If you want a restaurant that has classic Americana food, with a decor that is positively early 20th century comfort circa 1900's, with the decor from a great grandmother's house in the Midwest, with vintage jazz playing in the background, which is the perfect background music to dine with in this place, then you must rush over here for dinner or lunch! I loved it the last time I was here, and several years later it's still just as wonderful. Split pea soup was wonderful and flavorful! Our very first visit was with a friend, he described the atmosphere as, "Grandma's attic." He wasn't lying, when I saw it I said, "a little of Cracker Barrel." Now, the food. Holy cow! So, the menu is insane, so many choices, but so many good flavors from hot dogs to waffles to prime rib, salads. Then there's desserts, wow. Oh, did I mention they have a beautiful bar and cocktails! Finally made time to check out this long standing Palm Springs steak house. We ordered a prime rib (quite large) and a New York steak. Both were quality cuts, very large and come with several sides. There was an extra charge for baked potato toppings other than cheese. We liked that this place does not charge per side dish, two come with each dinner order. Service was friendly but very slow. The establishment is very large with ample seating and free parking. Bathrooms are ADA accessible but the women's restroom was quite messy and every stall was out of toilet paper. The food and prices were good enough that we will go back, hopefully it was just an off day and service/ restroom cleanliness will be better next time. read more

Billy Reed is beautiful, with its warm wood, stunning stained glass lighting, and a classic old-world charm that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the experience. The food was clearly prepared with care, but does not exactly wow as much as the environment. What truly made the meal though, was Jackie. She was welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. Her recommendations were spot on, and she made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. The biscuits and gravy were v flavorful, and you know I'm a biscuit and gravy snob. Quite impressed. The Denver omelette was decent; the peppers remained noticeably crunchy, which was nice. Of the California, the husband said the avocado serving was a little stingy, and the chilis lacked heat, but all in all pretty decent. I'd like to come back for dinner. Well we did walk in 15 minutes before closing and they still sat us down. I saw some of the faces on the staff not so pleased with that but they reassured us that we just had to order by closing time in order to get the food. So of course we were rushed but also thankful they let us stay because we were so hungry. We ordered chicken parm and chicken piccata meals. Both were around $34 each. I got a Caesar salad with mine. There was only one vegetable to choose zucchini and I also got the mashed potatoes. The Cesar dressing tasted fishy and I couldn't finish it. When the food came out very fast, it was good. People kept walking by us maybe hinting to hurry up as we were the last people in there. We packed up the rest of our meal because it just felt uncomfortable and like they all wanted to leave. For paying close to $80 for two meals and two sodas, it felt like we didn't get to enjoy it. The ambiance was pretty cool. It had a haunted mansion vibe or old money with a dark academia touch. You could tell it was an older place but I liked the vibe. I think it's worth a try at least once being it is a staple in Palm Springs. Just don't go when they are closing. The mashed potatoes and gravy were great, the zucchini was great and the chicken was good but I've have better chicken piccata and the toast was kinda stale but maybe cause it was the end of the night. My daughter couldn't eat her leftovers because the breading on the chicken got all soggy. But we were grateful they let us stay, the ambiance was great and food pretty good (little over priced). This place could turn into a place you go for the experience. The ambience is so unique I think they could capitalize on it as almost a themed restaurant where staff and guests dress the occasion. This place felt like I took a Time Machine into the past where the Victorian times meet the old Wild West. Whatever year the decor represented didn't matter cause I was just so amazed and enjoyed exploring. This place is huge and has so much going I really enjoyed my time from beginning to end. The service was great the employees were friendly and attentive. The menu had a great selection of food to choose from and the portions were huge. The clam chowder was delicious. I ordered the pot roast and my friends ordered the pork cutlet and chicken with mushrooms dish with a sweet potato. The food did not disappoint, it was seasoned well and flavorful! 