I have sent my daughter TWICE to Big O Tires in Costa Mesa within six months! Once after her tire came flying off on the fwy at 65 miles (or more) - Thank God nobody got hurt - and the second time for another blown-out tire on the fwy!! I contacted John at the Costa Mesa shop and he was so helpful in taking care of not only my daughter's tire needs but her safety as well. He informed me of other issues that needed to be taken care of and also provided a Lyft service for her to go home and wait for her car. As a parent who does not live close by to my child, John's service and care for my daughter's safety completely put me at ease. She drove off feeling so much safer with now ALL new tires and much-needed rear brakes! John was also great enough to give me a discount for being a returning customer! One star for quickly answering the phones. I went here and spoke to John and he quoted me a certain price for new tires and brakes. The next day I got quoted from Steve for two tires and an oil change still pretty high without the brakes, and the prices weren't matching up or the communication. I got calls about things that needed to be done on top of what I was asking for and high quote prices. I ended up getting two tires, my screws on some of my tires were missing where the air valve is. Surprise tire pressure light goes on.. 3 of my 4 tires were super low! Spent the next evening trying to fill up a new tire where the hub cap was placed incorrectly by them. Couldn't get to it. Horrible!!! Stressful for me too... They didn't put air in the tires. The worst service I have experienced in some time. Do not go here if you have kids that rely on you to get from point A to point B because you will be screwed unless you pay their ridiculous prices maybe... It's a total rip off and shady.. my car felt worse after taking it to them. Also on top of paying for new tires they charge you for alignment, labor, and balancing.. Something isn't right. Customer service was terrible. Steve spoke over myself and my husband. Unacceptable. read more

It's the only place I feel comfortable taking my car. Today is no exception--I brought my car in to have a tail light bulb replaced and a mechanic accidentally broke the tail light lens. They had to order in the part for the next day, and I returned to have it replaced. They were very, very apologetic for the whole situation and replaced the tail light lens and all of the bulbs in both tail lights at absolutely no cost to me. The manager even sent me home with a coupon for a free oil change to boot--talk about customer service! It really speaks volumes to their customer service when you consider the fact that they're always busy and obviously don't have a hard time getting customers. Even so, they are willing to go above and beyond for just a single customer. That's the kind of customer service you really don't see anymore in ANY business place, let alone a mechanic shop. This place always delivers! They go out of their way to help but don't add on unnecessary charges. I have frequented the 17th street location for tires, windshield wipers.... but decided to have them replace my break pads and back rotors this time. They did an excellent job and price was fair! I came here based on a recommendation from a friend ....location is 90 minutes from my home but it was well worth it. Have an 03 vette that needed tires. David and the entire staff was very nice courteous and respectful during my time there. I witnessed the staff interact with many customers in the same way. My Vette has an awesome set of tires and rides soooo smooth....alignment is on point. I will definitely make the 1.5 to 2 hour drive again for any service needed. I had a friend recommend Big O Tires and it was close to home. I got my new tires there and the service didn't stop there. I have had two flats and my alignment was all out of wack. Each time I took the vehicle in they fixed my tires, aligned and got everything taken care of. All was covered as part of my tire purchase. Just fantastic! After many hours spent getting quotes and fussing over the daunting expense that getting a new set of tires presents, I decided to go with this shop - and I'm so happy I did! Ironically enough, they had given me the highest quote on tires, HOWEVER, John considerately looked over what I had been quoted by other tire shops, and took the time to actually explain the differences. It's very easy to get taken advantage of in these situations if you're someone like me (who knows virtually nothing about cars, hasn't owned many vehicles, etc.), but I felt so respected and cared for by John and his team. He even ended up honoring a deal they had been advertising, which began after I had received my initial quote. Not only was John incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and kind, but the whole staff are so friendly and welcoming. Got a flat tire and brought my car to BiG O on 17th st. When I picked the car up I immediately noticed a new scratch on the rim. The management at Big O was extremely respectful and had a professional come out and fix it. The rim looks brand new again. THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL NiGHTMARE This was one of the most frustrating experiences all due to the fact that the sales associates cannot give a straight answer to save their lives. How long to get the tires in? "By this afternoon" Great what time should I come in? "Well I'll call you in case they don't" Nobody called... I called...What time should I bring it in? "7" What time will you get it in? "Only one car ahead of you" showed up and I was in the system for a 10:00 appt. How long will it take 1.5-2. "No I told you 2-2.5" all said and done it 4. Now he can reprogram my tire sensors because my Tahoe has a "push button start" He is only familiar with the ones you turn the key in! That was the 2006 model!!!! I'll end up having to go to the dealership. The 5 star reviews must be from relatives. Just be straight up before you take a deposit! These guys are stereotypical crooked mechanics.
