I drive a BMW SUV and my key fob has been signaling that I needed a new battery for quite some time, but I live quite a distance from my dealership. Today, while I was in Orange for an appointment, I asked Siri for a BMW spot nearby and she gave me Chapman Auto Repair. When I called they explained that they were not a dealership, but repair BMW's. I told them what I needed and they said they carried some batteries and so since they were only a mile or so away, I went to check them out. I found a nice little luxury car repair shop that I wish was closer to the high desert; I would definitely use them as they were professional, had 4+car bays and very nice technicians. They found a replacement for my battery and didn't even charge me. All the Senior Advisor asked is if I were a Yelper, would I leave a review. I told him I was and yes, I would. Thank you Alan, Jesse and Jesse, (yes there were two.) You fixed one of my problems today and you did it with kindness.

I came to this auto shop because it had really good rating. Even though they did a great job finding out what was wrong with my vehicle. They left a lot of part disassembled and didn't bother checking before returning the vehicle. Also the price for maintenance was a bit steep for them to leave my car disassembled. I was also not compensated nor given a discount for having to bring back my vehicle twice because someone of the missing parts they could not find and had to purchase from Honda. I don't know if I would return here knowing that they did half the job but asked for full price.

Update review do not go to Firestone. They're a rip off as well. Wouldn't trust neither one of them. They said everything was fine. The Freon was empty. They said they tested it for leaks and it was leaking all over. They didn't put any dye in the system to check for leaks Fixed it at Becker tire for 200 bucks been working great ever since it was empty no Freon.

Courteous and professional. Took my Lexus ES350, with 50,000 miles, in for brake pedal vibrations when stopping at freeway speeds. They analyzed the problem, gave me a fair price estimate by text, turned all 4 rotors and installed premium brake pads. The brakes now feel like when the car was new. Little extras: they put a mat down on the drivers side floor, and cover over the steering wheel to keep them clean. They repainted the brake calipers black. Here are just some photos of this incident. First photo is the lot fees they threatened me with. The last photo is the personal number of the officer who asked to call them if the people working there tried anything again. After getting my car evaluated at another shop, they were able to confirm the problem with my A/C as a broken compressor. That was something I found extremely odd as a MASSIVE portion of my fees here at Auto Repair of Orange was for a NEW compressor. It sounds like they didn't fix anything because the cost of the compressor was the max price available on blue book which couldn't have meant they bought a poor quality or after market compressor. So they charged me the max price for a compressor that immediately stops working a few weeks after the repairs were done. A different shop found a broken compressor as the issues. It's beginning sound more and more like they are taking ADVANTAGE of college students and OVERCHARGING them. ;) read more

I had one of there service advisors (Joe I believe) talk me into a expensive aftermarket oil pan for my 2004 Jeep TJ. I was soon very unhappy with this oil pan he sold me. I soon came across a new O.E.M. oil pan and gasket. I brought it to this service advisors attention and how unhappy I was with the oil pan he sold me and ask if he could make things right and give me free labor to install the new pan and fix this issue and he flat out said NO. I have spent thousands of dollars at this place and my TJ was my pride and joy. I will not be back here for any further service or work. read more

I find that how a business treats a customer before any money changes hands is a pretty good indicator of how they'll treat them as things move forward. I just selected these folks to do a brake job on my 2006 Pathfinder because of the prompt, courteous and friendly response to an online request for an estimate. When I factored that in with all the amenities they offer customers, the many favorable references from friends, neighbors and even some competitors my "comfort level" is already off the charts! As they're located within walking distance from home I've had the opportunity to see the service bays for myself and they are spotless. Of course, I'll follow up with a review after the work is completed but I think I'm impressed enough to write a glowing one with a well deserved 5th star in advance! read more

If you're looking for honesty, a job well done and a pleasant experience look no further. From start to finish was a smooth process. My wife's car had an oil leak and the team here took care of the leak at a very fair and great price. This man claimed we were thinking of a different shop. Well the shop we went to is bright blue, on W. Chapman Ave about a 1/2 mile west of the circle. And at the retime, used a bright yellow hummer to take customers home and then p/them up and take back to the shop. read more

