lemon tarts with raspberries were definitely tart, yet refreshing. I think the ones I liked the least were the macarons (strawberry one and a coffee one) because I have high standards when it comes to macarons. They were nicely flaky and chewy though. Service was pleasant throughout. Our waitress was on top if it. She gave a description of what was on the plates when she brought it out to us and she made sure to refill our tea pots with hot water. Toward the end, she let us know that it was the end of our shift and the following waiter was nice but it took him awhile to provide us with the bill. Overall, a grand experience and way to spend the afternoon. As an added bonus, this afternoon tea will actually satisfy your appetite! read more

In August 2024, when I came back to visit, I was delighted to see Adham Kandalaft back at BG. Adham made me and my Vegas friends feel truly welcome, sitting us down and giving us terrific recommendations. My friends were impressed with the professional service, the quality of the food and the beautifully decorated interiors. Adham introduced us to our terrific server, Maya, who warmly and efficiently gave us our food and cleared the way for our desserts. Adham also gives us terrific advice about the menu and things to do in New York City After retiring to Las Vegas, I took four of my Nevada friends and one New York friend to BG restaurant on August 9, 2024. My friends and I were amazed by the beauty of the restaurant, the delicious food, and, most importantly, the terrific hospitality. If you are lucky you could get windowside table with view to the plaza fountain. Make sure to reserve in advance. I enjoy going to afternoon tea. Service: We were running late for our afternoon tea reservation so I called ahead to put them on notice. Shirley, was a hotess I spoke with politely adjusted our reservation and let me know she would alert the team. Isaura was our server. She was pleasant and attentive. Tea Selection: For the tea selection, I had the Citrus roibis tea. Mom had the Peppermint and sis had the Jardin Blue. We each were able to refill our cups three to four times. Now, when one goes to TEA, you expect great quality tea. Unfortunately, my tea was just ok. I expected to enjoy a higher quality, stronger tasting tea from an establishment such as BG. While we waited --- which was a pretty long wait in my opinion --about 20 mins after the tea arrived for the tower of sandwiches and treats arrived. During this time, I observed that the staff changed the table cloth after each guest left, a signal of fine dining which is admirable, but expensive to maintain no? (I suggest putting some nice glass over those tablecloths and call it a day). The seating along the wall were quite close together but we made it work and I was able to take in the view of Central Park in the background. Sandwiches: My personal fave was the Salmon caviar, then the Brie without the ham, third was the egg sandwhich, and rounding out the list was the cucumber dill. Scones with the Devonshire cream were solid. Assorted Sweet treats ranked from best to least appetizing: Strawberry layered treat, pistachio macaroon, vanilla macaroon, chocolate coffee cake, lemon meringue, tiramisu, and a mini sugar cookie . I must say: First, I expected the restaurant to be a bit more opulent than it was. It may be because I could tell the signature green chairs and sky blue leather seats were a bit worn. The wallpaper and light fixtures were beautiful to look at. Plus, the baby blue Versailles chairs were very elegant, lavish, and quite perfect for a Instagram photo op, which I definitely took advantage of.- But it may be time for a makeover BG. Second: I understand that prices have gone up in the city, but I have also noticed that the portion sizes of the sandwiches have gotten smaller compared to the presentation of pictures from prior years provided by yelpers. I don't have an issue paying for quality as I thoroughly think these sandwiches were better in taste and freshness than Lady Mendel's Tea Salon but the portions were smaller than a generous tea experience from Alice's Tea Cup. read more

I typically look at Service & Food as equally important when I write reviews and this is probably by 5th time at BG and every time the service gets worse and worse. I'm probably not going to go back unless I'm extremely hungry and there is a walk in available. They didn't want to seat us when 2/3 party was present after making a reservation. There should be already table for us so what's the hold up? The older host lady was very not welcoming and had an attitude. From the moment we entered and by the time we were being seated we started the lunch with a bit of frustration. The food was great- probably a bit more overpriced for what it is but still taste was good. It was about $230 bill and even during dining the service wasn't too great. So we tipped 15% and one of the guys that was in a suit questioned why I'm not tipping "enough" because I should tip at minimum 20%. So I responded, saids who? I was not very happy with the service and this is what I think is appropriate. Never again- I would give two stars but I think one star will do! read more

This is a special restaurant, in a special store with unparalleled history. Patrons should not take that for granted. The 7th floor of Bergdorf's is a marvel in and of itself. And the patronage of the store is captured in photos and letters in the hallway outside of BG....stop to take a look.... Ive dined here dozens of times. It's an incredibly beautiful setting. Perfect for a ladies' lunch; the actual epitome of perfection in that regard. The food is not my favorite (I prefer Palette's food menu (which is the restaurant in the basement on the cosmetics floor)). I've had good meals at BG there and bad, but the cocktails and wine are always as expected. I love the new mocktails (especially the Golden Pina, which can be spiked) and the desserts are lovely. Book the reservation to celebrate, have a special time with people you love or for a Tuesday. I should add that almost half of my times here have been dining alone and as a single female in my 30s from the South, I feel as comfortable at BG as anywhere I've ever been. read more

