First of all, I recommend studying the menu on Yelp BEFORE you come! I had and it still took me 15 minutes to make up my mind. We were a party of 11 and had quite the wait till they could assemble tables to seat us together, it was that busy. Most of us were first timers and were overwhelmed by the choices. Our waitress Nikki had the best attitude, giving great advice and having such patience!! I decided to go with their award winning ribs and was not disappointed. My sides were the coleslaw and cheddar grits. Coleslaw was moist, large but just a tad sweeter than I usually prefer. Not that I didn't finish it, lol. The cheddar grits were the first thing I tried and never put down my spoon till they were gone. The cornbread was warm but nothing special. The ribs were very good, so tender the meat fell off the bone. I chose the hot bbq sauce which was tasty but not what I would call hot. I definitely want the larger order of ribs next time. 3 ribs was not enough! Their beverage selection was good, well priced and would probably have something for most people although they did not have a nonalcoholic beer selection. Would I return? You betcha! Walked in to get a sandwich to go. The server/hostess said she didn't know the menu or food. Had no recommendations or advice. The meat-beef did not have the Slow and Low deep infusion of smoke and tenderness. The portion size was good and the potato salad above average. Meat was dry and not good. Prices were average. We stop by this place since we was starving and who doesn't like bbq. It's off the freeway, the place share a parking lot with other company's. Walking in the place had a good amount of people coming in and out. The decor was cute and a lot to look at. It was easy to place my to go order, the girl was nice and friendly. I placed my order and tried to add the sticky buns but they was sold out aww man. I did get to order the bread pudding with bourbon sauce. I got our order and proceed to head to the truck where we started the eating process. I order two combinations plates for us. I had the guts to try their Mac and cheese, I'm not sure why.. lol After tasting the Mac and cheese I knew I made the wrong decision. Look every dish that is made needs to have seasoning my goodness people. The Mac and cheese was so blan I force ate it after added bbq sauce on it. The ribs was good and moist, it's just some parts was tough. The chicken looks like it needed some more cooking time to get some color. Corn bread was ok nothing special about it. The bbq beans are so I thought was beans since that's what I ordered it taste like chili, so I was confused on what was happening. One of our favorite foods in BBQ and BJ's Nevada Barbecue in Sparks did not disappoint. From their perfectly cooked meats to their homemade sides made for a thoroughly satisfying meal. My husband and I came in for lunch after running errands. My husband decided on a lunch special 3 pork ribs which came with choice of 2 sides (which there are several to choose from), cornbread and a drink. I decided on sliced beef brisket which also came with two sides and cornbread. Let's dive right into the sides. First of all the French fries are to literal die for. Fresh cut right on the premises into a delightful shoe string combo of crispy and soft heavenly goodness. There is a reason they call them Kick Ass! I upgraded to a side salad which was fresh and crisp along with a perfectly chunky blue cheese dressing. The coleslaw was creamy with a sweet and tart tang. The pork ribs were meaty, the brisket was not too fatty. The sauce comes in mild, medium or hot, so you decide how much if any kick you want. If you like BBQ as much as we do, you have to give BJ Nevada a try! read more

I love coming here! We have been coming to BJ's for 15 years. Started going early morning's when I was pregnant. Then had the baby and came at least once a week since we were not sleeping. Kristie is the main reason we go and come so often. We only sit in here area. She would hold our new born for us so we could eat. And now we still consider her family and call her Nana. BJ's is the sort of staple BBQ that every town deserves, but doesn't always get. Being an institution, you might think that standards dip after a while, but that's not the case with BJ's. Most recently, I enjoyed their Roast Beef french dip, and their fried Fish special. Considering I've had more than a few French dips be underwhelming, it's great to know that BJ's puts out an incredible sandwich with a mouth-watering au jus. The fried fish special is a fantastic filet of fish that is perfectly fried with a beautiful, crisp batter. It managed to stay solid an crisp the whole time, never once feeling too oily or soggy. I know all too well how much craftsmanship goes into such a batter, and I appreciate them for putting up such a solid plate. I tend to pass on the cornbread, as I like mine to have a bit more of a crust, or with actual corn inside. As it was, it was a nice piece of corn-cake that I'd rather substitute with cole-slaw or their sweet potato mash. Our service has always been stellar. BJ's seems to run like a well oiled machine and their food comes out in great time. This has been our go to spot for BBQ when we stay at Sparks Marina. Now that my sister has moved to Reno we will be in Reno often. We had friends that wanted BBQ so yesterday we placed 2 orders to go. Highly disappointed. My friend had the chicken salad and I ordered half a chicken both of our chicken was so dry we had to keep water nearby to wash it down. The chicken tasted like was cooked the day before reheated and tasted old. The chicken leg was a tad size larger than a Cornish game hen. The pulled pork was dry and overcooked, and sadly the ribs were average. Normally the ribs are one of the meats we enjoy. The cornbread and coleslaw were good. I went in and ordered "to go" to be picked up later in the afternoon. My order was ready on time and the staff I interacted with was helpful and courteous. However, after the poor quality of the meat and cook on the meat we will try other BBQ joints. Not inclined to return to BJ's. read more

