Erm... Where to begin. Blue Moose in Lenexa is trash, simply put. Their service and food are equally terrible. I'm not even sure how they stay in business. we started going here about two years ago when we moved to a neighborhood right across the street. The location was convenient, they have a decent variety for the family. However, their service and their quality of food is lacking tremendously. Not only are their servers unattentive, half the time they have no idea what you're asking for. And they're never consistent or on the same page. Some servers will let you do certain things or order things a certain way, and others will not. It's never consistent outing there ever. We finally stopped going there when the last time we were there our server was a major B*tch. I wouldn't be surprised if she no longer worked there. She had a snarky attitude and just acted as if we were a complete burden being there. There is one manager there that is always just sitting at a table doing NOTHING! If he is asked to do anything he seems extremely bothered anyone even talked to him. Just a no. Save your money and time and go anywhere else. read more

Blue moose has always been a favorite. Service is still very good, however I ordered the special for Monday which was chicken for $16 was just not worth it. My 8 year old grandson would still be hungry after. My wife had the chicken ceasar salad, great salad but only 3 little bits of chicken. My husband and I placed a to-go order *3 HOURS IN ADVANCE* and paid for the order beforehand. It needed to be ready at 5:30 pm .. he comes and is told "oh, we overlooked that order, we haven't even started it yet" .. As someone who works in the service industry - yikes. the food was .. eh. Stopped by at noon on a Sunday. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait which was fine. Once seated, we were told that the brunch buffet was the only option and we couldn't order from menu till 1:00. We decided to go with buffet and that was a big mistake. Majority of the food was cold. Skip the Sunday Brunch! Just had the brunch at Blue Moose Lenexa (FYI they only serve the brunch on Sundays until 2pm). To begin they sat our family at a dirty table with a spilled drink and food all over the floor at which point we had to ask to be sat at another table. My husband and I both ordered the made to order Eggs Benedict and it never came. It was in the bill, but the server never bothered to bring it out. The scrambled eggs on the buffet were dry. Bacon was raw and sitting in a pan of greasy fat. Croutons on the salad were stale. And the buffet was not kept very clean. Our server did not refill the empty drinks or coffee once and only asked if we wanted a refill when she brought the check. We will not be back! read more

We had high hopes for the Blue Moose which probably made our so-so experience even more disappointing. I ordered the cheeseburger and Mary had the salmon sandwich. Our sandwiches were tasty but the servings of fries were on the small side and not very hot. When we requested ketchup, our server brought us a bottle with about half an ounce left in it. She brought another, but it was nearly empty as well. My burger was $13 and the salmon sandwich was $14--a little on the pricey side. Except for the TV-at-every-table, we enjoyed the atmosphere. Blue Moose has an actual ceiling so it's not too loud and the music was at a level where you could have a conversation. The decor features lots of wood and nice lighting. read more

Went to the Blue Moose on Friday 3/5 for dinner at 7:30pm. Got right in and was seated immediately. After sitting at the table for 10 minutes without a single person stopping by the table to talk with us, we got up and left. Multiple employees walked by us and didn't say a word. We used to frequent this location a lot. We came here tonight to celebrate my 50th birthday and have had nothing but horrific service. We have been here for 2 hours and not only did they screw up our entrees, which btw where the specials that night. But they brought our food out cooked incorrectly, no reason other than they were busy and we were here longer than everyone else in the restaurant. Seriously 5 tables here when we arrived. People came in after us, ordered the same specials and left before we were served. Given multiple excuses etc. We were told our meal would be discounted and when our check came out it was wrong and not even close to discounted. It actually had doubled entree's on it. I doubt we ever return. I'm not sure what happened or who the new management is but they suck! And yes, I've worked in this industry before. Horrible horrible service/experience. read more

This was a new place for my husband and I to try! We absolutely adored it. The food was fantastic everything was fresh and hot on the plate. The atmosphere was very nice and clean,they even had their fireplace going! For appetizer we had the artichoke dip that was very delicious I also like how instead of only chips they put a few slices of pita bread along side it too. For entrees I had the fish and chips the fish was very good portion and also came with fries a small side of Cole slaw and dipping sauce. My husband ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. We don't eat bacon so he asked for his to be without. Unfortunately it still had the bacon in it but staff was very kind and remade the entire wrap for him and he really enjoyed it! When it came time for us to get ready and go our waitress surprised us by asking if we'd like a free dessert because of the food mistake that had happened. My husband and I were not expecting this at all so of course we could not refuse and chose to get the creme brûlée! We will definitely be going back! read more

