Great neighborhood bar. No attitude here. They have great drinks at reasonable prices. The food is really good too. They have great burgers, chicken fingers and wings, salads and specials. If you are going to complain about people smoking, don't come here because they do. Service can be hit or miss unless you get the fabulous Heidi. They have a ton of tvs so you can always see the game. It gets a little loud but people are always very friendly there. read more

This place is awesome. Reading the bad reviews kind of blows my mind, because I have been here three times and all of them have been great. Heidi has been our server two of those times. Lucky me. I have a Tennessee and a Chicago bar within two miles of my apartment. This place is the best Chicago bar outside of Chitown that I have ever been. If you come, get the fried okra as your side, or just a basket. They are very generous, and it is the best I have ever had since my momma's. Smoking inside, really? I went in for LUNCH and could barely find the bar from the huge plumes of smoke bellowing out of the three other patrons mouths. I decided to try and suffer through by sitting next to the front door because I was starving. Bad idea. I am not sure who "voted" this place to have the best burger on peachtree, but they were obviously idiots. I have been going to BBT for several years now and have never had a bad experience. The food is always good (mussels in wine sauce and stuffed portabella are among my favorites). The live music is always good and the service is consistently friendly and efficient. This place is a real gem in Atlanta! I came here to watch the superbowl game and was enlightened to see such great service paired with fresh food and yummy drinks. One of the new owners, Timmy, is very welcoming and makes sure that you are completely satisfied with your drinks and munchies! I am a huge fan of the Bear's buffalo chicken wings, but can't resist their burgers either. (The menu has a lot of variety, but I am a creature of habit.) The staff is very friendly and this might be my favorite place to watch the Braves, March Madness or practically any major sporting event (I count seven TVs in all, though I don't really think you'd call the Bear a sports bar). And they have live music on weekends, which is unusual in this part of Atlanta. read more

The more I go, the more I like it. I have tried more of the food and it is WAY better than your general bar food. The drinks are poured well and at a very reasonable price. As I said before, the bartenders are great. I recently met one of the owners and he is a super nice guy. I really want to love this place. Being a born and raised Chicago kid I was ecstatic when I drove past this place, a mere 8 minute uber from my apartment, and saw a Blackhawks flag hanging out the door. I've been there 2 or 3 time since. The food is good.. It's bar food but it's good bar food. They do seem to have an issue with stocking their bar correctly because they always seem to be out of something and it never fails to be the drink I order. That's not really a big deal to me... I have two complaints but understand that at least one of them really isn't their fault. 1) If you're an "official bar" of the numerous Chicago sports teams I'd expect there to be more of an effort to ensure those games were playing. I don't know if they play the sound for games because each time I've gone they have had a musician or something else going on during one of the games I wanted to watch. Sound would be nice though. 2) and this is probably the larger of the two issues I have. It's like every single person that goes to this bar is specifically going there to smoke as many cigarettes as possible. You can't smoke in bars or restaurants in Chicago, and haven't been able to for about 10-12 years so I'm trying to get used to the smokey bar thing again. It's almost unbearable. I'm fine with smokers. If you want to smoke in the bar that's cool obviously... but why the crazy chain smoking? And why does it seem to be this bar specifically? Is it because it's a bunch of Chicago people that are making up for the lost years of being able to smoke? I don't know.. But unfortunately it will probably keep me away from a place that otherwise seems perfect for me to become a regular. read more

I've been coming to Black Bear for a long time and have always enjoyed my experience here, The food takes a little while because it's cooked to order, but it's usually pretty good. The service is usually great, but this time it was... HORRENDOUS!!!!!!! Our server, who I only assume is "the new help" she said her name was Mandy, was inattentive, slow and above all, rude. Is it so much to ask for a refill of coca cola? Whenever we needed her she was no where to be found, until we looked around to find her hovering over a table that was obviously her boyfriend or some kind of significant other. If this had been my first time to Black Bear, I would never come back. For the area of town Black Bear is in you would think that they could employ better personality, or a personality at all, and I hate to say it , but better looks as well. Customers should always be treated as if they are new, whether they come in once or five times a week. This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. read more
