It tasted like straight up hazelnut creamer from Costco lol which is usually not the flavor profile of Viet coffee. Love supporting smaller coffee shop in the Spectrum center. This spot is located right by Target and the kids play structure. Ever time that I've come I've had a good drink. The mango delight green tea is always my go to drink here. I used to get the matcha green tea with oat milk. I was unaware that there was milk powder in the matcha powder. Overall this is a really cool spot if you're wanting to branch out from Starbucks! The staff is always super cool here too! Very friendly and always suggesting me new drinks to try. read more

I've been to one other location of BLKdot and ordered the mojito coffee. It was fabulous. This time I decided to switch it up and try something different. The girl at the register suggested the matcha frappe. And of course it had whipped cream on top, so I had to get it. I figured I really wasn't having lunch, so this yummyness would be enough. Lol. Sure enough, my first sip was heaven. Tasted like Benihana green tea ice cream in a blended drink version. Pure. Tasty. Matcha. So good. I'm hooked. Oh and by the way, I got the oat milk instead of regular milk. It was a hefty $1.00 extra (a bit pricey for an add on to me), but it tasted awesome. BLKdot Coffee is inside the Spectrum shopping center, near 85 bakery. I got the BLK'nd Mojito, which is basically a minty coffee drink. The drink was pretty good, slightly minty (not as minty as Mint Mojito from Philz), but a good substitute. The drink wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, but also not bitter at all. My boyfriend got the Black Vietnamese Coffee, and the coffee was really creamy and delicious (but much on the sweeter side). I think I would prefer the Black Vietnamese Coffee over the BLK'nd Mojito, but that's just my preference. If you get light ice, they do not fill it to the top, but that's fine 'cause I never like my coffee diluted. Inside the store is small, but they do have some tables outside. The employees were all wearing masks, so that's good. This place definitely seems like it has potential to serve really great coffee, but I was shockingly disappointed when I received my VTM (Vietnamese) Tiger drink. I saw reviews pointing to their VTM being a specialty, but I figured it would be very sweet. So when I asked for half sweet I received the drink with tons of syrup on the bottom and man was this drink TOO sweet. It was extremely sweet, so much so that I felt bloated and sick for almost the entire night. Sure I could have returned it or simply not have drank it, but the place was extremely busy. I got my drink fast but it was suspicious- made me think they had the drink on deck to just hand out (which wouldn't have had my modifications on it) Overall the service was okay- cashier seemed anxious because of how incredibly busy it was- but I have a feeling my modifications weren't met and I did not want to make it worse by waiting who knows how long for it to be fixed. I've been here twice in the last year. The first time I got an Americano Iced and did not even finish it as it was too acidic and strong. This time I tried the teas. I got the Lychee Peach Black Iced Tea. I loved the jelly lychee texture and asked for 2 pumps of peach sweetener since I don't like mine too sweet. It was perfect! The customer service was great and fast. The first cashier was busy when my friend and I walked in and within seconds a guy pops out and offers to help us. I was very disappointed in the customer service and attitude of the person making my drink, I asked for less ice for my iced Vietnamese coffee and after paying almost 7 dollars for a drink , I asked why my drink was filled only halfway with a lot of ice still He said we pre-measure our drinks and if it weren't for asking for less ice , the whole cup would be full of ice and the drink would be poured over a cup full of ice etc etc I told him that I would be complaining to the manager and very rudely he said "GO FOR IT !" With a smirk ! What kind of training did this individual receive to speak to a paying customer like this ? BLKdot really does not want you to sleep. If they existed near UCSD, I probably would've graduated with a higher GPA but oh well... Their iced Vietnamese is NO JOKE! It is strong and you should definitely avoid chugging it. I know, it's hard. They got that perfect milk and coffee ratio that you can't stop sipping. Trust me, slow down unless you want to feel the energy of a thousand suns and your heart beating like the bass track on a Major Lazer record. Let the ice melt, enjoy it, make it last. For the record, I only took small sips driving back down to San Diego and saved the rest for the next day. I got home and the ice hasn't melted. I shoved it in the fridge and took a sip the next day. It tasted milder but still amazing! With 5 hours of sleep, a body destroyed by the weekend and a stressful Monday, their Vietnamese coffee held me together. I've been to all of the BlkDot locations in OC and they're all consistently the same: good coffee, decent pastries, acceptable service. They're usually pretty busy though so I'm not expecting some existential conversation, but a smile would be nice (but again, they're usually busy so cut them some slack). A solid 4 stars as is with all their locations. I think I gave the one at Google 5 stars because they actual engage with customers but I might be wrong. My memory sucks. Ever since this coffee shop moved to spectrum, I frequent here for my morning fix of uber-strong coffee. The coffee here is STRONG. The coffee will definitely keep you up at night if you're not used to strong coffee Vietnamese coffee. Who needs sleep when you can just have more coffee? I suggest the VTM or LVTM as the only options to go. I've experimented with their other options like the milk tea, thai tea, mint mojito, etc and they were gross to say the least. Their coffee is so smooth! I know others like the Vietnamese coffee and some of their other drinks. I just really love their hot oat milk latte and get that every time. I did try their avocado toast and it was simple and yummy. Even when this place is busy, somehow they get the clearings out pretty fast with still showing love to each drink. I did not expect to find a Vietnamese coffee place that serves the old style brew. I had the Vietnamese style coffee years ago when I was crashing at my friend's house for a few days. His mom made us the coffee the old fashion way, shall I say the way Vietnamese made it back in the old country. This is slightly different. It has an American influence, and prepared by modern European apparatus. I was on the road and this coffee made an excellent highway companion. I savored it, sipping away slowly to enjoy the strong, bitter brew that was perfectly sweetened by condensed milk. The milk tea is on the sweeter side and the crystal boba amps that up a bit as well, but the texture is gelatinous and perfect for people that need texture (or like chewing on something like boba to slow down your milk tea intake).
