OBSESSED with this place. It's a staple for me and my mom whenever we go shopping at La Encantada. They have great food and drinks as well as service that always goes above and beyond. Previously I had given Blanco 5 stars, but they have changed the menu and a few other things resulting in a lower rating now. We ordered beef and chicken fajitas- the beef were incredibly tender and delicious. The chicken was essentially grilled chicken with hot sauce on top, nothing like a fajita and rather disappointing. The queso appetizer was still good, but I wouldn't come just for that. We got the "mi casa su casa" drink special - 4 small margaritas and a bucket of beer. The margaritas were dropped off with salt and limes which made no sense since the cups were full. Everything that was dropped off was also never followed up with a "anything else?" It almost seemed like it was a race to get away from every table. Previously I had said we would definitely be back, now I'm not so sure. This is a great place to grab Mexican food! The area is great and the patio was the perfect place to sit today! Everyone really enjoyed the food, we bought a queso "bob Armstrong" style and finished it before we could even snap a picture of it. First, the view!!!! We were thrilled that Blanco was not insanely busy due to the holidays. We were further shocked when we got prime patio seating. Yay! And it was happy hour. Double yay!!! We ordered margaritas (apple cider for me and traditional for him) as well the dip trio. Our service was fast, but not rushed. The appetizer was a good size, and quite tasty (queso, guacamole, and a smooth charro bean). Our entrees were equally good - he went with the happy hour soft tacos, and I chose the short rib enchiladas. Both dishes were absolutely perfect! The short rib was succulent and tender, and the enchiladas are stacked, not rolled. The beans and rice were very tasty, as well. And, back to the view. Service was beyond bad. We had to wait for a table even after having reservations. All the while 5 other tables we seated as they arrived after us I had a 3 top. Then after waiting they sat us in a table off the main deck in breezeway of the mall outside it's 105 outside! This is we're you should seat guest with no reservations or not at all. Then no drink order nothing. Then start dragging tables from the breezeway where we sitting into the cool areas under misters for others coming in 10 minutes after being sat. This is a pretty upscale type place. The food I ordered was very well prepared. Not a very big menu and not that great of a selection. I guess I would consider it to be americanized Mexican food. Don't get me wrong, the dishes all look very tasty and the ones I was able to try, definitely fit that mold. The service was pretty good too. Part of what makes me say it is americanized, is the price. I mean, no matter how it is prepared, a carne asada burrito shouldn't cost you over 20 bucks. Here it is about 18, before tip. I don't drink, so maybe that's it. I just don't have any reason to go back here. If I'm craving mexican food, I'm not just gonna want to go pay 3 to 4 times the price of other places. I ate here for lunch with my family today and the experience was not the best. I don't know what was up with our waitress, but she could use some additional training. After she took her our order we did not see her again for over an hour. I flagged down another waitress to let her know so we could get our bill to leave. When she did come, she asked if our food came yet and I explained someone else brought it out and we were done awhile ago. Thankfully, none of us wanted a second drink while sitting outside. Earlier in the experience, another waitress brought our drinks and when she did, her tray tipped and beer for another customer want all over our table and the ground. She never apologized or said anything; I think she was embarrassed. I am a fan of the Fox Restaurant Concepts, and was disappointed with the service as no one asked how everything was tasting or if we needed anything. It just seemed that our waitress didn't care about us nor her job. On the positive side, the food was excellent and the views sitting outside are hard to beat. Was really wanting chicken nachos. I know why buy them when you can make them but they would never be this good. Due to the craziness going on, my order was for take out. With the Catalina Foothills as the patio backdrop, this was one of my favorite spots while in AZ for a week. We had the nachos con queso blanco for an appetizer and they were soooo good!! Everyone had various drinks and we were all happy. I had the hibiscus margarita and had to have another... For dinner I got the braised short rib and avocado crisp. It's basically a thin crust flat bread. It was bigger than I was expecting, but also packed big taste. The sides were great as well. The street corn was my favorite but the beans ran a close second and I tend to not really like charro beans. Our waitress was really tentative and did a wonderful job with making suggestions. In all fairness I am working my way through every Mexican restaurant in Tucson and haven gotten through about 15 places in the last 60 days - I regret having to give Blanco a solid 3 (But you're are not alone, Seis will also be earning a 3 in a few moments based on my lunch on 11/23/2021). No beers on tap - canned / bottled beer selection a bit pedestrian. Service was decent. Food was just right of average. While there were a lot of people here - I believe the majority of people like 'Americanized' Mexican food. These are not authentic street tacos, and the personality / flavors left me a little wanting - to include the puréed salsa which was average. Ordered two Sentinel Peak beers (in a can), and the BBQ Pork and Corn Cheese Crisp which was ok. Again decent, but not 'wowed'. Part of the challenge for Blanco - there are SO MANY authentic / incredible Mexican spots in Tucson - so going with a 3! read more

Currently, the restaurant is seating people at 50% capacity to accommodate for COVID-19. They are also encouraging online ordering by offering 50% off alcohol beverages. At a glance, the ambience of the restaurant is modern and hip. Perfect for post-work happy hour with colleagues seeing as how they have a happy hour menu from 3-6pm (I definitely want to come for this because I'm all about lower prices on food and drinks). Service was great - our server was very attentive and gave us endless chips and salsa and water. Food was alright, in my opinion. I love authentic Mexican food more than I do fusion Mexican, and the food at Blanco is not as traditional. The Pork Child Verde I ordered had a creamy corn flavor to the rice and the rest of the toppings didn't taste like anything special (not meaning it was bad). The pork Chile verde was on the saltier side and I started eating it with chips because I ran out of rice to complement the saltiness. Overall, I would come back to the restaurant because of the beautiful view overlooking Tucson. And I love that it was roomy enough to accommodate our group. Came here for some drinks and a bite to eat. Both of which were up to par! The atmosphere is beautiful and chill. The drinks are good and served in nice Mexican glasses. The food is definitely not anything resembling authentic Mexican but I also wasn't expecting this as the restaurant is tucked in an upscale shopping center in the foothills. Really liked this place! Our group of six stopped by for dinner around 8 o'clock on a Saturday night, and the wait for our table was only about 10 minutes. Their patio is spacious with a nice view of Tucson. The chips and salsa were pretty good--salty but paired perfectly with a sweet cocktail. All of our drinks, from the skinny margarita to various ales, were fresh and delicious. Personally, I loved the chicken tortilla soup! So glad I ordered this. Ate the whole bowl. New menu everyone! That was kind of exciting. But my favorite is still there - - - fresh juice sangria. I never can decide which I like better the red or the white and now they have sparkling sangria as well. They also have fresh juice margaritas. My partner had a hibiscus Margarita which was quite tangy and sour. Now for the critique: the food was fresh and the service was great, however the happy hour tacos are quite tiny (see pics). The salad was fresh enough, but still the condiment serving's were quite small. Gone are all the goodies that were on the old menu happy hour menu like the guacamole and ceviche. Even the salsa has changed. But it's still fresh, I think I still like the older one better. If you get here early enough, you might just grab a seat at the edge of their patio. From there you can see the whole city which is quite lovely and worth the trip. The price for a meal is decent enough in the waitresses keep you full of chips and salsa. I'll certainly come back especially for happy hour... But even more for the $5 sangria and margarita specials. (Ask and they'll bring you out a taste of each so you can make a decision too!)
