My first visit to Bobbie's was last Saturday and I had the small chicken-fried steak with eggs. I was glad I didn't order the large chicken-fried steak since the small size is still a hefty portion. I ordered the buttermilk pancake plate after considering the French toast, because I figured if the pancakes are good everything else should be as well ... not really. My daughter ordered the small chicken fried chicken with fries. She said the CFC was great as it was hot, fresh & crispy and the fries were the same. Cool. The pancakes were ... *not* good. Either the batter was overmixed, old, undercooked or something, because as I cut into them I could see stark white and oddly crumbly batter, they were also barely warm and did not melt the butter. I tried a piece that looked decent & immediately got the server's attention. I don't typically send food back, but I couldn't see going any further. I knew what I needed to know. The plate came with scrambled *egg* (no way it was 2 eggs), room temperature bacon (daughter said it was ok), and extremely greasy and room temperature hash browns. I ended up getting the French toast, which was hot, fresh and actually tasty. We went in the middle of the week around 10a as we had business in the area and there were maybe 6 other tables at this time. No way there should've been a food quality issue. The server was super sweet (Amelya, I believe) and the manager was nice as well ... it's just not for me. And that's ok. Massive portions and my arteries definitely got more clogged than they already were. We immediately put ourselves on the wait-list knowing there's a wait in the morning especially on the weekends. Then I could run a few quick errands while keeping a constant eye on the waiting list. This location is where the old pancake Haus used to be. It has plenty of parking. Once I checked in, our table was ready in about 5 minutes. We were quickly greeted by our server who took our drink orders. I ordered a coffee and was nice and hot and comforting. I believe they need to use a better filtered water but was good enough for a second cup when our food was presented after we ordered. The menu has your standard fare items. Where the potatoes weren't especially great, but the hash browns were seasoned perfectly. I ordered a short stack pancakes and my wife ordered the small, chicken fried steak and eggs with their huge biscuit! The biscuit was flaky and dense, much like the pancake. Buttermilk thickness was present. I also had their sausage patties and overeasy eggs. All was standard fresh tasting food, but to me the winner was the chicken fried steak. It was so good and tasty with the sawmill gravy. It was initially hot out of the kitchen but remained warm throughout the meal. My daughter & I ate lunch at Bobbie's, Sep 4th and the food was great. My daughter ordered meatloaf & gravy, green beans and mac & cheese. The macaroni and white cheese vs. real Mac & cheddar cheese tasted horrible, so she sent it back in exchange for mashed potatoes. I ordered hamburger steak with brown gravy, grilled onions, fried okra & mashed potatoes. The hamburger steak tasted like a hamburger pattie, no seasoning, the mashed potatoes were chunky with skins and the gravy was thick & chunky. I did not like the taste of the hamburger steak, so I sent it back in return for meatloaf after tasting my daughter's meatloaf. The new plate arrived with meatloaf, seasoned with bell peppers, finely mashed potatoes & nice smooth brown gravy. The meatloaf food items were made fresh vs. the meat patty plate. I ordered a slice of Texas toast and that toast was too die for, grilled in butter and crispy! My daughter ordered cherry cheese cake and I ordered lemon meringue pie. The lemon meringue pie was a very small slice and tasted old. I would not order the lemon meringue pie again. My daughter said the cherry cheese cake was fresh and tasty. RECOMMENDATION: Overall, after exchanging my food plate, I would eat at Bobbie's again. read more

This restaurant has the best chicken fried steak I've had in many many years. Bobbie's Cafe is a stalwart representation of what a classic diner should be. A visit here is well worth your time. This place is popular so be prepared for a wait or check-in through their website. Bobbie's Cafe has been here since 1972 in the same location. The building consequently looks the part of a well-worn and frankly outdated place to have a restaurant. This observation does not matter and while the environs aren't the poshest in town the food at this restaurant is what shines. I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs and when the plates came to the table I was amazed at the size of the steak. in response, the server said "You actually got a small one. Sometimes the steak takes up the entire plate and we have to put the eggs and potatoes on another one" You can find a large chicken fried steak almost anywhere that serves the dish but what you don't find is a quality of cooking where the breading sticks to the meat when you cut it and doesn't fall apart. Also, you want a chicken fried steak that is crispy on all sides and doesn't get soggy...even when slathered with gravy. In today's fast food culture it is rare to get a chicken fried steak that is actually cooked properly. This place does it right, I've become aware that this location will be closing and will be in a new building soon. I hope that they are able to transfer the mojo that has developed here into the new space. I can't wait to visit again and try some of the other terrific looking options on their menu . I cannot comment on the food, only on the service and management. We are from out of town, but we eat out quite a bit. We are familiar with long wait times, but this place was ridiculous! We were told 30-45 mins, which was fine, 50 mins into our wait, the manager was having to explain to several customers their wait process with regard to booking online vs not booking online. We did not book online. We decided to see how much ch longer our wait time would be, we were told 50 minutes, that is BS because we have already waited 50 mins. Do not sleep on Bobbie's!! If you haven't been there, why not?! The restaurant feels much more open and not as loud as before. There are always lots of people on the wait list, but it goes by quickly and is totally worth it. The service is outstanding. The hostess, servers, bussers - everyone was friendly and helpful. And the food!! We ordered waffles w/ strawberries and cream as an "appetizer." Delicious!! The waffles were fluffy just sweet enough. Due to an extended wait at Snooze, my mom suggested this place. I had never heard of the place so I was eager to check it out. Sadly, when we arrived we were advised