I would always come straight here to get oil change for my car, and have a walk by the Iron Horse trail and go for a quick grocery at Trader Joe. I have been taking all my autos to Danville big o for 20 years and have spent close to 75k with them. 18 months ago, my wife purchased 4 tires for 1600.00. She has driven about 20k miles in the past 18 months so I found it unusual that a 400.00 tire would wear out after only 20k. I checked mfg. warranty and found that they had put her in a factory set with no mileage warranty. My wife had called Cosco at the time to provide a quote and recommendation and Big O stated they would match it. My wife, who is loyal, trusted the salesperson and was happy to get a comparable tire. The salesperson just forgot to tell her they were going to put her in a tire that was 400% less durable and can be purchased for 191.00 per tire. In other words, he matched the Costco price and put her in the cheapest tire he could without telling her. Here is the conversation I had with the store manager Chris. Nicely explained the above and that tires were eligible under the three-year MFG warranty for use. The warranty states that Bridgestone will warrant that the tire will be useful for three years. if not bring back to place of purchase for replacement. Chris the manager told me that the warranty i is between me and Bridgestone and Big O was not responsible. Obviously, this is not true. I then asked how Big O sold my wife a 20k mile tire to match Cosco's 60k tire and sold her the cheapest tire Bridgestone makes (a factory tire those retails for 191.00 and wasn't nearly comparable to the Cosco recommended tire which had a 60-k warranty. He said, " I fired all those guys that were pulling that ......Also, I always have the wives check with their husbands before purchasing a tire. " So, I will be looking for a new mechanic, will purchase all our five car tires from Cosco and I am going to file a small claims suit against Big ) for fraud . If I could give them 10 stars I would. I was helping a friend who was out of town. When I picked up her mail I noticed that her new car had a flat. I texted her and she made arrangements for me to take it in to Big O Tires in Danville. Chris could not have been more helpful and understanding of the situation. Even though it was late in the day, he had one of the guys check the tire to see if it was repairable. It was, and the technician said he would go ahead and repair it while I waited. I was so happy as I would of had to have Ubered back to her house to get my car, then pick up her car the next day, return it to her garage and Ubered back to get my car. I don't need tires yet, but when I do I will be going to this location to purchase them. I have never run into kinder more thoughtful and understanding men at a tire shop. A back tire got slashed and we came here for a replacement. Oops! They said they put in all season tires but since going to another tire place a year later, we learned they actually put in summer tires. We went to the snow in them! They also haphazardly place the BMW tire wheel lock key in the front passenger seat without any explanation. We had no idea what it was (we're new to BMW ownership), and misplaced it somewhere in our house. This caused us to have to go to the BMW dealer to figure out which key replacement we needed so the next tire place could take the tires off! What a hassle! Justin provides excellent customer service. He's knowledgeable and friendly. My observation of the rest of the crew members was the same. I had a few things taken care of to include an alignment. Pablo informed Justin and I that there was some issues that need to be done before a proper alignment could be performed. While driving it on the freeway I felt that the steering wheel was still a little off. I took it back to the shop and the pulled it in immediately. Pablo took the time to explain why it might not be perfect but very willing to try to correct it. So today I called in at 2 pm and asked if they could change my oil and roate my tires before closing at 6 and they said sure no problem. Well they keep my car until 545 and call me and tell me they wont he getting to my car and i could leave it overnight.Im like no i cant leave it overnight. My wife's car needed new tires, so off to the Internet for special deals I went. Found a Holiday Deal from Groupon ($300 for a $400 gift card) for Big O Tires. Basically, $100 off my purchase of 4 new tires and mounting. I made an appointment for the Danville location since it was the only location closest to me that participated in this Groupon deal. On the day of the appointment, Chris, the manager called and told me that they had to order the tires, and it would be installed later than the time of my appointment. Due to a mixup, I was told that the ordered tires were ready and that I could come right in. When I arrived, the tires were not ready. I had to wait another 3 hours before the tires would be delivered. Long story short, I came back when I was told the tires would be ready, and the tires were installed. Chris and the installers made sure my car was ready before closing time. This place was very busy, and they appeared short-staffed. The Big O website should do a better job keeping inventory of tires so that individual stores don't look bad when they have to tell their customers that items weren't in stock and had to scramble to get parts for appointments. We are all busy people and all of us count on our local businesses to be honest and truthful and to give us the best service. That is not what we received here. My wife took my car in to get a leak in the right front tire repaired under a service warranty last Thursday. The customer service representative, Chris, told her she had 5 nails in the tire and that it was too dangerous to work on the tire. She had to get new tires immediately. He stated it was illegal for them to patch some or all of the holes. Additionally, he stated that all four tires had areas that were below the required 2/32 of tread. He stated the existing tires were cheap and recommended we buy the "preferred" Pirelli