One of my go-to coffee shops in the area! Great vibes, good coffee with cute latte art with every cup. I'd say their matcha latte can do with a bit more matcha flavor. I had their chocolate chip cookie for the first time today. I've been eyeing it forever, it looks like it came straight out of a pinterest post! Definitely this is not just a coffee shop. They serve an amazing breakfast. Eggs served on freshly baked bread with avocados and bacon. Everything seasoned to perfection, eggs made just right. Meh. Well this place has coffee in the name so I am thinking it's known for their coffee. Thought I would grab an iced beverage real quick before I get back to work. This place was packed... because a lot of people were here to grab lunch! Fine, I don't mind..catch up on text messages while I wait to get my iced drink. I saw a NItro on the menu, so I asked a lady what it was - from what I gathered it's like an iced coffee but more flavor - when it's good quality coffee then I like more coffee bean flavor where you don't even need sweetener or added milk. So I tried that - The lady in front of me got lunch and I heard the cashier tell her it was their bday and they are giving doughnuts or a slice of banana bread if she would like one. But I wasn't offered this - maybe because I only purchased a coffee? But - a baked good w/ a coffee matches just as perfect as a lunch and dessert... Oh well - no baked good for me. I tried the $4.50 drink I just purchased, and yes it had that flavor.... but not my style. I had to come back to the office and add some milk to mine. I wouldn't recommend this place.... but maybe it's good for lunch!? I just don't think i will make my way there to try it again.... read more

Fully loaded coffee shop in the financial district. Coffee is the cornerstone and scrumptious breakfast bites/sweets are the bonus. Rotating brews from the US and Canada make the daily coffee a little more interesting. For breakfast, the overnight oats are sweet with a nice cinnamon kick. The breakfast slider with egg, bacon and mustard is a great choice, but even better the smoked salmon sandwich is super rich! For dessert, the brownies are chocolatey and wonderful, pumpkin cake bursting with flavour and pastries are buttery heaven. My favorite coffee place in the Financial District...so far. It's a great place to meet with hip industrial decor, high ceilings and a variety of seating options. Nice logo and branding. You order at the counter but if you're dining in they'll give you a table number. I go here for the oat milk lattes. They've got a variety of snacks (including lamingtons!) and fancy toasts and such, but I'm yet to try. On occasion I found the oat milk wasn't quite hot enough. I've started asking for extra hot and it's been fine since then. They lose a star for two reasons: 1) It's pricey. An oat milk latte is over $6 and even more with a tip. 2) The loyalty card is double sided so employees have stamped on both. Does it take twice as long to get a free one then? I tried downloading their app but I didn't *get it* and thus deleted. read more

Comfy place to chill and enjoy drinks and goodies. I have to say... this is my favorite place for almond croissants!!! Hot cocoa, coffee and latte are all good. They changed their banana bread and I am DEVASTATED. You used to be able to get this huge chunk of banana bread with a candied banana across the top, but they replaced it with smaller slices with sugary topping. It's ok but doesn't touch those huge slices. Other than that I have no complaints, I'll obviously keep coming! read more

This Aussie cafe opened one block from my apt back in last year and quickly became the hot spot for Wall Streeters as well as people living in the hood. The space is modern and welcoming. Perfect to catch up with friend or just take a coffee break . They have oat milk and almond milk in addition to cows milk. Only wish they got soy as well :/ They made damn good latte :) $6 a pop , expensive but worth the splurge once in a while . read more

Came here with my laptop to work. Paid $9.25 for a simple, no frills vanilla latte. Asked about wifi, which apparently they do not have. They got snappy with me, probably from having to defend their company culture which makes zero sense. Not sure why anyone would come to a coffee shop in FiDi during working hours if not to work- it's a large space with lots of nice seating and a total waste. Responding to owner's comment: I did not get a large, I got some drink that was sitting on the counter that no one bothered to label or call out by name (even though I was standing by the bar). It was room temp and it did not taste like vanilla. I assume this is a convivial gathering spot for trust fund baby hipsters who can afford $10 bucks for a coffee and have no boss to report to. Must be nice! Sadly cannot afford the coffee or the disconnect. Too bad because if the staff were friendlier, it really is a cute place. read more

