When we got to the restaurant we were immediately informed that neither of these dishes were available that evening. Very dissapointing, especially since the number of listed entrees was somewhat limited anyway. The restaurant at the time was mostly empty, and we were there early, so it wasn't a case of everyone before us ordering these entrees and depleting their inventory. This was just a case of very poor inventory management. I was also quite put off by the restaurant putting a 20% automatic gratuity on the bill. It's not the amount that upsets me, since we always add at least a 20% tip to every meal we eat out. What bothered me was that this charge was never announced by the waiter, and it appeared only in tiny print on the small and difficult to read check. Also, there was a line on the check for adding a "tip". Mind you, it did not say "additional tip", which would alert someone that the tip was already inluded. Since many people do not check their bills carefully, I'm sure that many people have inadertently double-tipped. This hard to detect tipping scheme came off to me as a way of getting some people to tip twice. This is just unethical. The food was ok, and the serice so-so. Overall, this was not a good dining experianece. We will not be going back.

This…read morewas our first trip to Westerly to dine at this steak house, keeping in mind that we're in CT around the Navy Base so we aren't very familiar with the Westerly downtown footprint. Upon entering Chillingham's we were immediately greeted by a smiling, happy to help face. The entry way was clean and didn't feel as if it was closed in, hard to access, and it didn't feel as if I was an interruption to other customers enjoying their meal. The atmosphere was easy to slip into and felt highly comfortable, especially for an upscale steak house. Accessibility is a hard feat for Chillingham's. In the Westerly downtown area, they are tucked in behind the main strip, and their access area is a hidden drive beside a secured parking lot. Once we had located Chillingham's, which wasn't an easy task, signage is well marked from the RI direction but not from the CT direction. By "well marked" I mean the restaurant is struggling with city ordinances for signs and other businesses not sharing their buildings for directional signage. The parking lot is quite small and hard to maneuver in. We ended up parking on the main street and walking down. This was not unenjoyable at all and would have been even more pleasant had it not been sprinkling. The downward street to their building is not well lit, again, not belonging to them, Chillingham's is hard pressed to fix this. The entrance to the building was clean, easy to enter, and well kept. The online reservations made it very clear that there was an upper seating area where steps would be essential or a downstairs area. This is an excellent way to prepare diners and allow them to customize their experience at Chillingham's. While the stairway was open and spacious, there was a significant amount of grease on the stairs. This not only is a significant fall risk for diners but must impact the Chillingham's staff as well. Understand that the upstairs area is beautiful and spacious and has a wonderful at home feeling. However, with restrooms located downstairs and staff using the stairs for food transportation, greasy stairs are just not safe. During the visit, we opted to sit upstairs. The music level and noise levels were excellent for an enjoyable dining experience. There is plenty of room between and around tables ensuring a private, comfortable meal with plenty of room for staff and patrons to maneuver without causing any interruption to meals. Lighting is on point throughout the restaurant. Intimate and cozy while being bright enough to see clearly. The meal was amazing. I have not had a steak cooked to that perfection since my father passed away many years ago. The sauce on the steak was pure perfection. My husband enjoyed the prime rib and has nothing but excellence to say. Without using the word excellent 17 times in a row, I'm not sure how well to express the quality of the food served. Taste was divine and there was no question as to if the food was locally sourced. You can taste the freshness. Our waiter did a fantastic job ensuring we had a wonderful meal. He was very familiar with the menu; in fact he described the special so well I was ready to skip the appetizer and have the main course immediately. His demeanor was positive and proactive; he knew when to make small talk and when to make the exit. He repeated the order back for confirmation and upsold both the special and dessert, making his job done perfectly. We didn't feel rushed or ignored at any point of the visit. The menu was easy to read, understand, and portion sizes and prices were clearly displayed. Allergen information was clear on the menu as well. Overall, our visit to Chilllingham's was very enjoyable and we can't wait to visit again. I give 9 of 10 stars, only loosing the last star for the difficulty in locating the restaurant.

While the Ribeye was cooked perfectly and just as delicious - I can't the same about the "2.0 Buffalo wings". 2.0 means they are coated in a blue cheese infused buffalo sauce. The taste was too light and it wahard to pick up the Buffalo or blue cheese taste. I'll try another wing option next time. The salads were fresh, plentiful with delicious dressings. I felt the baked potato was lacking. I got it loaded but it wasn't much different than what I could make at home with a russet potato from stop and shop. I did like the bacon chunks but I would stop short of calling it loaded. In the end it was the steak I went there for and I was not disappointed. The steak and the crafted cocktails with a professional bartender made the evening a success and I will be back.

