Ridiculously overpriced and nothing special. I tried a piece of the French toast, which was soggy on the inside. Water served in plastic cups, paper napkins.... yikes ok. We sat outside, so maybe it's different inside, but just not what I was expecting for a place that advertises itself as fine dining. Omigoodness!!! First and foremost, Rachel from Chicago is AMAZING!!! If you are going to go to Bon Appetit ask for Rachel; Rachel went above and beyond. Rachel gave us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. She also brought freshly baked rolls. Rachel did everything to make our experience top notch! Now back to the food and ambience, the food was phenomenal, fresh and flavorful. We had drinks to start, my son and I had bloody Mary's, I had traditional and my son had the surf and turf. The Bloody Mary's were the best we have ever had! My son's girlfriend had the espresso martini and my husband had the mimosa. They said their drinks were pretty yummy too. I had the crab cakes Benedict, my husband had the Lobster egg pie, and our son and his gal had the avocado burrata toast; Holly added the shrimp to her avocado burrata toast. I've dined here many times. Unfortunately, I wasn't made a aware that they drastically increased some of their wines, among other things. To my surprise my $22 9oz glass of wine is now $36 (even though the online menu had it listed at $26 per glass but that's a whole other gripe I have with them)!! Even when I complained, they gave no consideration or apology. I can understand charging $36 when you're fine dining, but this food does NOT compare to fine dining. It offers ambience and that's it! My parents really love the value menu for this place plus it's scenic location is very tough to beat. We enjoyed dinner indoors due to cooler temps but there's also an extensive outdoor bar and patio. Our meals were served promptly as ordered and our 360 view of the water from our table was perfect. I don't recommend their Caesar salad anymore. It used to be delicious, but I stopped by yesterday and ordered the small Caesar salad with salmon. Well what comes out is 2 tiny little plates with a handful of lettuce on one plate and on a separate plate a piece of salmon. That is not what someone expects when they order a salad with a protein on it. So I had to ask for a larger plate so I can move the salad onto the plate and put the salmon on top of it. And the salad dressing was sweet - it used to be quite good but it was sweet, & that is not Caesar. And the croutons were obviously store-bought - not freshly made. Still a lovely location but also the salmon had a lot of oil on it - probably some awful seed oil. I can't recommend that salad anymore. read more

Was overcast due to hurricane Nicole coming in so we ate dinner.. enjoyed our time from the drive. It's a fine dining restaurant if this is the ambiance you like! Our party of 4 went there for dinner and was absolutely delighted. The water view ambiance was perfect, service excellent and the food delicious. I ordered half a rack of lamb well done it came with asparagus, mini potatoes and summer squash with a delicious mint julep sauce. It was well seasoned and delicious. My wife had a grilled salmon filet that came with a salad. She said hers was also well seasoned and quite tasty. I will recommend this restaurant and a stroll on the attached jetty to view the rays feeding was a perfect way to view the sunset read more

My first visit to Dunedin ! Decided to try this restaurant on St Patty's Day. They were packed as were most businesses. Their staff was well coordinated - i decided to try their octopus dish with some sparkling wine ! It was very well presented - so tasty and cooked perfectly - their chef's are on point ! The next day I went back and had their Bistro Burger and have to say it was one of the most perfectly medium rare burgers with wonderful taste - did they use truffle salt ?? bam! We had a lovely time in this very relaxing space, there was a slow and relaxing pace as we enjoyed our meal. Our waiter, seasoned, at no time asked if we were still working on our meal. He inquired if we were enjoying our meal. Later, he asked if we would like containers to go. Very professional, gracious and pleasant. He did not need to entertain us. He knew how to be present while also not impacting our conversation negatively. My appreciation for his service increased when he did not ask if we were working on our meal. Wow! So impressed by this place. Perfect location by the water. Great fun and friendly service and the food... oh the food was spectacular! The Greek salad was delicious and quite different. It came with potato salad on top, what I was not expecting but it was quite interesting. Also love the individual bread they serve before food. Reminds me of home bread. I have been going to this place for over 15 years as I was a resident of Dunedin before moving to a different city still near by. The ambiance is absolutely gorgeous, water views from inside sitting and amazing ocean views from outside sitting, your basically on top of water over looking the ocean, sunset time is most beautiful to me. They have a great bar outside and good cocktails, service is good, however it has changed a bit over the years especially since Covid. It's a great place for weddings, and or receptions of any sort as you can not beat the gorgeous views. Inside they have beautiful tropical leaves wallpaper, a piano that's gets played most evenings, and they have lights in their ceilings that look like shining stars. The food is good, takes a little while to get it, but it is great food. I definitely recommend this place especially for date night or anything romantic. read more

What a delightful spot right on the bay at Dunedin. We had a delightful view from our outdoor table. Our meal started with a delicious cup of french onion soup, with savory and perfectly caramelized high quality cheese. The soup broth was flavorful as well as uniquely flavored. We also sampled a greek salad, which was fresh vegetables, very high quality feta cheese, and anchovies. For our main course we had salmon, plated with fingerling potatoes and avocado salsa, and grouper "Bon Appetit", both of which we extremely high quality. Of note for both dishes was the exceedingly fresh fish and wonderful accoutrements presented with each. We did not have room for dessert but will hope to enjoy dessert on our next visit. I recently hosted a team event with many colleagues visiting from out of town and thought Bon Appétit would be a perfect spot, as I wanted my group of around 20 to enjoy a beautiful sunset while dining. I made the reservation ahead of time and clearly stated that my goal was to treat my team to dinner while watching the sunset. When we arrived, we were told a room was prepared for us. I immediately mentioned that we didn't want to be seated in a back room, as I had specifically requested a view of the sunset. The person handling our reservation insisted that two servers had already been assigned and claimed I'd be taking money away from them if we changed our seating. I noticed several open tables and asked if we could pull them together outside instead, but I was told they have a policy against doing that--even though there were clearly other groups with tables pulled together at the time. It was a Tuesday evening with plenty of available outdoor seating, and yet they refused to accommodate us. For a local restaurant, it's surprising that they didn't seem interested in finding a solution. I live in Dunedin and frequently support our local restaurants, and this is the first truly disappointing experience I've had here. Unlike the other family-owned establishments that genuinely care about their local customers, Bon Appétit seemed indifferent to our experience. I'll be sharing this experience with others in the community, as well as the many restaurants, bars, and breweries I regularly visit. We went there a few years ago and was better...I ordered a lobster roll and it was terrible....the server got multiple orders wrong and the price for the quality of food is really kind of ridiculous. I would never go back to this place again absolutely never again and I would highly recommend not eating here unless you want terrible food and terrible service. I don't mind paying for good food, but I expect it to be good in this place didn't make it not even close !! read more

My little sister, she is now 59 :) , was in Dunedin for a visit. My wife and I took her on a golf cart tour of our beautiful town and ended it at Bon Apetit. Started with drinks at the outdoor bar with Yvonne and Mauricio - two of the best bartenders there. We then went inside for our sunset reservation. We had the Salmon, Land and Sea, and a Filet Mignon. Everything was delicious. Our waiter Miguel was fantastic. Great food, service, and drinks. What more could you ask for.
