A relatively mall store, but the workers work fast to clear tables. There is always going to be people waiting around in line during the busy meal times. Their menu is very small in terms of the choices of flavors for their chicken. Basically, they only have two flavors for their chicken, the soy garlic or the spicy flavor. I like having their lunch deal which is the 6 choices of their wings, drumsticks or boneless (?) + your choice of sides which was the pickled veggies, coleslaw, etc. They don't skimp on the sides though, lol. However, the wings are on the smaller side, I've heard a lot of people recommending the drumsticks at this location. We arrived shortly after 1 and it was packed. All tables taken and people sitting waiting for their take out order. With a wait like this it must be good. I loved the simple menu. Only two flavors, and you can go for the "meals" (small medium large) or go for the "entrees" which had helpings such as Bul go gi tacos. We ordered the Large and instead of opting for the 20 wings we got the 4 drums 12 wings. The drums were ACTUAL drumsticks and the wings were plump with plenty of meat on it. Our Large came with Two sides we opted for Kim Chi Cole Slaw and Rice. The wings also come with a bowl of pickled daikon. MMMmmMMMm I loved pickled daikons just like the one in Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwich). We also ordered a side of sweet potato fries and Zucchini fries. The sweet potato fries were just okay. It came with a side of sweet chilli sauce. I've had better elsewhere but the zucchini fries were OMG. Some of the best I've had and it came with ranch and another orange looking sauce that was a mixture of mayo and something else but DELICIOUS. I think it's the sauce that usually goes in Korean Tacos. We got half the soy garlic flavor and half the hot garlic flavor. I like spicy so the kick in the hot garlic was good. The regular soy garlic is just as tasty. I liked how it's not really battered just deep fried perfectly. The wings are EXTRA crispy YUM! I usually try to go healthy and not eat fried chicken skin, or not eat all of it.. but this skin was irresistible. It's okay.. I didn't feel so bad after eating it.. I went to the gym before I came... (which probably explained why I had such an appetite, but worth it). Bon Chon chicken used to be right next to my house when I lived in Sunnyvale. I came here on a weekend and they catered to a group of 10+ people I was with. The customer service was up to par in a tiny spot. We had ordered the chicken wings and soju here. Just ordered take out tonight and while it's a bit of a drive compared to 99 Chicken, it's worth considering the quality and faaaaaaar (x 10000) superior service. I kid you not. No fuss, no minimum 10 pieces for to-go orders BS (looking at you 99 Chicken). She says it'll be ready in 20 mins. I get there as such, and my orders ready. The place is smallish and was full with a few people waiting outside but nothing insane like what you get at the "other" KFC. The gal was nice and speaks good English (another plus). I pay and I'm on my way. The chicken was still nice and warm when I get home. The chicken is super crispy on the outside and tender, juicy inside. It's incredible it stayed crisp during the 15 min ride home as I was trying to avoid the obstacles (read idiots on the road) in my way from my chicken. The soy sauce garlic has a slightly sweet taste while the spicy hot garlic sauce is well, spicy. A different take from 99 which has a sweet chilli sauce that coats the fried chicken. The only weird thing about Bon Chon is that they serve coleslaw and biscuits as sides which, err, doesn't seem too Korean. Oh well, at least the chicken rocks! We waited about 20 minutes after ordering to ask about our food. Five minutes after that, our food was ready and I was a bit annoyed by how long that took but I guess that happens every once in a while at most places. After the long wait for my food, I started chowing down on my food. To my surprise, the chicken was amazing for the way it looked. It just looked like plain fried chicken when I first saw it in my opinion. The flavor comes from the outer part of the chicken. You can taste the soy and the garlic once you bite down on the chicken. I am not a fan of chicken wings, but Bon Chon Chicken has won me over. It's pretty much a korean KFC. The soy garlic wings are battered and fried. The sauce is on the sweeter side but they soy sauce and garlic really help balance it out. The chicken is cooked perfectly, only happy tummies not tummy aches. It tastes amazing! Especially with rice. It surprised me that the chicken wings were still crispy even though it took me 45 minutes to get home. Coleslaw