'Ello Chaps, We first discovered Billy Reed's a few years ago through the reviews, and somehow managed to stumble into what feels like a proper Palm Springs institution. On our most recent visit, we ended up here three evenings in a row. When you're on holiday and willingly return to the same restaurant three nights running, that's usually a rather good sign. Billy Reed's serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day (with a few exceptions), which makes it wonderfully easy whether you're after pancakes in the evening or meatloaf after a day exploring the desert. The atmosphere is one of the restaurant's greatest strengths. It has a warm, rustic charm that feels as though someone shipped pieces of an old English pub across the Atlantic sometime in the 1970s and blended them with classic California comfort. It's quirky, welcoming, and full of character. Walking through the doors feels like stepping back in time--but in the very best way. Everything is clean, well-kept, and remarkably comfortable. The menu is absolutely enormous. Even the fussiest eater should find something appealing, and there are plenty of choices for children and vegetarians as well. The food is consistently excellent. The pot roast and meatloaf remain standout dishes, and it's obvious much of the food is prepared from scratch. Portions are genuinely generous, so you certainly won't leave hungry. The chicken pot pie is also worth ordering, although I'd still say the pastry could use a bit more love. Service was excellent throughout all three visits. Friendly, attentive, and the sort of hospitality that makes you feel like a regular, even if you're just passing through town. So why four stars instead of five? Simply put: the prices. There's no question the portions are large and the food is very good, but paying more than $30 for something like meatloaf feels a touch ambitious. You absolutely receive a hearty meal, but the value doesn't quite keep pace with the price tag. That said, Billy Reed's remains one of our favourite restaurants in Palm Springs. The atmosphere alone is worth experiencing, the food is consistently satisfying, and the service is first-rate. My first time here was for a luncheon event. The hostess lives in the area and selected this restaurant. The parking lot was just starting to get busy when I arrived around 10am. I noticed a sign that said that you will be seated once your entire party has arrived. We didn't wait too long before our group of 19 arrived and were seated. The decor has a vintage feel with beautiful chandeliers/lighting and dark, but warm color wood throughout the restaurant. Even the ceiling is detailed. My 2nd visit was with my husband. He decided to eat here after I had brought home a coconut crème pie for him from my first visit. During my first visit I enjoyed a wonderful chicken pot pie. Even though it was a warm day outside, seeing it on the menu caught my stomachs attention. It was a good size, I wasn't able to finish it. The crust was baked to perfection. The filling was perfect just the right balance of meat to veggies, with the perfect creaminess. During my second visit I enjoyed one of the breakfast favorites on the menu which it is mentioned only served until 3pm. I had ordered the Belgium Waffle with Gold 'N' Spice Chicken Tenders. I added a side order of scrambled eggs to my order. Everything was fabulous! I devoured everything. Sadly we didn't have room for dessert! The servers are friendly and fast, and always making sure our drinks were replenished. Unfortunately, we live quite far from the restaurant. Service great. Food is meh, which I can be stickler because the Billy's Philly that I got was okay, it's just wasn't anything special about it. Meat was not the most high quality as I am usually not such a big stickler, but I can tell that it was cheap cut of meat. I came here two years ago and it was the same thing. I know the restaurant is going towards more the old timer taste buds which there is nothing wrong with that. When we arrived we all were in amazement. Decorations are so nostalgic taking us back centuries. Menu.... Everything kids wanted, adults, no arguing at all on food choices. It's tough to write this review because I love Billy Reed's. This has been a childhood place for me and I love the interior how it is old timey it is and you feel like you were at your grandma's house lol. I love the entrance as well with the Koi fish pond as you can see all the different fish and turtles they have in there. It is a great touch. Unfortunately maybe we ordered the wrong thing, but we were disappointed with our food. The eggs and bacon were extremely greasy as you can tell they were covered in butter to the point they were wet. I would like to go back here to try it again, but unfortunately, maybe their menu is a little bit outdated now I think it is a place you just have to try coming to Palm Springs, but unfortunately was not wowed by the food. What an amazingly unexpected gem! I know Palm Springs is pretty known for it's good scene, but you don't expect a koi pond and a museum feel to a whimsical little mom & pop that looks small from the outside and massive and beautiful on the inside. The bread could be a little better/more flavorful or crunchy on the French dip, but the au jus was on point! I also enjoyed their cottage cheese, which felt fluffy and cold, the way it should be. We always feel like going to Billy Reed's when we are in Palm Springs...4th of July was a big celebration for everyone in the country and it was a good time to visit the restaurant with its good foods and great service. Breakfast is what we want and Billy Reed's has plenty of options and serves it all day. The lovely missus starts up with a glass of cranberry juice and somehow it spilled on the table. The staff at hand was quickly summoned and wiped it all clean. She orders a three egg omelet with ham which also comes with her choice of Sourdough Toast. I was going for a southern stylish breakfast of two eggs with Corned Beef hash and that comfort biscuit and (sausage) white gravy. Both meals also came with a heaping amount of hash browns. My cup of coffee must have been refilled at least three times and if I didn't