Beautiful and elegant. It got very busy the day I was here. I called the day before and was able to get an 11:30am reservation. Our waiter was lovely and helped our table choose the food we ordered. The restaurant is decorated in high tea style. I do wish there had a better selection of breakfast items on the menu. No pancakes, crepes or French toast. I ended up getting lobster bisque and a crab cake. Both were delicious but. It really "breakfast" food. I also ordered a mocktail. The price point didn't seem too high and I really enjoyed my time. I could have dinned longer but when I saw the line they were getting for people waiting to sit and eat my friend and I decided to get up, pay our bill and leave so someone else could enjoy the table. I always get treated to good food, drinks, and service here. My best friend comes here often, over the past few years, whenever she wanted to treat herself to a luxury high tea and a stunning view. Staff members are very pleasant, informative, and attentive. The restaurant and tables itself are always clean and well-kept. Coming here gives you a great culinary and social experience. In contrast to some other restaurants, here you get plenty of time to relax your food and enjoy your drinks without feeling rushed or pressured to finish quickly. The wine list is plentiful (with fabulous brut to accompany the high tea), the menu is as well, boasting many entree choices with options for anyone with food restrictions. Other sweets were average. Not worth the money. I guess paying so much and with it being BG, had high expectation and was below average. Had better sandwich at the Gas station. Had much better afternoon tea servings at oversees hotels at less then 1/2 the cost. Dining Area was pretty small and was very loud. Not a relaxing afternoon tea setting at all. I have been looking for a good afternoon tea spot in the city, and I found a nice place with a great view. It is located inside the Bergdorf Goodman, on the 7th-floor. The inside was much bigger than I expected. With many windows lining up along the wall facing the Grand Army Plaza, it was nice and bright. And the view, oh my, it is awesome! We could see the Grand Army Plaza with its golden sculpture really well. And, we could see into the Central Park as well. The view would be even more fantastic once the trees become more green in Spring and Summer. For afternoon tea, all the food items are pre-selected, only thing we need to choose is what kind of tea we want to go with the afternoon tea. They had nice selection of tea, and they use loose tea leaves, not tea bags. The three-tier afternoon tea kind of looked small at first glance, compared to some other ones I've had from other places. But, it was actually a good portion, not too much, not too little. On the bottom tier, they had savory items and tea sandwiches. Second tier was scones, with jams and devonshire cream. They only had two scones, but nice big size. The top tier was filled with petite sweets. They looked really great! I could not wait to get my hands into these ones! Everything was really good, tasty and well prepared. We enjoyed them all very much. It was almost surprisingly good, since I didn't have high expectation for some reason. Our server was friendly, attentive, and most of all, funny! We always love it when we have a great server. It makes the experience extra fun. Terrible service, they messed up my reservation which I had made well in advance. They were unwilling to fix their mistake by asking two people to move over one table so they could put two tables together. Instead they crammed six of us into a table for four. Terrible food. My steak might have been good had it not been burnt beyond recognition. Too salty and I couldn't eat the over charred broccoli either. It was all bitter and burnt to a crisp. I was so hungry I didn't want to wait for another or make my tablemates wait. I didn't eat any of the broccoli - it was so burnt it was disgusting. I tried to eat around my charred steak and had the sharp burnt edge scrape my throat. I've attached a zoomed-in photo (even in this photo you can tell how burnt the steak is). Will never eat here again. And I recommend you avoid it too. Crammed space, bad food, terrible service. read more

My friend made a reservation for afternoon tea on Valentine's day for both of our birthdays. So I guess this was my first attempt at galentine's day. The presentation is very nice and instagrammable, if you're into that. We had the tea set that comes with a glass of Champagne. Of course I couldn't finish it so my friend helped me finish. The pieces look small but we got full pretty quickly since we were eating away at a slow pace. We also got to choose tea flavor - they bring one pot of tea each for us, so it was a lot but I enjoyed the generous amount of tea. I had the nuit a Versailles (sencha green tea with bergamot, kiwi, yellow peach, orange blossom and violet flower) and it was so good that I wanted to buy some tea for use at home. I don't like tea that's too fruity, but this one maintained regular green tea flavor with a floral scent that didn't mess with the flavor. The cookies and mini pastries at the top of the tea set were super cute. This totally was a highlight of both our birthdays and I really appreciate that I had a memorable Valentine's day! read more
