We had come in for a meal and ordered some soup along with a few other dishes. A server brought over a couple of bowls for the soup but one of them was dirty (oil at the bottom of bowl along with fried oily batter on side of bowl). I called her back and asked for a new bowl. There I see herwalk to where the bowls are, and instead of giving me a clean bowl, she uses a yellow towel (a communal one that ALL the servers wipe their hands on) and wipes the bowl down and brings it back to our table. I couldn't believe my eyes! So, I called over another server and asked for the manager. Instead of getting the manager (since getting him or her would be useless at a Viet restaurant since they'd allow anything to save time and money), she apologized on the other server's behalf. The young thin server with glasses who wiped the bowl down with a filthy towel never came by to apologize. I think that the servers need another round of food handling course and each server at this restaurant should be closely monitored as they do not know the practice of basic cleanliness. It was just so disappointing because we, as well as many of our family members, have frequented this restaurant. Also, the food taste has also gone down. This place used to be great but when things are great, that's when management focus less on quality and customer satisfaction and more on saving a dollar here and there, even if it means potentially making customers sick. Even the rice was bone dry, tasted like two days old rice... bone dry. We felt chipped for spendings almost $200 for that on bad food. That bill was without any alcohol. Like adding spicy chili sauce and the green sauce that comes with it the escargot on it. The large escargot was a little too big and chewy for us but the broth it came in was excellent! The tiny creamy escargot was really good, reminds me of a creamy curry or coconut milk base broth. You can just suck out the juice and escargot but we used toothpicks for help too. We come here all the time and overall really enjoy it. Our usual order is the grilled catfish, razor clams, clam salad, grilled squid, and salted fried rice -- all consistently good. The only thing that's always puzzled me is the fish portion sizes. We usually ask for the small fish because with just the two of us we like to order 2-3 other dishes and try more of the menu. But every single time we're told they're out of the small fish, which means we have to order the medium. It ends up being way too much food for two people and we often have to skip other dishes we wanted to try. I've been coming here for almost 10 years, and in all that time they've always been out of the small fish. At this point I'm honestly not sure if they just never carry it or if it's meant to push people toward the medium size.