What's with every restaurant on the East End and Sunday? All you can get anywhere is eggs, eggs, eggs! Bobby Van's was the 4th restaurant I tried today -- all on a quest for a decent fish lunch. And boy, did they deliver. From the hostess, who could see I was stressed out just coming in the door, to the waiter and bus boy who just let me sit and relax. I admit, I was not the kind of customer you want to see at your door. I tried three restaurants between Sag Harbor and Bridgehampton, only to leave when a.) I was ignored (I actually moved to the bar to get service at the first joint) or b.) there was no fish plates on the menu -- fried fish sandwiches yes, but no plates. At the second place, the host took two phone calls before she could trouble herself to seat me. By the time I hit the 3rd, I knew enough to scan the menu before I went to the trouble to be seated. Menu in French. No thank you. I wanted a pan fried or grilled piece of salmon and some veggies -- you wouldn't think that would be difficult but try it when everyone is serving brunch. Anyway, the hostess at Bobby Van's was so accommodating, she checked with the Chef and then let me choose from the dinner menu. Then the chef was so solicitous, she came back to ask me what kind of veggies I wanted. Wow. I either looked like I was going to murder someone or she is highly empathic. I think it was the latter. The chef turned out one of the best grilled salmon meals I've ever had! Perfectly grilled over a bed of quinoa with tiny diced vegetables that was so delicious I'm going back just for that -- I don't care what comes with it. Instead of grilling the salmon, skin on, the fish came grilled, skin off, with a smaller piece of perfectly grilled salmon skin delicately balanced over it. How cool is that? The haricot vert (which always sounds like the name of a famous European spy to me), were actually grilled, then finished in some yummy, wonderful saucy thing that would delight the most hardcore steak and potatoes man. It may look like the place your dad's dad would go to to pound down a few. They certainly have the bar for it. Noisy and aloof. But Chef Stella really brings it to every table with a seriousness and attention to detail that makes every mouthful an experience and worth every penny. Bless you, Ms. Hostess and Chef Stella! Last weekend I went to Bobby Van's steakhouse. Usually I like Bobby Van's. They do a decent steak and the service is decent for the Hamptons, however this past weekend I was very disappointed. I arrived at the restaurant about a half hour before closing, it was quite crowded but there were open tables. When I asked the hostess to be seated, I was told I couldn't do it because the kitchen was closing, even though their hours of operations stated that they are supposed to keep going for another 30 minutes. I decided to try my luck at the bar and was immediately able to order my meal. However, I was there with a couple of friends and when I told the bartender I was going over to the other side of the bar, he replied that he would not be able to hold my seat regardless of the fact that I had just ordered over US$100.00 worth of food. When I asked if we could then move to one of the many open tables, he also refused. Eventually I bit the bullet, had my meal at the bar but was unable to socialize with the friends I came with. I went in dying for steak. I was warned by my picky friend NOT to order a steak from this joint as they have not been good lately. But knowing she was overly picky, I was sure that the steak would be fine. Man was she right! For a $48 dollar porterhouse, I was greatly disapointed. I ordered my steak med rare, and it arrived med well. Not the end of the world..... But it was also tough as nails. I could not eat more than half of it. Ive had many steaks from steakhouses like Peter Lugers, Berns, S&W and others. For the price this place is asking for a steak, they should be ashamed. At best, its on par with Outback. I'm a regular at Bobby Van's The steak is amazing, and the restaurant has a vibe that's cool. whether you are doing a burger at the bar, or the full sha-bang you can't miss with this place. The last year or two, the service has been on a downhill spiral, actually on New Years Eve the guy practically threw the food at us. He was about as indifferent as it gets. I feel the chef in bridgehampton is amazing, as the food is always perfect. If you want great food and great service every single time, then Campagnola is the place. Ther fact you may be sitting next to Kate Hudson, Fergie, etc, doesn't suck either. However, when you get the bill, you will be certain you are not at Uno Pizza. read more

The steak was cold when my boyfriend got it so we had to send it back, and I have never sent a steak back before. Not to mention we made a reservation and we were in the restaurant for a total of 38 minutes because we were so rushed on ordering.