put my spoon over the top, it would have gotten more. The breakfast was super good and we had enough to ask for boxes. We also wanted to bring some sweets back for later and chose Apple Pie. I'll fast forward and tell you that was a delicious old style apple with raisin and cinnamon and probably a secret recipe. Billy Reed's has a way to impress you with its countryside decorations and heavy wood panels and beautiful rooms and bar. We like sitting at the booths where we can see how busy it can be. Billy Reeds is a quirky quaint tribute to the Fern bars and Baroque palace of the 70s and 80s. There's lots of stained glass carpet, wood floors, and big booths to sit in and enjoy your meal. The same elegance and abundance are featured on the menu and we went for dinner. The other night were shown right in by a very friendly waiter. I ordered my traditional Sauvignon Blanc and my husband got a ginger ale. Then we decided to get the country fried steak for him and the curried chicken salad for me. I also got a cornbread loaf and he opted for a date nut loaf. My husband also got navy bean soup before his meal and it tasted absolutely homemade. He enjoyed the. Steak and creamy potatoes with gravy I found that the curry chicken salad was light and yet filling. When the meal was over, we still had broom for dessert and the seasonal attraction of pumpkin pie couldn't be resisted. Billy Reed's is known for its pies, and this was no exception the pumpkin was luscious and soft and poop in the mood for Thanksgiving dinner. From the outside you wouldn't think much of this place, but as you drive in it captures your attention with it's captivating decorations, from an outdoor fish pond, to classic machines and fun decorations on the inside. I didn't eat here and instead opted to order to-go as I had some work to catch up. I called in the order and was bummed they couldn't cook the rib eye medium rare, so I opted for the Prime Rib. For $44, you can't beat it. You get the full fixings, soup, corn bread, choice of potato and a huge piece of meat that was tender (even a plastic knife was able to cut through it. The flavor is more on the mild side and wish the au jus had more seasoning, but the horseradish was perfect. The added lemon meringue pie had the right amount of zing to it with the bits of lemon skin added a pleasant texture. Staff here was great, and they packed the food with care (the lemon pie, they didn't close the lid and smash the pie, but wrapped it with the lid semi-open. I can't believe this was the first time I've been here for a meal. Mind you, Palm Springs is hop skip away for me. I've known of the place and heard so many good things about it. There's a bar right behind the hostess counter. Pretty big and I believe it's a full bar. The place is very on point with their antique. Vintage furniture, beautiful chandeliers light fixtures and artwork. French meets medieval in a sense. Crowds a little to the mature side. We stopped in for breakfast which menu wise was a good selection of meals. Denise took care of us and she was a doll. Very friendly and accommodating. Food wise, I started off with a banana nut bread which was a mini loaf. That came out warm and served with butter. Quite nice and tasty. Our meal, a build your own omelette which came with a sides. That was had with fruits. And the shrimp omelette with hollandaise sauce. That was excellent and pretty nice portion of shrimp. Had that with the house potatoes mixed with bell peppers and onions. Also came with a side of toast. Salsa was part of the meal which two different kind was brought out. Spicy version was spicy in our opinion but good. Food was excellent and big portions. Also, the whole menu looked amazing for both lunch and dinner. Overall, service was great, food was excellent, ambiance was perfect. After reading the reviews, we decided to stop here for lunch when we arrived in Palm Springs for a 3-day visit. First off, this place is HUGE! There's so much unused space that I'm sure they could fit three restaurants inside. The first thing you notice as you walk in is the large koi pond full of fish and turtles. We were mesmerized. The next thing you figure out is this is definitely an old school spot. All the servers and hosts are older women who have probably worked there for years. Already, it was my kind of place. My sister ordered corned beef hash and eggs, and the size was massive. It was so much food that she took it to go and we shared it for breakfast the next day. I ordered the tuna melt. I'm pretty picky about my melts, but the server spoke highly about it, so I was convinced. It was albacore white meat tuna with very little added besides the mayo, and it was perfectly grilled on rye bread, their recommendation. It came with several side options, but I went for the cole slaw. Suffice it to say it was delicious. We liked the place so much, we decided since it was on our way out of town, we'd stop in again for breakfast. Again, we were not disappointed. I had the short stack of pancakes which were perfectly done and fluffy. Sister had the pecan waffle, which came with dollops of whipped cream and loads of pecans. Another total hit for both of us. I highly recommend if you appreciate old school diners, you stop in and enjoy a meal here. We loved it and will be back next time we are in town. read more

I wanted the French dip without the garlic butter French roll but the waitress told me that they didn't have any plain ones, so I had to have it on white bread, which was a mistake. It was horrible.
