The vibe is upscale but comfortable--grown, sexy, and perfect for date night, catching up with friends, or just treating yourself. I started with six raw oysters and six charbroiled oysters, then added the Creole ribs. Everything was outstanding. Fresh oysters, perfectly seasoned charbroiled oysters, and ribs packed with Louisiana flavor. One of the coolest features is the large tree growing through the middle of the circular bar. It gives the restaurant so much character. Next time I'm grabbing a seat at the bar and ordering one of their mocktails just to enjoy the atmosphere. As someone from Louisiana, I especially appreciate that Blake brought authentic Louisiana flavors to Atlanta. Having gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice, oysters, and all those New Orleans classics right here in my neighborhood feels like home. Needless to say, I'll be back often. What a great spot for the south side! The restaurant had great curb appeal and the indoor aesthetic was so cute! Our server was Ari who was absolutely amazing and super attentive. We tried the charbroiled oysters which were flavorful, but very saucy. I personally don't prefer a lot of sauce/toppings on my oysters but at least it was tasty. We also tried the lobster bites (bomb), dirty rice, gumbo, and crawfish egg rolls (bomb). I would skip the gumbo and just go for the dirty rice - so good and flavorful. Please don't skip the egg rolls!! Omg they were so delicious and had the perfect amount of filling. The decor is cute, our server had a great personality, and everyone there seemed to be having a good time. We ordered the crab fingers, chargrilled oysters, and the fried shrimp and oyster plate. T the manager on duty was awesome and the vibes are great here. We sat at the bar and the music was top tier but not too loud where you couldn't hear someone next to you. Color me surprised! I have been trying to make it to Blake's forever but the parking lot/parking situation would scare me away. Knowing this, I ask my best friend that is in town visiting to meet me at 2pm on a Sunday, before the church crowd got there. Best decision ever lol. How is the food, you might ask? IT SLAPPED! So I am not much of an oyster girl. But my significant other couldn't make it to join us and I knew he would ask how the oysters were so I found an option on the menu that married all of my wants: chargrilled oysters, fish and shrimp platter! Note that all of their platters come with fries-you can sub for a different side but you will pay. The fries were good though and so was the rest of my food! The portions were large enough to have plenty of leftovers to go home with. A lot of people talk about the price points but honestly for what I got plus a drink I didn't do half bad. I was literally stalking their IG for the opening date since the first time I heard they were opening. I've been there 3 times now and I love the food. I usually get the chargrilled oysters and the oyster po'boy. Whatever that sauce is on the chargrilled oysters needs to be bottled. I was happy they gave me bread because I needed to sop up whatever was left of that sauce after I ate the oysters. The oyster po'boy has perfectly fried oysters but they definitely need to add more remoulade. I always ask for more on the side because what they put on the bread is very little. This comes from someone who is not heavily into sauces. Just an FYI, this place is not exactly cheap. My 6 oysters, sandwich, iced tea plus tip came to about $60. So this restaurant shares a wall with BOSK & a lot with a gas station, but it's decorated very nicely. It has indoor & outdoor seating but it is a tiny bit cramped (we also came on a Friday night so it might not always be like that). We had a reservation & although we were a little late, they still accommodated us. The server was real nice and helpful, answering all our questions and was very attentive. The food was good, however I will say everything was extremely saucy. The sauces used had good flavor, but it was hard to taste the actual food with the sauce overpowering everything. My table tried the Oyster Rockefeller (yes), the Crab Fingers (drowned in sauce & the "fingers" were baby blue crabs-- so tiny), the Mac & Cheese (real good but very saucy -- Lobster Mac isn't really worth it for the amount of lobster vs price difference), NY Strip (comes with one side & although the taste was good, I asked for medium rare & got borderline medium well/well done so it was a bit tough), & Beignets (they were good, but taste nothing like authentic beignets. They were very crunchy & coated in cinnamon sugar, then dusted with powdered sugar. Very sweet but good). My hubby and I visited this establishment on August 1st, and we were genuinely looking forward to the experience. Before our visit, I had read many positive reviews and reviewed the menu online. My hubby was especially excited to try the Loaded Bloody Mary. Upon arriving, the first thing I noticed was how crowded the parking lot was. Parking was extremely limited, which essentially forced guests to use valet parking. When we entered the restaurant, there was seating outside, but the inside was very small, crowded, and uncomfortably hot. The bar area was packed, and