tires which were offered at a discount. When I went to pick up the car, Chris begged me not to drive on the freeway because the tires were dangerous (because of the nails). I took the car home. I examined the tire at-issue. It had one nail puncturing the tire which I repaired. There was one more small nail that did not puncture the tire. The rest were stones in the existing tread. I think he was trying to scare my wife into throwing money at the issue and buy tires with him. The tires he recommended were not "preferred" either. They were summer tires that we would never buy. If we had listened to that guy, we would have spent over $1,000.00 on an inferior product in an unnecessary way. FYI, I did send a formal complaint to ownership about this last Friday and they have not responded. It has been a week. I have given them a chance. I took the tires, after I personally repaired the one (the service we went in for), to another tire shop. They stated the tires were not at 2/32 but did qualify for a warranty rebate for wearing out too fast. We received a significant discount on tires. The guy at the other shop recommended tires which were #1 recommended by consumer reports and were all weather (we go to Tahoe). Big-O never asked us our needs with driving. Also, my previous tires were not cheap! They were good BF Goodrich tires that happened to wear out 20K early. I am really dismayed at the scare tactics, lack of accountability, failure to provide valuable advice we received here. I'm not going back and recommend that everyone stay away. Two of the no nonsense type of Big O reps, and knowledgeable. I came in to this branch on different occasions. One was for another vehicle for a CV axle replacement, and to be quite frank, their labor rates are reasonable and not inflated. While other shops charged nearly triple of the rate of Big O, this branch stood by their word, got it done, no hiccups. Second visit, alignment of another vehicle. They squeezed me in, I left the key, they called, I picked up the vehicle... aligned. There are no curtains here. You present a problem, they fix. They don't do all that middle stuff where they try to sell you some blinker fluid or upsale you. I am a Big O customer, and had iffy experiences at other branches. I recently had a disappointment experience with Big o tires in Danville I called inquire about the price of replacing one of my tires, but instead of providing me with that information I needed. I was told that I had to replace all my tires because it was supposedly damaging to my transmission. That seemed questionable to me since the other tires were still in good condition. To make matters worse when I asked for the name of the person I spoke with they abruptly hung up on me. When I tried to call back I was met with unhelpful responses and the staff refused to disclose the name of the person I had spoken to before eventually hanging up on me again. It is frustrating to be misled into a necessary expenses and to encounter uncooperative staff members who refused to provide basic information. Let me tell you, I had an amazing experience with this location again today. When I showed up the parking lot was full of cars. I went in to get a quote for my struts and shocks. The staff were running around effectively and efficiently. But super slammed. I knew there was no way my car was getting to done.. to many cars there. Guess thats what happens with awesome customer service. You could see they tried to make sure every customer was acknowledged. I appreciated that the staff wore masks and only had them off when the customer couldnt understand them. But they did ask me to stand 6ft from them while talking. We have been using this Big O for many years now and they always deliver service and quality work for a reasonable price. Lat week my 2000 BMW M Roadster's radiator blew out and began leaking. I live less than a mile away and brought it in on a Saturday morning. They got right to work on it and I was able to pick it up less than 5 hours later completely repaired. I took my car here for an oil change. I had one of their groupons and had no issues using it. Yes, there's tax added (~$10); but this is standard with groupons + oil changes. Why 3 stars vs 5.. The time it took. I made an appointment prior to arriving. I dropped the car off and decided to wait. They didn't bring my car back for 75 minutes. Then once it was on the rack, it took about 45 more mins. Overall, ~2 hours to get the oil change. I like places that will take my car back when I arrive at the appointment time; 75 minutes past my appointment time just shouldn't happen. read more

I had been here a few times for tire repair for my business in the past so I thought I could depend on them. Always dealt with Angelo at Big O in Danville, and he was always helpful. My son had his tire rotated at another shop because that is where he purchased his tires. They had new high school kids working there for the summer who were not trained well and ended up torquing one of the bolts too tight on his left rear wheel and broke off the bolt. That shop doesn't fix that kind of problem so they referred us to another in San Ramon to fix it. We called the next day which was Thursday and they were too busy and could not get to it until next week. We couldn't wait until next week so I then called Big O in Danville. They said they were able to fix it today so we took it there. While they were fixing the bolt they found another bolt that was over torqued and was cracked so they fixed that too. While fixing the bolts they mentioned that the rear brakes were worn down on the Jeep and said they needed new pads. Since it was in the shop already I said to go ahead and fix that too even though they were a little expensive on the price. Everything seemed fine until the next day when my son was driving to work. First he heard a loud banging noise from the rear of his car on the freeway and then his left rear tire went flat and the jeep swerved to the left almost hitting a car, and then he tried to correct and almost hit another car on his right. He tried to brake and pull over but his brake