Quintessential New York atmosphere! OMG we absolutely LOVED the food. Tell the chef to cook it the way he likes and the flavor explodes with the amazing pairing of wine. Stopped in for a dessert treat at the bar. From the moment we stopped to look at the menu until we departed, the friendly approach and courtesy won us over. EVERYONE was cheerful and pleasant. The manager gave us a little treat - thank you - and the bartender woman quietly took care of our every wish before we asked. Plus the chocolate dessert was yummy and the coffee smooth. Atmosphere was lively in and outside. I struggle to find a place to eat in this area and I look forward to returning for a full meal. Only frustration was it didn't come up on google maps when we were looking for restaurant options/restaurants with outdoor seating. And when I tried to find it to share with a friend I still couldn't find it. Had to look at the receipt to recall the name. Already sent someone there tonight. Menu looked delicious for brunch. Made reservations through their website for 11am and received an email confirming the date and time. Went to the restaurant and looked again at the menu outside the restaurant which stated they were open at 11am for brunch. When we went to be seated, we were told they opened at 11:30am. Food might be good, but they need to update their website and signage. Too annoyed to go back so we are eating elsewhere. read more

We ate here last night before going to a show on Broadway. We called before going to make sure they had room to take us. We were told that, while they were busy, they could fit in our table for two. This was not the case. When we arrived, we were told "about a five minute wait". There seemed to be disagreement among the hostesses and five minutes turned into ten, then twenty and then thirty minutes. Finally, we opted to sit at the bar and order and eat our meal at the bar, while they kept telling us that they would have a table for us "in a couple minutes." The food was okay - certainly not worth the hassle. The Caesar salad was very good and lightly dressed. The lasagna was a bit overcooked and a bit dry, but flavorful. The bartender was probably the best asset in the place. He provided quick and friendly service. He gets 5 stars! For what we had, the meal was probably a bit overpriced. We won't be back. We would not have gone in the first place if they had told us they were full and could not really accommodate us. There are lots and lots of places like this in the mid town area - small, neighborhood cafes and bistros. On top of all of the confusion over getting a table, there were no paper towels in the restrooms and one of the hostesses and, we assume, the manager, had to run out of restaurant for 10 minutes to get more paper towels. All of this suggests that while the food may be good, the wait staff very attentive and friendly, and many locals seemed to populate the place, it is not particularly well run from a management perspective. read more

Got caught in the rain on the way to Landmarc so we decided just to go to the closest restaurant. Service was super friendly (slow at first but then they were very attentive and nice). It's hard to review the food since I just had a salad and that is pretty hard to mess up, but my friend had a pizza which was good. I'd return to check out the other food options. read more

We were here for dinner during our wedding anniversary visiting NY and the Hilton recommended this restaurant for Italian. The calamari appetizer was not over cooked, and minestrone delish. We had the Trente Aragosta and Bucatini Bolognese and they were both excellent. Followed by cheesecake which was a perfect end to the dinner. Unfortunately, the food was SO BLAND that I had to turn my dish back and get something else. Others in our party were not happy, but not as assertive. I love this place for its fantastic pastas and good wine list. The half-moon ravioli with mushrooms is tremendous and their rack of lamb is done just right. The only drawback is that this place is pricey. The crowd though is classy so it is great place for dazzling out of towners with New York glamour. The staff is super-friendly and nice. Given the lackluster restaurant selection in Midtown (compared to say, West Village, Gramercy or Chelsea) you can hardly do better than Bistro Milano. read more

Came here for the restaurant week which was the only way we could afford to try the menu. I'm guessing they let their standards slip during this time. Service was despairing as if our attendance was a burden. We were crammed into a tight space since the interior is small with too many tables. Decor was a little bland. Started the meal with delicious house bread dipped in balsamic and olive oil. I ordered a house specialty called Raviolo Di Zucca which was ravioli filled with pumpkin and mascarpone cheese in butter and truffle oil. It was slightly sweet and I throughly enjoyed it. Two others in my party had the Lasagna Emiliana. A traditional rich and meaty lasagna that they both gave top marks. Creme Brulee for dessert, barely sweet, made with Graham's 20 year old tawny port ,was a perfect accent to our meal. We finished with a delightful moscato D'Asti dessert wine and we were fat and happy. Delicious food in a charming outdoor setting on a beautiful summer night. We couldn't have found a better place! Our waiter Ben Hur was fabulous and by the time we left we felt like old friends. Wish we were in town a bit longer so we could make it back. read more

I was hesitant about whether to give Bistro Milano a 4 star or a 3 star, but I chose 4 stars because I just thought about their amazing tiramisu! I've been there several times, for both lunch and dinner, mainly due to its convenient location. The tuna was one of the more memorable dishes for me; the pasta dishes were decent, but nothing too special. The tiramisu is one of the reasons that I keep coming back! I really like how the restaurant feels cozy, bright and relaxing all at the same time. read more

This restaurant was recommended to us by the our hotel concierge for Italian cuisine. Since we were all hungry and it was just a short walk from hotel, so we thought why not. We enjoyed all our 5 entrées except for the linguini clam vongole. It was a bit bland and just a few clams on it for the price. On the upside they serve warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Their customer service was just average. All in all i would say 3.5 star for food, and 3 star for customer service. read more

Ok- I'll start out nice, food wasn't bad, atmosphere was real nice BUT prices were high and service wasn't good. I kept saying to my friends, is it just me or do you feel like we are outcasts here? I mean, never got a breadbasket like the other tables until our food got there and we asked for it. Absent waiter most of the time. Had to ask for utensils. And it wasn't that busy. This is one of my favorite spots in midtown. Wine list is great, the appetizers awesome ( love the tuna tartar and the carpaccio di manzo) The pastas are amazing, the pappardelle al telefono, the mezze lune di vitello and the spaghetti al pomodoro so yumi! When I have a desert, my choice is a basket with mascarpone gelato and berries(I don't remember the name). To finish, what makes this place deserves all the 5 stars is the service, all the staff, the manager (the bald guy), the bartender and the whole staff is just awesome!!! read more
