The newest BR in AZ! Black Rock has been a long time fav being that we are from Oregon where they first started. BUT this location is different from their other ones since they remodeled a building already their. Great drive-thru that wraps around their entire building, awesome location (near my house AND on the way to work)! There wasn't a BR super close in this area so it'll do amazing off of Tatum & Thunderbird Rd. Coffee: we get their lattes and they are smooth and delicious! Try a caramel blonde or blackout! The inside is modern, fun with upbeat music, and has heavy wooden tables & chairs. Today the garage doors were open to the patio and there is plenty of seating. The drive-thru is fast and the staff are well-trained and rocking their first week with customers! When it gets busy they have staff taking orders in the line to speed up the process. I like the fact that black rock offers sugar free mocha, but I can't get anyone to ever come meet me at this location for a cup of coffee because it's so darned loud . They haven't updated their information on Yelp in a while because they say staff wears masks (not any more) and "moderate" noise. There's nothing moderate about the music here, which is too bad. I'd love to stop by more often but I'm sitting in a very comfortable chair with noise cancelling headphones on and not only can't I hear the video I'm trying to listen to, but the noise is so loud that the bass tones are making the chair and the floor beneath my feet bounce. I'd prefer this noise level at a concert or maybe a dance party, not a coffee shop. This is not the first time I've noticed (and other friends)... like I said, my friends refuse to come here any more, because after asking. Staff to turn down the music they still couldn't hear each other talk. Needless to say, the types of people who would sit along to work are also kind of few and far between because it's hard to concentrate and get any work done when the music is this loud.... Which means there's usually plenty of place to sit... It's a shame that a coffee location that's been recently created to be so cute, is only really good for drive thru/takeout. read more

So good! This place is fun, upbeat and has great drinks! I was so impressed by there opening day procedures... the drive through line was moving, the employees were friendly and taking orders at the front and payments before the drink window. Surprised this past Sunday was my first time trying black rock coffee! Ordered my husband and I some drinks through Grubhub. I got an almond milk Mexican chocolate latte and got my husband a salted caramel latte. They were here on time and good! My only complaint was that my latte was good but didn't have any Mexican chocolate flavor, it just tasted like a plain latte. Didn't even really taste chocolatey. Walked in and wasn't greeted by anyone. Was looking at the menu and ultimately decided on a cold brew with some vanilla syrup. Stood at the counter for almost 5 minutes while multiple employees were standing around doing nothing and looked right at me waiting. Finally, I said,"excuse me" to a lady and she came right over and apologized for the wait. She took our order, answered our questions, and gave us our order. Given that this was not just another cancerous Starbucks on the street corner, I decided to give this coffee bar a shot. Not only was it new (as of this review it is two months old) but also provides as an opportunity to try something new and unique. Suffice to say I was not disappointed in the slightest. The atmosphere is comfortable and even homey, with a wooden interior mixed with tile, modern architecture and lighting. The mural art on the right corner is even easy on the eyes, with it's palette of black, red, blue, white and green, capturing the essence of the Copper State in terms of the natural, indigenous and Western. I ordered a hot Blackout, which is a combination of Hazelnut and Mocha, and when I first tasted the coffee, the sweet blend of cocoa was welcoming. I had been instantly hooked to the excellent quality of the craft. It's something I never thought I needed, yet there it was, waiting to be tested and tried. Like the rule I implemented - if the quality is great, I will not complain of the price, and with them asking for five dollars for a medium-sized Blackout, it had been worth every penny. In fact it's so delicious that I ordered another cup, and normally I don't drink two cups in a day. Then I spread the word to my mother, who she and her manager wanted the same as I was having, and even they were not disappointed. The employees appreciated the business in the meantime, always being level headed and content with the patronage. This review is my first impression, and they have delivered premium. I'm happy to say that I will return here, and I highly recommend anyone to give this bar a try. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. read more

At first I was excited to see a Black Rock in the area but not as much after my first visit; in fact, I will not return. 1- Clueless help - a solid 2 minutes we spent looking for an item to ring into the POS. The result was a lost sale because I opted not to make the purchase after getting dizzy watching the cashiers finger getting a frantic workout searching for the BAI Super Tea. 2- Zero value - my double espresso $3.47 (cost $2.47 + $1.00 practically mandated tip). After giving them the benefit of the doubt by making sure that I was poured a double, the suuposed double was a laughable one sip. 3- Appearance - while the shop was nicely laid out in and out, staff presentation was poor and badly dressed. We've tried several coffee drinks at this new Black Rock Coffee location now, including Americanos, Chillers, iced lattes, and cold brews. All have been good, but one thing to keep in mind is that the sweet drinks tend to be very sweet, so don't be afraid to ask for it "half sweet" if you want to taste the coffee and avoid a sugar coma! That said, the coffee is good, the environment is welcoming and bright (though not especially quiet, of course), and the staff have been helpful and seem willing to get your drink right. We learned that the iced espresso drinks have two shots for both a small and a medium, three shots for a large, and four shots for an extra large. This means that a medium (20 ounces) is not going to have as strong of a coffee taste as the other sizes. Consider adding an extra shot unless you just don't care. The Chillers (their frozen drinks) are really delicious, so try one if you'd like something much better than a Starbucks Frappuccino. Most recently, I tried a drink they had on special, the Honeybee Cold Brew. I'm glad to say it lived up to the name, with a unique honey taste that was noticeably there. While it would never be my go-to drink, I think it is perfect for what it is, and if you like honey and coffee, you're going to love it. You can sip your drinks inside near the electric fireplace or outside the roll-up garage-style doors on the patio. They also have a drive-thru. We're impressed enough to keep coming back, especially since we are frequently up and down Tatum for shopping and are glad to have another coffee option when we're needing some "fuel" when on the go. read more

I bought a large coffee with cream a week ago Thursday morning at about 5:50 AM. There was at least 2 teaspoons of coffee grounds in the bottom. I was driving and got a mouthful of coffee grounds and had no way to rinse my mouth. Disappointed that there would be so many grounds in my coffee. You can't call this restaurant and you have to text. I have texted twice about the situation with absolutely no response. I hate giving a bad review until I've given management a chance to make it right. Apparently they don't care about their customers. Another issue is that the drive-through early in the morning doesn't allow you to order in advance of the payment window. so you are sitting behind people who have big orders or complicated orders just to get a cup of coffee. I don't quite understand this. And I certainly don't understand Management's failure to respond. read more

I usually go here at least once a week and either get a peach mango iced green tea or a peppermint oat milk hot cocoa. I love how you can easily order a drink with half the sweetness and light ice- no grumbling from the staff here! The inside has a great cafe vibe and I enjoy sitting on the patio when it's nice out. The only downside is the iced tea isn't always made the same- sometimes it really isn't good at all but they never have a problem remaking it or checking the batch when that happens. read more

I love the coffee here and the sugar free choices of flavored syrups are wonderful. The problem is that all of their milk alternatives have sugar. This could be remedied by purchasing unsweetened milk alternatives but that have not done that. They also do not have cream for their coffee, only half and half.
