Great brunch, lots of food! Priced great too! The service was very friendly and tasty latte too!

Nothing special here. The coffee (I'm talking brewed coffee from the pot) is pretty bad. It's a real turn off since my wife and I are usually looking for our pick-me-up once we get to a breakfast spot. We've discussed grabbing breakfast here again, but the bad coffee is enough to thwart that decision . My wife and I considering going back to a mediocre location might be confusing, but we don't have a lot of options in this area. This is an area with very few breakfast options, so I can see why people gravitate towards it. However, it should not be rated as high as it is. The service is hit and miss, the food is coney quality, and I never feel warm and welcome. If you want breakfast, go right on in, but do not trust the reviews that say this place is "amazing". It's a great option because there isn't much to choose from. read more

Stopped in for breakfast. We probably had one of the worst meals we've had in a long, long time. The potatoes were supposed to be cooked with onions and............well, there were some on the plate. We figured out that they were the small, charred, black bits that were hiding under the greasy, over/under-cooked potatoes. This cook also has a penchant for deep frying the bacon. Bad mistake if you don't extract it from the hot oil at the right moment. Dry, crunchy, edges burnt........................horrible, and I love bacon. Short order cooks of the world, listen up: Quit deep frying the bacon. The griddle/pan was much too hot when our eggs met the metal: Edges were crisp and carmelized with brittle fibers. My wife had pumpkin bread: No good, she couldn't finish it. My wheat toast was out of the toaster for about a half hour.........it wasn't warm, crispy or buttered adequately. Coffee wasn't bad. Then, the icing on the cake: The little hottie at the register was more involved in a conversation with the other waitresses and a male diner to even acknowledge my presence. So, as I walked away, I said, "Oh, you're WELCOME." Her response: Huh? My advice is to eat at Fernando's, a short walk to the east. Or, drive to Flap Jack Shack, Sparty's or one of the other casual dining spots. We won't return. read more

Everybody tells me how great this place is, so after 20 years of living in the area I finally checked it out. The good: the waitstaff were very friendly, many of whom were attractive young girls. The bad: everything else. I ordered a poached egg and Instead got a hard-boiled egg. I ordered the Dutch pancake, but it was just a giant pancake, not a true Dutch Baby as implied. I ordered the Mexican breakfast burrito with chorizo, but the chorizo tasted like hamburger "seasoned" with salt-and-pepper. After three or four bites, I fed the remainder to my dogs. Blondie seems like a nice lady who tries to help the community, but the food sucks major donkey balls. The bottom line: if you think Denny's is good food, you'll probably like this place. However, if you have any discriminating taste whatsoever, you're better off getting Kraft boxed macaroni and cheese. read more

It's a totally standard, not hugely exciting place to go for brunch if you happen to be in H-Town. There aren't many options around, so this is probably one of the better choices! I like the totally corny barn/farm decor. It's shticky, but it actually puts me in a good mood. Brunch shouldn't be taken that seriously anyway. Sooooo, I got some orange juice, which was not fresh squeezed (sad face) and got a totally non-exciting breakfast of eggs sunny side up, wheat toast, bacon, and potatoes. I know, I walk on the wild side, right? It was all perfectly fine. Just okay. Just what you'd expect. Eggs were eggy, toast was toasty (comes buttered), bacon was chewy (not my favorite, I prefer crispy) and the homestyle potatoes were kind of....I don't know, not that delicious. I'd suggest hashbrowns instead. It's cheap, it's brunch, and it's in Haslett. I'd come back, just because it's there, and not much else is! read more

We got a terrible breakfast here recently. My wife had the corned beef hash, hash browns, and a giant mug of fancy coffee. Everything on her plate was undercooked, soggy, and greasy. My plate was the pancakes, which were $5 for two pancakes and nothing else. Expensive, and not awesome either. I love the inside of the place, the menu, and the atmosphere. Blondie's was my go-to breakfast place while I was in grad school at MSU. I dragged more friends and family to this restaurant than any other in the Lansing area... and every person loved it! The menu has a ton of great options, and the portions are huge. (My father, a long-time member of the "Clean Plate Club", struggled to take down the Breakfast Burrito.) The scrambles are my personal favorites, but the omelets and pancakes are also excellent. And do yourself a favor: order the pumpkin bread instead of toast. Save it for the end of your meal (because every meal should have dessert). This is not the place to go for gourmet food. If there's something on the menu that you want to try simple because you can't believe it's on a short-order menu, I'd recommend against it. Order to their strong points: pancakes, eggs, breakfast meat. (This is generally good advice - never figured out why people go to a restaurant known for Italian food and order the stir-fry.) Weekends get busy, so arrive early or be prepared to wait. During the week, you should be able to walk right in. read more