Great guys and great service. Called ahead and asked how long the wait for an oil change was, they said come right on in! Was in and out in about an hour and the technician was awesome and we talked about other things about my car. Definitely recommend this place for your oil change needs as that's what I went for. My Catalytic Convertor got stolen from my Prius and ever shop I called was just not helpful or empathetic, these guys are patient, honest, and fair. I connected them with my insurance and like that everything was done. OH YEA, they were able to get the part MONTHS fast then anyone ever quoted me. Great service! Professional and courteous! Highly recommend! I needed an oil-change service for my 2020 BMW 330i and requested quotes on Yelp after learning the dealership wanted $225 do the service. I had several auto shops contact me, and after hearing from the owner, John, he was absolutely great in his response to me. I loved his enthusiasm and his messages to me. No doubt, he wanted my business, and I am happy that I went to him. I only expected an oil change and filter, which was top-notch, but I they also rotated my tires and did a comprehensive inspection of my vehicle. They made me feel welcome while I waited, and made sure that I was going to leave happy, and they succeeded! A LOT of value for what I paid. I saved $100 versus going to the dealership! UPDATE: After a less-than-stellar experience, the owner reached out to me directly to remedy the situation and promised he would personally look into their systems and their technicians. A few days later I received a letter in the mail. He sent a check for the price of my new car battery, a gift certificate for future service, and threw in a couple movie tickets as well. This is PHENOMENAL customer service. John went above and beyond to treat me as a person and not just another customer with dollar signs next to my name. You won't get that kind of service anywhere else. They've earned back my respect and my future business. There is something majorly wrong with their inspection system. Brought my car in for brakes, which were repaired just fine. BUT the very next day my car battery was dead. Either they didn't actually check my battery, or their system failed to catch it. I'm lucky this happened while I was at home instead of running errands with my 2 month old son which is what I was preparing to do when I found my battery dead. Very disappointed that something so simple was missed. Makes me question the quality of their service and wonder what else could be majorly wrong with my car read more

Alan and Kennyard are always so nice and trustworthy, they make me feel like a friend coming by to visit when I have to bring my car in. Whether it be for a simple oil change, smoke check or something more mechanical I know they will help me with the best affordable option that will work for me. They consistently go out of their way to help. As a single woman who honestly doesn't know much about cars they really take the stress out of dealing with a repair shop. So many people are quick to write negative reviews, it really says something about a company when there are so many more positive reviews than negative. I had a very pleasant experience with my smog check. I was greeted immediately and the transaction was completed in minutes. My car was driven over to the garage area and before I could even finish making myself a cup of coffee, the smog check was all done. This is near my workplace and after working nightshift, I was extremely surprised and grateful it was so quick. I live about 30 minutes away but needless to say I will definitely be coming here for their other services. Not often you see business with tons of long time clientele. That speaks volume. I have been coming to this location for about 15 years. I live about 30 miles away but I come to Urgent Auto Care because they are honest, trustworthy, friendly, and most of all, they will give you the run down on the issue and offer options for you to decide on what you want to do with great pricing. I often come here for things the dealer wants me to change and repair and Sean will let me know what is more of a priority than other items, or the dealer reported items, that is not as bad as the dealer made it sound like and that I have some times before I really need to think about changing or repair. Sean had consistently proved to me that he will be honest on what you need and not on what he can earn from you. However , my recent visit(12/20/25) has changed my view on them . Their smog tech's knowledge is lacking . My car's catalytic converter was stolen last year . We purchased all parts from the dealer and had them installed by a local reputable muffler location . ( catalytic converter , oem flange , oxygen sensor , gaskets , upper and lower shields misc hardware). We added a miller cat shield to protect it.. I brought him my car for a smog. He told me everything lookred good, except the visual? I said why? He told me that the catalytic converter was the incorrect one. I told him it was the OEM part from the Manfacture. He disagreeed. I told him i had the reciept from the dealer where the parts were purchased. He told me he wasn't going to charge me but to bring it back the car with the documentation. No failed docuemntation was handed to me . I printed all records from the online dealer purchase and returend. I was greated by a different smog tech. I told him that the previous tech told me to come back to smog the car. He reviewed the car and told me the car had failed. I was confused as the first tech didn't not say anyting about failing the car. I told the new tech that i had brought it this location. He asked for the documentation. I told him the gentlemen that reviewed the car told me he was not going charge and not docuemenation was issued. I told him that if the tech failed it you smog system should have a record. He goes and looks up the car to see who pefromed the test and found it was the smog station they run. He printed out the failed report The new techc said, come back when he is here as i don't why he failed it. I asked him when the tech will be back? He stated in 2 weeks? SMH.... 2 weeks? i can't wait that long. I reverted back to the smog /repair station i went prior to finding this shop(its closer to my home). Guess what it passed the visual. Never again will i come back. It is unfortunate. 2 stars, the lack of knowledge is unacceptable. The inablity to identify an OEM Catalytic converter from the Car's manufacture is a problem.