every seat in the common dining area was occupied. I briefly considered leaving at that point, but since we had driven approximately 45 minutes to get there, I decided to stay and give it a chance. I approached the woman at the front desk, who I assumed was the hostess. Unfortunately, she did not greet us. I asked how long the wait time would be, and she told me there was no set wait time and that we would be seated when someone got up from their table. When I asked if there was a wait list, she replied that there was and instructed me to add my name and phone number, which I did at approximately 7:00 PM. The biggest issue was that there was no designated waiting area. Guests were standing in the entrance doorway waiting to be seated, creating congestion at the front of the restaurant. My hubby and I moved to the back near the wine display and waited there. By 7:30 PM, we still had not received any updates regarding our place on the list or an estimated wait time. After standing for 30 minutes with no communication, we decided to leave. The owner of this establishment needs to address several concerns: Crowd Management and Safety: Having guests stand in the entrance while waiting for tables creates a potential safety issue and blocks the flow of traffic entering and exiting the restaurant. Ventilation and Comfort: The airflow inside the restaurant was poor. Many guests were visibly fanning themselves because of the heat, making the environment very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning, nor would I recommend this establishment to others. Customer service, communication, comfort, and crowd management all need significant improvement. Let me add I am still waiting for the text to let me know a table is ready. Because it's in a plaza, parking is plentiful, and valet is available during certain hours. As soon as you walk in, you're transported into a forest-like atmosphere, complete with a stunning imitation tree behind the bar -- trunk, branches, leaves, and all. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and the garage-style doors make it easy to convert the space into an open indoor-outdoor experience during warmer months. For cooler weather, heaters are available for outdoor seating. We were greeted by several pleasant staff members and seated right away. Our server, Anna, was friendly and took great care of us. We arrived during the lunch special, where select small plates are offered for $10. Five star service and food!!! Everything was great and the restaurant is a VIBE!!! Came for lunch on a Thursday and the restaurant was filling up quick. This is clearly a go to lunch spot for professionals during the week. The music was great and not too loud so you can enjoy your conversation. I especially liked the hostesses!! Super cute restaurant on the southside equipped with bar and outdoor seating. I went during a weekday around lunch and it had decent crowd which let me know the food must be pretty good. I opted to take my food to go and was directed to order at the bar. As for the service experience, overall it was a bit frustrating. The bartender, Raneca, was very friendly, which I appreciated. However, there was a significant issue with the payment process. After placing my to-go order, I noticed she didn't take my payment right away. When my food arrived, I tried to get her attention to pay, but instead, I had to alert another bartender. She was kind enough to fetch Raneca for me, but instead of processing my payment, Raneca sat my check in front of me and walked away, leaving me sitting there for nearly 10 minutes without being charged all while my food is getting cold. In that time, I attempted to catch Raneca's attention again, but she was too busy attending to other tasks. Finally, the other bartender passed my card to Raneca while she was at the POS, checking out another customer. Instead of charging my card right then, she set it aside and continued to check in on other guests and perform various tasks. At one point, Raneca walked by me and started to wash glasses from the bar and I was so frustrated that I decided to leave the food behind and just get my card back. I asked the other bartender to retrieve my card, and when she checked, she saw it still hadn't been charged. I could hear Raneca respond, "I'm trying to take care of this; we're both busy," which was disappointing given the situation. On the brighter side, the food was enjoyable. The catfish with the white beans and rice were delicious and for $10 during their lunch special a really good deal. However, the oyster po' boy was a letdown; it had only four oysters making it hard to appreciate their flavor. The marmalade was tasty though. While I appreciate the friendly staff, the payment process needs significant improvement to enhance the dining experience. So last night we tried Blake's Oyster Bar. So, I want to start by saying that I don't know what I was expecting before going. I had seen the restaurant on Instagram, which led me to visit the location. When I walked in, the space was smaller than I'd anticipated, but everyone was welcoming and friendly. Although there wasn't anyone at the host podium right away, as soon as the doors opened, the staff approached