We used to order take out from this Habit burger plenty of times during the pandemic. When we did the food overall was always good as it had good flavor and decent sides. The ambiance of the inside is nothing special as it's like most burger joints where you can hear the sizzling of the grill. Along with the music and conversations of nearby guests. As for service it was also always good as they are nice and overall always got our orders right. The only reason I am giving a 4 out of 5 stars though is because one this location can be a pain to find in San Ramon as it is kind of hidden. And two, there were times when we got our food when we ordered take out and the fries were either a bit soggy or cold. Leaving us a bit concerned about how long it was sitting out for before we picked it up. Also means the fries could be cooked a bit longer to give them a more crispy texture. In the end, it is still a solid location to go to like other Habit Burgers and its worth a shot. read more

Stay away from here. Let's let another business take the location. Putting the nasty fake smoke flavoring in the meat aside, the amount of smoke pouring out of their vent hood over the restaurant smells up the whole parking lot. I understand the model is charbroiled but at least cook good meat to make it actually smell good. I am sorry cause I love burgers but not this place! Burgers are always good... thats the only reason I come back. Floors are sticky and it seems like the staff is always too busy to bother to clean up. I understand that all these companies are trying to move over to self-service, but I for one do not like to stand there at a self-service kiosk trying to figure out what buttons to press while someone who works there that could just as easily take my order stares at me and waits. So instead I go up to the cashier stand and wait for them to acknowledge that they need to take my order. It's probably a generational thing, but if you get paid to work there and I don't, I don't believe I should be the one taking down my own order. read more

Habit has this promo going now, called the Gotta Have It Habit meal deal. There's different options, for $10.00, $8.00 and $6.00. The best deal seemed like the $10 one where you get a 1/2 Santa Barbara grilled sandwich, which is one whole beef patty and all the fixin's including guac. plus fries or the tempura green beans, plus a 5 piece order of chicken nuggets AND and big unlimited drink. That's a pretty good deal, though Applebee's $10 Bacon Cheeseburger deal is right up there in value. But here you don't have to leave a tip! I was here with a co-worker and she ordered the same deal as me, except she git the tempura green beans, I like fries! he order was taken no problem and the staff was very friendly and efficient in that trained like In N Out way. WE got one of those buzzy thingys that told us when the order was ready. We got a nice booth. Yep, that buizzy goes off and I go up and get the food. We filled our drinks, they have all these other flavors other than the standard soda choices. I gotta say, normally I get the Double Charburger with cheese, but the prices are going up on those items, so this is a deal and still plenty of food! The Santa Barbara sandwich was made perfectly and stacked high. The fries were a good portion. I'd pass on those chicken nuggets though, I'm just not a fan of nuggets anyway! My friend loved those tempura green beans ... I take fries any day! I'm glad we stopped, it did take less time than if we went to a sit down and be served place like Applebee's. A couple of years ago, Habit used to be pretty good. Now, not so much. Their app doesn't work well and even though I put my order through; when I got there 17 minutes later, they told me they never received it. I had to check with my cc to be sure I didn't get double charged before I re-did my order in the restaurant instead. By this time; they were about to close in 30 minutes and they literally slapped our order together. I can understand if it is within 10 minutes of closing; but, we were rushed. They had already put the agua frescas away and when I ordered with the employee he could have easily informed me that he had put it away or that it was "sold out". Instead when I walked back to him to ask where the strawberry lemonade was; he said they "sold out". I had just ordered with him less than two minutes ago. The chicken nuggets were extremely hard and I ended up tossing it. Their tempura green beans were stale/wet (not crispy at all) and stringy. The last couple times I came here the customer service was horrible. It is the one lady that is newer in the front. I had already paid for extra ranch and she charged me again when I asked for it. Then I asked for the teriyaki sauce that I also already paid for at the kiosk and she charged me for that too. It's not about the money, she's also rude when she's charging you. My son went again last night and he asked for extra teriyaki sauce for his chicken sandwich and she said there is a charge and he accepted and then she said the register is closed and that he can't have it. Came here around 1pm for take out. We order the steakhouse char melt which we had on Sunday and craved for it again. We tried the one in Dublin and it was very good. But not so much today. The steak was so salty. The bread was thin and very soggy!! We also got a BOGO chicken club. The avocado was pretty bad looking!!! And the toast was also very thin and soggy. I've been a fan of Habit since its existence. The food has been pretty consistent all and all. However, the past few times I've been it seems like it's fallen into the McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy's category level. You know when the photos on their menu or advertisement show this big voluptuous meaty burger. Only to get a crackhead like burger when it arrives on your plate. That's what I got, a crack head. Even worse, my wife got a burnt crackhead burger. The buns on that crackhead was so burnt that at every bite, the over toasted burnt buns was throwing Tyson like punches at her gum lines. My wife's gums were screaming in agony with every chew. I also got that 5 piece chicken nugget deal that I'm pretty sure they thawed out 15 seconds before they threw it in the fryer. The nuggets resembled large rabbit droppings. These too were hard, burnt and overcooked. Needless to say, I think in n out is probably the only decent fast food burger joint around. At least you'll get what's expected. Why did I give them two stars? One star for the strawberry lemonade. And another star for the all you can eat banana peppers that gave me diarrhea the next morning. But why would you give them a star if it gave you diarrhea you might ask? Took our order and brought it to us when ready. We had the chicken club, double char, onion rings, and chocolate shake. Food was cooked to preference and was prepared promptly. I love habit burger, and the food is always good when I come. when I get it in Walnut Creek, it's fast and delicious. The issue with this burger location is that it is not "fast"food in the slightest. every time I come here, I am a little less eager to come back, even though I love habit but its because of how long my food takes. it feels like I have to carve 30 minutes out of my day just to stop in and get a burger. We stop by in San Ramon here and there for the kids to play and hang out, and come here for lunch every once in awhile. They can get pretty busy but get through orders pretty quickly--the kiosks definitely help as well! The kids meal with the gummy burger is super cute. I asked to speak to Jazmin, she showed me a notice they received in a binder saying no longer accepted... but I pointed out, NO EXPIRATION DATE, and 'redeem anytime'. As mentioned before, trying to eat healthier so got their BBQ bacon burger with 1 beef patty instead of the double char with 2. Not bad flavor. Crispy bacon, nice BBQ and mayo sauces. Appreciate the perfect amount of sauce to hydrate the burger without making it soggy. Liked the char on the outside of the patty but wish the inside was a little less well done. The meat was a bit too dry for 1 patty and needed the save from the sauces. Two patties are juicier and make a better meat to bun ratio. But then that defeats the purpose of trying to reduce my red meat intake. Always liked their tempura green beans so was hoping for the same vibe from the cauliflower. Again, trying to eat healthier and get my veggie fix. Unfortunately, their cauliflower was a fail for me. Was boiled or steamed so while healthier, not tasty like their fried green beans. Still like Habit Burger. A couple of fails don't erase their wins like the tuna sandwich, salads, seasonal specials, shakes and the aforementioned tempura green beans. While this particular visit was only 3 stars, overall my Habit experience is 4 stars. Will be back. read more