I got three other quotes up to $2600 requiring to replace the bumper and paint the fender to match! The car is over 5 years old but the entire body is in great shape. I wasn't looking for a perfect repair. Lawrence at the start asked if I wanted a perfect restoration or something reasonable. I definitely wanted something reasonable because I didn't want to go through my insurance company for an aging car. After he finished the repair, you can't even notice any damage. I wish more body shops were more honest like Signature Auto body. Last thing, I plan to come back with my other car that needs more extensive work but at least I know I'm dealing with someone who I can trust! :)

I was told this type damage might be covered under my comprehensive auto insurance. Let me preface this by saying that I have never written a Yelp review before in my life. I was so disappointed by Chapman Auto Repair that I felt I had an obligation to warn others. I was ripped off by this business. I went to Chapman Auto Repair because it is conveniently located. I was satisfied with the routine maintenance and repairs they did but they always gave me a long list of suggested services. I usually went there every time my check-tire-pressure light went off. The car has a faulty sensor -so the light goes off sometimes when the tire pressure isn't low. It has done this ever since I hit a curb with my front tire. Every time I went in they would charge me for "fixing the sensor" -they would charge $60 for this. I have since gone elsewhere and I have never been charged -other auto shops just reset the sensor for free. I once asked them to check one of the belts because my parents had taken the car to a different shop and it was suggested the belt needed to be replaced. Keep in mind I know nothing about cars. They told me that the belt was worn out. They gave me the estimate, I agreed and they went ahead and replaced the belt. That same week, I checked my records and found an invoice from the other shop -it turned out that the belt I had asked about had already been replaced by my parents just one month prior. I should have made sure about this before I agreed to the services but still -they lied when they said the belt was worn. I went back and asked about this and they lied to me again, stating that they had done the replacement because the belt had been installed wrong by the other auto shop! And then there's Wesley. He seems like a nice enough guy, but he can't seem to stop himself from describing his whole life story as he drives you around town in the courtesy car. He spared no detail with me. For example, I now know that his son had a child out of wedlock because he talked at length about what a sorry sight his son's baby-momma is. This is all rather personal -which is perhaps why I shouldn't share it on the internet- but that is also why he shouldn't be sharing it with customers. I will never give this business my money ever again. Please do not take your car to them. read more

This place use to be 807 Chapman Car Care. It's still on Yelp but reads "closed". Don't let that fool you. It's still owned and run by the same crew. Their motto is that they are "nice guys to deal with". Of course they are. Most fast talking, slick salesmen are. So you should go to the listing for 807 and read and PAY ATTENTION to all the 3 star and below reviews. Those people have this joint's number. The DECEPTION starts even before you get in the door. Outside they have a sign that says they were voted "Best of Orange". As if it were some independent civic award. Get them to tell you, specifically, WHO voted them that. The REAL answer is that they did it themselves and just hung up the sign. When you get inside their service writers will ask you all sorts of personal questions that have nothing to do with repairing your car. This information goes into their computer so they can act like your big buddy on future visits...if you are silly enough to return. The service writers will also tell you that they are not on commission. Don't believe it. The more services or repairs they can sell you, the more they make. You might also hear that ALL of their mechanics are Master certified. That is not true either. If you check around you will also find that their hourly rate is ABOVE average for the area. And don't even get me started on how much they mark up the parts they put in your car. If your car breaks down (and this especially goes for CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY students), and the tow-truck driver says he knows a great place to take your car, and it's Chapman Auto Repair. Tell him NO! They have been known to "tip' drivers that bring cars to them. So go read the old reviews for 807 Chapman Car Care...and be forewarned. read more