pedal went to the floor. While coasting down an off ramp a car was in front of him at the light and he could not stop because he had no brakes. Good thing the light turned green and he was able to coast to a stop around the corner when the car in front moved forward, otherwise he would have rear ended him. After parking he found that his left rear tire was completely flat and then he saw part of his left rear brake caliper dangling down from underneath. After looking under the Jeep he found that the brake caliper came loose and half of it was gone probably still on the freeway somewhere and the inside valve to his tire was ripped off which is why his tire went flat so quickly. He had to have his Jeep towed to a local tire shop to be fixed. They told him he is lucky he wasn't killed or cause a major accident. They told him his caliper wasn't put on properly and came loose causing it to hit the inside valve stem to his tire and cause it to go flat, also the reason he had no brakes is because the fluid all squirted out causing him not to have front or rear brakes. After having everything fixed at another shop went back and got a refund for the terrible work Big O Danville did on his brakes. I had a heated discussion with Angelo and told him it was unacceptable to have someone not fix the brakes properly. Angelo apologized and i told him he is lucky that no one was injured or killed. I asked him if this was a new person working on the brakes that day and he said it was his regular guy that does all the brake work. After hearing this I would never go back to this shop to have anything fixed, especially brakes. read more

I've been to this establishment about 2 times now. I know due to inflation, the cost of getting your oil changed has increased a bunch. I used to get my oil change for around $20. Those were the good days. Fast forward to 2021, it cost at least $50 for an oil change. So when I saw the $49 Groupon offered, I grabbed it. I'm always making appointments for whatever because I believe in "going in" prepared. So I made an appointment in the afternoon. Long story short, I ended up waiting for 3 hours to get a damn oil change. But the manager, Don or Dawn was nice enough to waive some fees for me. My bill was $50 Groupon plus the disposal fee for the engine oil and taxes. Don actually gave me a pro tip and advised that next time, I should purchase the $50 gift certificate on Groupon because it'll cover up to $100 worth of work or something or rather. I thought it was odd that their Groupon deals weren't cut and dry like what I'm used to... But whatever, I guess .. I ended up taking my wife's car to get an oil change a few months after my first experience. This time, I was charged an extra $28 for a filter. Wait a darn minute, the Groupon included the filter, no? Yes it did. Here's the catch, it will only cover a certain type of filter ONLY AND IF they have it in stock (that was according to a different manager whose name escaped me but he is a bald gentleman with a stocky built). It turned out on the day I went (with an appointment in hand) they didn't have that particular filter in stock so I had to pay extra for a model of filter which wasn't covered under the Groupon... Ok bro, I guess, whatever you say. Oh, on top of that, I took Don's advise and purchased the $50 gift certificate on Groupon. However, due to the extra $28 I had to pay on the filter, I had an extra $25 or something or rather (don't remember the exact amount) leftover BUT THEY DO NOT ISSUE ANY CHANGE. Once you bought the $50 Groupon, that's it. You are locked in. I didn't want to nickle and dime with the guy so I ordered an alignment just so I wouldn't waste the amount leftover which the total cost was about $130 or something (don't recall the exact amount). I was just glad to get out of there with something to show for. Oh, that trip took over 2 hours to complete. After 2 tries, I've decided to call it quits... I'm going to take my chances and try to find another shop that will be up front and transparent about their prices where I could feel it's cut and dry. I don't really want to take out my spread sheet to just find out what my effective cost is every time I need an oil change. I know I certainly don't want to read and reread the fine print every time I'm in the market for an oil change. Shoot, I should just change my oil like the good'Ol days, by myself. Anyhow, the bottom line is if you don't mind paying the retail price for an oil change or don't mind paying extra "hidden" cost and you live in town, this might be a decent place to get your oil change. However, if you are looking for a deal and don't want to commit their pricing structure to memories, then look else where. read more

First and last time I'm going to Big O Tires. Bought a full synthetic deal on Groupon ($45), but there's a hidden $20 tax and filter fee you have to pay. So in reality, I paid $65 total so the "deal" is essentially $10 off an oil change. Aside from that, I was quoted 1.5hrs to get the oil change done and when I showed up, they told me it would take closer to 3hrs!! Because of the updated wait time, I had to pay for an Uber home and then came back 3hrs later. Even after 3hrs, it still took an additional 35min from when I got to the shop to when I my car was ready. Eddie was very helpful with my Jeep Wrangler. Looking to replace at first the spare. Turns out it was a smaller size besides being worn out. Great talking with a tire expert who knows noise level and what other customers have reported about tire life. He also knew my concern about not being able to get matching tires if I buy the others at a latter date. By choosing a fairly new designed tire I have a good chance of getting a very similar tire when I want to replace the four on the Jeep. Showed up 15min prior to opening for an oil change, after unsuccessfully trying to get in a previous afternoon. Very friendly service, and they took care of my car quickly, which I appreciated since I was waiting outside on a chilly morning. That said, on the way there, my tire pressure light had come on, and was told they'd check it out.
