This place is definitely for take out. They have a small window for you to order and pick up. Originally came for wings and they were sold out. It was only 5 P.M. when we arrived. I ordered two thighs one original and one spicy. They also give every chicken order a choice of a sauce. I can usually eat spicy food, and to put in perspective, usually level 4 out of 5. The spicy chicken was so spicy that I ended up with three cups of water and was full by the time I finished the two thighs. My friend got the chicken tenders and to our delight the pieces were very large. We unfortunately did not like the honey sauce though. The chicken was moist but was lacking flavor for the honey tenders. The order was called out within ten minutes so they are very fast. Fairly tasty stuff. Prices feel reasonable. The Kimchi Cheese sauce is far and away the most notable highlight of the menu here to me. Goes well with the the crinkle cut fries, pretty well with the wings, even the Kimchi Mac and Cheese benefits from having extra of the cheese sauce put onto it. The Kimchi Mac was pretty but lacked a little richness or something to tie it together, just seemed a little underseasoned - adding cheese sauce felt like a big improvement to me. Or just adding salt. Trying their Biscuit with Spiced honey was pretty fun, it held up pretty well on the ride home, simple flavors but effective. The flavor of the honey seemed predominantly like, anise-y, so if you don't like the taste of liquorice you may not be a fan. On the other hand, for $3, if you already know you like biscuits and honey, it's not much of a gamble. The "sesame soy garlic" sauce definitely had a distinct sesame flavor that set it apart from pretty much all the other soy garlic wing sauces I've tried - I wouldn't go so far as to say it was *better* than all those other sauces, I think I would've liked it better had it been just a little more viscous and rich. Didn't really cling to the wings all that well, and it didn't quite hit the "sweet and savory" bar I expect from soy garlic sauce. I feel very strongly about not trying a restaurant for the first time via takeout, but saw this place on Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives and had to try it (there was a COVID outbreak this week so inside dining is temporarily closed). Glad that Bok a Bok opened up a spot in Cap Hill, the other locations in Burien and White Center is a pretty far for me to get to for fried chicken. This spot is located off of 10th & Pike, just behind Neumos, so just look for that. Plus there's a huge lighted sign out front, you should be able to see it. I like fried chicken just as much as the next guy, but as I get older I can only have so much fried stuff in a sitting because it's just too much fried in my mouth and gets too rich for me. You'll get it when you get to my age. We got some stuff to share, so we got the "10 Crispy Chicken Wings" and "Tater Tots w/ Korean Chili Salt". It wasn't busy when we came in, but it still took a few extra minutes to get our food, I believe they cook your food to order. Everything came out piping hot, the wings and tots looked good to attack and for photo ops. Wings were medium to small sized, very crispy batter, nice dusting of Korean Chili Salt on top, juicy wings, overall pretty tasty and darn good wings! The tots were good too, just as crispy as the wings, same amount of chili salt on top, came out freshly fried up and we killed it. Interesting wing and fried chicken place, it's not southern fried chicken, it's more fried chicken with Korean fusion/twist. The sides looked good, will have to try the other sides next time. They offer a couple of salads, some fried chicken bowls and fried chicken sandwiches too, different cuts of chicken such as thigh only, drumsticks only, breast only, if you prefer. Bonchon is saucy and derives most of its flavor from the sauce but Bok a Bok is a light, crispy sauceless fried chicken which is super crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They do provide sauces for dipping, but honestly the chicken is seasoned well enough that the sauce isn't absolutely necessary. I gotta say, I was surprised by how much I liked it because I heard mixed reviews. But the chicken here really is a winner. The Capitol Hill location is on the smaller side, but know that you can order Bok a Bok at next-door's Runaway bar, just in case you're 21+ and/or can't a table for dining in. We were fortunate to take up one of the last tables when we came in, as the space is narrow. You order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. My friend and I decided to split the sides, the kimchi mac and cheese and the dirty tots. For our main entree, my friend ordered the umami BBQ chicken sandwich while I had the chicken breast strips. The food takes a bit to get, since everything is made fresh, but makes for a huge difference in taste. It was worth the wait. Chicken was incredibly juicy, with a perfect batter/coating. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with some spice on the skin. And these chicken breast strips were a large portion; so the next time someone makes fun of you for ordering chicken strips as an adult, you tell them to shove it and check out the ones at Bok a Bok because it ain't no child's play. These strips were delicious! Of the two sides we ordered, I liked the dirty tots much more than the kimchi mac and cheese. The dirty tots were loaded with cheese sauce, crispy onion and garlic, house ranch, with a fried egg on top. Tots were perfectly crispy with all dem goodies! Yet sadly, the kimchi mac and cheese wasn't as creamy as we had hoped, so the flavor was surprisingly lacking. We expected there to be kimchi throughout the mac and cheese, but there was only one giant chunk of it towards the bottom. And since there wasn't as much cheese sauce to the ratio of macaroni, it tasted dry. Sometimes Guy Fieri gets it wrong, but sometimes he gets it right. On a recent trip to Washington we looked up some DDD spots and found Bok a Bok. It did not disappoint. We got two of their chicken sandwiches, the breading is so crispy and the sauces for each sandwich were delicious. (Sesame soy garlic and a bbq one I think?) we also had to try to loaded tots and Kimchi Mac n cheese. ALL of it was soooo good. Nothing was disappointing about this place, I myself would prefer chicken breast over thigh but other than that, it was amazing. The tots had so many flavors as well as the spice in the Mac. I also had the "dirty tots" which was tater tots with different sauces and a fried egg on top; these were my favorite thing we tried. I also had the kimchi mac and cheese and really liked it. This restaurant had been featured on the show Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives so it was very cool to have the opportunity to check it out. Ordered some wings and they were really disappointing. The chicken was rubbery and had a grayish tint to it. Not sure if chicken was over cooked or just sat in a warmer for a long time. Maybe both. Gross. read more

It was National Chicken Wing Day(July 29th). Apparently there's such thing, so we had to go hunt for chicken wings to celebrate that holiday. These are Korean inspired chicken wings, super crunchy. It's air-dried, hand dipped, & double fried. I was starring at the promo video of some guy's beautiful tattooed arm dropping chicken in the deep fryer in slow motion. I'm sure it's something cool to watch while you're stoned also. The chicken wings are dry, the flavor comes with your choice of sauces which I believe there's 4 to choose from and you get 1 for every 5 wings. Try not to go during rush hours because it's a small location with limited seating and you'll want to eat these fried chicken while they're still hot! Besides wings, there's sandwiches and sides. Decent spice, better chicken places in Seattle. Also no dine in option. The chicken wings were definitely frozen and spice not well spread.
