My wife and I had dinner there May 8th. It was quite possibly the worst dinner out we have had in the last 10 years. They price like a major restaurant and cook, serve and look like a two star restaurant. I ordered the New England Seafood & Pasta, my wife order the open faced lobster roll and a calamari appetizer to split. others at the table wanted to know where we found onion rings on the menu. There were about 12 large pieces of calamari which I would guess was frozen for $16. Terrible. The open face lobster roll was apiece of semi toasted loaf bread with a 3-4 ounce scoop of lobster meat with fruit on the side. Other guest thought she had ordered a fruit plate. Cost $42 even though the menu said $32. The seafood on the New England pasta was good and well prepared. Unfortunately the pasta and sauce wasn't. The taste was bland and the pasta was overcooked. Service was poor. They want you to look at the waiter scroll through pictures on an iPad. On top of that service was rushed even though the restaurant was even half full. this is not the type of service I expect in a restaurant charging $40 and up for entrees. Ambiance - old and tired. Basically 1 drink, two glasses of wine and the food above for for$166. Save your money. read more

I have often stopped for a delightful drink and something to eat at the bon appétit restaurant in Dunedin Florida. The food was always excellent, and the drinks were top-notch. The service was never less than polite and casual. However, this afternoon, as I search for a seat at the bar, I discovered they were all taken. One of the."taken" seats at the counter was occupied by a small dog sitting a top it. I politely asked the two young ladies if they would kindly remove the dog so that a pain customer, myself, could sit there they adamantly refused and became nasty and their disposition. They said they were reserving the seat for a friend. That was no excuse, however, for a dog to be sitting at a bar where people were eating. The two bartenders shrugged their shoulders when I brought this matter to their attention. About five minutes later, I found a seat that had just been vacated. After a while, a supervisor from inside came out and requested that the young ladies put the dog on the ground as it was against the health code. Needless to say, it left a sour taste in my mouth as did the dollar 50 surcharge for two onions in my dirty Gibson cocktail! read more

Overall, was an average restaurant with poor service. My wife and I ordered. $125 dollar bottle of wine and didn't feel the service was anything special. Located on the waterfront in Dunedin, FL, we loved the atmosphere, music, and just being on the water and enjoying watching the boats come and go. And the sunsets, well amazing. The food was good but we thought the portions were small and pricey, service was a little hit or miss. It was October, so they had an Octoberfest menu. I had the smoked salmon over potato pancakes, good but small portions, my husband had the chicken over noodles and my daughter had fettuccini alfredo with shrimp, which was the best dish. I wanted to eat near the water, but the husbeast didn't want to go all the way to Clearwater, so I told him about this side of Dunedin. He wasn't sure - but when I pointed this place out, he'd already eaten here. He said we weren't dressed fancy enough for inside, but for outside, we were dressed just fine. We had excellent seats, right on the deck next to the water - We should have considered this, that at 4pm on an early October Saturday, the sun was already in a downward arc and was blinding, but I got to hide behind a pillar and only took mild sun damage. The view though, Was incredible. Our waitress was wonderful, She was from Hungary, was knowledgable about the menu and let us have a few minutes to decide what we wanted. We started out with ice tea, but those were old/skunky so I opted for a diet pepsi and the husband had water. The husbeast had the gumbo and I had the French Onion soup and we both had the 1946 Salad. Both of us were delighted with the food. The salads were huge and the soups were fresh made. For the price, this restaurant is a disappointment. We could not find much on the menu that was of interest. The one dish that appealed was not available. The chicken dish was dry without taste AND it came with nothing. Just a piece of chicken on a plate with a bit of raw curly kale to make the plate look full. For $39 surely a piece of chicken should have a vegetable side! Who serves an entree with only meat? The service was slow. Tables that arrived well after us had their meal and we were still waiting for our appetizer. We would not recommend. Dunedin has places with better food for the price. read more

First of all, when you talk about Bon Appétit, you have to first mention the beautiful, water view! I brought my dad here for a late lunch and happy hour. There are daily happy hour specials from 11:30am - 6:00pm (excluding holidays and special events). They feature $2.50 Bud Light and Yuengling draughts, $4 glasses of house wine (cabernet sauvignon, merlot, chardonnay, and white zinfandel), and $4 well cocktails. We sipped on a couple of Bloody Mary's that were on special and took in the beautiful water view. They were pretty good and paired well with the Black Angus sirloin burger that we ordered. The burger came with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles and a choice of cheese. It was quality meat made exactly how we ordered it. It was really delicious! The atmosphere is pretty chill with no pretentiousness that I noticed. It may have been the time of day that we went. It was on the weekend and we sat outside on the outdoor terrace. There is a waterfront bar that you can sit at as well. I can see this as a nice place to dress up and go out to dinner later in the evening because the inside is quite nice and they have some upscale food offerings. It's a great place for groups and families. We saw several people with children, older adults, and dogs. Yep, Bon Appetite is pet friendly! Pets are welcomed on the outside terrace. Next door close to the park with stone monument from different states was a seafood shop that was the only place in the area to get fresh seafood! I can't remember how much time I spent at bar! We were told by one of the customers that Rachel from Chicago was a marvelous waitperson. She lived up to her reputation, amiable, welcoming and knowledgeable about both the food and wine. She is a good listener and remembered what we had there the day before. I can't even think of better service. My partner had the Dover sole and she filleted it for him. What a great location. Alfresco bar, live mellow music, and average food for the cost.. ALMOST makes up for the grouchy, snarky, and unattentive bartenders. I don't mind paying top dollar for great food and drinks but the bad attitudes, makes spending my time money and tip hard to swallow. Should we be made to feel sorry for being there if it's busy? Doesn't the GM want the place "busy"? Should we have to flag down the two or three bartenders walking past us several times, (after 20 minutes of being seated) before they great us? Or even make eye contact? Oh and here's the great greeting....Finally, when a bartender approached us, like we were interrupting them, I asked for a drink, an ice water and a menu, she said under her breath, "Oh now you're pushing it". The ladies next to us laughed but I was rendered speechless and a little embarrassed. Really??? Dunedin has so many great venues, food and wonderful service. I might pass on spending my time or money here again. Its too bad, we are local full time residents and it might have been one of our favorite go-to spots. And after reading a previous review, I would definitely ask for a printed receipt, as the total bill seemed a little excessive. If the gratuity was going to be added by the server, and unknowingly I tipped another 20% on top, it would make perfect sense that the service was sub-par from the get go. At the end of the day, after having worked in that industry myself, the service can make or break the experience. But that's just me. The location is amazing and the food is consistently good. The service is often attentive although we have had off nights as well. We have been about a dozen times over the course of the last several years so an off night of service happens everywhere and is no reason to stay away. I rate this restaurant a 4 out of 5 stars because the menu options are fairly standard and not much (other than the view) is out of this world amazing. They do often have live music inside at the piano and depending on which songs are played, the music may be too old for your taste. French Onion Soup - my husband orders this everytime we come and he says it is the second best French onion soup he has ever had (his first choice is from a cruise line we frequent so I guess that makes the soup here his first choice on land.