and kimchi lovers have to get their kimchi coleslaw. My first Bon Chon experience was in New York City. It was late after a long flight and after stopping by a few local bars. We were hungry like none other. As ridiculous as the name sounded at the time, I didn't think too much of Bon Chon until I started making my way up the stairs half-drunk and emerging from a dark hallway, then seeing the New York Times article on the restaurant wall near the entrance. They had an elaborate bar and a ceiling filled with blueish starlights throughout. Not to mention, they served up some of the tastiest chicken drumsticks I've ever had. My peers thought the 'spicy' was very spicy, but I found it to be mild. Either way it was delicious. I'm a spice hound so I didn't even try the regular, but I'm sure it was good, too. I came here with my friends on a Thursday at around 1pm and we had to wait around 20-30 minutes. I ordered a japchae and it tasted good but it didn't really taste like Korean food. I love the spicy chicken (boneless) here and the pickled radishes in the side. But the spice can be pretty intense. I havent tried anything else but they are known for chicken and once your tongue gets numb your good. LOL!!! There could be a long wait so better to go when it's not as crowded or take out. Korean chicken wings? I'm here! Honestly, first thought when I had my first bite was "can Bonchon please combine forces with Kyochon in LA and create a new brand?" I can't help but keep comparing the two (fyi, Kyochon has to be my favorite Korean wings place in LA). The flavoring at Kyochon is better, but the wings at Bonchon. OH MAN! Still crispy, not overly drenched in sauce, and doesn't look like it's been fed steroids. Called in on Friday night for to go. 20 pieces, half an half. Went to pick up the wings in 15 minutes, like we were told. Luckily for us, the food just came out! Also asked for spicy mayo, was charged, but we never got it! :( Sad, but oh well. I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place! A small is definitely not enough for two people. The soy garlic chicken is one of a kind. It's the best fried chicken I ever ate. I can never go back to KFC and occasionally Popeyes. Other items I've tried that you can skip are the seasoned fries, calamari and bulgogi taco. Well you can either get a chicken combo or those items together. We ordered all of the above and it was just way too much food for one sitting. The bulgogi tacos were a lot bigger that I imagined but it's mostly lettuce. Still delicious and one of a kind. The menu is simple. The food is great. I met up with an old friend (haven't seen her since high school!!!!) at Bon Chon. It was my second time there and my friend's first time :). We got the medium size (mixed) with a side of kimchi coleslaw and Dduk Bok Gi (Spicy Rice Cake). Woohooo!!!!!! HOMERUN!!!!!!! The rice cake was chewy but not tough and the sauce was spicy but not too HOT!..The fried chicken were sssooooo goooooddddd and crispy!!!! Apparently Bon Chon is a franchise. It is unique in this way as one would think it is a one of a kind place. It is very clean, simple and new looking, very Asian in decor. A couple of nice young guys were running the place. This is a combination of a table service fast food fried chicken joint and a Korean Bar. There were several Asian beers on tap and in bottles as well as a few domestics. For the meal you can get fried chicken or fried chicken in two different sauces. For side dishes you can get fries, sweet potato fries, fried zucchini, etc. and some Korean items. We ordered all of these. The service was good and the food was scorching hot as most of it just came out if the deep fryer. Once it cooled down it was quite delicious and the four of us were overall impressed with the flavor of all of our dishes. The two sauces were excellent. I absolutely love the chicken here. It's some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. The skin is really nice and crispy, and the meat isn't dried out. I usually order the large to share between 2 people and it's plenty. The side of kimchi coleslaw is pretty good too! The service is pretty quick, you'll usually get your food within 10 minutes of ordering, only downside is the wait to get a table because of how small the restaurant is. I came in at 11:30 am and placed my order not too long after siting down. Order: white meat chicken, rice, coleslaw, and Kim Chi coleslaw. The total came out about $10 something which was a decent price. The portion is huge for one person. I kept on checking on my order because I was on lunch break and I didn't want to seem rude but they were so attentive to everything I asked for. Great customer service and good food.