of a long wait. We decided to stick around and wait. There were a lot of patrons waiting also which I thought was a good sign. We sat outside for about 45 minutes. Got the eventual text advising our table was ready. We were led to the back right seating area. The tables were somewhat spread out so it wasn't cramped. Our waitress came by soon after for our drinking order. Based on the menu, this place has a lot of variety. I liked that breakfast is served all day. I opted for the SOS combo. After a lengthy wait, our food was finally served. The biscuit and gravy was great. The biscuit was huge too! I also had two scrambled eggs, pork sausage, and farmhouse potatoes. Nothing terribly exciting about the eggs. However, the potatoes and sausage was delectable. I liked the seasoning and texture of the potatoes. My sister didn't understand and followed a server because she thought he was seating us and he wasn't.... So then finally a lady came and we were already confused because wait over there isn't helping and there isn't a sign for a waiting spot. So we ordered and our waitress just made faces. So, yes, we asked for a few accommodations, but we are literally telling you what we want so you don't have to be wrong later. The food came out and our table was pretty small for five people. They tried to fit five in a four (it was just one table.) The food barely fit. We ordered an omelette, two large chicken fried steaks, a burger, and an extra plate. The breading on the chicken fried steak was overwhelming and the steak was the size of the burger. The chicken fried steak was over cooked so I had a hard time cutting it and fries flew off my plate and on to the floor. The omelette's vegetables were burned in the omelette, so the taste wasn't good. I am so confused on why people like this place and why it was so busy. Maybe I got the wrong thing, maybe it was an off day, but I am not running back to this place. Stopped into this local area favorite for the first time and was quite glad I did. THIS restaurant is very non-assuming from the outside. In fact, I've passed by a dozen times in the past and never even noticed the place. Maybe that's how they like it. We arrived around 1pm and only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table in the relatively small dining room. Nothing fancy about it. Funny thing is, I arrived thinking I would be ordering their famous Chicken Fried Steak, until I noticed the Pork Chops on the menu were 8oz chops... and they offered two! Seriously, two of the best chops I've had on a breakfast plate in a long time. The 3/4" chops were juicy, smoky, and even a little crispy on the edges... they were perfect! I ordered the plate with over-easy eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit. Honestly, the only miscue I will admit was that one of the eggs was cooked over-medium instead of over-easy and the hash browns were not as crispy brown as I typically prefer, although still very good. Even the huge homemade biscuit was very tasty. Overall A- for the food. The service was very good and attentive. Our server was friendly, and made several stops to see if we needed refills or anything else. Service was a solid A. As mentioned, this place is an old hometown favorite, as noticed in their decor. The chairs and tables are actual wood, and the walls and floors look like they've seen a million visitors. The appearance gets a C. The value of the meal was good, considering my two-pork chop plate came in around $15. The food and service far outweigh the location or the appearance of the place and receives a solid A. Wow, I have been wanting to try Bobby's since reading they were talking over the original location of Magnolia Pancake Haus. First, I highly recommend using the "Join The Waitlist" on their website, especially on weekends and holidays when they are open. My wife ordered the new Peach Cobbler French Toast with bacon. I ordered the Farmers Omelet (Note: they ran out of mushrooms and asked if I wanted to substitute something and I asked for Avocado). I had the Hash browns and grilled biscuit as my sides. Everything was very delicious and filling. If you get a biscuit on the side I recommend asking it be grilled. Our server Miranda suggested it and I am glad I listened. Wow, Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and homemade. If you haven't tried Bobby's Southern Kitchen I highly recommend it. I normally don't post negative reviews, but this one feels necessary. Today, April 19, 2026, I visited Bobbie Southern Comfort expecting a good dining experience, but unfortunately it was the opposite. After placing my order, I ended up waiting over 2 hours for my food. During that time, several customers became frustrated and even walked out. What made the situation more disappointing is that I had already paid in full before receiving service. After such a long delay, I felt there should have been some effort to accommodate customers for the inconvenience--whether that meant a partial refund, discount, apology, or some gesture of goodwill. Instead, I was told by the owner that they do not offer refunds or discounts. I understand that busy days and unexpected delays can happen, but customer service is how a business responds when things go wrong. Sadly, this experience left me very disappointed. What do y'all think? Should customers be compensated after waiting that long, especially when payment was taken upfront? My waitress was great thank you Samantha . Yes, I tipped my waitress. So we visited after voting early one weekday morning and were not disappointed. The menu is vast with lots of chicken fried options. That was my main reason for going. I don't care for chicken fried steak but my daughter loves it and declared Bobbie's version legit! My mother clucker sandwich was ginormous. I immediately boxed half and still could not finish the other half. It was tasty and filling. I would have preferred a bit more seasoning but it was still good. The coffee was good too. 10 Oct 2024 We never went to their restaurant on the south side, of which I had read was on the smaller side. Visiting here, I can see why people are really happy about the larger space. It doesn't appear they changed much, other than the signs on the restrooms, 'Roosters' and 'Hens'. They kept the Magnolia tables and chairs. We arrived about 10:30am and were handed breakfast menus. The husband wanted pork chops, but they were out of them. Sigh. I went with the biscuit sandwich with sausage. Husband was not overly impressed. I thought mine was pretty good. Service was very good. If it wasn't our server attending to us, it was one or two others. Prices aren't bad. Our tab for our two plates and a coffee was $29. Go there. read more