Extremely gassed and overpriced. I'm a resident and constantly walk by and the smells from the coffee along with the food being made is always very welcoming but when you get inside and order 1) employees seem uninterested and look like they are at a social gathering rather than working 2) they make you feel rushed to place your order 3) their menu is unclear and doesn't specify what each plate constitutes in its entirety so if your order something be prepared for a surprise 4) they do not know how to follow instructions and WILL mess up your order (even though their menu is "small") and last but not least and again I cannot stress this enough it is way too overpriced for the stuff they actually offer. I recently tried one of their egg sandwiches and a hot small chocolate and it came to a total of almost $40 dollars, that is ridiculous. I gave it three chances before I left a review because I know somedays are just a bad day but after the third chance of trying it out on top of it being overpriced there was nothing special about it. Updating this for my last weeks experience. I stayed at Mint House for three days this week visiting this establishment each morning. The first morning they messed up my order, no problem, things happen. Second morning I send my husband down warning him to please stress our very uncomplicated order was messed up the day before and to please have it right. . . NOPE! Clearly, that was too much to ask. The staff was not apologetic in the least and again screwed up the order. Third morning I walk down and ask for a large cappuccino with a shot of espresso. I stood there and watched the guy make it wrong, pointed out that it wasn't a size small and needed an extra shot. The woman working there poured my drink in a large cup and steamed more milk and that was her "fix". This was the last straw. I will walk my happy butt up the block and grab Dunkin Doughnuts from now on. The staff went from being "mostly helpful" to can't get anything right even when politely reminded. They are rude and despite being a somewhat regular who tips generously despite horrible service, you'd think their attitude could be somewhere in the friendly spectrum. read more

One word folks. Wait, actually two. Almond Croissant! Please excuse me while I stuff my face and type this review. The crumbs of the croissant and deliciousness of the frangipani might inhibit my vocabulary, but oh my god! Where was this delectable melt-in-the-mouth croissant all my life, that has totally ruined my morning exercise routine?! (And sans any of that gack fake almond essence that makes me gag every time! I have been waiting to try black fox for almost a year, it was simply too far away from me! So today I'm more than happy to run here and eventually got a taste of their famous flat white. Probably due to the fact that I was sitting inside rather than grabbing to go, my coffee was really foamy and the latte art well-drawn. The balance was also quite right, that I first discovered a bit of bitterness while left with sweetness afterwards. This special combination completely took charge of my tastebuds and I was left fully convinced. Loved each single sip of it! I would have to make sure that I come back sometime future, just to have a difference experience of their latte, or even espresso. In my opinion, a good coffee shop simply brews coffee; while an outstanding one tries to attach their coffee with emotion. Black fox certainly belongs to the latter and I hope to see more of it! The "capers" was actually one large caper cut in half. Latte arrived a few minutes after the food which I think may have been intentional (it was hot and pretty good). A new cozy and local coffee shop in FiDi! It is a love-at-first-sight/sip coffee place for me. The high ceiling, big space, wood interior, and big windows are nice pluses! Barista warmly welcomes you upon entrance. I got an almond flat white to-go (although I would really love to hang out and spend more time here!). I appreciate the fact that baristas spend time making you a nice latte art even though you ordered it to-go! One sip, I can taste passion in it! it is very fruity (citrus taste?), rich, foamy with nice chocolaty/nutty aroma. That was not it... The after taste is sweet, which is similar to how good teas make you feel sweet but not thirsty in the end. Highly recommend this nice coffee shop for coffee lovers/meeting/friends gathering. Overall, I'm very pleased with Black Fox Coffee. The coffee is actually exceptional, in my opinion. For a minute I felt like I was back in Seattle, where the coffee is unmatched. This is not a chain starbucks type establishment. The coffee is, however, very expensive for the size, as are the food and pastries. I've only tried the almond croissant so far, and it was absolutely divine. Why minus one star? The first three times I came in, they didn't have any croissants or cookies left. Finally this most recent time I was able to get one. Also, the baristas and the girls at the register are not friendly. A smile or a "how are you" would go a long way. UPDATE: Today I went back and my latte was actually a normal size! Before they were giving the lattes in what looked like tiny espresso shot cups. Perhaps they have now fixed this. UPDATE 2: Recently I went in for another coffee and had a casual chat with one of the workers. I mentioned that the chocolate chip cookie I'd had during my last visit was really dry/hard and I wasn't sure that I wanted to try it again. As I was about to depart with coffee in hand the worker ran up to me with a complimentary cookie to make up for my last experience. What great service! read more

There are a lot of coffee shops in the area, this might be my new favorite choice. My husband is a coffee drinker and I'm all about matcha, Black Fox is one of the few that does both well! Also, I highly recommend their homemade nut milk. I was skeptical at first (like ok are you just trying to rip me off and use some Trader Joe's almond milk up in here??) but it really does taste like a mix of nuts without being overpowering. I prefer my drinks "to stay" here as there is a lot of seating but they also have to-go cups. Gotta day the but milk is better hot and fresh in my opinion. read more
