Great service and friendly staff BUT the frier is not set to the correct temp bc fries were under done and when i asked for them to be redone instead of making a fresh batch he/she refried the old ones. The frier was clearly not up to correct temp bc fries were saturated in oil. Frying at the correct temp prevents oil saturation. Also, my daughter's pancakes were under done and tasted like raw dough. More minor issue was i had to hunt for a ketchup bottle that wasn't empty. Otherwise everything was great. read more

The wife and I decided to try Black Bear Diner for our Thanksgiving dinner. My wife had the turkey dinner and I had prime rib. Over all the service was fine, as it was a holiday, although the servier did forget to put vegetable (green beans) on my plate. The main problem I had was with the preparation of the prime rib. I asked for medium rare and told that only medium was avalible, so I accepted that. When the meal arrived there was absolutely no pink of any kind on the cut. At best the meat would be classified as well done, and very close to jerky. I would give Black Bear a 4 star rating on everything except the prime rib, to which I assign a zero star rating. read more

If you like diner food, this place is for you. Great service, good pricing and big portions. They have lots of parking and space inside. I didn't have to wait at all for a table of 3 on a Saturday morning. Mocha Iced Cold Brew (400 cals.): Sweet and yummy but I think they could add more caffeine. I wasn't caffeinated enough, so we went to Starbucks across the way. Just tasted like chocolate milk tbh! Chicken Fried Steak (560 cals.): I got this with hash browns and a pancake. Good portion. Great as always! It's very surprising to see that lots of people do not go anymore and it's always empty whenever I go, though the staff is so nice and the food is so good! FOOD: Delicious as always. I ordered the Volcano which was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and there were tons of maple syrup for the food. The bacon was also very crisp and delicious. My brother ordered the omelet and biscuit. The day I went, the biscuits were just baked so it was delicious. Super buttery and soft and the butter just melted on top. SERVICE: The waitress is always extremely nice. She always came to check on us, gave me a kid's menu to play with while I waited for my food, and was always very sweet with questions and all. AMBIENCE: Extremely pleasant and quiet. It is a perfect setting for a morning brunch or afternoon meal as the music wasn't too loud, the TVs weren't overbearing, and so on. The AYCE Friday special fishy fry is a disappointment, i suggest u to just move on. The fish is pre made which i guarantee you it came from the freezer aisle of a superstore. Although the fries were abundant it should just be secondary to the fish. And if u put special in your menu shouldn't be actually special? This is the second time I came here and i dunno if i just seem to get the wrong food to order. But then again, everything in the menu should have equal bearing of being good to great?!? Had lunch here with my brother and BFF. I had a rough morning so needed a hearty meal to get me back into focus. We ordered a few steak entrees complete with house salads, clam chowder, and fries. The food was good for a chain restaurant. Steaks were cooked as requested but the cut of meat wasn't the most spectacular -- can't have high expectations because it is Black Bear. Salad and soup were great. Nothing negative to note about service. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. The menu is very extensive. We had such a great meal at the Napa BBD that we decided to check out this one but it really left a lot to be desired. Our hash browns were barely warm, our scrambled eggs were brown and the bacon was limp even though we'd asked for it to be extra crispy. We sent the bacon back and mentioned the cold potatoes and got a second plate of bacon that was less crispy than the first and an apology for the cold potatoes but no offer of replacement. Not sure why the hash browns in Napa were crispy, hot and tasty but these weren't so guessing it's a kitchen issue. Our waitress, Socorro, was helpful but for $50 we kept thinking Jack in the Box would have been a better choice for hot food. We won't return. read more

And the waitress gave me a disgusting face when I asked about our order. Couldn't even get our coffee out first. When the food finally came out, it was served on dirty dishes. I was at work so I ordered delivery. Since it was delivery I called the restaurant and asked that utensils, condiments be added to my order. I received the order. The breakfast was very good, eggs fluffy, crispy thick bacon, toast, however there was nothing to eat it with. Remember, I'm at a work site. Aside from 2 pats of butter, No knife, No fork, No salt, No pepper, and no jam/jelly, especially after I called and requested it! Came for brunch on Monday with my family and was beyond disappointed. Not only did it take 45 minutes to get our food, both orders of pancakes came out burnt. We sent both pancakes back and when we got the replacement, the sprinkle pancakes had peppermint in it and wasn't cooked all the way. The cub pancakes were even worse, still burnt and pretty much had strawberries tossed onto the plate and looked nothing like what was being advertised. If your cook can't make it remotely close, don't advertise it. My sisters and I ordered an eggs benedict and it was smothered in sauce, so much that we couldn't even eat it. I believed this to be possible because the amazing staff maintained the dining area exceptionally well. Our server, Juanita, arrived shortly after and provided excellent service from start to finish. She maintained eye contact during our orders, and ensured that we made the right choices - her experience serving people showed! She even provided expert service for my friend who had some nausea. The food came out and was precisely what we ordered, hot and fresh. The Italian sausage was tender and the eggs were done exactly how I ordered them - with some cheddar and onions. If your going to Dine here take your kids! and if you dine here take them with you at 11 am or later. This is because they have kids meals for $4.99 to $8.99 I believe. And if you dine after 11 am for the kids meals it comes with a free ice cream sundae dessert! So very affordable pricing for the kids meals and they are pretty good! I will get one Entre myself. It is a fun place to go to for the kids. They love the bear statues and cabin like atmosphere. But yes great place to go eat with the kids for the great priced meals they have! read more

I went in for breakfast while my car was receiving routine maintenance. I ordered the special on the banner. It included 2 eggs any style, 1 bacon or sausage, 2 pancakes or french toast. The server asked another server what it came with and said it includes toast and hash browns. I said sourdough toast. A few minutes later, she said it didn't come with hash browns. I said it was okay to add on. I was working on my computer, so I wasn't paying much attention, but the plate didn't come with pancakes or french toast. The butter on the sourdough was not melted, so it was just spread on. The hashbrowns were either super crispy or raw. I was hungry and busy, so I just ate it. I looked at the bill and they charged me $7.89 for the side of crappy hashbrowns. I should have complained, but I was in a hurry. I only want what they advertised and cooked properly. It should not be that hard to deliver. But somehow they found a way to fail! read more
