The place was absolutely mobbed with people and I was not quite sure how we were going to have time to eat prior to bowling. Our waitress (and it kills me that I can't remember her name) was fantastic. She recognized the urgency of our situation and worked at lightning speed to get us our meal and then followed up with us numerous times as we moved to the bowling event. She was absolutely perfect! The food was excellent. Bowling was a blast..... candle pin bowling is so much more difficult than it looks, though! About half way through our game, our lane experienced a fatal mechanical problem. This bowling alley is an historic gem and the machinery that runs the lanes is definitely "old school". Ownership was very accommodating and gave us a gift certificate to come back and bowl again another time. The staff is fast and efficient and know exactly when to open the second window if it isn't already open. This is easy to find right off the main road. There is plenty of parking angled around the building. I love the picnic tables behind the stand. It's great if you don't want to sit in your car and eat your treat. It is also great if you biked or walked to the location, there is a place for you to sit. The area is pretty well manicured and pretty clean. There isn't a lot of shade in the area, so something to consider during the warm summer months. Great place to stop for a quick tasty treat while in Topsham. We thought it wouldn't be open this year, we got the good news. Perhaps they listened to their customers and changed things up. Be careful about where you park though, the awnings are literally falling down off the building. Would be better if they invested a dollar or two into the building. Service is a little shady and you cannot eat inside the building anymore. I have been going there for 60 years and it's just so sad to see what the place has become. Food is good this year though. Hope they keep it up. I believe the place is for sale.

We just placed a large order, big enough that it took a while and I could feel the cars behind me getting impatient. After paying we received several bags of food (kids meals, drinks, fries, several burgers plus...), yet I was still suspicious as to whether or not we had gotten the entire order, something I typically check. ut it was fairly large and that would have taken a while as well, so I said to the clerk, "...so did we get it all? Just checking because it's a long drive back if not". His reply: "You got it all sir. Thanks and have a great night". So off we drove home to enjoy a take-out dinner from Wendy's. Wouldn't you know when we got home, the two large burgers were missing!! Grrrr, a couple of unhappy guys went without while the women and kids did get theirs. Lesson learned, ALWAYS check the food against the receipt. So I called, asked for the manager and without anger explained the scenario that had played out only 30 minutes or so earlier. After listening he offered to send a coupon for two burgers. That's coupons for the two burgers that I payed-for and didn't get. As in most cases, fair exchange is no bargain, and this neither a bargain nor recompense for the inconvenience afforded me and my family. Certainly not even close to the aggravation of driving 14 miles round-trip. So I declined and said I would be in in-person to discuss next trip to the TFM rather than having them mail the coupons and perhaps get a more fair settlement. Yea, it's a small battle and hardly worth it, but I'll challenge the offer. I'm not asking for the world, but not settling for a poor compromise, nor compromising on and offer for a poor settlement. Speaking of poor, the lack of management skill adds insult to the injury of the poor and inept service here at Wendy's Topsham.

The dining room and bathrooms are rather clean, and there is even a light up table and screens with video games for the kids. The staff sometimes surprises me by going above and beyond, doing things like holding onto my wallet that I dropped inside and handing it back on my next visit when they recognized me, and bringing a hot order of fries to my table because they thought the ones they gave me were old. I can't remember the last time I left here irritated.
