Went to Black Bear diner to celebrate hubby's birthday. Breakfast is the best. We were greeted when we walked in. We were seated right away and the hostess took our drink order. Our drinks were brought quickly. Our waitress arrived shortly after our drinks and took our order. She followed up with us during our meal and was friendly. Our food came out quickly. It was hot and the portions were perfect. The food was tasty. It is fun to see all the bears decorating the restaurant. The restroom was clean.

I took advantage of the Black Bear Diner Birthday Club Reward and ordered the Bear's Choice Breakfast. I ordered two scrambled eggs, upgraded to two round sausage patties and French Toast. My wife ordered the Little Less Dinner Bear Paw Chicken Fried Steak. My eggs were nicely scrambled, thyme seasoning in the sausage was a bit overpowering and the toast was very good, crisp on the outside but moist on the inside. My wife's chicken fried steak tasted more like hamburger, mashed potatoes with gravy was tasty and the string beans with bacon tasted more like string beans out of a can. I enjoyed my meal and I thought my wife's meal was okay. Staff is nice and they are quick and prompt. I like the food and will be back to try the other items in the menu. Good restaurant for families and there is something for everyone.

Black Bear Diner is my favorite restaurant chain in America. With more than 150 locations spanning 13 states and more coming, it is one of the fastest growing chains in the restaurant business. The Danville location is situated near the I-680 Sycamore Valley Road exit, directly across from the Rose Garden Shopping Center. I met up with George F. here for brunch on 01/19/2025 at 10am. Upon entering, we were greeted and quickly seated at a booth on the left side. The interior was very clean. Decors were similar to other Black Bear locations. Our server got us started with a couple cups of coffee while we decide on what to get. After a few minutes of deliberating, George got the Rueben while I opted for the Joe's Hobo Omelette. Our food arrived in about 10 minutes. My omelette was delicious. It was loaded with three types of meat, cheese, and spinach and the eggs weren't overcooked. I requested my hash browns to be extra crispy and they were cooked to my specification. Everything was to my liking. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Coffee was refilled on multiple occasions, and our requests were promptly fulfilled. Prices here were less expensive than other breakfast spots in the area. All things considered, I think a 5-star rating in this case is justified. I will return. BONUS MATERIAL: - Plenty of parking on site.

Right off the Sycamore exit on 680 this diner has been a staple in the area . Great service and more than enough food for those hungry bellies . Ordered a Rueben sandwich with fries and a Bear's choice breakfast 2 eggs over hard 2 sweet cream pancakes , and 2 Italian sausage patties for additional $1.99 More than enough in the early morning afternoon . Martha was the shining light of the entire meal . Cheery , smiling , and so accommodating . Great breakfast experience . Love these homey type places ..... true comfort

Well, I was less than impressed tonight. Before I give a very honest review I do feel like Black Bear is a place for breakfast and that's really it. With that being said my little guy wanted "panpakes" as he says so I obliged. I will be doing another review of just breakfast because I do think they have great options. Tonight my kiddo loved the mini volcano per usual. It has pancakes, sausage, eggs, and a piece of bacon. Everything was gone! My mom had the pot roast. She said it was a nice smaller portion but overall flavor was sub par. I had the california burger lettuce wrapped with cold slaw. The burger was ok but needed some sauce. The cold slaw was not good. It was dry and had no flavor. I was honestly shocked by this and do not recommend ordering it. Overall, we still love black bear. We love the diner feel and all of the cute merchandise. The service is always great and everyone is so kind. We look forward to coming back for breakfast.

    Double pancake!!

Don't understand low star score. Solid, All American diner food with generous portions and amazing service. Ordered vegetarian omelet with a pancake. Order came and was great. A few minutes later, they came over with another pancake because staff felt first one was undersized. Thanks to our waiter Ray and the staff!!

Holy moly, the portions are huge! You definitely won't leave hungry. The menu is extensive, the staff is professional and efficient, and the food is tasty. I loved the vibe of the whole restaurant - imagine Great Wolf Lodge mixed with Bob Evan's.

They have some huge biscuits, but I don't think they're traditional biscuits.

Black Bear is my go to with my friend when we want to meet after 9pm, ugly, in jammies, and possible crying! The privacy afforded at this BBD is awesome. The food is not stellar but it does the job for a crying fit. I didn't love the biscuits. They were huge so I was so excited but they had NO TASTE! It was really sad. However the hot chocolate with a heaping amount of whip cream and the buttery English muffin is able to soothe the soul.

I needed some dinner quick and I checked the GPS and this Black Bara came up nearby. I've had pretty good luck with Back bear in the past, so I decide to come here. The inside looks similar to all the other Black Bears, you'd expect that with a big chain like this. The server was over ight away and took my order. I've seen the fish and chips on the menu before, but never had it , till now! It arrives with 3 pretty decent sized fried fish pieces. It's some whit fish, not sure which one, pretty sure it's not halibut though. It's probably pollock I think. It came with a big pile of chips (fries in American!) It included coleslaw and a salad. The salad was decent and had good tomatoes. The house 1000 island dressing was good too. The coleslaw was a bit too wet for my taste, but it is what it is here, I'd get more fries instead of the coleslaw. Overall it was a good experience and I'd come back.

Eggs Benedict and a beautiful presentation. Not as tasty as it looks.

