The best chicken parmesan sandwich in Portland is here. It's simply perfection. Is it the chicken which is tender and crispy? Or the sauce which is thick and tasty? The bun which isn't too soft or hard. The answer is yes. I also love the original salads as well and of course, their brick chicken and wood fired pizzas are equally delicious. I wish they were open on the weekend, but get that it's more of a blue collar place for the folks working in the area. It's always clean and bright and the fireplace is a nice touch. read more

Food came quickly However when we ordered the person taking the order kept messing up and they brought the wrong salad, Ceaser not a house salad. Great first visit! I arrived around 2:30 pm and it was mostly empty. I ordered the Green Pie (small) and the Smushed Garlic Potatoes side. They both came out promptly, although the potatoes weren't as hot as I liked. The pizza came out piping hot though. I really enjoyed the Green Pie - the pizza crust was crisp on the bottom and soft and chewy on top. Medium thickness crust. Great option for vegetarians, if you like cheese and pesto. The smushed potatoes also had great flavor and the truffle oil wasn't overpowering, which was nice. Great spot to go to that was close to my hotel and walkable. There weren't a lot of other options around that wasn't fast food so I was thankful for this place. read more

A friend and I popped in for lunch and decided on their 4 cheese pizza. Our first bite of Bistro23's 4 cheese pizza was memorable. How they get the crust so thin and crispy is beyond me. I love Bistro 23! Their personal size pizzas are just the right size (and price) and the crust is really tasty. I usually leave most of my crust at other pizza restaurants but not here. But my favorite dish is probably the pork chop that is grilled and has an amazing balsamic sauce on it that makes it SO tasty. The only thing is the price changes daily, depending on the size of the pork chop. From $20-30 but so worth it. The menu isn't huge but what they do offer is very good. Good burgers, good salads, good sandwiches. It's one of our go-to spots for dinner and/or lunch. The only bummer is they are only open M-F so on weekends you are out of luck! read more

Went here with some co-workers to grab some dinner recently. Got the pepperoni pizza, the pig in the woods pizza, and a Caesar salad along with some beers. Best part about this place is the friendly service and good atmosphere. The food and drinks are only okay. I've had better pizza at many other establishments as it lacked anything special and the flavor was a bit blah and the Caesar salad was nothing special either. We needed a place to stop by before heading to the airport and found this little gem! Interestingly enough, it was one of the only places that was open and had a decent looking menu. It's an order and then sit type of establishment which isn't my ideal but I was hungry and their menu was filled with glorious options so leggo. We ordered the goat cheese dates, crostini, grilled cheese with tomato bisque, truffled garlic potatoes, seared polenta, ham and avocado sandwich and bistro burger. To be fair, there were four of us. The dates were magical. A perfect goat cheese to date ratio with candied bacon. Nomz. The balsamic reduction was also spot on. The crostini was flavorful in all the ways. The heirloom tomatoes, parmesan, grilled sourdough were all fresh and paired well but they didn't stay on the bread! I was thinking maybe slap on some ricotta to make those tomatoes stick! The truffled garlic potatoes were so truffly. Delish. The seared polenta was also delicious. The sear was perfect. The ham and avocado sandwich was reported to be delicious. The bistro burger was good too! I think more aioli would've made it better! The shining star, which we all agreed on, was the grilled cheese with tomato bisque. Wowwwieeeeeeee. "The best thing I've put in my mouth in a long time." -feedback from one bff. The bread is heavenly. Perfectly crisp and dense in all the ways it should be. Cheesy with a good ratio to bread. And that bisque. Nomz. Creamy yet still with enough tang. Thick enough to cling to the sandwich after dunking but still acceptable on a regular spoon. We also had a table cookie. It was also delish. Hats off to this popular neighborhood spot. The house music is perfect - chill, engaging, and that the perfect volume. We ordered the grilled brussels sprouts with breadcrumbs, the crispy polenta, which was absolutely melt in your mouth, perfect, and the green pizza as an appetizer. The green pizza was off the hook! The server explained that they actually use extra gluten in the crust to give it that shoe, and it was , perfect. I had the brick chicken with grilled mashed potatoes and a grilled lemon, and it was delicious. My husband had the cheeseburger, and he ate every bite. So I am guessing it was pretty good! This place nailed it well I didn't have any, the pasta they served too many of the tables around me looked awesome and the people clearly enjoyed it. My Mom and I came here for lunch after landing in Portland. My Mom found and chose this place for lunch. We just went in, took our order and found a seat. We ordered their Pork Meatball Bahn Mi to share and just water to drink. The only complaint I have is that inside it was just really cold. It is July, but it was overcast outside and pretty cool. It's mostly because I'm Californian and I hate the cold. It was freezing in here. We got our food in good time and asked for an extra plate. The sandwich was hot, spicy and juicy. It was served with a side of potato chips and a pickle. It was a good sandwich, it warmed me up and filled me up for our long drive to Bend. Their food is pretty good here. I was visiting Portland on a day trip for work and found this spot close by. The ratings don't lie... This place was delicious. So good that it compelled me to write this, my first restaurant review. I was torn between the pork chop and brick chicken but ended up going with the brick chicken. This was the most delicious chicken dish I've had to date. So juicy and flavorful, way more than youd expect reading it on the menu. The quality of food and range of items made me feel that it was a sit down/server type of establishment but it was actually a walk up to the counter, order, and take a seat with your number. Much faster than I thought it was going to take considering I had to get back to the airport. They have a decent amount of parking in front of the restaurant. I didnt have any trouble but it wasn't full. I cant wait to go back and try other menu items! read more

My friend and I had the Bolognese Pasta for lunch. Very tasty! However, the portion wasn't very large and with it tasting so good, I wish I had a little more on my plate. We ordered two chocolate chip and sea salt cookies for dessert. They hit the spot so I actually purchased a couple more on the way out. Service was excellent too. I met my husband and daughter for lunch because they work in the area. We were looking for a sit down place and this place was recommended. You walk in and order - then find a seat - it was crowded & loud but it was also Friday at noon. Limited drink options but a number of different types to choose from. We ordered food and sat down. Food arrived after a wait (again not surprising because it was busy). My choice - chicken Parmesan sandwich with chips was proportionate - I loved the red sauce. My husband pick the "Ham & Avo" sandwich with chips (I didn't try because I'm not a fan of avocado) & my daughter got the brick chicken. Presentation was spot on and I was dying to get a bite of those potatoes but when I did - I was disappointed as they were cold. The chicken it self - which was piping hot - had great flavor.