Went in for a late lunch with my daughter, the restaurant was nearly empty yet we still waited for over 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Then my Pizza was very under cooked. First of all kudos to this place because almost everything is made in house! Helps when the servers can tell you everything in a menu item. Service is outstanding. Hostess was sweet and professional. Management is very present and made rounds to all the tables. Even bussed tables. Our waitress, Liz was incredibly nice and helpful. Answered all my questions and was very proud of the food they serve. All the severs worked as a team and helped one another. Food was fresh and delicious. I had the turkey burger. So moist and the onions and goat cheese were a great topping. Sweet potatoes were crisp and perfect. Started with the wedge. Interesting take on a wedge with apples and golden raisins. Loved it. Bacon was huge chunks and crispy. Very family friendly. A little girl near us whined the whole time but the server didn't get irritated. She tried everything to help the situation. This restaurant used to be a favorite. It was always good, the service was always great. Something has gone terribly wrong. They got rid of the Curry Chicken Chop Salad. Fine menus change. now the service is garbage and the once amazing fish and chips tastes freezer burned and as if the only moisture it's ever seen is the oil it was fried in. The pre mix Cole slaw was turning brown, the malt vinegar had gone way past stale and we got a basically empty bottle of ketchup for fries that were all but raw inside??? Yelper Mom and I met up with our Meetup crew on a busy evening and, in true Blue Moose fashion, they handled our party of 7 like the professionals they are. Our server was very nice and quick to get our drinks to us - even giving us good recommendations for their wine specials of the night which I unfortunately could not partake in. YM and I love their hummus, so we grabbed an order to snack on and it came out surprisingly fast for how busy they were. For dinner, we split an order of their braised beef and holy cow. That was some of the best roast (basically?) beef I've ever had at a restaurant. Incredibly tender with a fantastic sauce on it, I'm drooling just typing about it. Came in on a Friday night with me and my family, there was a small wait without a reservation but thats what we were expecting! Hosts were very kind and got us a table as soon as they could. Our server was very nice and brought us our food very fast. It was delicious and fresh, the Build Your Own Mac and Cheese was very good, and so were the fries! We sat downstairs near the fireplace and the atmosphere was very welcoming! 10/10 would come again! read more

When I last lived in Kansas a few years back I relied on Blue Moose as a fun dinner with drinks. Either my taste improved or their quality suffered. The food is either salty or bland. Ordered the Cheese Burger ready to grill family meal with homemade potato chips (to-go). I was disappointed to see few employees (including the manager) were NOT wearing masks. This is very disrespectful to your customers. The burgers were tasty with a great bun. The condiments (lettuce, onion, and tomato) were skimpy. They forgot to include the cheese. Fortunately I had cheese and condiments at home. The chips tasted good but the portion was extremely small. Happy hour perfect. Quaint decor that can make you feel like your in the mountains somewhere worth the fireplace. It can get noise when it's busy but busy means tasty! Due to Covid we have been ordering food and picking it up to eat at home. We have had several specials. ThePrime Rib is so well seasoned and made to order you want more even after feeling full. The ribs are so delicious. The meat tasty but tender. But the reason I am writing this is because of the magnificent Thanksgiving feast we purchased. It stated for 4-5 people. We sent leftovers home with my brother and have lunch planned with leftover ham and dinner planned with leftover turkey. Yes both were on the menu. The only thing I had to make was sweet potatoes. The leftover pumpkin pie is going to be saved just for me as treats. I am so grateful to the staff who are making dinner time such a wonderful experience. read more

Had a nice, simple meal here last night. Brie appetizer was good. I had the chicken and shrimp curry, and the other person had the fish and chips. Both meals were good. The curry has a peanut sauce drizzled on it, it had a strong peanut flavor, but I will say it seemed more like straight peanut butter just put on the plate. It wasn't bad, balanced some of the heat of the dish. We had drinks as well, which I miss 75th street brewery so I was happy to see the American Honey Lemonade on their drink menu. We used to love Blue Moose but the quality seems to have gone way down and not worth the prices. Carryout was 20 minutes late even though the parking lot was empty. It was missing items and there was no care in packing the soup, which was spilled in the carryout bag. If they are going to be 20 minutes late with the food, you would at least expect it to be hot, but it was cold. Big price, poor quality. Wish there were more options in this area. read more

Since we were in the area, my husband and I decided to try this place out. The decor and ambience was nice, but nothing unique to make it stand out from restaurants in the same vein. Other than great food, the other thing that makes me want to return to a restaurant is the service. The staff here were competent at their tasks, but lacked the warmth and friendliness that would've made Blue Moose five stars for me. Nevertheless, the shrimp and chicken curry gets five stars from me. I was initially stuck between three dishes, but the server recommended this one to me and I'm glad she did. It was rich, creamy, delicious, and great comfort food. The kitchen even adjusted the dish to make it spicier per my request, which was very kind of them. I think a few more smiles from the host and server would make this place five stars for me. However, I will return just for the amazing dish I had there! read more
