New to the area, this was my first time at Bluewater. The Grouper Panama was delicious and definitely the most popular item on the menu. We had a large party and the service was good. The Wedge salad was different as they use Romaine instead of traditional Iceberg. The Mahi was over cooked..they were kind enough to comp it. The oysters were excellent!! Hopefully, it was just an off night for the Mahi as we were told it's usually one of the best entrees they serve. Overall, it was a nice evening out and we enjoyed it. read more

I am very disappointed! I tried this place on a Tuesday. They happen to have a taco special. The waitress was great and although I am not a taco person- the tacos were also great so I returned. Well let's just say my waiter Robin was horrible. Well I decided to return again with my 2 girls and hoped to have better service (my daughter loves tacos). Well, Robin was my waiter once again! I was positive and hoped for the best. Not only was the service even more horrible than previous, I will never return. Food was cold, we didn't get silverware, napkins, bread, the waiter was rude and possibly a racist. We are a black family, the waiter brought over every hot sauce in the building to our table. The food, well let's just say I've had better from other gas stations. Ease up on the salt lick comes to mind. The bright spot was our server. He was upbeat and attentive. The food was good, a bit pricey for the portions but the service was TERRIBLE! Worst service I've ever had. We bared through it and at the end I spoke to the hostess who then got the manager. I usually never complain but when I spend $200 on a meal I made an exception. The only thing the manager did was say " sorry she has a headache". We will definitely not be returning. read more

Service: 3/5. Our server did not take the time to explain their specials and the rest of the menu. We never would've known if not for the other servers doing it for the other tables. Our server was also not very attentive at first and other servers had to refill our drinks. Appetizers: 5/5. We ordered fresh oysters and their char-roasted oysters. Both were amazing and you can taste the freshness. My fiancé even liked their char-roasted oysters and she normally doesn't eat oysters. Entrees: 3/5. I ordered their char-grilled prime rib. It had an amazing crust/sear and it was cooked to the proper temperature (medium rare). The problem was the cajun dust/rub. It was way too salty. The portions for the veggie sides and the salads were a bit too small, though their citrus vinaigrette was pretty delicious. My fiancé ordered their shrimp pompano entree. The shrimps were a bit overdone but the creole-tupelo sauce offered a sweet contrast to the saltiness of the bacon. Overall it was a decent dining experience. Definitely will need to lay off the salt on the grilled prime rib. We will come back to try other items on their menu and for their oysters. read more

Decided to try this place after the great reviews. Let me tell you, I thought I was sitting in a restaurant, at the beach in Florida again. The seafood was fresh and delicious. For appetizers we had the raw oysters as well as the cooked version. Raw oysters was fresh and juicy. Cooked was very good as well, not overcooked and had great flavors. We also tried the crab claws in butter sauce. Crab was also fresh and cooked perfectly. Sauce was a little too salty for my taste but paired well with the crab claws. For entree, I had the fried grouper plate with fried oysters, shrimp, mashed potatoes and corn. Everything was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside and not dry or overcooked on the inside. Don't let the Chevron gas station right in front and dingy strip mall location deceive you. This is seriously good seafood. I'm from Indiana and chose Bluewater based on Yelp. Liked it so much I went back two days later and got the Bluewater Platter with fried oysters, shrimp, and grouper both times. Wait staff are extremely personable and do a great job. For dinner, I had the shrimp pompano shrimp and my husband had the shrimp and grits. Both were a reasonable proportions. Wow! This place is delicious! We are from California where there is fresh seafood everywhere so when my sister that loves in the area told us how good this place was and that it was attached to a gas station of course we were skeptical. It didn't disappoint. The decor inside was very cute, as soon as we walked in we forgot we were attached to a gas station. My parents, mother especially is a sea food fanatic and she loved her food especially the oysters. I'm not a seafood fan and I'm also gluten and dairy intolerant but I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and I loved it. I just avoided the mash potatoes and free bread. The salad with citrus dressing was delicious and so was the fish dish my sister got although I don't remember what it was called. We all finished our food, practically licked the plates. There was an alligator appetizer we wanted to try but it was a large portion so we didn't order it, it would be nice if there were a smaller version. The alcoholic drinks they had were delicious as well. The service was great. Our waiter was very accommodating. He even gave us extra free bread with a smile! The hubs and I were treated to dinner here for a birthday and anniversary celebration. To be honest we didn't expect much from what we thought would be just a gas station restaurant. Let me tell you, we were blown away! Each of us ordered something different and shared tastes, and every dish was fresh and delicious. We never dreamed seafood could be so fresh this far inland, but it tasted as if it was just caught. Our table had the Bluewater Platter, Shrimp Pompano, Grouper Panama, and Shrimp & Grits. All our dishes were prepared fresh to order, arrived hot to the table, and everything was perfectly seasoned. You can tell when food is prepared with love, and Chef/Owner Loren obviously enjoys what he does! The Cajun flair was reminiscent of NOLA's best, and even my half-Cajun hubby was impressed! The service was impeccable from seating to leaving. We ordered the key lime pie for dessert and mine came out with a birthday candle in it, our server initiating the happy birthday song for the table. That pie was so good it literally brought tears to my son's eyes. That's what happens, y'all, when you love great food and you finally find some! A truly great meal is an emotional experience and this one did not disappoint. To top off the night we got to meet Chef and Owner Loren. He made us feel like part of the family and invited us back. Add to that the fact there were no substitutions allowed, you were stuck with starches that you could not eat. Finally went and was pleased. Started w/ she crab and gumbo. She crab had suffici9ent cherry to make it an outstanding preparation. Marred only slightly by a couple pieces of cartilage (claw not lump). Gumbo had a bit too much spice but was among the best here in town. Then fried blue crab claws. Very good and nice portion (6 oz). So far all was fairly priced for quality and amount. Entrees were Cajun mixed grill which was nicely seasoned but mahi mahi was overdone and rubbery. Pointed this out to waitress (should have adjusted our bill but didn't hence the 4 stars not 5). Shrimp was prepared just right, potatoes on both dishes were "interesting". Other entree was a round-up of grilled shrimp (great w/ dijon mustard sauce...but come at least remove the shell), fried grouper...just right w/ crispy batter and broiled oysters w/ breading. Some were hard to find and quite small. Overall a better din gin experience than offered by most of Columbus. Plan on returning and know what to order and what to avoid. Oh waitress was slow to remove used dishes. Next time I'll pay more attention to the service now that I know what to expect w/ food. For the $$ they can up their game a bit...not fine dining but needs tweaking. read more

Seven of us were promptly seated and greeted by our friendly waiter. Drinks were ordered and served. A basket of Alligator Bites was ordered and everyone had a sample. They were quite tasty. After ordering our dinners we were served a crisp salad which is included with a dinner order. My wife and I ordered the Bluewater Platter as did several others. The platter includes Grouper, Gulf Shrimp and Oysters. Smashed creole potatoes and grilled corn is also part of the dinner. The Bluewater Platter is very good and well prepared. Everyone in our group was happy with their meals. This restaurant is out of the way on Warm Springs Road tucked in behind a gas station. I would have given five stars but the ambiance needs a bit of improvement. We will return. read more