Updated review after 6 years! We have used Doordash from Habit a few times during the pandemic and the food has been pretty good. They offer both burgers and hit sandwiched with a variety of buns and fillings to fit all tastes. Impossible Burgers, Salmon Burgers, Double Charburgers, Fried and Grilled Chicken Sandwiched, etc. Some of my recent favorites: Santa Barbara Double Char - I love the toast-like bun and the richness the avocado adds to the burger. Chicken Caprese on Garlic Ciabatta - A seasonal offering and a good one. So much melted mozzarella that munching on this is super messy. The chicken breast is super moist and juicy. Regular Fries - Yes I miss the Tempura beans but their regular fries are solid. Doordash allows options on salt level and regular, extra, or extra extra crispy! I found the regular pretty crispy enough even for a delivery order! Raising to 4 stars. Another to add to our lunch rotation. Great to have seasonal specialty burgers. read more

I just want to say how impressed I was of all the workers. I came here on 9/5 at 8pm and as I sat waiting for my food, I watched how fast all the employees worked (it was very busy). The patty melt was so good! It was on corn rye bread and it wasn't very greasy. I definitely recommend this and I don't know if it will stay on the menu. The pink lemonade with lime was very refreshing plus you get free refills (along with other fountain drinks). It's not that big inside but they do have tables outside or just take your food to go. I did not want to write this review because this was mine and my girls local spot to get food. We enjoyed coming here so much, for so many years. We honestly never had any issues until today. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad and a kids charburger with cheese, no ketchup, fries and milk. We made the order with JESSICA. My girl was starving since we spent all morning at the pool. She asked to get habit, which was the norm for us. When she got her burger, she took a bite and ketchup oozed out. She said, mama there's ketchup in this! I told her, no worries I'll talk to the lady who took our order. I explained we ordered no ketchup. The first thing Jessica said was, "she already ate it." I explain she's starving but she literally hates ketchup. Keep in mind, my girl only took like two bites. And then Jessica even POINTED to her and said loudly again, she's eating it! How freaking embarrassing! Everyone turned to look at us!!! I had to ask my girl, do you like that and if not, drop it! I had to ask her while everyone was looking at us. Was that really necessary???? I don't get it! So of course, my girl says I don't like it but I'm starving. I had to tell her not to touch the burger or else they won't remake it. So she dropped it. JESSICA then proceeded to say, we won't remake it if you don't hand me the burger and you'll have to wait at least 15 minutes. So after ALL OF THAT, she FINALLY agreed to remake the kids burger. WOW!!! We have literally never been treated like this. Was that really all necessary for them to remake a KIDS BURGER that they made incorrectly? Jessica had the WORSE attitude!