us and seated us almost immediately. The service was excellent -- I have no complaints. We felt well taken care of and heard, and the recommendations they provided were truly helpful. Blake's offers an excellent music selection, with a well-curated playlist that contributes significantly to the overall atmosphere. I ordered the stuffed Branzino with roasted potatoes and sautéed spinach. The fish was tasty, although it wasn't stuffed in the traditional way I expected--it seemed like crab cake filling was placed on top rather than inside the fish. The potatoes and spinach lacked flavor, and I didn't enjoy either side. However, the fish was well seasoned, though I found the stuffing unappealing since it just resembled crab cake mix cooked on top. I also tried the crab cake appetizer, which was excellent--it had more crab than filler, and came with a flavorful sauce. My companion had the redfish entrée, which he found delicious. Although the sauce was a bit salty, he enjoyed his meal overall. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the cut of redfish was thick, fully cooked, and very satisfying. He also noted that the oysters were delicious, and he ordered the Oyster Rockefeller. I also wanted to mention that the drinks here were amazing. Everything that we tried was tasty. My experience initially started off rough, but ended on a high note thanks to the bartender Ambrose. I saw a special they were advertising for $1.26 chargrilled oysters for New Year's Day on TikTok. I love a good deal, so my friend and I decided to go. I made reservations prior on open table. I arrived early and noticed how packed it was. The restaurant is in a small shopping plaza next to a gas station and another restaurant. People were literally piling out of the door as I made my way to the hostess stand. When I inquired about my reservation, I was informed that reservations wouldn't be honored and that they attempted to call some people to cancel reservations. I never received a call and did not observe anything on the TikTok post that stated reservations wouldn't be honored, so I asked to speak to a manager. After expressing my frustration with the situation, the manager informed me that she would seat me shortly. I was standing near the bar and luckily 2 seats opened, so I grabbed those. Ambrose greeted me promptly. To begin, I ordered a kiwi lemon drop. To eat, I ordered the chargrilled oysters, gumbo and the crab claws. The crab claws were good, but the portion was small. The gumbo was decent. I wish they served it in a bowl instead of the shallow dish it arrived on. The oysters were delicious. For my second cocktail, I ordered a French 75 with Hennessy. It was superb! I truly appreciate the awesome customer service from Ambrose. The average drink is around $18 and most menu items were overpriced. So we went back to the host but now another young lady was there and we told her we had a reservation at 8 she then told me it's 8:13 and we have a 10 minute grace period.... I should've walked out at that moment but my husband calmly told her we had already checked in with the other lady. The original host did get us seated. Restaurant is small but cute. Menu is limited. I remember when the owner was first setting up this spot. It was a late night, and I had just left the place next door. As someone who's worked in the food industry, I understand the grind, so I said a quick prayer and wished the business well. I was back in the area today and decided to finally stop in. I want to come back here and try this again. It looked really good on social, but I felt this place was very overpriced for what was provided. Drinks were $17-24 and were not strong, and the appetizers were the price of entrees. I know it's a new restaurant but charging such high prices with a beat up paper menu is mismatched. The shrimp po boy was a great size but not well dressed. As someone who has spent a lot of time In New Orleans and has family there, I have had a lot of po boys in my life. I had to ask for extra remolaude , which actually was the best part of the meal. The shrimp was good too, and the bread was good but could have been toasted better. Service was pretty good despite a few hiccups and the venue itself is very pretty inside. I'd love to return for the Monday oysters because we paid $24 for 6 oysters which is crazy. Blake's Oyster Bar was a really good experience. I had the fried shrimp, chargrilled oysters, and Brussels sprouts, and everything was flavorful and well prepared. My friend had the fried fish with chargrilled oysters and enjoyed it too. The lemon drops were also very good. What really stood out was the overall vibe. The ambience was great, the customer service was on point, and the patio seating made the whole experience even better. This was our First time here! The Oyster were good but the crab fingers were . The shrimp was very tasty as well. The catfish and fried lobster wasn't really seasoned that well. However, over all is worth coming back. The place looked amazing the atmosphere was very warm and friendly. We had a Great Service from Deshawn he was friendly gave good recommendations, he really took good care of us! I would for sure come back and try other things. read more