Busy on Saturdays and Sundays but they seem to run a tight ship. I've been there several times and I'll continue to go. Advantages: - No surprises - Good food - In & out quickly once seated Disadvantages: - Young staff can be inconsistent and indecisive. I once ordered an omelet that was supposed to have avocado. My omelet came without it. I asked if I could just have it on the side (that was the entire reason I ordered it) and the young waiter seemed really uncomfortable. He avoided us for refills and showed up with sliced avocado on a plate and our bill 30 minutes later. I explained that it took a long time. Basically, I feel like either he messed up, I ordered the wrong omelet, or maybe there wasn't any avocado. Any of things could have been handled tactfully by an experienced waitperson. We gave it another try and most of the time it is fine, so I'm willing to let it go. read more

The items you typically find in a Barn? Hay, smelly animals and rusted pitchforks. Luckily you will find none of these forementioned items in Blondie's Barn. Well the rusty pitchfork might be one of their decorations, and frankly, if your friends don't clean themselves up a little after a night of boozing, I can't really help you on the smelly animals statement either. As loyal Golden Harvest "ride or die*" patrons, we were devastated one Sunday morning when we pulled up only to find out they were closed due to a family emergency (COMPLETELY valid reason for being closed). Ironically the day before I had read about Blondie's Barn on Yelp! so I suggested it to my friends. I was PRAYING that good 'ol Matt R. wasn't over-exaggerating on how "absolutely amazing" it was for the fear of losing two friends. We were told there was a half hour wait, but considering our stomachs were well on their way to eating themselves disabling any additional movement, Blondie's Barn it was. note: Take a pretty boy with you. The one I brought batted his baby blues at the hostess and I am pretty sure that bumped us up a couple of tables.. or at least he claims. The breakfast (or egg) menu is so vast it's almost overwhelming. I decided on the Jolly Green Omelet (I think that was the name). Something about asparagus in an omelet was rather enticing. I was not disappointed. The breakfast burrito was also a hit at the table; complete with Taco Bell fire sauce. The one drawback was that they had Frank's hot sauce-- a major no-no in my friend's book. Although I am still GH 100% to the grave, Blondie's Barn will always be my number two. read more

This place is absoloutly amazing! One of my top 2 breakfast places in town (Sparty's will always have a place in the top 2). They have a huge and very diverse menu. I had an omlette with Chirizo sausage and Jalapeno peppers. I was truly good. Not greasy at all. Served with hash browns and a stack of toast. Worth the drive to Haslett for sure. **Update** Tried Lunch here for the first time. The burgers (that everyone else got) were amazing. Huge and cooked properly. I went to Blondie's for the first time today and ordered the pumpkin pancakes. My dining companions had the wildberry waffle and the chocolate lover's dutch pancake. Everything was really delicious: exactly what you'd expect from a quality breakfast place only a little better. I got the "short" stack of pancakes, which is only 2, but they were HUGE! I could barely eat one. They were really fluffy, cooked to perfection and made me happy that fall is finally here. The wildberry waffle was a hit, super airy with fresh berries on top. The chocolate lover's dutch pancake was good, but with three scoops of chocolate ice cream atop a dinner plate sized dutch pancake, it was a little much. We probably wouldn't get the chocolate lover's again, but it was definitely worth having once. I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, which is old school cowboy but clean. We were seated right away even on a Sunday morning, and I would definitely go back. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because there wasn't much originality to the food; it was mainly breakfast classics that you could find anywhere. But it's miles ahead of Denny's! read more

One of my go to places for breakfast near East Lansing. This is where you go for comfort food when you miss home. They get pretty busy before noon, but around 1:00 it dies down and they serve breakfast all day. Staff is very friendly and they give you large portions of food. Seriously the pancakes can easily feed two people. I enjoy the omelets and seasonal "Sparty" breakfast sandwich. Try the hot chocolate. Served in a big mug with whip cream. read more

