My boyfriend and I took a long trek to grab some sandwiches a couple of Saturday's ago. About 2 1/2 miles away from the sandwich shop, I got a flat tire. Granted my bike tires were OGs and cracked, we were 15 miles away from home and needed some help. Luckily, we saw a bike shop on Google just up the block from us. We walked our bikes over and the family at Big Wheel Bicycles saved our day. Not only did I bike out in less than an hour from walk-in with 2 news white wash wheels, my boyfriend also walked away with a nice cushioned bike seat plus they were affordable and they were SUPER nice. Although they maybe not around the corner from me, I know if I ever need a bike repair, I'm driving back. Highly recommend their service. Thanks again!! The two people who I spoke with were very rude and defensive. I brought 2 bikes and told them that something was wrong about my tires. They immediately told me whats wrong without even checking the bikes itself. I politely asked them if they can check it because I want them to be sure and for my peace of mind. One of the guys started getting defensive and gave me a reason that he is sure because he had been fixing and selling bikes for years. He could've been right but I feel that he should've still checked it since I asked him to and the bike was already in front of him. It would have only taken him a minute or two to inspect the 2 bikes. It seems like he was just lazy. I decided to take it to a different bike shop. The guy looked at my bikes and was really polite. It turns out that the clowns at Big Wheel Bicycles were only partially right. I ended up saving money because he did not have to repair another tire. read more

Wow, met Pete.... he was the BEST!!! I thought I needed new handle bars and pedals because I saw some rust specks and he showed me how to clean them off. I'm not writing this just to have a bad review, it's just what happened. I dropped my bike off to have the front wheel trued and a new tire put on the back. they told me it would be ready the next day by 5:00. I get there at 4:30 to be told "Sorry it's not ready" because they had to order some spokes, It would be ready the next day. Should I have called? No. They should have called me. So I show up the next day (I called first and they said it was ready.) When I get there, it's not ready because they forgot to do the back tire, but they're happy to do it right now. So okay I don't mind waiting. After about 15 minutes my back tire is "done." I shouldn't have assumed but I thought they would match the tire in the front or the one they took off. Instead they put on a taller and cheaper tire. The guy actually tells me, "It's taller so it has more tread." I didn't mind the bad service but to flat out lie to me about tire tread. I don't know bike tires but I know car tires. That's some straight-up BS. Come on. Needless to say, I won't be going back. Update 8/6/2020, was looking at the tread on my "new" tire. It's almost bald already. read more

Bike selection is weak. Some bikes looked like someone pulled it from the trash, patched it up and put a for sale sign on it. Components are over priced and the lights in the store are always off. Make sure you bring a flashlight. What did it for me is when the owner told me too leave my bike outside the store before I come in. read more

Spoke to a very kind gentlemen in the phone. Explained that I needed a 20inch bike for a girl with training wheels. He said he has ONE bike. I told him I could buy training wheels and asked if they could put them on. He said yes! So I go search for training wheels. Can't find any and have to order some. I call back and he says okay. Bike should be here. I see the training wheels won't be there for 3 days so I call back to put a deposit on the bike(3rd call) but spoke to a different guy. I wanted to make sure the bike would be there because if there's only one, I'm sure it will be grabbed up fast. He says NO NEED. We will hold it for you but doesn't take my name so I'm just like okay, maybe the first guy I spoke with let him know. I get there Monday, as o said and I explain to the guy what happened and show him my training wheels in hand. He is overtalking me and is surprisingly rude as if I'm not about to spend money. He then walks me to a row of beet used and dirty looking bikes. Then points to another bike I asked about. No help. I'm so confused and honestly hurt because he was very kind to the people who walked in right after the. He looked like he didn't want to be bothered from the moment I walked in. Yes I am African American and he was not. I would HATE to think it was motivated by that but the guy he dealt with before me he was kind to as well. Very saddened. read more

We had decided to dust off the bikes and take them in for some much needed repair, they had been in the yard for a few years and seriously needed some TLC. I walked in at about 1:00 in the afternoon, with 2 bikes that were in desperate need of tires, tubes, tune ups, and major cleaning. the guy told me what they needed and the cost for labor, he was very up front about the costs, which I liked. The estimate was a little more than I expected but still less than the cost of 2 new bikes I figured for what they needed and since both bikes were pretty old, we had an old Schwinn and a Niskiki. I was not hopeful that they had everything our bikes needed in stock, but to my surprise, they were able to have the bikes ready same day. They were ready by 5:30 that evening, now thats service. When we picked up the bikes, the guy, sorry I didnt get his name, took the time to explain what they had done to our bikes. I really like when the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Pete is an absolute life saver!! My tire on my jogging stroller popped while I was at Disneyland leaving me stranded. I called Pete and he said he could fix it no problem, he had the tube in stock. I live about 5 minutes from this place and I love it! It's family owned and the son, Peter is the coolest guy ever. He helped me customize my fixed gear bike that I bought off craigslist. I didn't know much about repairing bikes at the time but he showed me what tools I needed and how to adjust things. I moved to San Francisco recently but still call him to ask his advice on bike issues. I hope I can bring my new project down to his shop when I come home for the holidays so he can help me out. This review is long overdue. I have a very nicely restored 20 inch 1967 Schwinn Stingray and I blew out the valve stem on a couple of tubes on the rear tire. I guess I didn't take in to consideration that I'm not as slim as as I used to be - but ultimately they recommended heavy duty tubes. I only need one but I gladly bought and replaced both tubes. It's been over a year since replacing tubes and I haven't had a problem since. Regarding some of the negative reviews: I am also a business owner, so just take in to account that there are a lot of idiots out there and when you're open to the general public you have no choice but to deal with them. read more

Worst customer service ever! We live in San Diego and our son got a bike as a gift from this store. The bike did not work for our son and the guy was totally rude and unwilling to work with us since it had been over 30 days since the purchase. We were not able to come back sooner but were shocked by his attitude towards us and he did not wear his mask properly when talking to us.