Fabulous service! The professionalism and kindness I received from Ryan @ Chapman Auto Repair was greatly appreciated last Saturday morning as I drove in to Orange from Ventura w/ my daughter to tour Chapman University. We googled auto repair and drove straight to Chapman Auto Repair of Orange praying it would be an honorable business. Our plans were to visit Chapman University and then on to San Diego to tour colleges. As soon as I drove in I knew I was in a safe, reputable business. Ryan came out to meet me before I could step in the business office- which was immaculate. He assured me that they would not only take care of whatever the problem was but they'd also do their best to get me in the road as quickly as possible given my situation. He also offered their customer service van to drop us @ the university so we could stay on schedule. As we finished up our tour Ryan phoned me w/ the diagnosis, informed me that he had already ordered the part required, gave me an estimate & additional info on other fixes needed but not necessarily today and promised to have my car ready w/ in 2 hours. Just enough time for us to head into Orange's historic Old Towne for lunch and a little shopping. As promised, Ryan called prior to the 2 hr deadline and we were on our way to San Diego. The car runs great- no "surprise" add-on fees. They printed everything out and placed it in a blue folder for my mechanic where I live making it easy for me to locate/share. They answer their phones here with , "Chapman Auto Repair- The happiest place on earth!" I laughed to myself but "get it"- they're all about being PRO'S at what they do- especially how they treat people. HIGHLY recommend this terrific business! read more

I brought my Hummer H3 into Chapman Auto Repair of Orange for what felt like an overwhelming list of major repairs. My vehicle needed a full engine replacement, work to pass smog, and a complete brake overhaul. It was a massive job--definitely not something every shop can handle but the team at Chapman proved right away that they truly know their stuff. From the very first conversation, they were straightforward, knowledgeable, and reassuring. They walked me through the repair plan, kept me updated consistently, and handled every part of the process with real professionalism. This review is long overdue. 2+ years to be exact. My visit was in May of 2020 I think. When I lived in Orange I took my 2006 Mercedes E class in for a smog check. If I could give them 10 stars I would. From the first phone call on, they were so helpful and nice. Right away I knew this was going to be my new go-to place. As a single woman, it can be difficult to go in to an auto body shop and feel like you're not being taken advantage of or treated like you don't know what you're asking for, etc. Ladies am I right!! But I felt completely comfortable here. You can tell immediately that its a family business and they care very much about their service quality and their customers. I was going to take my car back to them for an oil change, which I was pleasantly surprised to be told they do on Mercedes. But then shortly after I ended up moving out of state and selling that car. I would highly recommend this shop, and I'm actually really bummed that I don't live nearby anymore, because I was really looking forward to supporting such a great Old Town Orange business. I had such a great experience at Chapman Auto Repair that I just signed up with Yelp to write a review. They had a Groupon for an AC recharge and leak test and the price was so reasonable that I traveled to have it done. To my surprise, I found them to be honest, transparent, incredibly fair and their work comes with a guarantee that I'd come back for anything else my car needs. They also have superb customer service (rivals Amazon's); they offered me a ride while the car was being serviced, I was given the opportunity to talk with the mechanic before the work was done to address any comments, questions or concerns, when the parts were removed they showed them to me proving why it was necessary to replace them, and when they finished with the car they gave me a voucher for a free car wash at a place just up the street. The owner (John) is aboveboard; he knows how to run a business, has a great business philosophy and takes care of his customers. Recently needed second opinion and took my car to Chapman Auto Service in Orange CA - and John please don't try to say it was a different shop. These guys are afraid to tell you that you need a headgasket when you come for a second opinion, and instead of helping solve the problem, they think putting stop leak in a brand new radiator and faking the changing of a thermostat is a bandaid, but not revealing what they have done to harm your car. Beware. The cost of replacing the radiator and cleaning a whole cooling system was $800 and I still had to fix the headgasket issue, as well as pulling away from their shop with a puddle of fluids under my car when I pulled into my office parking lot. Dissappointing is a mild comment. A much better mechanic is just a few blocks away and I will never allow Chapman Auto Repair to touch my car again. I am out $1700 from Chapman Auto's mishandling of this whole issue. Never again. read more

