My wife and I had breakfast there last Sunday Morning. It was about 8:30 and starting to get busy but they were able to get us seated right away and we had our coffee and tea first thing. Service was prompt and courteous with plenty of refills on the coffee. I had an egg scramble with sausage, cheese, spinach and mushrooms, it was very tasty. Just take note that the cinnamon pancakes might be a little too sweet if you're not too much of a sweet tooth, but the portions are crazy and the savory flavors from the omelette/hashbrowns will leave you happy. Came here for brunch along with a couple other friends (with all of our kids). There is usually a wait here. We got the table in about 15 mins. The staff here is very friendly and helped us with boosters and high chairs for the kids. The service is fast. Our food was on the table pretty quick. Kids liked the grilled cheese, burger and pan cakes. Us adults ordered the Chicken and waffle, Eggs Benedict, Tostadas and some Mimosas. Average food, average service, above average prices for a breakfast joint. 2.5 stars, really. Came here with extended family for a weekend lunch. I've only been to a Bill's once before, quite a while back, and I recall that it wasn't a particularly memorable experience. The decision to come here was based on the food preferences of the very young members of our group. The menu is about what you'd expect from a place like this. Pancakes, omelets, scrambles, biscuits and gravy, steak and eggs, and the ever-mysterious chicken-fried steak. Plenty of things to satisfy anyone's cravings. We were seated fairly quickly, and service was attentive at first. Water was brought to our table and our drinks order was taken. A few minutes later the server returned to take our entree order. Though we all originally expected to order some breakfast items, a couple of us noticed some lunch specials and decided to give them a try. I didn't try a few items that came to our table - bread pudding French toast, regular French toast, and one of the Eggs Benedict creations. But I did have an opportunity to try a few things. Chocolate chip pancakes - big and fluffy but with a slightly sparse scattering of chips. Still good nonetheless Fish and chips - the fish pieces were small but the breading was quite nice and crisp. The fish itself was moist and clean tasting. The fries were of thin shoestring variety which isn't the "right" type of chip in a fish and chips dish. Philly cheesesteak - this was my main dish, and it was disappointing. This was advertised as having thin slices of beef - the way that a proper cheesesteak should be. But it wasn't like that at all, but rather thicker chunks of meat that kept falling out of the bun. The amount of onions and pepper was meager, and I didn't sense too much cheese either. Biscuits and gravy - this dish is the benchmark by which I rate places like this. I hope to have nice fluffy biscuits drenched in a creamy sausage gravy. The biscuits hit all the right notes. I would even venture to say that they were the best biscuits I've had in a long while. But the gravy was just not to any of our liking at all. It was thick and pasty, and had no sausage flavor at all. In fact, it tasted cheesy. Maybe that's where the cheese for my cheesesteak ended up. We didn't bother to eat even half of this dish, even though it was shared among four people. After the food was delivered to our table, the attentiveness of the servers pretty much disappeared completely. Our water glasses didn't get refilled any we had to flag someone down. The prices of the entrees here are kind of high for standard breakfast fare, with most items approaching $20 or more. And then at the end, on the bill they add a 3.5% "ingredients" fee. Excuse me? We got charged extra for the ingredients for our meal? It fundamentally misrepresents that actual price of their entrees, and I think they should just raise their menu prices if that's what they expect their patrons to pay. read more
