I've been here three times now. I've been trying to make the boy eat Indian food, despite his plaintive cries "I don't like Indian food!" Bull, I say. Try it first! Since we moved away from Arlington, a trip to Tandoor just wasn't in the cards. It's bigger inside than I initially thought. The lunch buffet (which could cry tears of happiness about-- Indian lunch buffet in Fort Worth!!) has all the standards, though fewer selections than Tandoor (my only other previous Indian buffet experience; further comparisons may be imminent). Salad, meat and vegetable entrees. One desert choice, some milky coconut mixture. Service is usually prompt, most of the food is fabulous. Other points: 1. Gets busy during lunch. The line doesn't usually move fast, either. 2. They seemed to have difficulty with the rice on each occasion I've been. Liiiiiike the rice being undercooked. Or woefully understocked. Heartbreaking, just heartbreaking. 3. Tandoor had amazing naan bread. Here, it's consistently burned. Bottom line: The food is good, it's priced fairly, and you can expect good service. If they just fixed the rice and bread problem, they would forever have my love :3 read more

So a new coworker to the group is Indian and he has been wanting to try some of the local Indian food available. I mentioned the only place close (and decent) is Bombay Grill and that I hadn't been in several years...so naturally this was a perfect opportunity to revisit Bombay Grill. Walking in for the lunch buffet, it is naturally assumed that you will order the buffet and the staff just direct you towards the buffet line. In fact, I found it amusing that some of the regulars just walk right in and grab a plate, before even grabbing a table to set their stuff down. That being said, the buffet is quite good. Since I had not been in quite a while, I was quite open to trying everything they had. Their various chicken dishes, rice, fried dishes, etc., I tried, as well as plentiful amounts of their delicious naan. Now, I lamented to my friend that my exposure, and thus palette, for Indian food is quite low and this is definitely something I want to remedy (this applies to thai food as well) in the future. My Indian friend was also quite please with the selection and quality of the buffet, which is I think is a fairly good stamp of approval. To top it all off, the buffet is cheap, too. I think after ordering ice teas, we each left Bombay Grill paying around $9.00. Can't beat that for good food of any type, really. It was a great food, but the service is the worst! The door indicates they closed at 9:30pm and the dishwasher started asking us to leave the place around 8:30pm. Taking the plates out, even when we hadn't finish, brought the check and didn't want to serve food to just join at the place (around 8:15pm). He was so rude when we asked about the time. I ordered takeout on a perfectly ordinary Saturday night. It was a bit chilly and rainy out. Great to get some Indian food and spend the evening in watching Netflix. It also happened to be my 30th birthday. I ordered my food online and prepaid. Saag paneer, naan, and roti. Who doesn't want to splurge a little when they're ending a few days of celebrations? I pulled up to the restaurant and walked in. I told the man my name and that I had a to go order. He told me that it would be just a minute. And that's when it happened. "So what do you cook at home?" he asked. I was a little stunned by the question because I wasn't sure why it mattered, but I answered. "A little bit of everything, even Indian food! In fact, I just made saag paneer recently, but I learned the hard way not to use mustard greens- too bitter," I responded, unhelpfully volunteering too much information. He laughed at me, and not in a kind way, but as if he didn't believe I could cook a package of ramen, and then spouted something to the person in the kitchen in a language I don't speak. Went for dinner last night my second visit. First time the food was ok and since there are not many options for Indian food in the area I returned. This time around they microwaved leftover food from lunch buffet and served it to us for dinner. I know this for a fact because every time you microwave bone in chicken it stinks. We ate 4 different things and everything tasted stale. Note to management: I know business might not be good so you are trying to cut cost by serving leftover lunch food for dinner but that's how you loose customers. So thrilled to have a good Indian place near work! And a lunch buffet too? I'm loving it! I went during lunchtime, at around 12:15. We were seated almost instantly, and there were a good amount of people in the small restaurant. The buffet had sufficient choices. There was a small salad bar and lots of entrees to pique my interest. Two soups were offered, and one dessert. There was plenty of fluffy white basmati rice to complement the chicken, beef, and veggie dishes offered. The highlights were the chicken curry, naan, and stewed chickpeas. I tried everything except for the dessert and was pleased. The one thing that disappointed me though was that the suace for the meatballs was amazing, but the meatballs themselves tasted like packaged meatballs. It was odd! I was also disappointed to see that there were no falafels as a part of the buffet! :-( One of us ordered the dumplings in syrup and they looked tasty. The staff are friendly, the plates are cleared off the table fairly quickly, and when you are rung up at the back counter after your meal, the process is quick. AVOID! Very rude business. My kids have been begging to try Indian food, so we decided today was the day. We walked in, sat down, and placed our drink orders. Our drinks were brought out and later the waitress returned to take our order. We ordered chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas, garlic naan, rice and dessert. After I ordered the lady asked if that was all I was ordering and I said yes. She said if that's it you can take it to go. (They