I walked into Chapman Auto Repair already annoyed and impatient, convinced the process was taking longer than it should. I had talked to a few other mechanics before coming here, each with different opinions, and I was trying to price match while putting off the repairs--only for my vehicle to get worse over time. So yes, I showed up frustrated.But Chapman turned my whole experience around. They truly handled me with care, kept me informed every step of the way, and made everything as comfortable as possible. I was very impressed by the service and honesty of Chapman Auto Repair. We went to Chapman for a second opinion after Volkswagen told us we needed a new engine for my daughters Jetta which was going to cost over $12000. The car only had 83k miles on it and never should have had engine problems like they said we had. Alex was the advisor who helped us along with the mechanics and they advised us that we most likely did not need a new engine and that the car could run for thousands of miles more. They didn't even charge us for a diagnostic check. We decided to sell the car after Carmax did their own diagnostic check and offered to buy the car. This was my first time personally bringing in our Jeep into Chapman Auto Repair. My husband usually handles it and always speaks highly of their work. From the moment I arrived, the front office was clear, direct, and even offered me a rental while the Jeep was being worked on. I do most of the work on my cars myself , sort of grew up around engines. You can say I've been wrenching since I was a teenager but I needed a smog certification and an oil chang, and I figured I'd give them a shot. I was referred to Chapman Auto Repair by a buddy of mine, and honestly I'm glad I listened. Not only did they knock it out quickly,but they also found a couple of other things I had missed. Brought my car into Chapman Auto Repair, it's a high end build and honestly fixing cars isn't something I stress over. I've got the budget, but I still expect premium service for premium machines. Initially thought I was dealing with a basic ac unit failure, but after a full diagnostic ( which I absolutely recommend doing) , they found the issue went deeper. A failing blend door actuator and a refrigerant pressure sensor throwing off the whole system. Could it have been cheaper? Sure. Did I care? Not really, because I knew I was getting sharp diagnostics, real mechanical skill, and no guess work. Shoutout to the Chapman team! Great communication, top tier service, and respect for my time. The cars running ice cold now and I'll be back when the next one needs work. Quality work matters and these guys deliver! read more

I've ought to say, best auto repair shop ive ever been to. First of all my friends and i were on our way to the outlets of orange and suddenly my friends car started making a weird sound under the bumber after a dip.We immediately looked for an auto repair shop and we came across two other shops before chapman auto repair. The two prior shops said itd take about a day for them to be able to do it when it was only one small bolt that fell off but was a risk upon us in the car. When we approached chapman auto repair shop a man immediately came out the door greeted and rushed to help us with whatever we needed. He sat us in the office lobby, offered us beverages and magazines while we waited for them to do what they do best. I recommend this shop to anyone and everyone. read more

This place is awesome!!!!! My friend recommended me to Chapman Auto Repair, I called before coming make sure they have time to check out my car, need an oil change and some other small repairs, I was taking a trip with family and I wanted to make sure car was in good condition, they make time for me same day.. understanding my situation and concerns. BUT.. I wasn't available to make it on the appointment scheduled, show up two days later with out notice, they new who I was and reason why I was taking my car, I just couldn't believe it!! The staff was super friendly, clean place, they had fresh pop corn, water and soda. For customers. They did a fantastic job. And not only that they wash my car for FREE!! Chapman Auto Repair is the best. These guys really know how to fix a car. Every time I go in there I am pleased. Great value and the best service that I've ever had in an auto repair shop and I've been driving for a long time. When I first went there they were incredibly compassionate because I had a serious car problem they cared about me more than just fixing the car they were concerned about my budget and they were concerned about what I needed as a person. He didn't take advantage of me because I was female they just made sure that everything was right done perfectly and then they called me the next day to make sure everything was great. I got a loaner car and they even wash my car when I was done. I am a customer for life I love these guys read more

We recently had or 2007 Toyota Tacoma suddenly die while my wife was on the 241 expressway. I was trying to coordinate a repair facility that AAA could tow the vehicle to. Kenny at Chapman Auto was quick to say they could take the vehicle in as soon as it arrived and that they would get it checked as quickly as possible. They gave us an initial estimate based on experience of the several items that could be causing the problem. By mid-afternoon they had begun the repairs and we were able to pick the truck up the next morning. The price was very reasonable and the service excellent. Amazing team! I recently took my GMC Terrain to Chapman Auto Repair, and I couldn't be happier with the service! From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly, professional, and upfront about costs and timelines. The team diagnosed the issue quickly and explained everything in a way that I could understand. They send a link which includes pictures of issues and any notes I need to know. Updating my review as I have come in for another trip to get a transmission service on my truck. It has been as stress free and easy as possible with any kind of repair. It was a rather big job so they shuttled me to a rental car place and paid for my rental for the time that my car was in the shop. They showed me periodic photo updates while they were doing the job and even showed me what they did after I came to pick it up. This is the main reason why I come to this shop over and over again, the transparency and honesty is unlike anywhere else I've found during my time driving and getting my car repaired. Coming from someone who has dealt with shady auto repair in the past, it's so worth it to come here and get some honesty. read more