My first time here. Great attentive & friendly service the whole meal. I liked the coffee a lot. I ordered an eggs benedict and the presentation was impressive. A lot of food. The first few bites were delicious poached egg, English muffin, & bacon. Then the next bite wasnt good, a slightly off flavor. It was the thinly sliced tomato. Not sure why it tasted bad but I lost my appetite. Probably most diners would be ok with it, but the tomato off flavor ruined it for me. Sadly it went into the green waste can later. The fruit cup was not fresh.

It was my first time eating here, despite there being A LOT of locations nationwide! Their menu is extensive, which I love. I had their "light" meatloaf plate, which was actually a good size with 2 sides for just $12. Everything tasted great! I was full but their dessert menu kept catching my eye! I had the brownie with huckleberry ice cream & it was delicious! The server seemed to be new but he was a nice kid. The restaurant was nice inside as well. I'd definitely come back again for breakfast, which all Yelp reviews said is what they're known for!

We were seated quickly outside. It was such a nice evening out and not cold. There were heat lamps too if needed. Our server was Toni. She was amazing and took care of us! She was super sweet and friendly! Excellent service. We ordered the streak frites, fish of the day which was a salmon and risotto, Paloma and lemon meringue. Steak frites was cooked perfectly! It was a hanger steak so it was soft and tender. Fries were crispy and it came with an arugula side salad. Dressing was lemony. Toni was so nice and even found us something similar to chimichurri sauce. The fish of the day was a salmon with risotto. It was cooked medium. Not over cooked and nice and flakey. Risotto was really good and lemony. The lemon meringue was probably one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. It came with a raspberry compote. The meringue was sooo soft and whipped and came with a delicious graham cracker crust. We even asked if they sold the pie as a whole but unfortunately they don't. Loved this spot! Will def be back. When my friend and I shared a plate, he made his disapproval known. I'm happy to pay a split fee. Just don't make me feel judged for it -- especially when the table ordered plenty of wine/cocktails, entrees, desserts, sides, and bottled water. Speaking of which: I asked for still, bottled water. He brought tap. When I followed up, he arrived with a single small Aqua Panna -- tap glasses still on the table. When I pointed out one bottle wasn't enough for our party, he dropped two more without pouring any of them. We now had twelve glasses of water crowding the table and not one filled -- except for the tap. That pattern held all night. Empty wine glasses, cocktail glasses, dirty plates -- nothing was ever proactively cleared. Everything required asking. Repeatedly. He also cleared across guests rather than walking around the table. Basic. But the most serious issue: at the start of dinner, he asked about allergies. One guest clearly stated a walnut and pecan allergy. He then brought out a dessert containing pecans. That's not an oversight. That's a liability. We tipped generously anyway... But it wasn't earned tonight. Esin has always been a place I look forward to when I'm back in town. Tonight was a real disappointment.

The bread is outstanding, akin to a baguette with its crusty outside and plush interior. I wonder if they bake it fresh in house, what with the bread arriving steaming and hot to the touch. The oil that accompanies it is spectacular too, perfectly acidic with the balsamic vinegar contrasted by the acrid olive oil. All entrees are delicious though not the best in show by any means. For a casual restaurant though, the libations have no business being that delicious. I had an old fashioned, something of a go-to as of late. Leaves nothing to be desired. Truly just an archetype old fashioned, a symphony of bitters and whiskey. Dessert at the end was tiramisu, which was a good tiramisu. Such is expected at an Italian spot though.

As my husband and I are both movie nerds, it was only fitting to make a reservation at the restaurant featured in the movie. Don't judge us, ha ha. The restaurant is described as a restaurant with Asian influence, and the interior reflects this. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and dimly lit, perfect for a date night. It has definitely been revamped since "Mrs. Doubtfire," but the date night aesthetic seen in the movie still remains. For drinks, I ordered the peach Bellini and my husband ordered the old fashioned. The peach Bellini was warm and sweet in a good way. My husband said his old fashioned "tasted off." For the appetizer, we ordered the charcuterie board. This is the best charcuterie we have had! The bread was toasted nicely. The brie, gouda, and manchego cheeses, as cheeses typically are ha ha, were very addicting. The apricot jam and truffle honey added nice flavors to the bread. The coppa and prosciutto meats were tender and not too salty. For our entrees, I ordered the Bridges burger medium well. It comes with herb aioli, LTO, and melted Havarti cheese, all between a toasted brioche bun. This is one of the best and juiciest burgers I've ever had! It was cooked to perfection, the cheese perfectly melted, and the bun both crispy and fluffy. The herb aioli was not overpowering and added just the right amount of "herbiness." My husband ordered the grilled pork chop, which comes with an apple chutney, applewood smoked bacon, collard greens, parmesan cheese grits, and a red wine demi glace. I tried his entree. As someone who doesn't really care for pork chops in general, I loved this one. It was very tender and juicy and the apply chutney was a delicious accompaniment. The cheese grits were well-cooked and seasoned, which pleased this Southern girl's heart. The red wine sauce was thick and a nice touch to the pork. For dessert, we ordered the molten chocolate cake. Unfortunately, there was no "lava" in the center, but the cake itself was very gooey and rich and the vanilla gelato offered by our waitress added an extra layer of creaminess and decadence! Our waitress was super nice and kept smiling the entire time, adding to this incredible dining experience. The other wait staff that assisted us were no different.