closed in 20 minutes) I then asked my family to wait for me outside. I waited for our food and took it to my kids. I noticed the dessert was missing so I went back inside. I showed her my ticket and before I could speak she walked in the kitchen and came out with my dessert. She handed it to me and said you are leaving. I told her I am leaving and I'm not coming back!! I'm not too big on Indian food but also lack of knowledge on Indian food. My sister loves this place and always drags me with her. The service here could be better. I would usually order chicken tikka masala because that's one of the only things I've tried and actually like, but my sister ordered that. I was scared to try any vindaloo because my first time here I ordered beef vindaloo and my mouth was on fire! I couldn't even take another bite. This time I ordered tandoori prawns. My biggest complaint with this restaurant is that the food portion sizes for delivery are too small for the money spent compared to other restaurants I frequent in the same price range. I ordered GRUBHUB delivery, spent a total of $46.00 and received very small portions of food that IMO did not equal the money spent. We have been coming here off and on for a decade now. We have only gone to the lunch buffet during the week, so I can only speak to that. The food is always good, although we have learned not to go toward the end of the lunch buffet, as the food is definitely fresher earlier when there's more turnover. This was one of the better Indian lunch buffets I've been to! With tip, it came out to $10/person. Most of the tables are 2 or 4 people person tables, but my group of 7 luckily snagged the big table. Either way, it didn't matter where we sat because my head was turned downward the whole time shoveling food into my mouth. They change their buffet daily, but my top three choices are: (1) Chana masala - yummy chickpeas in a spicy salty sauce that pairs nicely with the naan. (2) Vegetable pakora - fried vegetables that taste like French fries. (3) Chicken tikka masala - one of the less dry chicken options they had at the Buffett. Flavor was pretty good as well. Although it definitely doesn't compare to homemade Indian food (shoutout to my Indian best friends mom!), it's a good amount of Indian food for the price. Being an Indian, I can tell, the tastes were no where close to an Indian food. The chicken, veg curry, the fish fry etc was all too bland. Samosa tasted stale. First of all, they missed the appetizer, second, the order was not accurate. Plates, Knives, Napkins and forks were missing. How are we supposed to eat?? Quality of food passable overall. The Naans were blackened ... a little (10-20%) charred is good for the flavor ... it was 50-70% charred which ruined the taste. All dishes were ordered spicy but the Paneer Tikka Masala turned out sweet and even the Lamb Saag was not spicy at all. The rice was packed in a Chinese takeaway box( first time in my 25 yrs here).The rice may have been jasmine and not basmati .. it was short grained and seemed clumpy. ( usually the way to serve this is to ensure the grains are just cooked and separate easily). It is normal for the garlic naan to char but there is a difference between charred and burnt. When I called the restaurant about these problems, they said they ran out of cutlery, the naan and rice is how they normally cook and they don't get any complaints about rice, which means they are used to getting complaints about their food. They wanted to offer partial credit for the food quality but who is going to order from here again. Even though i'm quite new to indian food, Bombay Grill is Easily my go to place. I've had some rough experiences with this category of food. They other few places i've been just kind've taste like chutney covered play-doh. I've ordered a handful of dishes from here and tackled the buffet a couple of times and nothing really failed me. Beware some of the dishes are quite spicy. Like nose run, make you sweat a lil in front of your date making her think that you're nervous spicy (Kofta Curry). I spend about $20-$30 when I order to go. They give you a normal sized 'chinese food box' full of your order and a box of rice (which is really good and seasoned) I order about 2 dishes, samosas and a couple of pieces of naan every time. Or you could go to the buffet and pay a quarter of that but, their buffet dishes vary from day to day. Still Good though. My Favorite thing about this place, the vegetable Samosas. GD, Perfect with some Tamarind Sauce Ohhhh And their Naan is Excellent. if God split his soul into tiny pieces, one little piece would be Bombay Grills Buffet! I just moved to Fort Worth from Houston, where there is no shortage of amazing Indian Cuisine, so imagine my relief at finding a centrally located Indian restaurant here in town. Either the rest of Fort Worth is just not that into Indian food, or some freak accident caused everyone who would have come out to Bombay Grill to stay at home...needless to say we were the only people dining at 8:30pm on a Monday night. I'm assuming this is more of a lunch buffet place. Here's the rundown: Pretty standard menu--you'll find the same dishes here as you would at any other Indian restaurant. I don't know if the owners read these reviews or not, but it seems in one way or another previous complaints have not gone unanswered. When I called my order in , the lady that took it was very pleasant. Upon arriving , I was greeted by her with a smile and she was friendly making small talk. A male came out of the kitchen checking on things, he made eye contact and acknowledge me with a friendly hello. Upon arriving home , I found the food to be hot still and the naan was fresh. It's not the best Indian around, but it's probably the best in Fort Worth considering there's not a huge Indian population here. I think I was spoiled by the bajillion shady places that Irving has to offer. Fort Worth does not have many options for Indian food. This was one (1) of three (3) that resulted from my search. So our craving for Indian food led us here. We know the area well so we found it easily. But if you're driving and not familiar with the area, you could easily miss it. Some would expect it to be on the corner of Hulen and Donnelly, BUT you have to turn onto Donnelly and the restaurant is on a strip that faces Hulen. We walked in and we're the only customers so it didn't start off as a good sign. The air was filled with the smell of incense too. I don't mind incense but there's a point where it is too much. Anyways, when you walk in you take about one step before being stopped by this huge hostess station. It literally blocks everything and no one was there to greet us. So the workers there were unaware we were there, as they could not see us. We decided to just take a seat, at which then the owner (or who I believe to be the owner) greets us with menus. He was VERY KIND and GREAT TO HIS EMPLOYEES. He was the only one on the floor. When he was checking us out (which you go to another counter for, they don't do it at your table.), he apologized for the wait and mentioned that one of his employee's aunt was in the hospital and he told her not to come in. There wasn't a wait actually so there was no need for him to apologize. We ordered their Tandoori Chicken dish and their Nanjoori Chicken Curry dish to share between two (2) of us. There was a small appetizer brought out, but I was disappointed to see that NAAN DOES NOT COME WITH DISHES. You have to order it separately ($3). Up until this point, I had no idea that there were places that did not assume it to be apart of main dishes. But both dishes were QUITE GOOD. The Tandoori Chicken came on a skillet wrapped in foil (interesting) with onions. If the foil had been gone, and the food was places straight on the iron skillet below, I believe all of the onions would have grilled nicely. Only some were grilled, others left raw. (I'm just not a fan of raw white onions).The curry came out in a small dish that proved to be quite dense. It was mainly sauce with a few chicken pieces. There was a few pieces of some veggie but I don't recall what kind it was. We, of course, had both dishes with rice. Frankly, I had not liked the curry at first. But after a few bites, it grew on me. Three (3) more parties had showed up before we finished our meal. When we moved to Texas five years ago, we left behind my favorite Indian restaurant. I went on a mad scramble to find Indian food in my new city and I never did find anything I loved. I remember trying Bombay Grill five years ago and not being impressed. I went in today for lunch and something has changed. Maybe my tastes have changed or maybe Bombay Grill got a lot better (maybe some combination of the two), but lunch was delicious today. The naan was perfect. The chicken tikka was so yummy. Well it is time to bring to light the mediocre staff, lack of quality service, and not sure what to say yet about the so-called food. My wife and I are people who prefer food with curry and cumin. This was not our finest moment in selecting a new place to sample. I assume buffet day is the only time to visit, since the lack of a crowd on a Saturday night should have signaled or sent alarms off in our heads. First notice was no ice in ice water then the time it took to place a drink order which should be considered simple in Texas a coke and 2 iced teas. Unfortunately my drink had additional swimmers of the fly variety. Which took 8 minutes to resolve with only 8 customers in the establishment. Then came the the entree which included 2 chicken korma and 1 lamb shahi korma and 3 orders of naaan and roti breads. The chicken was a bit undercooked and even parts were slightly raw. Then rice was fragrant but cool. The lamb was tender and tasty. The korma was raw. I question the sanitation of the kitchen with the addition of the fly in my drink. Me and a couple of friends visited this establishment on a Sunday afternoon and were very disappointed with the quality of both the food and service. The chiken tikka masala was very watery, naan bread very cold and chicken tandoori salty.The rajma (red beans) curry, was undercooked and seemed like it had come straight out of a can. I've been here a couple times now and every time the food taste bad and look like it's been sitting there forever, even though you come right around 12 when they open. This last Saturday every single item tasted and looked very unappetizing. The items of the buffet are a copy of Tandoor Indian in Arlington but that restaurant does a much better job. I walked into this place around 8 PM, and there are no one to greet you in or allot a chair, I was standing there for 7 minutes and I took a sit for myself! A Spanish lady comes with menu and leaves! I ordered a chicken biryani, and they don't know what a chicken biryani means! They got me chicken curry mixed rice in a plate. Since I was hungry, trying to satisfy my hunger, I started eating. Food was absolutely gross, chicken in my plate was 75% uncooked! These indians are always cheaters! No matter what you order they just mix the curry in rice and tell you that it's a biryani! We went with so much eagerness to this restaurant 11/1/15 and bought lamb Barra kebab, amritsari fish, chicken tikka and chicken noorjani. It was horrible overall. The chef threw chili powder into noorjani and it was like atomic wings!!! Yet no flavor. Barra lamb kebab was the worst lamb I have ever had in my life time. Rock hard so chewy without any flavor. Chicken tikka was soft but no flavor and hence nothing great to talk about!!! Fish amritsari was the only starter which was reasonable. We are new to Fort Worth so decided to try this new place based on some of the reviews. Sadly disappointed and I indeed wasted my 58$ in this restaurant. This will be my first and last to this restaurant and not just that I will make sure none of my friends visit this place unless they improve their flavor and quality of food.
