I got in the shop and a pleasant man in the front desk answered my question and immediately had one of the employee assessed my car. As in fast!!! I recently discovered my engine splash cover got destroyed by a pothole in LA. I drive a 2022 Honda Insight Hybrid. The dealership wanted to charge me $200 to install the part. After 11,000$ I would think driving off the lot would feel like driving away with a new vehicle; definitely NOT the case. As a veteran, as a prior diesel mechanic, I am highly concerned for this shop. I left with more issues to my vehicle then how it got brought into the shop. I came for misfires in my engine, but what I got was: Missing 3 lugnuts out of 6 on my front passenger tire. While the other three barely held on.-- they allowed me to drive home like this. I have my SRS light on-- they allowed me to drive home with no airbags due to a sensor not being addressed. I have NO cold air all of a sudden.-- I'm being told they did not charge it, like they were supposed to OR they messed something up. I have a V6 twin turbo, I can no longer hear any turbo coming from my vehicle. 11,000$ dollars later-- and all the manager and Kennyard could say to me sarcastically was, "well what would you like me to do?" I, the customer, would like you to have done your job correct and right THE first time. That's not too much to expect after 11,000$ later. read more

He made me feel very comfortable about my cars problems but also that I wouldn't be scammed. After scheduling an appointment through Yelp I showed up the next morning. I told them I had contacted them through Yelp and the man had no idea what I was talking about...but that was fine because they didn't mind and they helped me otherwise. I went in for an A/C issue. They said they would take a few hours and check it out and see what the issue was. They called and said they couldn't fix it because they couldn't get the part from the dealer. Which was fine I thought they were being honest and they even gave me suggestions of what I could do. They said the labor would be around $500-600 if I were able to take it back once I got the part. I picked up the car and they charged me $120 for "testing". Flash forward to today I took it to another place. They fixed it in less than 30 min and said it was just a loose wire. They didn't even charge me. So either this place is dishonest and only wanted to get money out of me. I spoke with Alan over the phone, who was very patient and helpful in discussing the situation with my car. I've been to several different auto shops but Chapman Auto Repair is pretty much the best you can get. After a week of difficulties with another shop, I came here to get a safety inspection just to make sure my car was good for an upcoming long distance road trip I had to make. Not only did I receive a full report including photos of what my car needed to get replaced (and was assured that these are non-urgent items), I was also given a broken down cost by line item. Amazing work! Not all auto shops do this. Additionally, they have many precautions set-up now due to COVID. They keep the doors open, are socially distanced, and my seats/steering wheel were covered with sanitary wrap when I got it back.