Please do not come here!! The service is consistently slow and they are extremely rude and everything you need is an inconvenience. I have stopped dining in because of this. They have proved today that they can't even get to go orders out in a timely manner. You'll place your order and they will tell you 20 minutes and when you get there 30 minutes after the call they will make you stand around waiting for another 30. Food is not good enough to go through all this mediocre at best. Don't bother trying to talk to the manager he will stare at you like he's about to cry then walk away with no apology or explanation. We decided we aren't eating here anymore. The service is always very slow.. this includes takeout. The brisket had a ton of fat. We requested extra sauce but didn't get any. The best brunch spot and it's local! I had no idea BJ's had such a delicious brunch menu and I'm so glad someone told me about it! We went in around 11am on a Sunday morning and our group of 4 was seated with little wait time. First we started with a round of BJ's Bacon Bloody Mary's. This seriously one of the best Bloody Mary's I've had in Reno. There aren't a ton of toppings (celery, bacon, lime, olives) like other places but it really doesn't need all the extra stuff. It isn't watery, has great flavor, and the best part is the bacon rim. We ordered the corned beef hash stacker, the chicken fried steak, and biscuits and gravy with eggs, hash browns, and a side of hot link. The corned beef hash stacker was tasty and the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce went well with the home fries and corned beef. I also liked the biscuit and apple butter that came with it. The chicken fried steak was crispy and the gravy was flavorful, and the hot link was a good addition to the biscuits and gravy. All of it really gives you that "comfort meal" feeling. The portions were huge and with the Bloody Mary beforehand, it was a very filling meal. However, you have to save room for dessert! We each got a cinnamon roll but just one could have definitely been shared by everyone but it tastes just as good warmed up the next day! Make sure you order this ahead of time because they do run out! Overall I would definitely go back and it is currently my favorite brunch place in Reno. The service was excellent our hostess was very attentive and did an excellent job making sure that we were okay. It was a great experience. This review is based off breakfast only. We drove past this little gem on our way to a different spot for breakfast. It might possibly be the best decision of the day, deciding to turn around and check this spot out. Walking in, I got a big whiff of that amazing bbq aroma and started salivating immediately. The menu offered a huge selection of bomb sounding breakfast eats. Seriously, everything on the menu sounded delish. We decided on the Hash Stacker and Shrimp & Grits. Another amazing decision! The food was bomb! The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The shrimp were perfect. Everything was seasoned perfect. The hash was amazing. Everything was amazing. The Shrimp & grits are a must try-- perfectly seasoned shrimp and the grits are made just right The only complaint with this place is the fish fry Fridays--- the fish is good when it's piping hot but as soon as it gets a little cooled down it immediately becomes a greasy soggy mess--- perhaps it's the oil they use-- but honestly everything else is definitely on point read more

Their whole Menu is not their strong point and you should definitely be careful why you order. I was super excited for the meatloaf but it contained barely any meat and was man only comprised of filler and disappointing spices. The Mac and cheese was watery and had a really plastic-y flavor. It was better when I added a bit of salt but I'd definitely skip it next time. Onto the positives, the pork and brisket were cooked perfectly and super flavorful. The dirty rice had a lot of flavor but some of the meat chunks were really large and I wish they were broken down a bit more. Overall they had strengths, like their service, and weaknesses, like their inconsistency in flavors, but it was a decent meal. I love walking in the door for the first time, the smoker aroma is just heavenly, for somebody who loves smoked meats. The service is top notch, with coffee cups topped up and friendly service.