After driving past this place every week for about six months, we finally said, "Hey, so what IS in that red barn?" and pulled into the parking lot. OK, so it's a cutesy red barn in the middle of a parking lot, and it's stuffed with equally cutesy checked table cloths and farm implements. But it's not Old Country Buffet, thank God. The waitresses wear T-shirts with pictures of farm fowl on them and the slogan "Chicks Rule". The service is snappy. And the food's pretty good, even if the coffee's not. The breakfast menu is very... egg-heavy. There are dozens of omelette choices. But you can get all the usual stuff -- bacon, sausage, hash browns. I had the best cinnamon french toast I've ever had anywhere, period. Blondie's also serves lunch. [Edit 11/09/07: I take it back, James C., the cinnamon french toast is NOT the best I've ever had. Very good breakfast restaurant. A large variety of choices and you should not leave hungry, ever. I do have one issue though. On my last visit my wife ordered a Dutch Baby. What showed up was anything but that. It was a gigantic pancake, which was fine if we had ordered a giant pancake. They need to either make actual Dutch Baby's or not use the name and call them colossal pancakes. As it stands it is very misleading. The coffee drinks are also a treat and Blondies Barn is a go to breakfast joint. Expect to wait a little if you go during peak hours. read more

I went to this establishment on recommendation of my sister who loved it. Being a huge fan of all breakfast foods I finally obliged. Atmosphere was quaint, looks like a barn if you couldn't guess. My girlfriend ordered the breakfast sandwich. Decent looking, tasted worse. The english muffin had an odd taste and the ham was overly salty. I ordered the johnny reb, which was your basic eggs, meat, and biscuits and gravy. My hash browns were cold. Not lukewarm, but frigid. The only saving grace was the homestyle potatoes. I can't believe that I live so close but have never been here. The food was good and the price even better. Always ask your waiter what's good. My friend asked about the nachos and the waitress was honest. So my friend got the cheeseburger which was good. She had a snickers coffee and I had a hot chocolate. I probably shouldn't have because I couldn't eat even half of my meal after. My friend got the pumpkin bread to go and said it smelled divine. We loved the place. Gave my name for a reservation, hostess said about 20 minutes. we waited over 45 minutes because the hostess overlooked my name and started to sit other people who came in after me while my girlfriend and I sat and waited 3 feet away from the hostess. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Great wait staff and barista; however, the owner of the restaurant, was absolutely horrific. After waiting for about an hour for a table of 8 of us, we were offered to separate our party into 2 different tables. However, deciding against this, we decided to wait longer very cordially in order to sit together, even after being aggressively told by the owner "it makes no difference anyways girls". Waiting was not an issue here, as it is Saturday morning brunch and expected to wait an hour or so for a large party! We decided to ask the waitress if the tables could be pushed together for our party, a common task, as there was plenty of room! The owner darted over immediately, annoyed we wanted to wait to sit as a group for some reason, and spoke very rudely as we were calm. She ended the conversation using fowl language and a very particular word beginning with the letter F, after reluctantly pushing the tables together, causing no issue of space, or uncomfortably for the other customers. She then began to yell, stating "feel welcome to leave", and wishing a "very happy birthday" in the rudest tone I have ever heard to girl celebrating her birthday brunch. She acted with little class and no respect for the customers or us as she caused a scene. No apology was given, nor mind of us continuing our meal. I've never been treated so horribly and rudely and will never be returning. read more

Walking in, I wasn't super impressed. It appeared pretty clean, and we were seated right away. Our server was friendly and not pushy. I didn't feel rushed. Good menu variety. My fiancé ordered the Fireman Special omelet and I ordered the cowboy breakfast. Delicious food! Hot, fast and yummy! Only downside was the gnat that kept bugging us and the fact that while we were eating our server asked to take the syrup and refill it. It was returned full but extremely sticky. First time experience...sat waiting for at least 15/20 minutes just to be asked 'what would you like to drink'. Order 2 appetizers, waited another 20 minutes for only 1 to show up. Had to 'find' someone to ask where the other appetizer was. Finally shows up. Now we have been here just over an hour and still no food. Asked for the meal to go at this point and the bill was the quickest thing to make it to our table. Next, went looking for a manager. Lot's of excuses. Offered a gift card, when we really just wanted to void the charge altogether. Food arrives in styrofoam (awesome) and we are handed the gift card. Get to the car and open the styrofoam, and yes, fish and chips, extremely greasy and fish that is limp. Went home thinking we can pop the fish and chips in the oven. Nope. Not any better. Go online to see what balance is on the 'gift card', and it says that it's not active. Call the restaurant, put on hold, then told to take down the person's name that we talked to and said to use that when we come in again, and oh, super excited for the $10 gift card that is worthless for my time. Not going back. Get your shit together people. read more
